I was never into it, but I know a lot of you are. Enjoy.

"And people who have purchased the game in alpha, will get all future versions of the game for free"
Or something like that. That SHOULD apply to Minecraft Pocket Edition.
Anyways, it runs REALLY smooth on my Nexus S. Thanks for the link!
Pointless if your covering the screen with your fingers. You can't see anything!
Tablets and Xperia Play only!
working great here. Galaxy s II
Maybe it's just me that have slim fingers, but my fingers are not covering too much of the screen.
So lame that the release note said it was for all 2.2+ androids. Was happy that i could get it and then on the market it tells me my android is not campatible.

So, for the longest time, I wanted the TyTTN2. Then I wanted the HTC Touch Pro. And now, I don't know. The Touch Pro seems bulky to me, but I only have AT&T so my options are limited.
The Touch Pro also seems small compared to the iPhone. And the HTC Diamond HD made me realize that keypads on phones are outdated and boring. But that phone is a long ways off. And as AWESOME the weather features on the TouchFL0 is, I can't wait a year to see if the HD even comes to the US.
So what should I do? Should I get an iPhone or not? Will I like it? Is it a good phone? Easy to mod? Wide variety of apps? Should I stick with HTC? What am I looking at planwise? I have a family plan so I'd like to just add the iPhone onto it. Do I have the option to not buy the internet as well? I planned on just using Wifi since it's pretty common where I love. Is the Safari browser still crappy and limited? Could I get Opera on it?
There's a ton of questions I have, but I don't know if I will get enough answers. Thank you to everyone who reads this and tries to help! My history on XDA has been 100% positive. (Unlike every other board.) So this is a general "You guys rock" to the community here.
Ok lets see here.
I have a Tilt from AT&T I love it. There is a wide variety of Roms that you can use on it and many ways to tweak to your liking. If I can get my hands on a TouchPro I plan keeping it. It is a tad bit smaller than the Tilt I believe.
iPhone.....I like the functionality of iPhones but you can't modify them as much as you can the HTC devices supported by this community. Also iPhone apps are very limiited Imo
Yes you could just add it to your family plan though
No I believe they force you to add the internet to it.
No you have to use safari
did I miss anything? =)
I loved the Tilt when I saw it, so I will like the Touch Pro as well? I mean it's probably not as thick as I remember.
Lot's of apps? Can I load (a version of that) Super Monkey Ball iPhone game on it? Cause I love Monkey Ball lol. I know I can load lots of 90's RPGs and FPS's on them, which I'm thrilled for.
TouchFLO looks awesome.
So you think I should stick with the HTC? Because I really don't want to give money to Apple. I just saw 1. Monkey Ball 2. That "Use Camera To See Notes Left By People" and thought it was awesome. Also I like the idea of getting Google Maps GPS, and I don't know if the iPhone really does that.
I love HTC. I just wish we got their new phones and not their year old phones, but thats not HTC's fault.
If you get the tilt...no you won't be able to use Super Monkey ball like apps because the Tilt has no accelerometer but I believe the Touch Pro does.
Even though HTC kind of F'd Tilt users over by not giving us proper video drivers we have found ways around that and some brilliant users have made ones that work spectacularly.
To be totally honest I will probably be buying the next gen iPhone(yes i know it is pretty far away still) but that is because when I head off to college next year my friend and I who are planning on being room mates will be filling our dorm with apple stuff.
I'm not getting the Tilt. I'm going Touch Pro or iPhone

WTF dude? Why post this on the Captivate forum? This debate is tired already. I use a Captivate not an I Phone.
iPhone 4. It's got the 3g and the wifis
Posting it on the captivate forum is not gonna be biased at all.....
there was already a thread from a guy that was doing a debate for school asking for good arguments, and another comparison thread. search it.
android is a better thought out os but it has its problems. the captivate has a better gpu. they both have great screens, i like the amoled, but the iphone is is brighter which is good in the sunlight, iphone is better resolution which is good if you hold the phone close to your face but it may be overkill, i feel like the captivate could have better pixel density. neither is bad but if you want sugestions it depends on priorities.
how important is insurance?
will you want to video chat?
do you have friends with front facing cameras on there phones especially other iphone 4's or use webcams often?
do you take pics at night? captivate night mode is sometimes better in surprisingly dim light or for objects that are lighted at night but with no flash the camera is sometimes useless for portraits in a dark club setting or total darkness. led flash is only useful for portraits but if that's important to you then you might want an iphone.
how are you with a touchscreen? can you type on an iphone? swype is a good alternative to a keyboard.
do you use widgets? there are none on the iphone.
do you want to theme your phone?
do you like broken glass that cuts your fingers? slip on covers trap dirt that scratches the glass. scratches are stress risers and the glass breaks!
i can go on, but i think you already know what you like and can find out the information.
Well currently I have xperia x10 android phone and love it how customisable it is. Even you jailbreak Iphone you can't customize barely anything. Then apple release new firmwire and devs make more jailbreak. The only thing I want Iphone 4 is for apps and games and fps games. The reason I did vs Captivate. If Captivate can handle games like Iphone 4?

