Internal storage - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hey guys, I am new to samsung and the infuse and just wondering if it is smart to clear out the internal memory in between flashes. I always used to clear my external with my old htc phones and just wondering if it is the same for the internal on the infuse. Sorry if this has already been asked but the search feature on the mobile app is crappy.

There's no need to do anything other than a factory reset and cache wipe if you're flashing a new ROM (and you can generally go between ROM's of the same base with just the cache wipes). If you run into problems, try flashing back to stock first, and if you still have problems you can try the Unbrick stock reflash and reformatting the internal memory.

[Q] wiping xoom/stupid question

so i feel silly for having to ask but the xoom is the first device ive used that had a fair amount of on board storage. basically im wondering if all that on board storage is wiped when i wipe my xoom to run an ics rom? i rooted out of the box so it wouldnt have been an issue initially and now im concerned because ive got almost the entire 32gb full of movies and pics and want to try an ics rom but need to know if a backup of all that on my pc is necessary. Thanks in advance for answering my stupid question

If you have the R4c 3.2.0.0 solarnz CWM recovery installed, that bypasses the internal media storage and won't wipe it. You will have to reinstall your apps and associated data.
Thank you!!!! That's great info. I got worried when I remembered u can't just remove the SD to be sure my stuff is safe

Rogue recovery will also not wipe the media, unless specificed to.

[Q] How to free up more internal phone storage?

I have a Motorola triumph cell phone, which is on the stock rom that came with the phone. All I did is root it, put clockworks recovery on it and add a 32GB micro SD card in the micro SD card slot. I am getting two messages on the phone -
1- Text message memory full. Incoming message rejected due to full memory.
2- Low on space. Phone storage space is getting low.
I have cleared all the cache, text messages, and e-mail from the phone. That still did not work. So since my phone is rooted I installed an app that would let me move apps to the SD card. I moved all the apps that I could to the SD card. What do you know that still did not work. After doing all of this I am still getting the two messages. I do not want to factory reset the phone and loose everything on the phone. Right now the memory is like this -
1 - SD card total space 29.71GB Available space 16.96GB
2 - Internal phone storage available space 28.39MB
What else can I do to clear up more internal memory on the phone?
Apparently this is a problem with other people also and the only way around this is to install after market firmware like CyanoGenMod. I use Minimum triumph myself.
What is the best rom for the phone? I am reading that with some roms some stuff does not work. I want everything to work like stock rom. Is there a good rom that has everything working?
You can factory reset your phone. That will fix it.
You can root the phone and delete the .alog files (those are the ones that keep building and take up all the space).
There are a couple other options as well, besides flashing a custom ROM. It has been discussed multiple times over at androidforums.com. I would recommend going there to get the details.

this link will direct u to the best rom i ever used, personally.
I just delete the bloat ware from system/app...all that stock crap...But the best way is to flash a new rom
I had to do a factory reset. I was warned not to do it from the settings favtory reset. Use the factory reset from the custom recovery.

If you are using the original software that came with the phone, there are "a log" files that will build up and need to be deleted. I would recommend installing a customized rom to help free up some space and performance, as well as a lot of other cool features to make the phone better. Stock just won't cut it on this phone.
Space Problem and ROMs
My sister had a the same problem with her Droid Incredible. It went away for a while after a factory reset but came back within a month.
I'd suggest looking into a good ROM even if you weren't having this issue. Mantera over at android forums has a really nice CM9 alpha (it's what I'm using) and it's pretty great if you don't mind not having HDMI or camera (that will hopefully get fixed soonish). If you're cool with CM7, g60madman picked up where Whyzor left off and is providing regular updates so far to address bugs.
I'm confused. Why did you get an app to move apps to SD? The stock rom supports app2sd already. Just go to settings and apps. Click an app in the list to see the properties page. Should see a button to move to SD. Not all apps can be moved but the huge ones usually can.
Why?

Because many App2SD apps allow you to do batch moving, where you can select what you want to move. Then, all you have to do is press OK and tap Move to SD Card and press back when done to move to the next app from the checklist you basically just made. They also may support extra actions, such as warn you if moving an app to an SD card will disable any of its functionalities.

