I am on MIUI and just tried it and didnt work.

Some ROMs have it built in, I know for a fact that it's in:
BAMF
CyanogenMod
OMFGB
And also, you can download apps like:
Drocap2
ScreenshotER2
ShootMe
etc

Screen shot on gingerbread?

Is there a way to take screen shots on gingerbread with out an app? Or the sdk way? Like maybe a script or something? I know it's sorta possible on gingerbread. Like on some manufacturer themes like touchwiz 4 and lgs one. But touchwiz 3 on galaxy s doesn't so is there a way?

Hi Dude,
try HOME + BACK it should work.
first keep pressing back button and then press home. it will work.
cheers,
You can use the SDK + Eclipse (ADT plugin) to make screenshots from your computer.
That HOME + BACK button combo worked great to capture screenshots on my Gingerbread 2.3.3 SGS.
Cheers!

Accidentally activated screenshot mode?

Hey everyone,
I did some research regarding screenshots and it seems like it isn't that easy. But now comes the funny part. I kind of activated a screenshot mode, because everytime I pressed the home button on my Sensation it took a screenshot and put the file in my "camera shots" folder.
Since I couldn't exit some apps I had to reboot, but I have no idea, how I did this. Do you?
Some details:
Android 2.3.4 (official ROM)
Sense 3.0
Software 1.50.401.1
Kernel 2.6.35.13-g1e13373
Hope this is enough.
Greetings from Germany!
R u using any third party app for taking screenshot because if u are on the stock rom there is no option of taking the screen shot... If its a third party app probably you could just uninstall it...
I'm guessing that your power button is sticking, so when you press home it takes a screenshot.

What do you mean there is no option to do that on stock rom? Where do you get this info?
Fortunately, the member above knows what he's saying! yes there IS a way of taking a screenshot. That's activated by pressing power+home. I would also think your power button is sticking or something
Indeed there is a screenshot option implemented in the stock rom
It's triggered by holding the power button together with pressing the home icon.
So if it is triggered by itself auto when pressed the home icon, just get the back off and check if there might be any dust or hairs between the contact...
You guys are geniuses You were right, Power + Home takes screenshot. Is a simple explanation why it didn't happen after reboot.
Thanks!

Three undocumented functions of the sensation

I say they are undocumented because I have not found any reference to them in the sensation user manual or on any of several android forums. All these were found and documented using ICS 4.03 so I don't know it they work on other versions, but it won't hurt to try.
The first is "Safe Mode" this is like safe mode on a windows PC. It loads the OS without loading any low level apps and allows one to load apps one at a time to see which is causing a problem.
Power off -> power on -> when the htc logo appears hold the volume down key down until the device completely boots. There will be a "Safe Mode" notification in the lower left of the screen.
The second is power on without touching the power on button. With the screen off touch the home screen icon and swipe to the search icon - and voila the screen comes on.
The Third is taking a screenshot in a new way. The normal method of taking a screenshot is to depress the power button then hit the home screen icon. The hidden function is to tap the search icon and swipe to the home screen icon - and voila a new screenshot.
Nope, what ROM/Kernel are you running?
I'm pretty sure the last two swipe features are not things that are present in a stock ROM, as they are features in a custom ROM.

This is kernel function, sleep2awake to be more precise.
I have a stock XE non rooted on v4.0.4. I tried the swipe functions and they don't work, would be cool though.
In UK on 3
You can press both power button and volume down button for a screenshot too.
Since no one else can duplicate those I guess they are due to the ROM I just flashed which is ARHD 1.1.0 T-Mobile US. I need to update my signature file.
sleep2wake is kernel function and has absolutley nothing to do with ROM.
Unless ROM uses kernel that has support for it...
ADHD comes with Faux's kernel which also supports sleep2wake by swiping your fingers across the buttons. So this is obviously a misunderstanding.
That's pretty cool and nifty, especially the screenshot one. They all workes for me on leedroid.

[Q] How to take a screen shot on CleanRom5

hey all...i just flashed clean rom 5 and it's working great, however, I cant seem to figure out how to take a screen shot. I've searched the forums and cannot seem to find an answer. Can anyone help? I've tried power and home screen and still nothing...thanks!
How about the palm-swipe?
Lay the side of your hand on the left side of the screen and swipe it all the way to the right side of the screen.
It needs the motions enabled in the Motion control panel, and it's all the way at the bottom of the screen.
Or you could just use the screenshot command that is built into Android ICS and JellyBean.
Simultaneous press the Home button and the Power button to take a screen shot.

Press Home and Power simultaneously, and HOLD until it takes the screenshot (only takes a second or so). This feature is absolutely present in CleanROM. It has also active in every stock build of TouchWIZ that Samsung has put out for our device.

I tried it again and it worked. I must have not been hitting the Home and Power button simultaneously in my previous attempts. Thanks again.:good:

Yeah, like he said you just gotta hold it a sec or two. It's not as responsive as snapping a normal picture thru the camera for instance.
