SPB shell users? Anything similar to it? - HTC Inspire 4G

Are there any SPB shell 3d users in the inspire section? I just bought it and I love it!
Is there anything similar to it? I'm still pretty new to this whole Android thing, but SPB shell single handedly made me never want to look at apple products again (among the 3 dozen or so other reasons). I just want to see what other cool options for customization there are.
I'm running CoreDroid by the way.

I actually just switched to SPB Shell yesterday, and I gotta say that it is the fastest and most stable launcher I have ever used. Rosie Launcher is similar and free, but it's not the same experience.

I love SPB. My only complaint is that my favorite contacts get wiped every time I reboot. Other than that, it's fantastic.

I prefer golauncher ex lately. I bought spb, even with its outrageous price tag, and used it only a little. I was expecting a ton more features and options.
There's alot of launchers out there now. And They are only getting better.

I tried go launcher but didn't like it as much. I love the look of SPB, but I wish I could do a photobucket page instead of flickr.

I am a big fan of SPB Shell 3D and I use it when I'm running a non-Sense ROM. Using CM7.1 right now and SPB is my default launcher.

Things are still in the works. I check in with the Dev's and site regularly. I like this on my phone, but on a larger screen tablet, it's even nicer!!

+1 I hate Flikr.

Seriously. It's useless to me, but I like the symetry of 3 page dots lol.

You won't find anything as visually pleasing as SPB. I used it for a little while, but found ADW.EX to give me more function.

um there already "live" widgets. every widget is inherently live, otherwise its just an icon. what specifically are you looking for
how about some live app shortcuts... to use with Desktop Visualizer etc.
they could move around in different directions and such
imagine a blue wallpaper and icons shaped like clouds that are around your screen
adam might be on to something haha
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
but what I was sayin tho my widgets don't move they just sit on the screen that gets old after a while I already got moving walpapers the widgets should do some moving too like for the messages widgets the mail icon u just see a little blue picture and lines the lines should be letters...it should look like I'm typing something

There is a company that is working on some impressive stuff like what you are talking about. Check out tatHome. They have a bunch of videos that shows what they are working on and rumor has it that it will work on android devices.

I checked out that tathome stuff.....and while it is ridiculously sick....its been in the works for just about a year now. I saw this work of genius seven months or so ago, and its still not out with any word of where its progress is at or perhaps a release date. This would keep me from switching to WP7 by the end of the year....but as of now the UI android has is not as smooth as it sooo could be, as everyone can plainly see in the demo video of tathome.
If anyone has any word on this, I'm quite sure it would be much appreciated by alot of people.
if you build it...they will come...
agreed, tathome looked sick... S E V E N months ago. sad its not released yet, i signed up for beta and STILL no word...not that i care a whole lot, but it did look smooth.
however, the switching back to a winmo device from evo is a bit harsh. i would rather be beaten to death by kimbo slice with a g1 before doing such a thing...

They had a beta testing program but they closed it. I've been keeping my eye out to see I'd they open it up to testing again.
What's your setup? Sense is real smooth for me.

This is definitely a must have for the EVO.
If there has been no public development it is because some large company wrote a large check to either shelve it or use it in their own phones.

SPB Shell is not a theme. It's a launcher. And no, there's no way around it. Be a good end user and pay for it. Please.

Miui vs Sense 3.0/3.5

Go! Personally I am using Miui right now. I started on VU and then gave Miui a try. It feels a but quicker on Miui and their seems to be a lot more customization

Oh boy. I see this going south. I LOVE miui because it has sms popups, themes galore, a nice dialer, and awesome support.
Sense is beautiful, has many variations, the system apps and widgets go on forever, and it really shows off what android is capable of visually. That said, it seems to take a tremendous amount of work by devs to make sense ROMs easy on the ol' battery. That, from my point of view makes them bloated. But, they can be made into fantastic daily drivers as has been shown repeatedly.
Lately I've used MIUI.

You probably think that TJ is being harsh and ruining a fun thing. But you have to take into account that redundant threads like this pollutes the site and when a noob tries to do the right thing and search for a thread he/she needs it'll be harder to find. And all he/she will do is ask the question in a thread that's been answered many times. Thus, it all just creates the circle of problems.
Powered by a G2x
I ran both.
MIUI on Nexus One, which is incapable of properly running even Sense 2.1, having no devs to completely solve everything (trackball wake) and no graphical power to move it smoothly.
Sense 3.0 on MT4G, which is capable of running it fast and smooth.
Personally, I prefer Sense - it is visually and functionally better. While MIUI fixes a lot of things that stock Android did wrong (T9 dialer, notification bar toggles, launcher - in the aspect of adding widgets, smoothness and effects), it still falls short when it comes to Email, text selection (standard Android has selection position bugs and isn't nearly as comfortable as Sense), and just overall visual experience. But MIUI is small and fast, and on older phones it counts - and it supports A LOT of phones that have no better options. So, for me, if the phone can't run Sense or TouchWiz properly - MIUI would be the next best thing to choose.
I go to miui once in a while but find myself coming back to sense 3.0/3.5 only because its just so awesome... Sense is hands down the best thing that happened to android it adds so much to android... Basic stuff like browser ,mail, contacts integration made perfect.... Sense makes android beautiful with brains but miui on the other side is definitely for lower power phones like say moto defy or something like that... Btw love both of them

using Galnet Scotland's latest miui build. Smooth and quick and gorgeous!
Too bad miui has such an iphone look to it.
If I wanted iphone, I would've bought one.
I don't get why people have suck a huge issue with the "it looks like an iPhone" then install a custom launcher... have you tried it yet? Yes the system looks a little iphonish, I'll give you that, lol.

It's such a pet peeve when people compare MIUI to the iPhone. In no way are they even remotely the same.
The only thing that's similar about it is the fact that it has no launcher. Other than that, MIUI is more Android than anything else.
Does iOS have widgets? What about transition effects? A pull down notification tray with an array of toggles? Hundreds of themes and really nice lock screens?
The list goes on.

new to android......

hey guys, im finally moving to android after using wm6.5 for the last 2 years. i hoping you can answer a couple of questions for me.......
my xe is arriving today and im pretty sure i'll be sticking to stock rom as i did on my hd2 but im wondering, how do i go about changing icons to my own designs and can i install user made widgets without having to flash anything. that was the thing i loved about my hd2, i skinned just about the whole phone so im hoping android will be the same.
sorry for the truely newb questions but im totally new to the scene......
thanks for any advice.....
Not sure about widgets, but icons will be easy. There's an app called Desktop Visualizer that lets you do this. You could also run a different launcher that has options for this. Keep in mind your app icons will look the same in your app drawer, though.
Yes you can install any widgets just by putting the APK on your phone and running it.
thanks for the tips guys, im sure i'll soon get the hang of android.....APK sounds like a good start, i'll check it out.....
I tip my hat to you for using wm6.5 for that long sir. Well done.
