i flashed JElliott's MIUI, followed the directions, but got stuck at samsung screen after battery pull. i didnt get the blue CMW that i use to reflash. i tried GTG's ultimate unbrick on 2 pcs with an older version of kies & the updated version. neither pcs recognize my infuse in download mode. help plz???
have you tried another odin, Shouldnt be a problem though if you have the right drivers loaded.
you cant get back into recovery? Pull the Batt....put it in and hold the Volume up and down rocker at the same time while holding power....when the logo pops up release power and continue to hold the Volume and down for another 10 seconds maybe 15 and you should get to the recovery as long as Miui finished loading up during the install.

I personally have not had good luck with that version of Odin, try this
and download either stock or the stock/Root+3e option
Also before you do that, you said after the first flash, you pulled the battery and then 3 fingered into CWM to reflash correct?
Woops, looks like I was a little too late, sorry for excessive info lol
I had a lot of problems with MIUI always bricking my phone. It pretty much went like this, cleared cache, cleared data/factory reset. Installed rom from zip. Brick!! Eventually managed to get into CWM which is blue, install miui from rom again and then it'll boot into miui but its really buggy so I never used it.
*Edit* After watching the video looks like it may be buggy for me because I never went into advanced and deleted dalvik cache there. I always just used the clear cache partition option.
Are you talking about ODIN or Kies? I've never once used Kies on my Infuse or my Captivate, so I know nothing about it, but if you're in Download mode, you're definitely not bricked. If download mode is all you can get to, you can reflash a new ROM or the ultimate unbrick with ODIN. If you have trouble getting ODIN to recognize your phone, boot up on an Ubuntu Live CD and use heimdall (you can try Heimdall on Windows as well, but Linux doesn't require you to screw with drivers and is a lot less of a headache).

Just to be clear its not the ron that is bricking people its the user. Even experienced users sometimes forget to do something or did something backwards I have but its always being my fault and fixed bye reading or remembering after brick "oh crap I forgot to ......" just try to follow directions to a T

first, thanks to everyone that has, thus far, attempted to help me. yes, i followed the directions exactly, to no avail...
i actually tried h8's rooted unbrick, and gtgs ultimate, no luck.
and to the last guy, come on dude, i have an infuse that i cant use, im obviously not happy about life, lol so plz dont insult my intelligence... lol thanks for that ?suggestion? tho.
& to the kies/odin guy, i wasnt attempting to use kies, however, kies is wat installs the drivers that make windows recognize the infuse, so like i said, i tried it on my pc as it was, but when that didnt work, i updated kies just on a limb.
if anyone has any suggestions, plz feel free!!!

ok... so i think I'm f***ed!
was trying to repartition & totally clean my phone out at work last night, and i think I made a wrong selection while selecting cache size and such... (i should pay more attention)
but yeah... i get boot-loops on the Samsung screen. It will stay there for 1-2 minutes, then reboot... never making it to the boot animation. I also cant get into recovery, for the fact that EVERYTHING was wiped.
I got into download mode, but Heimdall (i use ubuntu) wont detect it... I've tried unplugging and re-plugging several times, I also tried a battery pull then reloading everything... still nothing.
I'm out of ideas and ways to fix this... please dont tell me im totally bricked... cause i have zero money for a new phone.

If you can get into download mode you're not bricked completely. Heimdall was working for you in Ubuntu before you did this I take it? I am not a Linux guy so I can't help there but if you have access to a windows pc , you may want to try Odin and/or Heimdall on it.

