[Q] Frustrated with radio upgrade for Legend - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
I've benn researching the forum for three days now, also on google, but I can't solve my problem. I'm not use to ask anything since I find the answer on the internet almost everytime, but not this time. So let me first apologize for wasting your time with my problem.
Ok, here's the thing. I have a Legend with Cyanogenmod 7.1, HBoot 1.00 and S-ON. I've tried EVERYTHING i read online to flash the radio from 7.05.35.26L, trying to do every step in all possible ways, but with no success and a big amount of frustration.
I haven't found that any of the characteristics I posted earlier are an issue. I might be wrong, I don't know, I don't really know what else to try.
Apart from the frustration, I feel like an ass for not being able to pull this off.
Anyway, I hope you guys can give me hand here, I really am out of ideas.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Will

Also stuck with the radio update.

To make it short, got almost same config as the above phone, and found a radio version Radio_47.54.35.20U_7.13.35.13_signed.zip
Problem is (i finally figured out) that this version uses Amend scripting and the new CM7.1.0 requires EDIFY Scripting.
As im a n00b in this area, i tried finding a tool, and amend2edify seemed as a answer.
Sadly no, as i get an error (something like missing the radio.img int the tmp)
Tryed to update using the radio.img directly but seems i cant as im not rooted with Radio S-off and Eng S-OFF..
Any suggestions would be appreciated, my GPS is still inactive, i can turn it on and off, but the GPS test says it never finds a sat.
Have a great weekend

OS Stability issues after installing SIM unlock application

Hi everyone. Sorry in advance if I annoy any users with my lack of ROM troubleshooting experience.
So I purchased and applied the SIM unlock tool. I flashed the SPL, the Radio, and performed the security unlock and everything worked all peachy and happy-like. I do have to report a very nasty side-effect I've been experiencing since I applied the tools: My WM 6.1 OS gets very unstable at random times. It will run absolutely fast and fine for a bit, then it become absolutely unstable to the point where it does not power itself off via power button and I have to yank the battery. I just wanted to ask what may be causing this stability issue. I tried searching for a similar problem on this and other forums, but not much has come of it.
I have already hard-reset my OS back to all defaults and it still will act out this way. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do? I have tried looking around for the stock radio and SPL to see if restoring it back would fix the problem, but I am not 100% sure which one I should use. Any help would be really great.
Thanks everyone.
Hmm, thanks for the report.
I was thinking of trying the Sim unlocker but want to see what develops of this.
Did you try asking in the Sim unlock thread as well? I'm still busy catching up on the thread...
I fixed the problem. I followed the advice from the video on pocketnow.
I can't post link. I'm still listed as a "new user".
He ran the program, and then AFTERWARDS he downloaded the 2.23.00WU radio from the forum post here on xda.
I re-security locked the phone and changed the radio from the 2.23.00WU to 1.96.00WF. I looked around on google and found it - I'll post link if anyone needs me to find again. I'm not sure, but I believe that the 1.96.00 is the stock version.
Anyways, the stability issues went away completely. I am not sure if that version has the US GSM frequencies on it and I have not tried security unlocking the phone again (I'm just happy to have a working device at the moment). Just wanted to post about what happened.
EDIT: Still not sure if 1.96.00WF is stock but it is not unlocked. I will try the 1.96.10WU sprint version and see if that works ok.
best bet

SORRY! >.< [for those who tried Tinny fix zip]

Dear community,
I sincerely apologize. I seriously did not think that would've happened. Honestly it was my first time and I thought it would work, as I had performed the update on my friend's Inspire 4G and it worked [Honeysense HD]. I didn't doublecheck the script in there, and that was my error. I really am sorry.
I am currently trying to redo it and this time, I will gather a bunch of my friends in order to test it out on several devices and several different roms. If it works again, I'll post it with caution in case anyone else seems to be having problems (when I first flashed CM7's fix, it sent the phone into a bootloop and stopped the phone from working).
Once again, I apologize for such a noob mistake. I honestly thought it would work and I will never, ever let that happen again. I'm only trying to learn more about the android system, and I wanted to help out, even though I didn't have a Inspire.
If anyone's phone was damaged, please PM me. >.<

I didn't flash your fix, but thanks for the apology.
Just so you know, you don't need to go to the trouble of testing it and posting it again. This fix isn't needed. All of the ROMs in the Inspire section either come with the fix already in place, or they've got a fix that is flashed separately, that has already been tested by the dev of that ROM. For a "universal" tinny fix, there is already a thread for this. So any additional tinny fixes are simply not needed.
Tough lesson, but great way to deal with it! Mistakes are only n00b the second time you make them!