[Q] First flash on NS4G- move data? GPS?

came from epic 4g touch due to lack of JB with decent battery life, have been running stock locked NS4G for about a week and a half. Now that I know I'm okay with stock and can return to it if custom ROM silliness ensues, I am going to start flashing, a couple questions first.
No SD card caught me by surprise. Is it necessary to move pics/music off, will those get wiped too? Or does that only happen when unlocking? I have no app data that I'm worried about, just don't want to have to move music/pics on/off the internal SD over and over again.
Most E4GT JB roms required flashing back to GB, getting a GPS lock, then flashing JB, or GPS wouldn't work. Are there any things like that to deal with? Not referring to cache and dalvik wipes, I'm comfortable with those. That said, will those wipe the music/pic files too? It has been at least 8 years since I've had a phone w/o and ext card, still getting my head around the implications.
tia
There are no implications. The nexus S has an internal sd card. It acts the same as an external sd card with the exception of not being replaceable. Wiping data only wipes rom data and not internal sd card data.
Sent from my Nobody Cares.
When u unlock your boot loader, it will wipe your internal SD card. So I would back up what u wanna keep on your computer. After that u don't have to worry about it.
What rustyjay said. You'll have to move stuff off & back to sd once and gps not an issue. & when you wipe between flashing, wipe data, cache & dalvik. This is proper & will not wipe sd.

roms take more space after being flashed
so to increase your memory you can uninstall unwanted system apps and other apps and after that boot into recovery and wipe cache partition and then reboot you will really have more free space
also
you are having space issues right??
dont you use sd card ??

If you do the correct wipes and install an aftermarket ROM, is should take up less space. Most aftermarket ROMs are quite a bit smaller than the stock ROMs. There are a few running around in this forum that are heavily bloated with stuff to make the Tab more media friendly, but these are the exceptions. With that being said, did you do a clean wipe prior to install? If not, that's the issue. There's some left over data in there. Also, the memory is partitioned into sections, one for the ROM and one for storage. Getting a SD would be good so you can store your backups there. Backups take up a lot of memory.

GUYS..... first of all thank you so much for taking the time to respond. this has been a thorn in my side for a while now.. i do indeed have an sd and prior to the switch from stock to cm10.2 i was able to employ the ext script to swap memory which worked well overall. i do not know of any viable way to employ any memory swap script or app thast works well with cm10.2 i have done a great deal of research and i have not seen anything.. im also not a noob but i do feel like on right now!!!! this is so annoying. here are my questions:
do you know of any app to sd applications that work with cm10.2?
do you know of anyway to install apps to the card?
as for the wipe.... yes I did wipe completely ( at least I thought I did) I wiped data, system, cache, dalvik, and then formatted system, cache, data then wiped then cleared dalvik again prior to rebooting. this was thorough and typically what i do when I flash.
im totally open to suggestions. as of now the tab is pretty much rendered useless because I cannot even update apps. it only sees 4.59gb of the onboard space and the entire 16gb of the ext card.
thanks !!!!!!!!!!!

Galaxy s4 internal memory problem.

I am using galaxy s4 gt i9500. The internal memory available for the 16gb variant is about 8 gb, out of which i have hardly used 1 gb. I don't know where the rest of the memory has gone. Is it possible to format or something(except the factory reset; it didn't help) like we can format the sd card. Any help is appreciated!
Thanks a lot!

A large amont of the space is your rom im guessing around 3-5gb then u have probly another 2-3gb for ur stock apps then anything u install after that. They say 16/32/64 or 128 on the box but thats never the room u get software always takes up a large portion. Luckily ur device has a sd card slot i believe so u can use that to expande ur storge for a relatively cheap price.
If you need more room on the device you can always root and install custom software or uninstall apps with titanium backup but be careful read the guides in your device forum and follow them properly.
Root your phone and install link2sd.this will solve your storage problem.
First of all your rom will take a lot, second of all your apps and your old apps data incase you used a custom recovery to factory reset, and third of all Cashe it self could reach up to 1 gb.

I understand that the rom may take a large amount of memory but i dont think so that it can take upto 7-8 gb. I have cleared all the cache so it cannot be cache either. I think i may have used custom recovery to factory reset. But when i use file manager to view my internal the total is around only 400 mb including all the folders (like android, dcim, etc)
Btw, I'm running cm12.1. Do you think reverting back to my stock rom would help?
Please help as this is really irritating because most of my apps crash due to low memory.
Thanks.

Yup the issue is that you used a costume recovery to factory reset, I had that issue as well with my note 3 until I realized that all apps data were installed but I didn't see them even on file manager, so I just downloaded a stock firmware and did a stock factory reset and then everything was good as new!
