I unrooted my phone click "unroot" using original OCLF thinking i didn't need this app anymore being i rooted the phone using usb and one click root when i flashed the cognition rom. Now i actually unrooted the phone and i uninstalled the original oclf and the new version does not let you root. How do i reroot my device? When i follow steps to reroot it has a red screen when im in reboot menu, i believe it is voodoo lag fix gives me many option but i use the power button to select reboot phone since i do not know what to do. Please help thanks!!
hmmm. You can search for root options on 2.2. You xan asks back everything up and reflash the rom.

how do i reflash if i cant even root my phone tho? when i try to use one click root, the phone goes into boot menu but all letters are red, and talks about voodoo lag fix, i will try again and post all the options that the phone gives
Disable lagfix, select install zip from sd in recovery. You do not need root to flash a rom as long as you have clockwork recovery. The red recovery will work

ok obviously i'm still kinda new to this, i somewhat understand what you mean, is there anyway you can give me better directions in steps? I know you are using your phone, thanks for the quick responses. how do you disable lag fix, and the rest of the steps?
Disable lagfix
Boot phone to on
Go to my files app
Look for voodoo folder
Inside voodoo folder create a new folder named disable-lagfix
Reboot, you will hear the voices.
flash rom
Make sure rom is on your sd
Long press power button
Select recovery
Once in recovery select install zip from sd
Then select choose zip or something like that
Find the cognition rom
Select
Select again
It is likely when the rom boots voodoo will still be disabled
To re enable go back to voodoo folder on sd, open, delete disable-lagfix folder, reboot. You will hear the voices

ok i used one click root to force root file that i renamed, it then rebooted phone to a red menu, "clockworkmod recovery v2.5.1.3 - voodoo lagfix" options are:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from sd card
backup and restore
advanced
voodoo lagfix
go back...
Can i select install zip from sdcard from here, is that what you were meaning?
Also on a different note, i have the xda app how do you get notifications from my post?
The rom works fine, so do i need to flash it again, or is this the method i will need to flash all over again to be able to root?

Ok please make sure the program you used is for 2.2. If so click apply sd card update zip.
I do not receive notifications, when I am bored and watching tv I am pretty much always playing around. If I am helping someone I am mindful to keep an eye out.
Edit. I love swype but sometimes the words it puts in there are crazy

Your said you did the One click root. Did the program specify for 2.2
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
the root method i download was from a thread with video and instructions on how to flash a rom from 2.1 to a custom froyo rom. so if i get this right, your saying i need a file that roots a 2.2 phone? so i need to find in xda one click root for 2.2 right?
Well thanks for being bored and being helpful.
yes swype does put in the weirdest words sometimes
any idea on a 2.2 rooting file? or search?
my biggest bugs with swype are with the words "want" always come up with wasnt. and a few others but "want" bugs me the most
http://www.multiupload.com/02RXSWORVC
Try this. I found it in a search. It should be a download of an update zip to root froyo.save to sd, select apply update.zip in recovery. Make sure file is named update.zip
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
ok, just want to get this right, copy file to internal sd, rename "update.zip" then reboot phone to menu right? holding volume buttons and power right? then select reinstall packages? or will it prompt me to select update.zip from sd card

Stock Nandroid Restores for 2.22 Froyo and 2.33/2.34 GingerBreadfor T-Mobile G2x LG P999 only!
(These Nandroid restores are not rooted and are in complete stock condition.)
Instructions:
1. You must have ROM Manager installed and or ClockworkMod Recovery flashed and an external sdcard installed. Then have the directory and file contents of the "LG-P999-V10f.zip" or "LG-P999-V20e.zip" file extracted to your external SDCard in the /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/LG-P999-V10f directory. If the directory does not exist then create it.
There must be a directory called "LG-P999-V10f" or "LG-P999-V21e" or "LG-P999-V21y" in the "/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup" subdirectory and the files must be directly in that directory, not in another nested directory or Nandroid will not find the files. (Note: If you have any spaces in your directory name. You will get a md5 check some error.)
2. Run ROM Manager and choose Reboot into Recovery or boot phone into clockworkmod recovery.
3. In recovery go down to backup and restore, choose restore.
4. Select LG-P999-V10f or LG-P999-V21e or LG-P999-V21y and choose Yes - Restore.
5. When the restore finishes do not reboot yet. Do a "wipe data/factory reset" from the recovery menu (just to be thorough).
6. When it completes choose Reboot.

