Can someone point me in the right direction to make the screen wake up when recieving a text message? Synergy Rom does this but I would like a separate flashable file. Any help is appreciated.

I can't get my EVO to let ringlert set my default ringtone. It works fine for setting a ringtone for individual contacts but fails at setting a ringtone for all incoming calls.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Thanks in advance...

I downloaded the free version of Ringlert to my Droid X. I can assign a song to an individual contact but cannot assign a song as a default tone. Any suggestions?
think this has to do with being rooted...iam using warm 2.2 rls3 and had the same prob on rls2 also.
ohhh well deal with it and email the ringlert maker like i did and not get a ans back

If it's an AOSP ROM you won't be able to use Sense applications
Vael always puts side by side apps in his roms. Look in the vaelpak extras folder using root explorer or similar program. The HTC mms.apk(its the entire app even tho its called mms) should be in there

Well that would be the general notification...by if u want to turn it on for email u go to Ur email, like the widget, open the inbox then hit menu, more, settings then u can turn on notification there..
Edit: xnifex u beat me to it, I was replying then got distracted before I posted

if I take this way I can only use the standard sounds. how can I use personal sounds?
e.g. "you've got mail" sound from AOL for email-notification?
Has anyone else noticed that there is now a character limit in the stock SMS app? It used to split my messages after 160 characters, but now it just stops me from typing all together.
The settings menu doesn't have any options to change this anymore either. I'm kind of mad... seems like such basic functionality.
It never split my messages....there was no change between 2.3.4 and 2.3.5

That's annoying. It should send longer messages as an MMS which can be much larger.

Hmm. I'm using the stock deodexed 2.3.4 ROM and it splits my messages. Is there a custom messaging app that someone might have stuck in the 2.3.4 ROM?
Stock 2.3.5 AOSP does not limit on a gsm device, it properly splits.

very frustrating.
either way, I flashed my backup of 2.3.4 and pulled the MMS.apk off of it and stuck it in on 2.3.5 so I can split my flipping texts. this seems like such a simple feature to leave out.
PM me if you want a copy of it

When in Handicent, click menu and choose settings, > Application Settings and Defaul Messaging.
This supresses the native Android notification.
Good luck
I did that...i selected disable...and when i get texts...i still get both notifications ...weird...?

I use handcent also (Great App btw) and always uninstall the stock mms app. No sense in having two and it frees up space..just saying
