Here is why. It should come out on all carriers because Verizon has the best lineup. I know this really is not a reason, but they are getting the HTC Vigor, Droid HD, and supposedly the Nexus Prime. They are all 720p with amazing hardware, and the other carriers with have the SGS2 as their best phone. This is one of the other reasons it should not be a Verizon exclusive.
Soon to be Nexus Prime owner if on sprint

The Nexus One would have been a far bigger sucess in the US if they had issued braded variants to all the major carrier like Samsung did with the Galaxy S. I don't think that a phone can be sucessful in this market with out a discounted contract price.
Totally agree with you Obi_Kwiet.
I kick myself for not getting the Nexus One so I'm hoping this will be true and they'll stay witht he same type of setup and make it a beast like thed N1 was/is.
Hey everyone,
I was just curious, if you had the chance to go with whatever carrier and get any android phone...which one would you go with?? What is the best choice?

I would go with what ever carrier had the latest and greatest nexus Google phone.
If money wasn't an issue i would go with the SGS2...
Unlocked SGS2
Motorola Photon.

Exactly this^
If I was grandfathered in for unlimited Data at Verizon, and the SGSII had an LTE radio on Verizon, It would be the greatest possible scenario.
But because I am not on unlimited Verizon, I'll have to say SGSII on Sprint.
I'm currently on SGSII Unlocked with AT&T, and I'm not too impressed with them. The phone itself is fantastic though.
I would not go with AT&T simply because of the horror stories I have heard from some of their customers. That may seem somewhat ignorant, but having worked with both T-Mobile and Verizon, I don't believe I could go with any other carrier. T-Mobile's cutomer service is ridiculously good, and Verizon's coverage is amazing.
That being said, phones play a certain role in this decision making process as well. While I would not necessarily choose a different carrier simply because they had the phone I wanted, it would play a heavy role in my decision making process.
All of that considered, the setup I have now, an HTC Thunderbolt with Verizon, couldnt be better.
Galaxy SII, any network...
galaxy s2 hercules! a variant of the s2. its not even out yet, I dont have any preference for carrier though. we don't have AT&T Verizon and other big providers here
Thanks for the discussion guys! I want exactly sur what to do ..
Looks like I'm going with the SGS2 ha ha
Ilk keep ya updated ^ ^

I really hope the announcement next Monday is for SGSII on Verizon. I'd hate to be stuck with the bionic...
The best option now is the Samsung GALAXY S II from a hardware point of view or the HTC Sensation if you like the HTC Sense interface.
I'm currently at the end of my rope with my rooted Droid Eris... I've got Cyanogen 6 running on it, overclocked to 700mhz, but it's reeeeeeeally been getting on my nerves lately and I need a new phone.
None of VZW's choices really jump out at me, and I'm eligible to upgrade next Sunday. I was considering the Samsung Fascinate since it's A.) Free, B.) easy to root, and C.) not overkill for me. I don't need a 4g phone seeing as there's no 4g network in my area yet. I love Swype, I don't need a slide-out keyboard, so that cuts the Droid 3 BOGO offer out for me. Droid X2 looks okay, but there's no telling when Root will be available for that phone either. The Incredible 2 and Thunderbolt are insanely overpriced since they're $200 and $250 respectively, both have single cores, and barely more memory than the Fascinate, and the screens aren't as nice as the AMOLED. Only issue is VZW discontinued the Fascinate, not sure if I could get one off Amazon or not, but I doubt any Verizon store will have a new one, I don't want a refurb.
Anyone have any suggestions? My only requirements are < $200, no keyboard, rootable, and not an LG (everyone I know has had TERRIBLE luck with LG phones). I'd prefer a Samsung or HTC because Moto sucks at locking their phones down.
I have the incredible 2 and from what I hear the x2 handles dual core not well. I rooted my inc 2a soon as it came out and it came with froyo :/ there is the xtc clip method and soon htc might start unlocking bootloaders for it. It is single core but is mighty fast enough for me. I don't have 4G yet either so I didn't need it

From the looks of it, the best Android phone coming out (that we know of) is the HTC Holiday? 1.2 GHz, qHD...it's supposedly coming out during the (wouldn't you guess) holiday season, AFTER phones on other carriers with 1.5 Ghz and 720p screens have been out for a couple months. Wth? From the looks of it, AT&T might not get the Nexus Prime (or whatever it's called, at least not right away). In fact, it's rumored to be going to Verizon, who is also getting the HTC Vigor, the Motorola Dinara, and a couple of the phones in that recently leaked Samsung lineup are going to Verizon.
Of course, where these phones go is all speculation...but damn, someone tell me my crappy carrier will be getting something good within the next 6 months!!
Perhaps I'm missing something...
The Samsung Galaxy S2 should be out next month. That will be the top Android device for ATT. And there is a slight chance they get the Nexus-Prime this Nov/Dec.
I would get the Galaxy S2. Will be a great device and last a long while if there is a steady XDA user base for ATT's version.

I dunno. It'll be a 1.2 ghz releasing about the same time as the other supposedly 1.5 phones, AND the screen resolution isn't even qHD, let alone at all on par with the 720p... You're right though, if the development is good (on XDA, etc.) then that does a lot for the phones lasting value.
But spec wise, it seems the SGS2 has been held off of US shores for FAR too long, and it risks being outdated almost immediately.
Are there really no other good ATT phones in our future? Can we expect some surprises to be unveiled in the coming weeks for phones on par with these beasts Verizon, etc. are getting?
Import an unlocked prime.
Well, AT&T is buying out T-Mobile and I'm sure with it will come a bunch of new phones for AT&T
There's rumors a Nexus Prime will be dropping for every carrier.
Hi everyone. I am on At&t and have been waiting for the release of the Htc Holiday for more than three months. Seeing that it is launching so close to the Nexus Prime, (rumored) I was wondering if I should get the Holiday or Prime. I currently have a T-Mobile Nexus One on At&t, so I only have Edge speeds. I want my next phone to be At&t native so I get faster speeds. I am a huge fan of Htc and feel okay about Samsung.
Here are my questions:
Is the Nexus Prime going to launch on At&t?
If the Prime is launching on At&t, should I get that or the Holiday? Why?
Is there another phone that is coming out (on At&t) that I should get?
Do you believe that the back of the leaked Holiday is the real back, or that it is going to be changed? (I think it's currently really ugly)

Thanks so much!

I would stick with the Google pure device, you can always flash a sense rom afterwards on the Prime, but the Prime will get Google support just like Nexus 1/S.
Okay, I looked it up and the Nexus Prime is rumored to be known as the Droid Prime, but only be on Verizon for a while. Now what do you think?
it is rumored that the droid prime phone will have verizon's droid branding. and the other cariers will have the pure google nexus prime branding. If this is true I am gald to be with att.
I read somewhere the Prime would be launched initially on T-Mobile so I doubt AT&T would get it anytime soon.

Same here. I hate the Droid branding. When people ask my if my phone is a Droid, I say no and lecture them.

I would believe that, however, At&t did get the Nexus S, so maybe they're on a better upgrade track now and will get it.
IBT is reporting that they expect it to release on AT&T this November 24th, which happens to be Thanksgiving.