Better question: Why are you posting in the Captivate forum about this when you use an X10?
And if the games were made for Android, then they would play just as well, if not better then the iPhone4.

better!
galaxy s can handle games better than any other. g2 and mytouch 4g are the fastest phones but galaxy s has a better gpu.
get a captivate, root it, get samsung apps, temperarily change the build.prop to the gt i9000 build.prop and download asphalt 5. change build.prop back to stock. play asphalt 5. this is a version of asphalt 5 built for a galaxy s, the version number is lower than the one on the gameloft website because gameloft took out some of the open gl features so that the evo and driod x could run it better!
you will see better lighting effects and better framerates with this version on a galaxy s than the one on there website.
better andriod games will come soon and show off the galaxy s capabilities. there is a small number of high quality 3d fps games on the market because one device that doesnt sell as well as others isnt enough push for development. now that the g2 and mytouch 4g are close in the gpu area and many new phones will come soon there is likely to be some amazing new games coming out. especially from gameloft.
I think the Captivate's interface is better, even though Apple has a reputation for having better usability.
With iOS, Apple is surely lagging. Android OS is much better. The bugs people talk about just aren't there for me - they have been resolved. I also use beta ROMS, etc.
On to hardware. Honestly the touchscreen misses my intended target 1/100 times, with the iPhone 3GS it always registered what I wanted to click. I know 1/100 sounds small, but it bothers me.
Last part is third party software / hardware. iPhone has more docks, etc. Captivate has next to none. For the best apps - if it is on the iPhone, then it is on the Android. However, they are lagged. For instance, the iPhone Navigon app is farther advanced than the android Navigon app.
There ya have it.

Well you see, there were these winjas and nizards.....
From a phone on an app
What made the decision for me was the freedom the phone gave me. You could either have a phone where steve jobs dictates how ur phone is going to be, like it our not, or go with a phone that supports customization. I know a few people with galaxy s phones, and the beauty about them is, if you pick em up they look very different. With different launchers and widgets, you truly have more customization. And the beauty of widgets is your can get information without ever opening app. And there's swype.

Hacked Captivate >> Jailbroken iPhone 4 >>>>>>>>>>>>> iPhone 4 >>>> Stock Captivate
I have 2 or each on my AT&T plan.
Both are good choices, and wouldn't diss either one. Each go about what they do differently, and neither are perfect for everybody or everything.
My wife and I use the Captivates..both my sons use the 32 gig I 4 phones. We all like what they do and how they do it..so it really is a personal choice on what you get. Can you get bad ones of each..certainly..I've already had to have both of the I-phones go back already due to bad sim cards..so..nothing is perfect. Both of my Captivates are from the September build, and both have worked great.
All 4 of us are happy with them..I am happy with the Captivates, and am glad I can change it around easier than the I-phones..my sons are happy since they have used i-pods and i-tunes since they first came out. Both phones sound great..both look great..both give excellent call quality.
To me the biggest differences is the price of the phones. For next to nothing you can get a Captivate on a 2 year contract..not so with the I-phone.Another big difference is how much storage you can have with the Captivate. You can swap out the sd card and have tons of storage..you can't do that with the I-phone.
Look at all of the differences..and all of the applications and games you want to use.Go with the one you feel will suit your needs..and don't base it on other peoples needs.Lastly...If you want to be able to change things around and truely customize it easily..the I-phone may not be your best choice. If you just want a phone and keep it the way it is..then the I-phone may be the best choice. Then again..if none of this is applicable to you..you may just prefer how one looks and feels over the other and base it on that when you go to get it .Like I said..it is a personal choice than anything else since neither is 100% perfect.

^^^Like him, I have a Captivate and my son & daughter have Iphone 4's. After visiting my daughter and playing with her Iphone 4 I noticed 2 things that gripe me: 1) The Iphone 4 can orient google maps in a "heads up" mode..and 2) The iphone 4 can pinch to zoom in the gmail app. Being an android (made by google right?), I'm amazed that our Captivate can't do that..especially #2. My 50+ eyes really have a hard time with the tiny font in the gmail app...and there's no way to increase it -in 2.1 at least
soooo maybe my dream might come true after all.... http://videogamewriters.com/monster-hunter-coming-to-iphone-10837
if they put this on the IOS i pretty sure they will port it to Android fast =) i cant wait for this on xperia play.... top seller right there
My dream too, but if it's like the iOS port then no thanks!
This need to be a launch title for Xperia Play in Japan though
Looks so painful to play on just the touch screen..
Makes me wonder why the iPhone gets these games...it's not like they are any fun on that phone.
and this is the result [1] (youtube video attached for those who just want to take a glimpse). I would be very glad if I could get some feedback from you guys, or at least give it a go and test it on different devices. The game was developed on HTC HD2 and also I've seen it running on Galaxy S and that's it.
Cheers!
[1] oh and because I'm new here, I obviously can't post any links If some more privileged user could do it for me I would appreciate it. The game is called "Rocket Craze" and is available on Google Market.
Here you go

people of good will still exists! thank you grandelama
Could anyone of you guys check if the game (latest version 1.0.16) runs properly on Samsung Galaxy S2, as the previous version purportedly crashed when starting the launch of the rocket.

