Hello everyone! The problem is power button on my Asus TF. It needs to be pressed veeery hard and still it unlocks screen like only from 4th-5th attempt. That's annoying I would tell.
Is there any possiblity (tool for example) to make TF wake up from volume buttons (like in cyanogenmod 7) ?
Rooted 2.02 Prime ROM
Thx in advance for any help!
UPDATE: Just what I didn't want this issue to be, I now have a hardware power button issue. Not a software one... Guess it's RMA time!
I'm not so sure it is a hardware problem. Let me explain my situation.
My power button doesn't turn on nor turn off the tablet anymore. I cannot do a hard reset with the power problem depressed for 10-12 seconds like I used to be able to do. I'm not rooted otherwise I would use the Quick Reboot app!
I never had a hardware problem with my power button until just recently. After the 3.2.1 ASUS update it appeared that everything was fine, but a rogue app crashed the tablet (can't remember exactly which one, but I think I was installing some Equalizer/Sound apps to help with the speaker volume) and things weren't the same afterward.
I now have no way to power on the TF with the power button and need to attach the charging cable or dock for it to wake up!!!! Very annoying! I also cannot shut it off unless I let the display timeout or attach the dock and hit the lock key!
I've let it run down to 0% battery and then have had it do a (hard) restart, but that allowed the power button to turn on/of the TF for only a while. So I'm thinking it may be a software issue. Perhaps from the dock sleep fix we got from the latest ASUS 3.2.1 update?
Anyone else having issue with their power button? Would rooting help if it is a software issue?
Seems like your problem is not hardware yeah. Sorry for you, that should be rly annoying.
But mine i'm sure is hardware one ((
send it to asus for repair. i had the same problem and got it back
within 5 days. now everything is working well.
Well I did RMA the device today as the power button had become totally non-functional; I couldn't turn on/off the tablet nor could I do a shutdown (hold power button for 4+ seconds) or Hard Rest (hold down power button for 12+ seconds).
This time next week I hope to have my tablet back...

Hi, I´m having problems turning on my transformer pad. I need to connect it to the wall charger or keyboard dock to turn it on. After that, the transformer work ok and the power button work ok too. But, if I turn off it again, I can´t turn on pressing the button (nothing happens). I try with different roms and kernels, even I unroot and install original firmware and the problem persist. Can someone help me?. Because It´s not a button problem. Tnx
If it's like mine, you have to hold the button down for 10 or 20 seconds before it boots. It seems like forever, but it will eventually come on.
My Sensation has the Revolution HD3.6.2 by Mike. I started having issues with my sleep button where it would stop responding occasionally until eventually it would stop responding altogether when the phone was on and I could not put to sleep or wake up at all. Now, if I plug into charger with battery out then install battery it will not boot automatically or with holding power button at all. When removing charger it will boot automatically because the phone thinks the power button is always depressed. I have taken the phone case off and cleaned the area many times and it physically clicks normal with no response. I was going to try an updated ROM to see if this was a programming issue however since the phone thinks the power button is always depressed I can not use ROM manager, right when I click down or up it automatically loads that option. The rest of the phone works perfectly and do not want to replace due to a failed sleep/power button, are there options to working around the power button or anything else I should be doing?
Thanks
So I have a bricked Sensation?

ok then
It's not bricked. Don't worry software is fine. Sounds like a hardware fault that the power button contact has worn out.
All,
I have a TF700T and just acquired and fixed a TF300t. I have found that it does not work like the power button on my TF700. If I press the button and hold - I get a list of options from Shutdown to reboot among other things. This is not working on my 300. Doesn't do anything.
Also, if the 300 goes inactive as expected, the power button doesn't wake it up. The only thing that will is plugging in the charger and then unplugging right away and I get the lockscreen as would be expected if you pushed the power button.
The power button works if you press and hold - it will eventually reboot the tab.
This is the same in stock JB, ICS or my current CROMI 4.6.6.
If I do reboot, via software, the power button volume down does work to take me to the menu for accessing recovery???
Sounds like a hardware problem - probably not since it seems to work at reboot. Most likely software .... but can't figure it out. I expect it will work like my TF700 - am I wrong?
Any help greatly appreciated (I did pull off the back and check the power button visually but looked normal to me)
TIA

