What are you trying to flash? What did you try to use to "restore"?
Load cm or miui and flash. You can mount sd card from recovery. and I say cm or miui because they run off of any bootloader

You need CWM installed then you remove the bad ROM.. Least that is how I've always done it
Reflash CWM Recovery, download this stock Nandroid and extracted it to your clockworkmod/backup folder then restore it in the CWM Recovery

I tried searching, but the search is down?
I have spent several hours looking.
I used odin (phone went into download mode without issue) to put my phone back to stock so I could get the ota update.
Went back into download mode with Odin to install CWM, this "passed" and after a restart my phone went into samsung recovery, not CWM.
Now my phone will not go into download mode? I tried different cable, ports, etc.
any help?
so what is it doing since it's not going into download mode.
it wouldn't do anything, I finally reinstalled the drivers and after holding down the power and volume - let go... nothing! push the volume - twice and it went into download mode. Odin recognizes it and goes through the motion, but the phone has a AX_timeout in red at the top left corner of the screen?
Odin continues and say's passed, but when I try to reboot into CWM it hangs on the samsung logo.
It will not boot into recovery, but it will start the phone and everything seems to work.
im using odin 1.83 / windows 7 64bit.
Remove the battery, put the phone in download mode, put the battery back in, and flash CWM. Before you fully boot the OS, flash a custom kernel. If you don't flash a custom kernel, the default kernel will overwrite CWM with the default recovery.

I would try using odin v1.82... My experience with this tool has told me that our charge doesnt always "play nice" with other versions... Also try redownloading the latest CWM, you could of had a bad download.

Also in my experience I have had CWM recovery with the stock kernel... So something seems funny, stock kernel must not always overwrite custom cwm... Hmmmm. Who can help us here....????

If you happen to flash a ROM that doesn't include the script that the kernel calls for the overwrite, then you could have ended up with CWM on a stock kernel.

There's a script, can't remember where it's at, that is run at boot to replace the recovery. If that script is not there, it doesn't get replaced. All custom roms have it removed.

There is. You can download the Superuser CWM to your phone, flash CWM, boot immediately to CWM (don't let it boot normally), flash Superuser, and reboot.
At that point, if you desire, you can delete /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and reflash CWM if you want to keep it.

hi i need help i flash back to stock whit heimdall .. but now im trying to install the unnoficial ... from red recovery everything works but when i reboot after the second flash it just reboots again and again on recovery
wtf now im stuck on 3e recovery
Sometimes I get stuck like that after I flash back to stock. Try wiping the cache in 3e recovery and rebooting. That fixes it for me usually. If not, maybe you could flash again. Hope this helps.

So i downloaded rom manager from the market. I went to flash clockworkmod recovery to the phone and selected verizon galaxy s3. It progressed a certain amount then stopped responding. I'm a bit hesitant to reboot my phone but should this have worked?
I'm rooted and unlocked bootloader.

Try reflashing or ditch Rom Manager and use EZ-Recovery to flash CWM 6.0.1.0.

I did it a second time and it asked for SU. Seemed to go through. I'm going to reboot and see if it works.
Do not use ROM manager, just use EZ Recovery from the market.
Is there something wrong with ROM manager?

It didn't brick his phone, for some reason the first time you flash cwm from rom manager, it hangs when it's about to ask for SU permissions, it force closes. Second time it will go through, doesn't brick your phone or anything of that nature.

I don't believe you can hard brick a phone from a recovery. You can always flash the stock recovery.img and be fine. I used ez recovery and chose custom and selected CMW 6 flashed, said ok, rebooted and the phone automatically went into download mode and would not boot up. All i did was flash the recovery.img i pulled from cmw non touch and flashed recovery and all was good.

The nvflash put you back to stock download the rom you want boot into recovery wipe cache data flash rom flash gapps .should be good you might need to reflash cwm recovery if you pushed the wrong button in nvflash.