Yeah ive used Heimdall a few times now... much better than driving 20 minutes to my tech buddies house to use his machine for use of Odin.
but yeah... been sitting in download mode for 20 minutes now, and still nothing.
You may need to reflash efs. You did make a back up right? If not, search the forums, i posted a flashable backup. Just use Odin to flash it.

yeah i made a backup last night before i flashed Mitra 5.0... but wouldnt it be gone if i repartitoned everything? cause that would sweep my whole SD
:: UPDATE :: (again)
alright, made a big long post about everything i did and finally got into recovery and tried sweeping it and it said app2sd ext didnt exsist and all this other crap.. then tried went into my backups and it said "couldnt open directory" and "no files found"
then swept again, then rebooted & once it booted, it wasnt stock, but Mitra 5.0.... the very rom that started all my issues in the first place. (-_-)*
so yeah... phone is up and running... what do i need to do from here? i want to revert back to MitRa 4.7 or go to ZEUS-rom... do i need to repartiton and fix my efs or what?
No, don't repartition, either boot back into recovery and try to restore. Unless you formatted, it should still be there. Or just wipe and flash Zeus.
ignore: app2sd ext didnt exsist

im not on windows, so i dont need the drivers or anything like that...
im assuming from this point, i just flash back to stock and start over? ...or do i need to load the /efs again?
its not letting me unmount system in CWM everytime i go to mount/system it says errror mouting/system! I had rc 3.2, i was flashing 3.3 when this happened. help would be greatly appreciated
I'm having the same problem...except I didn't even think to check it since it's normally set to UMMU anyway...so I flashed the ROM and I'm stuck at the Galaxy S 4G logo screen.
I was on Valhalla Black 1.6, or whatever the latest version before the hybrid was. I've tried flashing back to that and a few other ROM's, but none are working. I really need my phone lol.
If anyone has ANY suggestions, please let us know. I am trying currently to install the drivers on my laptop so I can maybe go back to an older set of bootloaders, but something is not working with that either...UGHHHHH
I believe this is a GB issue with most kernels. Try flashing the modded KJ6 kernel, and see if that fixes it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380331
A for the issue, I have had a similar issue. To fix it, I used Odin to flash back to Kj6 stock, Odined KH1 then XWM BH's's Kj6 kernel and then flashed the ROM i was currently using, following the instructions exactly and all was good...
I posted this in another thread concerning the battery issue, but it should work for your issue you as I was having the unmount issue with a different ROM and the battery issue at the same time. The ROM was a GB ROM as well (2.3.5)
It cleans out the gremlins

I'm not able to get past the main bootup screen, so no-go on getting to the market. This is the first time I've had an issue flashing and it's been a few months since I've even wanted to switch ROM's since Valhalla Black worked so well for me.
I flashed the kernel, but still can't change the mount point for /system...tried to flash the ROM anyway cuz I'm a dumbass and still not able to boot. I'm trying to get into ODIN to revert back to a stock GB ROM, or any GB ROM for that matter...my laptop is telling me the drivers weren't installed correctly. ODIN seems to recognize my phone in the yellow box (COM 5) but it doesn't have anything in the box above the yellow COM 5 box. (sorry for all the non-technical terms here).
My process is
1. Install Samsung drivers for 32 bit Windows 7 laptop (verified 32 bit...I've tried the wrong ones on a previous flash)
2. Install ODIN
3. Connect phone to laptop in DL Mode.
Everything is good except the damn drivers issue...bad link for the drivers perhaps??
If Odin says you are connected (yellow box), you should be able to flash. As long as your phone is in dl mode... The box above it fills up while Odin is performing the flashing operation

I went from SAUROM, flashed ICS Build 17 twice, and after "SUCCESSFULL" message, it boots up but without any cell coverage network and it doesnt even recogonise Internal storage. It shows only 1.8Gb memory and not the internal files.
I CAN boot into recovery, and in that when i choose FLASH ZIP FROM SD CARD, i can see EVERYTHING!!! all my files, folders etc are there.... ive flashed the same ROM like 10 times now, same problem.
Also, i tried ODIN 1 click , but my phone doesnt get recogonised in Download Mode.

WHAT TO DO..please help me out!!!

even though i never got the same message, but even I cant see the rest of the memory..only 1.8 is present....
Hmmm... Could be a hardware issue then. As for your network, you have to set your phone on the correct APN. It takes forever for my pc to recognize my internal storage or that its connected, but I think that's an issue with some people on ics. Try reinstalling the samsung drivers.

