Great GUI yossio, Runs very smoothly.
Just a quick question:
If i use up to 39 images, it runs fine on my phones.
But if i use any more the 39 images, it always causes "Force Closes" when i try to apply the installed wallpaper.
I've had a look but can't find a reason why this is happening.
Any idea why this might be happening?
The 2 phones i'm using are:
* SE Xperia Play (2.3.4)
* HTC Desire (2.3)
Thanks.
well i got it to work with 300 images. what is the size of the apk? live wallpapers that are big tend to crash. also, you might wanna play with the settings and see if it runs on a smaller scale. i can take a look and test your apk, send an email to [email protected]
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
got your email. something with the image file names is strange... can you attach the gif file or sen via email?
thanx
After a long night of trial and error this is where i'm at.
I tested an apk (created by irkkso) which uses 149 images and it installed and ran without any problems on both my phones.
I unpacked his apk and used those 149 images to create 2 new apk's using 1st: your LWPCreatorb1, then 2nd: using Daneshm90's LWP2.6.
I then tried both apk file on both phones: Installed fine but when selecting the wallpaper they cause "Force Closes" everytime.
Now the weird part:
i run both LWPCreatorb1 and LWP2.6 again after deleting 110 of the images to leave only 39 images.
The apk files from both creators now work Perfectly on both phones.
Why using any more then 39 images causes "Force Closes" has me stumped
I've Tried:
*Windows 7 32bit & 64bit
*Windows XP 32bit
*Windows 7 32bit - Fresh OS install, Java 6u62, Net Framework 4.0
*Windows 7 32bit - Fresh OS install, Java 6u62, Net Framework 3.5
It can't be Java right? Java's only used here to sign the apk's.
It can't be the image files, because these test were done with images taken from irkkso's apk which worked fine.
It could be Net Framework..... but i doubt it.
Is there something i'm missing here? hmmmmm.
yep it must be the bat file.... i'll dig into it tonight...
thank you so much for the feedback!
Any Luck???
Love what you have made here and the fact that it will work with the newer versions of android. I am getting an error when I use this, where it really messes up the place images and puts them out of sequence. Any idea what is going on with this? I had tried to use 157 images, and am about to test it with much less to try and find out were the problem lies.
Ok so image size doesn't seem to be an issue for me. However I am getting a weird error with my image sequences. For most of my sequences it will not recognize the first image n01 and then it renames the tenth image as n010 and leaves n10 as a blank spot just as it does with the first. I did get one image sequence to work without any flaws, all the settings and namings for the images is exactly the same so I don't know where the problem is.
Hey, I tried installing the software but it crashed right after while trying to run.
I just get an error message when I try to open it:

This is the same issue that I am having. If you check the output folder after it compiles the apk you will see that it is leaving some of the number spots as blank jpegs, ussually around n10.
i think i found out the faulty script line i'll try fixing it this weekend ... i'll post the update here
Thank you for fast reply.
Last question. Could I use my personal key to sign the apk while compiling with your creator?
that is working already I just need some time compiling and uploading
Promise, this weekend it will be here
Cool man, I will donate in few days to keep good work.
Animation Speed
Is there a way to control how fast the animation runs, i.e. how quick it switches between images?
Plus how is the new version coming along?

However I am getting the force close error like others. My wallpaper is 139 images.

As I mentioned in another thread, I was intrigued by Ruvort's modifications to the Asus MyWater live wallpaper over at xoomforums.com and some of the work from similar xda developers threads here and here.
The most common issue with using these modified live wallpapers is that they simply replace the default Asus MyWater live wallpaper, which limits you to having one at a time and causes additional difficulties for Transformer owners since the Asus MyWater live wallpaper is a system application. I have been in contact with Ruvort and plan on working with him to re-release his live wallpapers with the necessary adjustments so that they can all coexist and multiple flavors can be installed at the same time; even on non-rooted tablets.
These reworked MyWater live wallpapers are my initial step into the arena of editing APK files. They can be installed and uninstalled like any other application, however allowing installation of non-Market applications is required. I should note that in order to prove out some edits I made to the smali disassembly files, I adapted Ruvort's excellent work for the beer w/ lime wallpaper and I hijacked his idea for the ducky wallpaper.
Update: On a whim, I decided to check the alignment of the APK files using zipalign. I found that the resources in the wallpapers needed adjustment, so I have corrected the alignment for all the attached wallpapers. If you downloaded and installed any wallpaper from this post prior to June 24th 2011, I recommend replacing with an optimized version.
Update 2: It has been discovered that these live wallpapers have issues when running on ICS. I am aware of the issues and have been working toward a solution (one recent attempt here). While workarounds have been reported, I have not tried any of them myself and prefer to address the problem at its source. Once I am confident that I have things working correctly, I intend on starting a new thread to feature the updated, ICS-friendly designs. Stay tuned...

