I'm looking into setting up an SIP account to cut down on my mobile minute usage. It sounds like there are numerous methods to accomplish this.
The most important thing to me is that when I make an outbound SIP call, that my mobile number shows up on the person I'm calling's, caller ID.
Is there a way to set things up so when I make calls my mobile numbers shows on the other persons caller id?

In windows mobile 5.0 PPC Phone device I am able to make a call using default phone dialer(cprog.exe) but dialer shows contact name as well as phone number.I want to show only cantact name while calling(phone number should be hidden).
Can anybody Let me know how can i hide outgoing call caller id ?
My network (AT&T) has a setting which allows me to display my caller ID only to contacts. When I call a number in my address book.contact list, they can see my number but if I just dial a number not in the list, they can't.
But I've noticed that when I call people who are in my contact list from my call history, they see my number as "private". It's easier to dial someone from the call history list than to pick them from the huge contact list I have.
Is there a way to show my caller ID (a registry hack perhaps?) to people who are in my contact list, even if I dial them from my call history?
I'm using a Tilt that runs Windows Mobile 6.1, but I've seen this issue with both Windows Mobile phones I own (the other one is a Cingular 2125 smartphone with Windows mobile 6.1), so I think this is a general Windows Mobile issue than a phone issue.
Does anyone know where I can find a vanilla caller ID app (same as home phone) for Win Mobile 6.0? I know there are all sorts of free services which use the web for caller id info, but I don't use a data plan.
So far as I can tell my cell phone only shows numbers (like when the hospital calls, it's only a number, but on the residential line at home, caller ID shows the hospital name and number (hence caller ID)...
Anyway, I just want to be able to see the name with the number (I assume cell networks transmit this information the same as land-lines -yes?)...

Good day. Sometimes when calling new numbers, you don't want them to see your number. I would like to know how to automatically hide your phone's number when calling new numbers and then automatically switching back (if one desires) so your number gets shown.
Does Android have this functionality or there is an app for this?
Thanks.
when you call a number user in front of the number #31# and you will call with hidden call id.
when use #31# you will call with hidden id, when you don't use you call normaly/

Thanks, but i was wondering if there is an instant "touch solution" where you simply pull up contact and choose option to call from hidden number or when you call first time new number.
Where did you learn about #31# by the way?
I don't remember but you can find many usefull information about this on google/wiki.
i.e code for hidden calls or something like that!

Wondering if any developers here can confirm the following:
I know the native Phone app and other Call apps have the ability to allow you to block numbers in which case the call doesn't ring through.
I thought like a couple years ago I read that's not the case with SMS apps. They can 'hide' the number from your SMS messages list but you'll still get the notification at the time the SMS is received. Is this true for all SMS apps for Android 11 or later or can they actually prevent notifications of received messages from numbers you block?
My second question is, on virtually all Phone / Call apps, you'll see the Caller ID Name for incoming calls (where the name isn't blocked, or the number isn't in your Contact list). I get semi-frequent scam/sales calls and they are all from numbers that no person or company name comes up, only the phone number. Since the Caller ID name is displayed when there is one, I would assume the Android Call apps have access to this data value.
Yet, all call blocking features I've seen in all apps I've tried, only have the ability to manually block the number, or, enable a setting to block all calls from numbers not in your Contact list. I'm just flabbergasted that none of these apps also have the option to "Block all calls with no Caller ID Name that are not in your contact list." If the Caller ID Name value comes across as the phone number itself, the app can easily see that it matches or that there are no letters in the Caller ID Name and block it. The only reason I can think of that this type of blocking feature isn't available in a single call app is that for some reason the Caller ID Name is displayed by the system, not the app, and the app doesn't have the ability to read the Caller ID Name Value? I would be really surprised if that were the case as it doesn't make sense that the app displays it but can't perform any feature based on the Caller ID Name value???