For those who have been following this thread, the moral is this:
You're only bricked if you literally have a dead phone that doesn't respond at all. Can't turn on, doesn't vibrate, doesn't show signs of charging, doesn't go to DL mode, etc. Even then, if you have the unbrickable mod then you are literally never going to be able to brick your phone, even under circumstances that would normally cause a brick.
Well it bricks, but you run a program that takes advantage of the hardware being wired to be able to load things into the RAM while the phone is off and execute an upgrade from there!
Ok so I have a rooted infuse 4G and am a complete noob when it comes to flashin roms and mods... I am still on the froyo 2.2.1and hate it lol. Which brings me to my first query, I know its possible to upgrade my android version to the GB and JB with multiple methods but I'm extremely scared that I'm going to brick my phone. It was some forums on here that helped me decide to root my phone so now I'm hoping that you guys can help me take the next step. So whats the safest, easiest way to upgrade my os.. Odin didnt work and I no longer have a computer, so heimdall is out as well. Oh not sure if this is important but I'm not registered on any network nor have I unlocked my phone's sim. Well that's a start. I really hate froyo 2.2.1 so please if anyone can help I definitely could use it.

From Froyo 2.2.1, there is an official build GB 2.3.6 UCLB3 out for the Infuse.
You will need a computer though. Without a computer to restore your phone to stock from soft bricking, you should not be flashing anything. It may be possible for you to bring your phone to an AT&T store and have them update you if you don't have a PC. You will need a computer to root the GB UCLB3.
Where to start? Read the Q/A as much as you can. Then move into the Development section.

Would it be best to use kies to update to GB? I'm a little concerned as to what would happen to my Infuse all around.. What will need backed up?
I have titanium backup but if the app gets wiped wont i lose all my back-ups? For some reason it wont sync to my dropbox app force closes every time I try. Sorry about all the questions I'm just short on the amount of time I am able to browse threads at the moment but I do have use of a computer for awhile so that kinda helps.
I personally prefer using odin or heimdall. Don't quite trust kies and it often gives issues.
all mayor changes will occur on system partitions. Your internal sd will remain untouched, and there you will titanium backups. Just reinstall TB app later and restore apps, not data.

It doesn't matter if your phone is unregistered and locked. You cannot use SuperOneClick on Gingerbread. What you should do is (this is the Heimdall version):
Flash this rooted version of stock GB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25526643&postcount=2
You do that and you already have root.
If you want to then graduate on to Jelly Bean you must:
Flash ICS (follow directions carefully!):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24901014&postcount=1
Once you've done that, flash any of the JB ROMs you like, but make sure to read the directions carefully. I strongly recommend that you consult the Super Everything Thread for links to the ROMs and tweaks you need, particularly if you are interested in unlocking your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610374
I'm feeling kinda stupid..
Can somebody give me the right link for downloading Heimdall One-click w/root? For some reason I'm not able to get any to work on this computer.. I downloaded the ink provided labeled UCLB3 -DEBLOATED-ODEX - ROOTED - BUSYBOX- STOCK KERNEL on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25526643&postcount=2
but am unsure if that actually is the one containing Heimdall or just the rom i'm flashing or both.. I'm extremely sorry about my noobishness of just posting all these already answered questions. I've gone and confused myself and have like ten tabs with different threads open please don't hate me. I have a bad habit of asking questions..
Oh and what apps do i need on my phone in order to flash? And I mean absolutely need. I've also noticed that most threads say to format my mounted sd card But i really dont want to do that if i dont need to.
It should all be bundled together. Heimdall is a java based interface so it should just open up. Sorry, it's been a long time and I'm an Odin person!
You don't need any apps on your phone. When you flash, everything on the small partition will be wiped (apps, app data, etc). Flashing will not usually wipe your pictures, videos etc. but it's always a good idea to back up. For now, don't worry about formatting anything. When you get to ICS, you'll need to format as it says in the instructions. Otherwise, if it works, don't fix it!
When you flash ICS and JB, all you need to do is to put the zip files on to your internal SD card (not the one you can take out). You can then flash from CWM (which will already be on your phone - don't download Rom Manager).
Once again thank you all. I'm running GB and loving it. My fiance is shocked at how much help I needed though usually I'm the person everyone comes to with their tech issues LOL. But I absolutely did not want to mess my infuse up. I thought I did but the issue was such a noob mistake that I had to smack myself in the face at my stupidity. Forgot to unzip the cwm ect folder I downloaded. XD not sure I'm ready to try ICS or JB yet though.

