Has anyone flashed this on i9000 or i897?

since it is really only the update to google talk we are interested in not the radio and other b.s.
apps yes, kernels (from complete different devices) no.
so the 2.3.4 rom is useless without the kernel
otherwise we would have 3.0 honeycomb ported from honeycomb devices, and then we would say screw 2.3.4
its more than just the gtalk. otherwise it would just be an app update!
not saying that it would work but, there is no kernel in that update.
we would need top modify it EG: take out the radio.

cant flash it as is.
parts can be ripped and ported yes. to cm7 or anything, gtalk already done.
but cant flash that "samsung firmware" as it is.

Unless you installed a front facing camera on your galaxy s, 2.3.4 would be pointless (even if it was possible). Stick with 2.3.3 for now. I hear some very un-official rumors about 2.4 coming late this year or mid next year.

Samsung allready did the ffc for us.
CM7 for galaxy S is also on 2.3.4

Anyone thats rooted get the 2.3.5 update? I keep checking and it say no update available, but looks like its not even searching. Any one else having any more luck?

Just download the update from google, extract the radio image, and flash with fastboot. Yes, has better reception/ download speeds
not trying to cause trouble but realy, hearing somebody insult another user is compleatly uncalled for! we are all here to help each other defeat the big cell companys!, not be assholes.. if somebody post wrong, please correct them and move on...beside if you keep insulting nubes, how the f*** do you expect the fourm to grow and get donations for your awsome work...please correct the person and move on. we were all nubes at once. and life goes on... im sure we didnt come out of the vagina fourm pros...:+)

I booted up and installed it, but I think it just installed the radio, where could I possibly get the 2.3.5, kinda hoping for the battery life.

It is not on 2.3.4 it is on 2.3.5 - if you are still showing 2.3.4 that you did something wrong.
I just flashed the zip and mine says 2.3.4

I wiped cache and dalvick cache and then flashed. Was there something else I needed to do before I flashed it?
I did that too and mine still said 2.3.4

The Gingerbread rom is available for download already in the O2X section. I downloaded it yesterday. It is 2.3.4 for the O2X. I am planning on porting it to the G2X just for the fun of it.

The O2X and G2X are both LG Star hardware.

New one based on the new Italian 2.3.4 LG UI rom. The one I posted was ported from a prototype device made for Tracfone which is essentially identical to the G2X. The LG UI port will take longer, if I can get it working at all.

Maybe LG will give us ICS as a little Christmas present. They also said the o2x will get ICS. I just hope they don't put a custom overlay on that. I just wish ICS will only be completely stock.

The P999 ICS will be stock. The P990 ICS will most likely have the LG UI overlay and colorization.

I have my Skyrocket flashed with ICS and Kies hasn't received an update yet and still says that the skyrocket does not support upgrading through kies, is this because of the flashed OS or because not everyone has the update yet?
You need to be fully stock for it to update

I have an OTA waiting to DL & recieved a bit of info that the update is rolling out beginning today. I won't have time to pull the item out of que & look till after lunch. There is also one news article out there confirming what I was told this morning, I don't know his source, but I do know mine, so just maybe... Let you know later unles someone else in Texas has the time to go to stock & see what pops up for them.

It's being pushed out as we speak, but only to phones that have never been rooted or unlocked (there's some sort of security check). This is a "noobs only" OTA.
If you're not seeing it, try deleting your XDA account and recheck.
