Friend Stream app force closing when viewing a Facebook photo - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

i'm not sure if this has been discussed, so far i haven't seen mention of it, but has anyone else noticed that the Friend Stream app force closes immediately when trying to view a photo on Facebook? i have experienced this on pretty much every Rom i have tried...... anyway, here is a logcat of the force close taking plac, in case this hasn't been discussed yet, and in case anyone might be able to fix it... (wish i could lol). or if there is a fix i can do on my phone myself.....

I looked at your logcat. Your issue is you are using titanium backup. Do a FULL Wipe and format and DO NOT restore using titanium backup. Yes Its going to suck but i guarantee it will fix this issue. Also after the fresh Wipe do a fix permissions in rom manager.

Ah ok, thanks for taking a look. I actually have never restored anything with Titanium, and i was thinking that the reason it is popping up in the log was because right before making the force close happen, i had defrosted the alogcat app lol, because i don't want it to run all the time. So i defrosted it with Titanium and went straight to Friend Stream. Could that be why Titanium showed up there? I think the force close happens on fresh installs after wiping....

Ok, thank you for looking, i'll see if i can fix it, perhaps by eliminating Titanium Backup.
Is anyone else having this problem?

You also need to flash my security Patch If your using romanbb rom cause htclogger is in your logcat. Not a good idea.

I figured out the issue! It was the friggin HTC Gallery that i had uninstalled in favor of Quickpic..... DOH! Freind Stream uses the HTC Gallery to open pics, which is actually pretty cool, because you then have all the options to share, etc. More and more i am realizing that you just can't mess with Sense, it's all so interwoven.
Thanks Undead for the help and sorry for the waste of time.

Ah yeah, my bad, i been deleting the stock gallery from my phones for so long, it didn't occur to me it could be an issue. I guess Sense is a different animal.... it's been pretty much all CM on my G2 , so i thought i'd get a feel for Sense for once.

HTC Sense force closes since root?

Anyone else getting HTC Sense force closes now that they've rooted their Slide?
I never got them before, but now they happen periodically. It's not terribly annoying but inconvenient sometimes.

Try going back to stock and then re-rooting ? Sometimes things don't go right during the process.
My HTC Sense sometimes closes due to low memory, I get no Force close error message though.
The only thing i've had FC since rooting (but I dont think it's related) is my wifi calling app. It worked right after rooting but I changed the lcd density and some keys in the keymap. Oh and also installed a ton of other apps.
So I don't think my issue is related to root. Did you install a bunch of apps after rooting?

That shouldn't cause sense to FC.
I just found out that my wifi calling is FC'ing because of my lcd density.
I have it set to 190. It will FC at that. If I set it back to 240 it works.
I'm going to try 200, cause 190 is rather small with sense. on CM, 190 is perfect on my g2 but it doesn't look as small as it does on this version of sense.
Also, i have seen some WEIRD stuff with android. I rooted a friends g2 and as soon as it booted up and he logged in with HIS gmail account, EVERYTHING would start to force close. But if his wife logged in with hers (after a fresh reflash of the rom) the phone was fine. Likewise if he logged on her rooted g2 with his google account. He finally figured out it was because he checked the backup/sync box during the account setup. Once he unchecked that (but only for his account) the phone was fine.
I doubt this is what's causing your issue but try it, remove your google account and see if your FC stops, then readd it.

[Q] Problems with contacts app constant FC.

I've been getting constant FC's while opening my contacts list lately (process.android.acore, or is it android.process.acore, it's either of those) and I'm running out of ideas on how to fix it. I've applied all the ROMs available for this device (yes factory reset in recovery, wiped and reformatted the usuals, fixed permissions, etc) and regardless of each fresh install, each ROM always FC's with the same .acore crash when going through my phone contacts. The rest of the system apps and everything else works fine, just no access to contacts for longer than 5 seconds. Was hoping I could find an answer from someone more tech savvy than myself, as I do not know where in the system directories .acore files reside, let alone how to alter them. Thanks to anyone that can help me through this annoyance.