The odd thing is you could have updated to GB through AT&T and used mini kies. But at least you are now rooted and able to go to ICS and JB.
Read the instructions on the next step before moving on.

Kinda wish I would have done it that way... I wanted to get some practice flashing roms tho. And now my phone is bootlooping, computer says the device is incompatible I can only get into the samsung recovery even tho the rom i flashed had cwm packaged in. I tried to change my boot animation following the steps provided in my boot animation thread then again with the steps in tsqers rom thread I apologise if thats mispelled. I tried updating from sd but get a sign error Can get into download mode but same issue with it being incompatible usb device. I tried holding down the power button for 1 minute and then rebooting no luck there. I tried wiping data/fact. reset,... nothing. I tried wipe cache partition,...still looping.
The loop samsung screen two seconds, black screen 1 1/2 seconds,... over and over and over...
My battery is full. Any advice???

Which ROM did you flash and which CWM recovery can you see (which version)?
I used the http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...43&postcount=2 thread to get the rooted rom UCLB3 -DEBLOATED-ODEX - ROOTED - BUSYBOX- STOCK KERNEL.
Saved I think.
So I finally Got it to connect to my comp and re-flashed the rom can i get a link to an ICS heimdall one click package to flash before restoring anything and this happening again?
You should be able to find it on the ISET page.

So I have an old Infuse that my kids use and it went crazy the other day. Not sure what happened. Long story short I keep getting a boot loop at the ATT screen. This phone is not rooted and I'm not sure if it was on Froyo or GB. I've flashed every return from brick I can find on XDA. I'm using Odin and I'm pretty familiar with flashing/rooting etc. Can't figure this one out. The only thing I can think is the boot loaders are not the correct ones? Not sure, I keep seeing GTG's ultimate unbrick but all the links I get to it don't work. this is the only thing I haven't tried. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit to add: After I flash in Odin it goes to reboot then does the open update, verifying update, installing update, successfully installed update package.
Copying media files it says failed to mount/sdcard, can't mount /sdcard your storage not prepared yet please use UI menu for format and reboot. ??? I think that's the problem. How do I fix??
Just search in the stickies for bootloaders. That will solve your problems

If you'd like to try GTG's Ultimate Unbrick, you can find a working download here:

Tried everything and no go. Not sure where to go from here. Sure seems like a hardware issue.

You mentioned it's boot-looping at the Samsung logo - perhaps there's an issue with the power button.
Here's a couple of threads that may be helpful:

It goes past the Samsung logo screen then to the ATT Rethink Possible screen then keeps looping on that screen over and over. It charges normally also.

I would try flashing just a kernel (not the whole unbrick package). I have been in a similar situation and after trying everything imaginable that's what ended up fixing it for me.

This happened to me earlier. What I did was-
1 Went to full stock using heimdal one click, After completetion, U may stuck in bootloop in at&t as you said
2 Flash efs.zip found in the link below using odin. put efs.zip in odin and untouch any other setting and flash, (Ur imei may be previously corrupted so u got bootloop). This doesnot do any harm. So flash with confidence. If ur device doesnot show up in odin after u flash with heimdal one click , reinstal drivers with kies mini
Link for download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729838
3 Now u'll be out of AT&T bootloop if ur imei was previously corrupted.
I was in similar situation. And this solved my proble.
Hit me thanks if I helped you :good:
Thanks for all the advise. Still not working. Tried everything above and much more. Different things I do give different results but pretty much the same in end. Either sticks in recovery or boot loops one way or another. Really don't see how this could be related to software but you never know I guess.