Hey guys,
I unlocked my TF700T using the Asus unlock tool, then rooted it with Kingo App.
I opened a terminal on the device and ran "su" to verify that I had root, which worked I did.
I then installed com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup ("Titanium Backup ★ root") and began a full backup, but at 65% my Internet connection dropped (not sure if related, but interesting timing) and the system froze. After 10 minutes at 65% I powered off the device in an attempt to reset.
However, the device now will not start. The screen remains unlit. Charge LED will not light. Holding Power for 6 seconds and holding Power + VolDown result in a short (500ms?) vibrate, but nothing more.
I have not yet tried a paperclip reset, or connecting the dock. I have tried connecting to both USB and power. With USB, Windows 8 detects it as a crashed device (no surprise there) and fails to install a driver.
I suspect I'm hosed, but I'd be interested to learn why.
Any theories or suggestions?

Android 4.2.1
Firmware V10.6.1.14.10
Same behavior with dock connected.
After connecting power through the dock, the charge LEDs have both lit.
Ah just re-read and realised you only get a vibration but no screen..... Bummer - not sure what to suggest for that one.
Well, thanks for trying
Sell it for parts, I reckon.

Since you don't have much options, you can try these. I think that there were a few users were running into this problem and tried this. Some reported back that it was not working and some did not say anything. So I don't know if it works or not but you could give it a shot.
Try these combinations:
1. Hold the power button + volume up. You will feel the first vibration and keep holding both buttons until you feel the second vibration. As soon as you feel the second vibration, you need to release the volume up button But you must keep holding the power button. You need to hold the power button until you feel the third vibration. The third vibration is when your device is trying to boot up. You may want to try a few times with those sequences above in hope that it will bring up your bootloader.
2. If the above sequences don't work out for you, you can try this second solution. However, you need to hold both power button + volume down this time with those sequences above. Please report back with the outcome, thanks and good luck...:fingers-crossed:
Hi, I'm having a problem here.
I've had my Nexus since Jan 2014. Today, I accidentally dropped it from around 50cm (With Spigen armor case on) and suddenly, the hard buttons stop working.
I cannot turn my phone on but I can force restart it (when I long-press it) so I know its a hardware problem. I can go on recovery mode/bootloader and use the volume buttons and power buttons to select and all but I can't use it on my 5.0.1 L. I tried reflashing 5.0.1 but to no avail. Any help?
Thank you.
Bump-chikki-chikki-bump. I really need help, guys! It's my daily driver.
What do you want us to do? You said it was a hardware problem. Repair shop or RMA it...

Best option is to have it fixed.
Quick fix would be to flash a ROM or kernel with double tap to wake (DT2W).
Hmm. Okay, noted. Thank you.
Are you sure it's a hardware problem? You said the power button works when you hold it down to restart the phone. I'm having the same issue where the power button (AND VOLUME BUTTONS) don't work in any ROM but I can hold down the power button and volume button to get into recovery and restart. It's only intermittent too so sometimes it will start working and then sometimes it stops for no reason and I can't work out any pattern. even reflashing a rom doesn't fix.

Same here!!
I've been searching for possible causes and fixes for the EXACT same issue - hardware buttons work fine in bootloader but unresponsive in Android. I've only ever run stock and reflashing made no difference.
I am of the assumption that it's NOT a hardware issue, since long-press to reset works fine and volume/power buttons consistently work OK in bootloader (not intermittent at all).
Since I've reflashed to stock several times to no avail, I guess the next option is RMA. I do keep pondering if this is a Lollipop-created issue, but that doesn't fit the symptoms...
exactly, if it was a lollipop issue a lot more people would be having the same problem.