I guess Its possible it could be a hardware issue. Out of curiousity do you use titanium backup or anyother backup service?
Sent from my Senseless Doubleshot using xda premium
Ofcourse But the last time I manually restored using Norton Utilities, only installing the apps I used the most, and got the same result. I even tried using a contacts app from another source, moved the original app to the sdcard and renamed the new one in its place using root exp, changed the permissions to what they needed to be, then I found myself without a working dialer app...lol

It would seem that the contacts app is deeply rooted in the sense build, although it still FC's while using other launchers.

A lot of things rely on then to function. Freezing isn't the same; I freeze Wifi Calling with no issues but when I try to uninstall it I get constant force closes every second until I do a battery pull, and that's on a bit of propriety software! I sincerely doubt letting Messaging or the like exist is hurting you enough to warrant risking potently annoying problems

Those apps are tied to android system dunno why it wont give fc on freeze since its almost the same as uninstalling them. But ya if you did delete those you would get tons of fc on startup and be forced to do a battery pull and reflash rom or backup.

If you are on a stock rom and delete system apps you can never install any future OTA updates. The updates check all system files first and make sure they are unchanged. If you freeze apps you just defrost them before installing an OTA. If you deleted them then no chance of OTA update, period. If you are not on a stock rom then it doesn't matter. You might wind up with a continuous force close issue that requires reflashing the rom.

I got rid of stock browser and tmobile stuff off of my phone and didn't receive FC's.
The downside ro this is if you remove the browser or anything when you do a hard reset it won't be there so you have to rely on a back up and be careful what you unistall.
I learned that the hard way when i first started with android. I unistalled swype since i use SwiftKey but did a hard reset to clear everything out and well i couldn't log in to my google account at the beginning because there was no virtual keyboard to use.

[REQ] WHOOPS! Deleted a system app!

Hey everybody, I made a mistake and toasted the Social Networking application out of my system/app by mistake LOL! Could somebody please share theirs? Thanks all!
Hope this is the right one...

if those aren't it, i just uploaded the system/app folder
Interesting it did not work, moved the files into system/app with root explorer and setup permissions. Would not install or open, I guess I shall try to download that entire package and try that one?
Try rebooting after you get the missing apps back where you need them and hopefully you will get it squared away. Done the same thing on my OG ATRIX and learned really quick that blur ties into a lot of the operating system. Made me a quick believer n Bloat Freezer Funny what one missing app will do.
Restart did not do it either. I just want to make sure all my apps are when an update rolls around

[Q] Backing up user dictionary before flashing?

Hi,
I have searched for the answer but can not seem to find anyone that has asked this previously, so here goes.
Is there a way to back up my user dictionary before I flash a new rom so that I don't have to start with a blank dictionary every time I flash?
I flash new roms frequently and this would be very very very helpful for me!!!
Download "my backup root" from market. You can backup everyhing with that.

Thanks, I'm backing up as I type. I have tried Titanium for backup, but I know that it causes FC problems when you restore. Does backing up with this app have the same problems?

Sorry, I just figured that this would be the best place to ask the question considering the fact that the people who view this thread have probably had the same problem at some point since it is extremely annoying to start the dictionary over every time. I apologize for a wrongly placed post. I am pretty new, and will know better next time.

Yeah it happens a lot here and people will start bashing on you lol.
Anyways, I always use titanium backup. Any app will give you a force close if you restore incorrectly. For example, if switching over to a different rom like from froyo to gingerbread, it's usually best to start fresh by restoring the app without data. But if you're just updating, you don't need to do anything.
I experienced a lot of force closes when i went from infused 2.2.3 to MIUI. So I had to start fresh.

Yea I guess it isn't really a "development" question, but I figured the people in here would be able to help me best. I mean it could have been worse... at least I didn't ask something like "how do you adjust the brightness, the screen really hurts my eyes!" or something like that haha
I am just wanting to switch from MIUI to CM7 right now, so hopefully there wont be any FC problems on this one

For me "user dictionary backup" and titanium ... both wont work,
It just learns from facebook and gmail.
If anyone have solution to this ... kindly message me,
I need to backup my learned words.