Creating the Reworked MyWater Wallpapers
The following is an overview of the process I followed in creating the live wallpapers found in the first post. These instructions are intended to serve as a guide to those interested in creating their own modifications.
Prerequisites
Asus MyWater APK (you can grab a copy here)
android-apktool - tool for reengineering Android apk files (here)
roptipng - modification to OptiPNG PNG optimizer (here)
SignApk.jar - (Google search)
zipalign - archive alignment tool (included in Android SDK)
Step 1 - Decoding the APK
Using apktool, decode the APK to retrieve the resources into nearly original form. In this example, the decoded files are placed in a directory called MyWaterDir.
Code:
apktool decode MyWater.apk MyWaterDir
Step 2 - Modifying the package name
The package name is a unique identifier used by Android to manage the installed applications. The easiest package name modification simply involves changing all instances of asus to another unique identifier.
Using your favorite editor (I like gVim), modify the package name found in MyWaterDir/AndroidManifest.xml (com.asus.livewallpaper) and MyWaterDir/res/xml/glwallpaper.xml (com.asus.livewallpaper.gl.MyWaterSettings). There are only 2 instances of the package name in the XML files.
The package name is also embedded in the smali disassembly files (MyWaterDir/smali/com/asus/livewallpaper/gl/*.smali). In all, there are 1791 instances of the package name in the smali files that must be updated. My recommendation is to find an editor that makes it easy to perform a global search and replace.
The package name must also match the folder hierarchy under the smali folder (MyWaterDir/smali/com/asus/livewallpaper/gl/). Change the name of the asus folder to match the new unique identifier selected for the application.
Step 3 - Update the application name and settings text
Using your favorite editor, modify the text found in MyWaterDir/res/values/strings.xml. Rather than worry about translations for my updated text, I chose to remove all but the default by deleting the MyWaterDir/res/values-XX folders (keep values-large).
Step 4 - Update the image resources
The image resources are found in MyWaterDir/res/drawable-mdpi. You can modify these images or use your own. For the purpose of this tutorial there is a requirement that they maintain the original file naming scheme. It is also important to note that if you provide an image with different dimensions, it will be scaled to match the dimensions of the original image. Modifications to the smali disassembly files are required to overcome this limitation.
As an optional step, you can optimize the PNG image resources to reduce their size.
Code:
roptipng -o7 MyWaterDir/res/drawable-mdpi/*.png
Step 5 - Build the APK
Now that the desired modifications have been made, build the APK using apktool.
Code:
apktool build MyWaterDir MyWaterModified_unsigned.apk
Step 6 - Sign the APK
The Android system requires that all installed applications be digitally signed with a certificate whose private key is held by the application's developer. I followed the instructions found here or here for generating my keys and using them to sign the APK. It should also be possible to sign the APK using the approach recommended at developer.android.com.
Code:
java -jar signapk.jar certificate.pem key.pk8 MyWaterModified_unsigned.apk MyWaterModified_signed.apk
Step 7 - Zipalign the APK
Zipalign the APK to optimize the way it is packaged in order to enable the Android operating system to interact with the application more efficiently. The benefit of this step is a reduction in the amount of RAM consumed when running the application.
Code:
zipalign -f -v 4 MyWaterModified_signed.apk MyWaterModified.apk
________________________
The truly adventurous can take a stab at modifying the smali disassembly prior to building the APK. The syntax is a bit difficult to follow at first, but with proper modifications you can adjust the image dimensions, rendering locations, and much more. I found it useful to pull the classes.dex file from the APK, convert it from .dex to .class format using dex2jar, and then browse the reconstructed source using JD-GUI. It is important to remember that the reconstructed source is not a 100% match to the original source code. However, it is useful for comparing against and understanding the corresponding smali source.

