I have been using ec01 since it was released. First I used sfc (fixed) then about two days ago switched to evil fascinate 3.1(fixed). It was working fine with no problems. I didn't really see a jump in data speeds but gps was working great until today. I was traveling from central WI to Chicago when I lost service around the Illinois border. My phone says "searching for svc" and has no service, voice/data or gps. I have flash back to ec10 stock and tried to *228 but it will not connect and still has no service. Ive tried to flash to everything that has worked in the past included back to 2.1. Any help would very awesome as i am lost.
My understanding is to never *228 while roaming. It could connect to another cell provider and no way to get back. Others may be of better assistance with your issue.
Sent from my SCH-I500
I have also had this recently and I was about to start a threat just before reading this.
I live in SE WI and work in IL. So I cross the border all the time. My data and voice dont work at all until I come back into WI. I was running CyanogenMod 6.2.0 when this first happened. It seemed to run fine for a week or so.
I switched back to what was running good before. Now Im running jt's TW kernal, sFc 2.9.2. Last night when I went to work, it did it again. No data and voice.
Is this a USCC issue?
Any help on this would be very very appreciated.
EDIT: I just called USCC. After 1/2 hour of being on hold they said that they are having difficulty with the towers in the area. They said to do a battery pull, and then when I am in the area where I am about to lose service, dial *228. Im not to familiar with *228.
When I cross the border and lose my data/voice, I dont get a roaming triangle. Does that mean its safe to dial *228?
So after two failed calls to USCC tech support (one told me that it was just a combination of poor service and how smartphones have sub-par reception in general, the other said that that to spring bloom can interfere and a lack of towers) I flashed to stock froyo and took it to the nearest USCC store from my hotel. The tech there said there is two versions of the froyo release, a "short" version (the on their website) and a "long" version (used by the techs). He said about 1 in 50 updates done at home come in with problems. He put the long version on and I was up and running in 15 mins. So until my trip is over I will be running stock 2.2
Long version, you say? Fixed all your problems, you say? Do you think you'd be able to upload a backup of that version? Or even just the PRL? I haven't been able to get any service since it seemed to spontaneously quit on me after I flashed MIUI 1.6.24.1. My sister has also been having problems with her USCC service for the last couple of days, and I think i just chose a poor time to start fiddling with my phone's firmware.
Hey guys, earlier today i lost service in my house, which has never happened. I flashed the new EP1Q modems a couple days ago and they have been working well until now. Figured something must have happened with the modem so i went to reflash it, but the flash failed during the CDMA modem part. Tried flashing EE4 modems, same thing happened. Followed imnuts guided to fixing phone, but both roms included got stuck at same spot while flashing. Anyone know how to fix this?

did they actually fail? I know the CDMA modems take quite a while to flash in which it looks like Odin is 'stuck'

Flashing with the battery in or out? When you're flashing, does the text on the screen of the phone change when it gets to cp_modem.bin?
using odin v1.82. I'll redownload the modems and give it another shot.

Flashing with the battery in. But since this happened i can no longer get my phone into download mode without putting the battery in first. I have a progress bar on the phone until that step, then the progress bar goes away, and all that's left on the screen is the "VIA" message that's always there. I forget what it says though.
To be more specific, here is the process i took today to try to fix the problem (Repeat of last night). Tried to flash EP1Q modems through odin: Failed during cp_modem. Tried to flash EE4 modems: failed during cp_modem. Redownloaded EE4 modems: same failure. FLashed the pit file and re-partitioned phone: successful. Flashed the ED1 package in OP: I get a progress bar until completion of lte modem, then progress bar goes away, screen says VIA reset done. Odin acts like it's fllashing the modems, then fails after about 1 minute. Tried different full odins, same result. Hope being more specific helps things. Should mention my phone does boot into what appears to be stock ED1, but now there is a SIM card error as well as the no service problem.

damn, worst case scenario you may have fried your radio or 4G sim if its not flashing anything properly and you get no service... if its really stock (so they don't suspect foul play) i'd take it into VZ and see what they have to say