Just to clarify a bit. Drop the folder into clockworkmod/backup/ on your SD card. Made no sense when I first looked at the file path.
Tried this as a restore since my connectivity still sucks. I am getting a MD5 miss match. . . . What ever that means, I have no idea.

i installed rom manager on my phone but i dont see the clockwork mod folders on the sd card? do i have to make them?
just traded in my defective g2x! thanks for your rom your a lifesaver
I have been trying to install the Bionix Frost SGS4G rom from team whiskey, but I am having a lot of trouble doing so. I downloaded the file posted in the original thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119986), downloaded Rom Manager through my phone, then CWM through ROM Manager. I attempted to install the .zip file from the SD through ROM manager. Everytime I click the button to install from my SD card, I choose the folder and then my phone restarts and hangs on the "Galaxy S" startup screen. After about a minute, it starts up normally. I know I must be doing something wrong, so would it be possible for someone to walk me through installing this ROM (in somewhat detail)? Thank you in advanced!
I don't know specifically what's going on, but I just installed it on an otherwise stock+rooted T-Mobile SGS4G and it worked splendidly. Did you follow their steps exactly (emptying the cache and all that, and mounting /system)?
Thanks for the quick response. I never get the options to mount/clear because once I choose the .zip file, the phone restarts. I also have rooted, but otherwise stock. I haven't done much with it. Did you just put the zip file on your sd card and run from rom manager? Im not sure if there are any steps prior to this that I am missing. Thanks.

more attempts
ok. i uninstalled ROM Manager. Then I went to the CWM Final Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099374) and downloaded the 2 files. I Used Root Explorer to overwrite my recovery file. Then I placed the update.zip file onto my SD Card. I just dragged and dropped into the SD card. It is not in a folder or anything and located in /sdcard on my phone. Then I redownloaded the Bionix Frost SGS4G rom and placed it in my /sdcard directory as well. I reboot my phone press the power button, along with both volume buttons to get into recovery. I get into the "Samsung Recovery Utils --for BML--, I see the options to reboot system now, reinstall packages, delete all user data and delete cache. But before I do this, I want to be sure I am on the right track. This is the recovery screen that everyone uses right? I do not see anywhere that it says ClockworkMod. If it is, I know I will have to choose "delete all user data", followed by "delete cache data". But after this step, how do I get to the options to "Mount storage and mount /system"? Thank you for all of the help
Click on reinstall packages ... that will load update.zip and that's how u get into cwm