Thanks for documenting the process
These are great, thanks so much for your effort here.
Fantastic work man.
I appreciate the praise I've received for this work. I took a couple hours this evening to throw together another version containing one of my favorite lake monsters. Nessie is definitely one of the biggest "ice cubes" I've used for these wallpapers.
It might be worth pointing out that in order to render "ice cube" images larger than the original 324 x 226 ice cube, the GLIceItem constructor should be edited to specify the desired dimensions.
I spent a little while playing around with this this evening, and came up with a rough version of one of my own. It needs some refining, and I'll work on it some more when I get a little time. You need to turn off the rotate with screen setting for it to work properly with the background. I'd like to figure out a way to make the background rotate and move with the water, but that will take some time.
I've attached a screen shot. I don't think I can attach a file from tapatalk, so I'll try to attach the apk later.
Edit: Apk is attached.
Let me know what you guys think. If anyone has any suggestions, especially regarding having the background rotate, please let me know. Thanks.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
EDIT: The lighthouse/landscape is now part of the floating element, so it floats and rotates with the buoy. It has a noticeably different effect, almost as if you are moving with the water instead of the other way around. Anyway, take a look at it and let me know what you think.
Here's my second attempt. This one rotates just fine.
Thanks to you, it's nice.
If you know how to make a babe on a air mattress ....
Like that for ex :
There are a lot of possibilities for these wallpapers.
While I prefer to distance myself from using copyrighted images, the Jaws and Winnie the Pooh movie posters could provide some inspiration.

Good job guys, this is awesome. Look forward to see what else people come up with. It will be much better to have them co-exisiting but its hardly the end of the world to install small packages when you want to change
keep it coming guys. I love those wallpapers and I hope we see some more in the future. I would like to see the duck with a different background.....Thanks for sharing.

}
4. Run Script.bat
5. Type 22 and then chose the apk you would like to edit, once that is done then next use option 1 to extract the apk
6. Browse over to the project folder and look for your extracted apk
7. Now head into
res/drawable-mdpi/ and locate the icon.
*Note* Some APKs do not have this folder, the icon may also be located in
res/drawable/ or
res/drawable-hdpi
8. Go online and find a high resolution icon, then use photoshop or any image editor to cleanup and resize the icon to 192x192
9. Once you have the hi res version of the icon go ahead and replace the lower resolution one.
10. In APK Manager, choose option 3 (Zip apk),
then option 2 (Regular apk <Removes signature for re-signing>)
11. Once that competes it will take you back to the main menu of APK Manager, Now choose option 4 (Sign apk <Dont do this if its a system apk>)
12. If everything was successful you should now see two apks in your modding folder
13. Take the signed version of the apk and adb push it to your device, dropbox it, or copy to kindle using usb cable
14. Uninstall version if already installed and then install your modified version.
(Trying to install over a installed version results in a failure for me)
15. Icon should be nice and high res!

Nice dude! Link is up.
Does this method require a rooted device? I followed your instructions for the Facebook APK and every time I try to install it I get an error: "There was a problem parsing your file."
Try installing the current facenook app. If that doesn't work. Idk ive only tried on rooted
I pick my apps and the compression size but now when i hit extract the command prompt closes which i assume it should. But, there is nothing showing up in my projects folder.
screw it. if someones got the modified apk for draw something post it here please. free version of course.