It losses control once I tilt my phone any bit. HTC EVO 3D.

Yes this is how it was implemented. It should be hard at the beginning (the engine thrust is not so different than gravity force), but it gets better as soon as you do the upgrades. What do you think should I change it, by making the first engine little bit more powerful?
As for lagging issue, I'm doing a bit of an offscreen rendering to make fire look like it looks now and that is one of the reasons the game runs slowly < 20 fps on some devices. Still I'm trying to move some of the functionality to the GPU rather than CPU, to make it less laggy on less powerful devices. But given the fact that christmas are coming I probably won't be able to improve the performance this year. Sorry :/
Still, somebody please test it on Galaxy S2, as this definitely crashed on versions < 1.0.16
On G2x it just steers to one side or the other and the rocket crashes instantly, regardless of tilting.
Which is too bad, because it looks like it would be a really fun game.

I've changed the sensitivity as well as I've fixed the error which occurred on some (for example S2) devices. It seems that the OpenGL's RGB framebuffers are not supported on some smartphones and instead I've choosen the RGBA.
If somebody could find a bit of time and retest the game I would appreciate it.
Cheers
Working much better now. Thank you!
This is a pretty fun game, and quite challenging.
I appreciate your work on this!
Love it.
Thanks for your hard work!
Regards and thanks.
Man, this is hard! Whatever i do the rocket ALWAYS takes a 180 and dives. This happens even before the petrol is empty, and it's pointed upwards. Fun game though!
Edit: OK, gets a little better after the first upgrade.
I'm glad that it behaves better now.
Still, I would like to ask somebody a favour. Recently I've received an email from Amazon saying that they're having some problems running my application on Kindle Fire. And because I don't have the device in person (and probably I will not get it quickly) I'd like to ask somebody who would be kind enough to test the game on the device. Also, it is vital for me to obtain a logcat report in case of a force close or a crash situation. I know it is a long shot, but maybe somebody will find a bit of a time.
Cheers!

Hi guys,
Yesterday I've posted the newest version of the game 1.0.21 in which I've included some major changes of my drawing system. Those changes should make possible to play the game on lower-end devices, one of them which I recently bought and was quite surprised how badly the game was performing. Still, I know that more can be achieved when it comes for performance therefore I'm again asking for your feedback (especially from you guys with less powerful devices).
Hope you'll enjoy the game.
Cheers!

So I am a huge android gamer. I do not have a pc except at work and i do not have any console systems at home. I am really loving the development that is going on with some stuff Ive seen. Unity 3d and cloud gaming is gonna be huge i think.
My goal with this thread is to try to gather some of us android gamers together. I play all day at work and at home. I need something more than Modern Combat 4 haha. Its a great game but im looking for some huge sprawler. I have seen wildblood from gameloft, looks amazing. I am trying to figure out what people are playing on this device. maybe develop a little support thread for us gamers to unite and share what we have found with each other. I havent really been able to find anything about it anywhere for our device. seems all the attention is always on the one x. our phones are powerful....lets unleash it!
I agree. I'm down to play whatever multi player/coop games we have. Let me know!!
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
re
I would be too. I guess MC4 multi is only on wifi, but im sure there are some good things out there. I really am sort of enjoying Aralon. Played it?
Am i to assume that really no one plays any games on our device?!
Its too small to do any serious gaming on
What do you mean too small? I play stuff on it all the time. Classic games for sure. I even tried OnLive and demoed the free demo for Darksiders 2 and it worked awesome. Im trying to figure out pairing my ps3 controller for better use, but you could even do mhl out and play dead trigger and whatnot with a ps3 controller. Havent heard of the Ouya? well our phone is powerful as well, i see no need to buy a console when i have one in my hand.
Figuring out compatibility with games that I know the unit could run, i.e. Horn and Six Guns. Let me know if anyone is interested in this as well, I think we should work together as I see no real gaming support community out there. If anyone knows one please let me know.
Too small: When using touchkeys, your fingers covers half the screen and you cant see where youre going
Controller, sure, but unless you have one that can dock the phone, you face another problem - the screen is too far away and therefore too small.
Now a tablet on the other hand have plenty of space for your fingers and can easily be seen when using a controller
So, therefore: The One S is too small for serious gaming
Edit: Whats wrong with six guns? Seems to work just fine?
gameklip acttaches phone to controller. i can play fine with touch controls, maybe youre not a good gamer.
woa that was uncalled for. In that case - maybe youre an 8 year old girl with paperthin fingers?
maybe, im just saying that why should i have multiple devices? i already have a powerful device.
No one said that. You asked if you were to assume nobody played games on the one S, and I answered "its too small" as the reason as to why I dont play 'hardcore' on it.
And Im sure Im not alone.
well thats a great answer i guess. Now as far as people that would actually like to do so? any input there?