Well, took my phone into VZW to have them take a look at it. Luckily, the sales rep. i got knew less about the phone than my little sister. Turns out i was getting a sim card error because i put it in upside down *DERP*. However, it did give me an excuse as to why i wasn't getting any service. Rep. started messing with settings and screwed things up worse. Long story short, new phone will be here monday. =) Thanks for the help. Think i'm going to wait a while before i root this one, seems like my kind of luck to have something like this happen to me.
*Edit: Did some more research, looks like you were right anoninja. The CDMA radio is fried. But lte seems to be working. Too bad the nearest lte area is 3 hours away. haha.
Same thing happened to me on my first Charge. The bad part is that it didn't happen with Odin...it was the OTA stock EE4 update that did it. It installed, then after the reboot, I didn't have voice or 3G service, but I was getting LTE, and the About Phone screen reported "Unknown" radio version for CDMA radio. Verizon replaced without any resistance, but the phone was basically brand new at the time. Not sure how they'd be now, two months later.

Verizons got tons of issues with 3G/4G combo phones and the signal handoff between the radio and 4G sim. This is most likely due to these phones being the 'first gen' of 4G, we are kind of almost unpaid beta testers for it. As much as it sucks tbh I'm not surprised to see how many people have had to get new sim cards or replacements due to bad radios

i had the same error on EE4 and called verizon no help went back to EP1F and my sim was working again
Ever since I flashed GB I have not been able to get signal in my work (3 bars on stock froyo).
I used the stock modem in Valhalla.
Then I tried KF2....
Each time I go to mobile networks, it wont even recognize T-Mobile, only shows AT&T.
I went outside at work, searched again, and was able to register fine. I do not think it is an IMEI or hardware issue because of this.
I searched, but did not find much.... is this odd or common?
Anyone have suggestions for this?
Thanks.
I've had the AT&T thing happen before with some GB modems, but only if I am in an area with really really week signal (like inside my condo). I flashed the KD1 modem, and it does work a bit better.
With KD1, I can get 1, sometimes 2 bars if I put the phone in a certain spot on my dresser, and it won't jump to AT&T.
Nice, will try that one now. Coincidence that I had t-mo swap my sim card yesterday. I am on the phone with them now to see what they can do, if anything.
I'll give it a whirl soon.
Well, called T-Mo... they tried some things... no luck. Flashed a few modems... no luck.
Now, it is working. Maybe just an outage here.
For some reason I cannot connect to 3G. I can only get 4G or 1x. I've been running cm10 for awhile and I've switched back and forth between different ROMs including back to stock and other TouchWiz ROMs. I've not really sure when this happened because I didn't really notice at first, seeing as how I'm in a strong LTE area. I've tried using phone info and using the settings in cm10 under mobile networks. The strangest part of it is that in phone info, if I set it to EvDo only, my bars go empty.
I've updated to the latest modem, and like I said, I've tried different ROMs and even different kernels. I've used Odin to get all the way back to stock unrooted and everything. I can't figure out what could be causing this.
I lost my IMEI weeks ago but got it back so I don't think that's the issue.
Any help that I get can get would be really appreciated.
Thanks
As the title states, my 4g isn't working, i took a trip out to pittsburgh, while downtown i had terrible coverage. i dropped my phone at one point and noticed a while later that my 4g wasn't working when i did have service. Got back home and i still had no 4g. I have tried factory reseting phone, flashing a ruu back to stock, taking the ota updates, flashing new firmware, and getting and activating a new sim card. I am at my wits end trying to figure this out. im thinking my hardware is broken at this point, but it is still coming up that i get 3g. the data speed is so bad i basically only use it on wifi now. i dont want to have to take it to verizon and have them tell me im sol if they find out was playing with it(root, recovery, roms, etc...) anybody have any input would be most appreciated.
This isn't likely to help if it was caused by physical damage but have you done a factory reset with the stock recovery installed (or after ruu'ing)?
Just tried the reset with the factory recovery. And via hboot. Still stuck on 3g. During the reset via recovery though I kept getting a message saying something to the extent of "No "E" partition found. Cannot format. Retrying." I also used to run an aosp rom as well. That's when I noticed the lack of 4g.