hi, I am a new user for Kindle Fire HD, and i tried to follow the same routine to mod the Dolphin Browsers app to get a clear carousel icon.
after i change 1 icon in the apk to 256x256, and install it again, sth strange happened.
The dolphin browser icon NEVER shows again in the Carousel.....
It never shows up again after use....
does anyone have clues that how can I make that icon appear on my carousel again?
i have tried to reinstall the original apk , newer version apk, rebooting many times, but still not appear after use.....
thanks in advance!
Update: Found a solution to this. Tried to kill the "launcher" service by a task managing app, (AirDroid) thinks any of these app will do, and guess even the official "force stop" button under the application menu might work also.
After that, when the launcher restart, Icons showing properly! Thanks for the Guide!
This is a great thread, now got high-res icons for most of my apps, some are hard to find images for or just don't have any decent ones to use, mainly found that to be games, also I've found replacing & rebuilding/signing some apps have a really negative affect on them, games such as Riptide GP boot up slower or some just don't load, Cut the Rope won't play it's intro video etc.
Come across this as well - developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire/cx-guidelines.html
Amazon recommends 425x425 for the KFHD 7" carousel image, that's what size I've been using & most look really nice & crisp depending on the original image quality, 256x256 I found too pixelated on the carousel but maybe that's just me
If anyone want's them I've zipped up my images I've used on my KFHD 7", not a huge amount by any means but could be helpful to some.
Most of the images are resized from 512x512 to 425x425 PNG so look great on the KFHD, a very small number are lower resolution (256x256) due to their being no higher quality versions available on the internet that I could find.
rghost.net/42367507
Also ImageTuner is a pretty decent program to resize/convert images in bulk to different sizes etc.
Hello, I'm having a problem signing the apk. It says there's an error and to check the log, and when I do, it says that the unsigned apk cannot be found. So I started checking and at first it does appear, but as soon as I try to sign it disappeared. Also, I tried the 20 option, by changing the max memory size to 256 as you suggested but it did not work.
Cannot download
I cannot download from your multiupload links, it directs me to iLivid.

Problems signing the apk
Have followed the procedure step-by-step and I get an error at step 11 after I select '4' to sign the apk. Have also tried increasing the max memory to 256 as suggested - still no luck.
Any other suggestions?
As a desperate alternative, I zipped the apk (at step 10) then selected '1' (instead of '2') so that I have an unsigned apk sitting in my modding folder, with a view to getting it signed using Sign+_v1.2.2 - this leaves me with a signed apk file but when I try to install it on my Kindle Fire HD, I get a parsing error.
Any help from anybody GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Hi!
So, here it is, my first Android app
What does it do?
Upload images to 666kb.com
What's 666kb.com?
A very simple image hoster like picasa, yfrog and hundreds of others.
Check it out: http://666kb.com/
So why 666kb.com?
Because it's simple and basic. probably as simple, basic and bare as an image hoster ever will be.
- no login
- no html around the hosted images. (hence no spammy ads)
- hard to guess urls, and no ability to browse images, so the link is the only way to get the image
just try it out and you will see what I mean.
I have nothing to do with 666kb.com, I'm just a user, so please don't bother the maintainers of it with issues regarding the app.
And what does the app do?
have a picture, share it, select 666up!...
the image is scaled down (if >666kb) and uploaded to 666kb.com.
once done you can give it a title, copy the link to the image to the clipboard, share it with the usual android sharing facility or just leave it be.
a record of all uploaded images is saved on the phone for later use.
If you launch the app, you'll see a list of previously uploaded images.
What are the use cases?
- sharing images the easy way via gtalk or other IM services.
- sharing images via SMS/txt
where I live one usually gets about 1000 SMS per month for free, but they charge a lot for MMS. So it saves money (given the recipient has internet access on the phone)
Market link?

Suggestions are of course welcome. I don't make any money with this. I developed it in my free time just because I felt the need for it. Oh, and this thread is the first form of advertisement for the app.