[Q] need a push in the right direction

hey guys im new to the scene and trying to figure as much stuff out on my own as i can, usually i do a good job and don't need to ask for help. but i do when i have to, so the problem i am having is with a sony xperia play .
its my brothers phone and i was thinking about getting one but i want to "root" it and see whats what with it but i am trying to do so without unlocking the bootloader just incase anything goes wrong with it later so it remains under warranty. im coming from the iphone jail-breaking scene so this is a little different. but i want to give it a go. so i'm trying to root it i checked out this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765&page=1
i realize at the top of the post it says not all devices are supported because of new FW's does the FW i am on fall in this category?
i tried it with the 1.2.apk and the 1.1
im not sure why it is not working.
but i have a feeling its got something to do with the FW the phone has come with
its running 2.3.3
build number 3.0..1.A.0.145
model number r800i
kernal version 2.6.32.9-perf
i formatted the SD card before anything then after i installed gingerbreak to the phone itself. (also tried it without formatting it, i installed gingerbreak and tried to run it then and it didnt work so i rebooted formatted SD card and tried again and still nothing)
made sure the phone was set to be in USB debugging mode.
gingerbreak opens and has the options there but when i tap "root device" it just says "running exploit" ect on screen and nothing changes. on the post it says usually about 10 minutes but i read through it and one person said it worked for theirs but it took an hour and a half, but another said it took 3-5 minutes.
so i do not know what i am doing wrong. but i have a feeling its the FW it has come with out of the box but i have not been able to find out any information about it as of yet.
i have found another post saying to flash it with a UK generic FW 2.3.2 .184
but im guessing i cannot downgrade to a FW that was not on the phone from packaging. although i may be wrong but that is usually the norm with this kind of thing.
any help in getting me in the right direction is greatly appreciated, and i hope to be able to help others in the future. yes it doesn't seem like i am of much help right now seeing as i can't even get it rooted yet. but i tend to pick up on things very fast. today i am having trouble getting in to it. but soon enough i will get there thank you to anyone who read this i know it is a little long but i wanted to make sure i gave as much information as possible to make sure i haven't left out something critical if i have left out anything let me know and once again thank you for taking the time to read this post and reply (if you did reply =] )
BUMP -- ?
anyone available who can help me out at all
i know im new to the forum/site but please don't let that stop any of you. if that is stopping you
ive done as much searching as i can and i keep drawing up blanks.

[Q] ?: what is a radio?

I've been modding phones for around a year now, and have gotten a few friends into switching up ROM's on their phones as well. A question was brought up to me recently and I realized that I didn't have a good answer to give them, and after some searching realized that this hasn't been answered anywhere (at least that I could find). I searched google for around 1l2 an hour and probably close to 20 min here on XDA.
What does the "radio" do?
Why do you need to update it for certain ROM's?
Why would a bad radio file brick a phone?
Thanks in advance for your answers guys, I really appreciate it.

the "radio" is the coding in the software that interacts with a nearby tower or cell site.
some roms need it because they work better on them, call clarity, etc etc. unless you really really really know what you are doing, i would not recomend it, Cyanogenmod 7 and many other roms work fine with the default radio in the phones.
it can brick a phone because the radio is part of the software, if it doesn't load right, the phone will more or less shut down or fry (Brick)
as the radio is the first thing that boots up when you turn on your phone, flashing the wrong radio will brick your phone and cause it to be stuck (at the splash screen)

[Q] A few questions about Revolutionary, etc.

Hey everybody.
You guys have been quite helpful so far and I'm hoping you'll be able to help me again.
So, yesterday evening I decided to try the whole root/s-off thing with my HTC Sensation 4G (Virgin Mobile Canada) and it took a few tries for it to read my phone, but it eventually worked. Excited, I figured the process was nearing completion!
Then I got the point where it was telling me, "Zerging root, this may take a minute.." and it did take a minute, and just kept sitting there. I left it for maybe... 20 minutes? Nothing changed or happened and eventually gave up.
Am I missing something here? I was following the instructions and tried numerous times.
On my final attempt, Revolutionary would just close as soon as I opened the program.
I'm going to re-download it later and see if it works a bit better this time...
Anyways, just hoping someone else has experienced something similar or knows what's up.
Thanks everybody!
It sounds like you have the male disease Of not reading the instructions carefully and following them in the same manner
