You could use ADB to remount the system as r/w. Someone who knows Linux can give you the commands, I'd just have to Google for them myself.

If you have any file explorer from the market (ES, File Expert, Astro), you will need to enable root in the settings, and then most likely use the menu button and 'More' to 'Mount r/w.' It varies a little between apps, but they can all do it.

Now someone (IE a dev) with more knowledge can correct me if I'm wrong but you may have a problem with the permissions. You usually want to stay away from setting 777 permissions (IE all of them ticked like you do) I have found instability that way with various files.
My bootanimation is altered from stock and is set to 744 permissions. So it should look like this:
XXX
X X
X X
In otherwords all of them ticked but "write" on group and others.
Give that a whirl and see if it fixes your issue. :good:
^
Actually bootanimation.zip must be set to 644
x x .
x . .
x . .
To be briefer, I tick all, haha
777 in PC Linux is dangerous, but I think in this case it's ok.
Please tell us if there's something wrong

But I heard that the boot ani changer in rom toolbox would brick the phone. And I dont think that our phone is supported for that function either.
Actually the boot animation changer in ROM toolbox works great. No issues on ICS at all.
There are certain things in ROM toolbox that can cause you to loop, or cause you headaches, ie installing a one percent mod when you're on stock 20% increments. But this is not one of them.

[APP] S Voice for SGR

Have come across a hacked version of S voice for Non SGS 3 Users and tested it in our Device. It is not 100% bug free but worth to give a try I love it
S Voice is an intelligent personal assistant on Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone, which runs on the Android operating system. Like Apple's Siri, the application uses a natural language user interface to answer questions, make recommendations, and perform actions by delegating requests to a set of Web services.
Many android users feels that S Voice is better than Vlingo in feature and performance wise.

I couldn't install the zip file in CWM so I manually extracted the file and pushed only the files/folders inside System folder into the. corresponding folders.
Procedure to install:
1. You mobile should have been rooted to use this.
2. Extract the zip file downloaded from the above link. Use file explorer like "Root Explorer " to navigate to the extracted folder and copy the folder "System" and paste that folder in "/" (root folder) of your device. If you are using Root Explorer make sure you tap on Mount R/w before pasting the folder. After you paste the folder, again press on Mount R/o. Basically it overwrites the existing /system folder contents with this one especially the existing text to speech related files will be overwritten with SGS 3 tts files. No worries everything works good.
3. Restart your mobile. Invoke S Voice either by double pressing home button or from Blue tooth or clicking the app icon.
Can anyone help in creating a CWM install zip file after complete testing by everyone please.

It works. I had wasted almost an hour trying other unsuccessful tricks before I got hold of this post. But there is a very big problem. The size of this file is almost 700KBs but the one in my mob. is more than 5MBs big. With the installation of this font, even though I could read Malayalam several items now appeared as mere rectangular boxes. So I had to replace it with my backup.
Unfortunately it is not working with Panasocnic P51

[GUIDE][ROOT] Google text-to-speech on the GN3 (Navigation voice)(All variants)

Here's how to bring back Google's text-to-speech and silence that creepy Samsung lady.
1. Download and unzip the attached file.
2. Place "libpatts_engine_jni_api.so" and "libspeexwrapper.so" in /system/lib/ and set permissions to 644.
3. Place "GoogleTTS.apk" in /system/app/ and set permissions to 644.
4. Reboot
5. Go to Settings-> Accessibility-> Text-to-speech options, and select Google Text-to-speech Engine.
6. Enjoy!
Confirmed working on SM-N900P, but it should work with all others too.
I really wasn't going to root this phone but I am doing it just for this. It sounds like she is hitting on me every time she says turn left

How exactly do you set permission?

Do it with a file explorer like "ES File explorer", you long press the file in question to set permissions, but you have to turn root access on in the app before hand.

For some reason ES File Explorer won't work for me. Permission denied even though granted root access and all. So, I went with Root Explorer and place those files in the folder you mention and just follow the steps and it work. What sup with ES file Explorer 3 anyway?
I can confirm working great on ATT.

Thanks for the guide!
Worked perfectly. Thanks.
FYI for those still scared to root you can install something like IVONA tts from the play store.

Google TTS? Hasn't anyone tried free (as of now) IVONA TTS? IVONA beats Google out of the water.

Once you've enabled root access, you need to make it read/writable, by pressing the text of the option to bring this up:
{

Thanks a bunch for this! Was one of my biggest complaints. Even the HD samsung voice wasn't that great in comparison to Google's.
Can't get it to function on Verizon N3

Working perfect on my Verizon note 3. Did you make sure to go into settings and select Google TTS Engine?
Not working on my Verizon Note 3 either.
I changed permissions via Root Explorer then tried ES Explorer to see if I could type 644 anywhere for permissions, but I was only able to see the box with the permissions setting as per below:
Owner - Read Write
Group - Read
Other - Read
I went into Setting - >Accessibility -> Text to speech, and saw ONLY the Samsung text-to-speech engine.
FYI, when I copied over the GoogleTTS.apk, I only copied it into the app directory with the same permissions as above. When I try to click on the GoogleTTS.apk in Root explorer, it doesn't run nor install.