2012-03-03: Fixed broken apk
just realized that the apk I had on the market was broken.
Reason why it was broken:
I found a typo in the strings.xml file right after I uploaded a prior version.
I corrected the typo, exported an unsigned apk, signed it and uploaded it without testing (I know! I know!).
So, what happened was:
Eclipse somehow failed to generate those R classes and just packaged the apk without them. This is why the app failed to launch :-(
I didn't notice that because I kept using the version with the typo.
Sorry guys!
This surely qualifies as an epic fail .
New Version: ICS look, nicer thumbnails and fixed some FCs
well, 0.2.1 is out.
Whats new?
Using Holo theme on ICS.
Thumbnails are now generated according to your device's screen resolution.
Which means: nicer thumbnails on hdpi (or better) devices.
Finally got rid of all those FCs that could occur if the uploads failed and the screen is turned.
have fun!
this is great! thanks a bunch!! any possibility of adding other image hosts in the future? i usually use imageshack, and i'm sure other people have their own favourites as well. either way, this really makes it a lot simpler to post images online and you did a great job making this app fast, great looking, and most importantly, functional! looking forward to future updates - it can only get better from here
is the devil the sponsor for this app?
Well, not quite the devil. I adopted the name from the website. Which got the name from the size limit for the images. iirc, it started with 256kb.com and has meanwhile evolved to 666kb.com
But I can guarantee that the only sponsor of this app is my own curiosity about making an android app and the fact, that I felt the need for such an app and there was none. So no unholy stuff going on in the source code.. I leave this to my perl programs ;-)
I also did a small batch upload script in perl which resizes the images if they are too large, uploads them and prints the urls to the console. (I'll share it if someone is interested)
Thanks for the kind words, Bloodflame. I have multiple upload-site in mind, but most of the bigger ones already have apps. so there little need for another app unless of course all existing apps are bad and better one could be done. There is one for imageshack:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.codeminders.imageshackdroid
next in line is probably something to upload multiple images at once.
and I should address the issue, that the detail view is partly hidden when the device is held in a landscape position. maybe a scrollbar or a different layout for landscape.
Just released a new version
I've also transformed my second post into a version history post, please refer to this for details on changes.
I did a rather big change under the hood:
Including Android Beam support and exif based image rotation brakes compatibility with old android versions. So, I made 3 different APKs and uploaded them altogether.
One is specifically for Android 1.6.
Play store statistics say, there is exactly one install for this app on a 1.6 device.
So, if you have this app on a 1.6 device, I did about an hour of modification an testing just for you! ;-)
1.6 doesn't support the ExifInterface and it isn't available with the compatibility package. Therefore, no image rotation for you.
This also applies to Android Beam.
Another version for 2.0 to 3.2.
It is just missing the Android Beam feature.
And the last one for 4.0 and upwards.
I'm not yet sure how easy it is to maintain 3 versions of the app (even with git). So I'm not sure how the support of older devices will look like in the future. But I will try to keep this as backwards compatible as possible.
I have spent the last 3 or 4 days trying to find an generic image uploading app. Would you ever consider making a version that could post to a user configurable URL? And I guess a user configurable regex for the reply?
Perfect it's work fine
Thank you

This is not as straight forward as it may look like in the first place because uploads are done via a POST request. Normal URLs indicate a GET request.
If you are curious what's going on, have a look at this source file:
https://github.com/qorron/666up/blob/master/up666/src/org/qless/up666/ImageUploader.java#L119
starting with line: 119
But I'm sure that I can do this. The regex is no problem of course.
I'm on vacation until Sept. so please have a little patience. If it's ok for you I'll write you a massage once I have hacked together something.
POST is fine, I have a 30 odd line python script that handles upload already for me. I just need a app that can post and that shows up in androids share drop down list.
bump
How was your vacation?
It was fine, thanks!
The app is not quite ready yet.
The upload mechanism accepts parameter for the url and all the additional post fields.
But there is no GUI yet to type it all in.
I'll contact you once it works.
So.. I've done it.
desclaimer: this poat addresses people with at least some background in webscraping and regular rxpressions.
the apk attaches here is not intended to be used by normal users. it contains bugs and maybe cause the world to end, so be careful.
hello weedy2887,
please excuse the long delay. I had a terrible car accident (which I luckily survived without any harm) and needed some time to recover and manage things and stuff..
I've attached the apk below.
there are some bugs and unfinished stuff in it, so please use it with caution!
bugs:
if you press the buttons in the actionBar in the upload-screen while the upload has not yet finished you will get an empty message or the app will crash.
some
unfinished:
there are no sanity checks or error handling regarding the configurable upload-site feature.
e.g. if you enter an invalid regex or something like that, the app will crash.
there is no "reset to defaults (666kb.com)" button.
limitations:
apk is for android 4+
here is a short description on how this works:
base url:
Code:
http://666kb.com/u.php
this is where the action= attribute of the form points to.
file param
Code:
f
this is the name of the file parameter
additional param:
Code:
MAX_FILE_SIZE 681984
submit Speichern
these are other static parameters that are submitted along the file.
parameter_name<space>data<newline(enter, return,..)>
note: the last line is:
submit<space><space>Speichern<space><newline>
the paraneters are being sent in the order they are written in this string.
duplicates are possible and are not collapsed into one.
regex
Code:
(\Qhttp://666kb.com/i/\E.*?)"
this is to find the url of the uploaded image.
it has to contain exactly one capture group which designates the exact url of the image.
these are all the site dependent parameters.
it works for the 666kb.com site.
I haven't had the chance to test it with an other site because the only other site simmilar to 666kb.com I knew (777kb.com[1]) seems to be down or gone completely. so there may be some things which I have forgotten.
[1] 777kb.com was a copycat of 666kb.com with the difference: 777kb max. image size. images are deleted after there was no access for 30 days.