I'm not sure if you got your problem fixed because I haven't read all the way thru this thread. But I had similar problems from what you described when I installed Bionix Black Ice with voodoo lag fix. I found that when I flashed the rom things didn't work right. My fix, after making a backup of everything, do a data/factory reset, then delete the cache, then delete delvik cache, then flash your new rom. After that, reinstall your apps thru the back up you created and all is good. I am using CWM to flash with and My backup root to backup my apps, files and what nots... Hope this helps!
sea, thats great advice. also, if you guys get any force closes, go back into cwm and go to advanced and fix permissions.
I posted this in the general section, but no one has answered it. Please release the platypus egg kernel as a .zip file or post a link to where I can download the kg2 odin file so that I can flash the bali port. I want voodoo and refuse to flash an entire rom just to get voodoo.
check the heimdall thread i have it posted there last 2 pages
heimdall isnt working on my computer unless you posted an odin file in that thread its not going to help me.
Unless you are in love with the Samsung launcher vs. GOv2's Launcher Pro (or my preferance: download ADW.Launcher), there is no reason not to upgrade to GOv2 and get all the other tweaks in addition to the Kernal.
I know you say you've had trouble in the past, but just try it like this:
1) Boot in to CWM with the GOv2 zip on the sdcard.
2) Check your mounts
3) Run a backup
4) Check your mounts
5) Wipe data, wipe cash, wipe dalvik-cache
6) Check your mounts
7) Flash GOv2
8) Check your mounts
9) Advanced-Restore data partition only
10) Check your mounts
11) Reboot
Best case, everything works great and you just upgraded the Kernal as well as many other good things / tweaks, while still keeping all your apps and all your config.
Worst case, just boot in to CWM and restore what you currently have. You only waste about 15min of your life in trying, and I don't see how GOv2 could have any drawbacks over stock+bali (other then the alternate Launcher and themed icons/widgets - I installed AWD, unthemed all my icons, and I love the transparent-black widgets).
You should NEVER need to Odin unless you can't get in to CWM (which should never happen).
NOTE: When I say check your mounts, each partition on that CWM page should read "unmount" (meaning they are currently mounted). Check your mounts before/after each step, including before the final reboot.
I know how to check mounts. I want to keep touchwiz because of the themes. I really like the stock themes, and none of the launchers from the market have the option to view the app drawer as a list. if they did, i would consider using one of them. the stock themes are not really what is important. viewing the app drawer as a list is. my process thus far has been as follows: odin to kd1, kies to kj2, root, backup, flash rom, then restore system only from the backup. it hasnt been stable enough so far, but right now i am considering trying it a little different. i am going to get back to stock kj2, then delete all bloatware and all google apps from the system, then backup, then flash, then restore system from the backup, then reinstall any apps i want from the market. I also have the .apk file for play store, so i am also going to delete market and market updater before backing up. then after restoring system, i am just going to install google play store from my sd card. if anyone has any thoughts, please respond soon. i already odined back to kd1, getting ready to do kies to kj2. that takes a few minutes as i have to unplug the phone from the pc and reinstall the drivers through kies.
But I would prefer to just flash the kernel. I dont see any reason why they wouldnt release it.
well, after a very lengthy and complicated process, i finally have the platypus kernel on kj2. here is what i did. i started kies mini but didnt plug my phone in yet. i just went to menu and install driver. then i odined. after reboot, unplug the phone, back to kies, install drivers again. plug phone in and update firmware through kies. after reboot, unplug and install driver again. turn on usb debugging and root through super one click. reboot. install drivers again. then go through the system and delete all google and tmobile apps. get cwm running and take a backup. connect mass storage and copy b2tb to sd card. flash according to instructions. reboot. let the phone sit while i walk my dog. come back, boot into recovery, select advanced restore, system only. fix permissions, wipe dalvik, reboot. reinstall desired apps through market website. that was all last night. today i supercharged. so far so good.
well, its been almost 24 hours since i finished everything up. stable so far. no random reboots, no force closes, no screen lag or freeze, no crashes. i kept my backup from before the flash, just in case. gonna give it another day or two to make sure everything really is stable, then take a backup of the current setup. once i do that, im leaving this phone the hell alone lol.
To clear the record, I never had trouble flashing roms except for once and it was because i flashed cwm through rom manager before i knew not to do that. my most recent trouble started when i attempted to move dalvik to my ext2 partition. something went wrong when i attempted to move dalvik, and it got deleted. i had a backup and tried to restore, but got an md5sum mismatch. i did a factory reset through voodoo and it screwed up my apn settings. i restored default settings, but it didnt work. so basically after much trial and error, i have a stable advice again.

i don't have a flashable zip unfortunately, but what i've been doing is flashing the zimage thru Odin. if that helps you at all, if you're comfortable with Odin, i've been meaning to upload the tar file for the kernel that i made to this thread:

Reboot to CWR
Wipe data/cache
Format /system
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Restore Backup