★ Create widgets from almost any website element
★ Parse graphs and images
★ Extract statistics and information from authorized sites
★ Configure widgets (background, alignment, etc.)
★ Automatic updates
★ User defined click actions
★ Lots of other cool stuff
Status
The app is currently quite stable, but we still prefer to call it a beta. So please, do write to us with suggestions or bug reports!

Any issues with this first build?
Come come guys - feedback please!
I've just installed it and I'm trying to use it with a forum, I can't seem to invoke the keyboard so that I can log in. I'm using a Sensation XL running Gingerbread.

Someone else said this was a problem... though we havent been able to replicate it. Does this happen on all sites? Also, which site are you referring to?
I've only tried the one so far http://www.eos-magazine-forum.com/index.php

Hmm... i just tried on three devices (hc, ics, cm9) and the keyboard pops up fine when clicking the login field.
Can you please try another site? Or maybe a reboot? We use the webkit browser and its not flawless so the keyboard hiding we do at first run may be screwing with it.
Lets see if we can fix this for you.
1.0.2.1
Fixed keyboard issue present on some phones
Fixed image cache optimization (much faster now)
Fixed a rendering issue that occurs if data connection is lost
Fixed a few device-specific issues from user feedback
Nice idea, like it. But how do i prevent making a list view from content?

This is awesome. Tried to make some widgets, but i don't have so much ideas. Anyway the keyboard sometimes don't work, i must exit and start again, and sometimes back button doesn't go to previous page but exit the widget config. A possible overall preview would be nice(maybe full screen preview) since i make some changes and don't know how the widget will look. Another thing that i noticed is that when i select an element, in selection section it shows on center and nice aligned on every row, but when i put it on homescreen it's just one row after another. Here it's an e.g:
Selection:
---------
###
---------
**
Homescreen:
-------###------**
Also would be possible to take whole div, not only an element from that? I tried to take a div that contains some text and an image, but only the text was selected. This is a nice piece of work, keep up the good work.

Hi. Thanks. If you like it, please leave a comment on the play store - at this early junction good reviews will help us spend more time making things better
Regarding the preview - its in the works, though it is pretty complex to do. We will use our Prepaid Widget as a template, so you can have a look at that if you want a a preview of how thew preview will look...
Re many elements. ATM its only possible to select one at a time. We are working on an internal launcher which will allow you to move all the elements around. Its slated for release this month.

Review added on market. This would be huge, if you can implement multiple elements. Select one, two ore w/e elements and move them around, awesome!
Just something that i forgot to ask, sometimes it takes up to 150MB RAM, usually 50~60MB isn't a bit much?
Pretty awesome app. I can't for the kufe of me figure out how to set the widget on my desktop. I assume I need the paid app. Most likely user error I'm just dumb lol.

It's a widget. Long press on homescreen, search for MetaWidget and start configure it:
- Enter a website, select an element(click on it then use the arrows from bottom to select between multiple elements)
!!! make sure you have the checkbox from bottom-left ticked !!!
- Click on the plus sign near the ticked box to select that element and go to widget preference screen.
- Configure the text alignment, size, background color, w/e...
- Click OK , select widget size then select OK again, and you'r done.

We will implement multiple elements soon when our widget constructor comes out. Within two weeks the beta will be up.
Re ram - this is because of images. And of course the cache of the webkit browser, which once closed is shunted out of ram.
On modern devices this isnt a problem though...

@swiftinmotion - Check out my previous post, i've rewrite it and added some pics.
This is a backport of the Live Earth wallpapers from the Pixel devices/Android 7.1 to 7.0. It crashes on 6.0, so don't even ask for anything lower than 7.0
I backported this by doing the following:
- Decompile the app
- Copy the resources/manifest to a new Android Studio product with the same package name, but with minsdk 24
- Build project and fix errors with AppCompat/Re-import AppCompat to keep compatibility
- Copy classes.dex, assets and com from the original APK to the new APK
- Remove META-INF and re-sign with own signature
This worked.
However, it still crashed on my 5X due to lack of library files. So I went back into the system dump, and found them (in the lib64 folder, the priv-app/WallpapersBReel/libs folder contained symlinks). Copied them into the lib/arm64-v8a folder of the APK for easy install and now it works fine.
Live wallpaper locations included in this app:
- Arches National Park, Moab, Utah
- Garden, Kent, United Kingdom
- Half Dome, Yosemite National Park, CA
- Pantheon, Rome, Italy
- Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan
- Whitehaven Beach, Queensland, Australia
- Horizon
- Your world, Solar System, which centres on your current location and shows the correct lighting for the current time
Screenshots don't really do these wallpapers justice, but here's a gallery if you can't watch a video
Screenshot of the most impressive in my opinion, the globe which always centres your position and reacts to light:

}
(Examples of night [UK] and day [Mountain View, CA]. Full size images in gallery above)
Strangely, B-Reel (who made these wallpapers with Google) did have a page showcasing them, but it now 404s. Thankfully, the Google Cache for it still works and I took a screenshot of the whole page so it's never lost, which can be found here: http://i.imgur.com/Ez8Y5cX.jpg
Video including setting, swiping and screen unlock animations for each: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkZsLqozdHA
The APK is a massive 80.6MB, 90MB when installed. This is because it contains a load of models for the areas:
Download for ARM64 devices
Download for ARM 32 bit devices (YOUR WORLD, SOLAR SYSTEM IS NOW WORKING)
(If you are having trouble with this APK and your wallpaper is too dark, try this port)
Download for x86 32 bit devices
Download for x86 64 bit devices
Note that it will ONLY work on Android 7.0+. There is an experimental Android 6.0 port here, but it's ARM64 only
FAQ
- ARM32 (more commonly known as just "ARM") live earth when?
ARM32 support is now available, as the SDK images are now available
When either an official beta of 7.1.1 comes out for the Nexus 6 WITH THE LIBS INCLUDED or an ARM system image for the AVD with Android 7.1.1 and the libs
- Why does the earth on my wallpaper look smaller/bigger than the one in the screenshots?
It changes throughout the day and night. Use the phone for a few hours and it will change for you
- Why is my location wrong on the map even when I've given the location permission?
No idea. This has happened to a few people, some are saying that changing your device's language changes the location also, others not. It might be a bug, which I'm not responsible for.
A note about signatures, trojans and decompilation after the arguments with the Google Camera port:
This APK is signed with my personal signature, and only mine. I personally decompiled the APK pulled straight from the system dump, did the steps above in a properly set up Android Studio install and rebuilt it, copying the original files and libs. It's had no contact with any tools other than APKtool, Android Studio, and jarsigner. It's also impossible to keep the original Google signature due to the nature of backporting. Whilst it turned out that the Google Camera wasn't in fact infected, but had shared a signature from a popular signing tool with a piece of actual malware (which triggered the checkers), I try to be as careful as possible with sources and I can assure you that this APK is clean.

Yeah, I already found out. So, if google will not release it (I'm pretty sure they won't), then we need someone with IDA pro and decent knowledge of reverse engineering to get this working. I hope someone will do this.

OnePlus 3 user here. I couldn't get this to work, force closes whenever I select the live wallpaper.
Just an overview of my device configuration: OnePlus 3 is 64 bits. I'm running an unofficial build of Nougat on my device. I've modified my build.prop so Google Assistant would work along with installing Pixel launcher, Pixel Wallpaper chooser, Gradient live wallpaper, and Pixel stock wallpaper. All of the APKs (including this one) are at /system/priv-app with rw-r-r permissions. Any suggestions? Attached a logcat in case that helps.
