Thank you xda and developers!!!!! - HTC Inspire 4G

I recently rooted my HTC Inspire 4g using thee Ace Hack Kit. It was as easy as 1, 2, 3. Before the root, I was hesitant. I did plenty of research on the whole rooting game. Before registering, I visited and read many and many threads on rooting, Roms, radios and etc. I am now running CM7 which is amazing. The difference from the phone stocked to now, is unbelievable. My upload and download speeds are ridiculous. I am truly grateful for, and thank, all the hard work that was put into this rom and the ace hack kit as well. XDA, your the sh*t!!!! I've yet to make donations, however, I will be donating very soon. Thanks again XDA.

Samsung Transform - Please Create Section

I have gotten a chance to play with the Samsung Transform.
Let me tell you it’s like a mini HTC EVO.
Once we get all the bloat ware off of it it’s going to be a great phone.
Great alternative if you don’t want an evo with the premium data plan.
I have a rooted EVO and i love it but i rarely use 4G.
I just got one today as well. Can we PLEASE get a Transform section?
I was really excited to get one of these (no $10/mo 4G charge) but I went to the Sprint store and used the demo. Choppy, choppy, choppy. It confused me so I looked into it and it turns out that - according to Sprint via Endgadget - the CPU lacks OpenGL acceleration. If this is true, it's either a grave oversight or an evil manipulation by Sprint/Samsung.
I look forward to seeing what can be done with this phone - it deserves its own section for sure - but first impressions are that this phone needs a lot of help.

The one I tried at the Sprint store was incredibly choppy as well. The Sanyo phone that just came out with Froyo ran a lot better in store. When I got my Samsung Moment I didn't use Sprint ID and it ran loads better than the one in the store. I also changed to Launcher Pro and now it's zippy.
bump cmon we need a section...
Yes please, so we can have developers talk about root!
This is a great device and a very nice upgrade from the hero. I forgot how much I missed having a physical keyboard. I also put on launcher pro and it seems very responsive. However, it could use some tweaks - for sure...
bump................
I will bump as well:
I have always relied on xda for my phone altering needs and I love this site... I just got a Transform which is missing 2 things in my opinion, android 2.2 (coming this year maybe?) and it's own section on xdadevelopers.
If any mods are reading this I am including my vote for a new section to be added for this phone.
Thank you!
Go to sdx-developers I'm sure they can help...not many transform owners or devs here since most people with sprint have an evo, epic, or hero
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
I think we need a section for the transform also....
http://forum.sdx-developers.com/index.php#c24
Those guys have a Transform section. As a matter of fact most of what they do is Samsung phones.
Wait, wait, wait! Are the XDA-Developers going to let another site steal the limelight??? Noooooo! Come on, do it for ME! LOL I have used this site for over a year now with several different devices and can honestly say there is no better site or community. I also know that some of the devs are on more than one site, which is totally fine. Create the section so some of the sdx devs can post their work here as well.
I have an Evo and even that phone wasn't perfect to begin with. It was XDA-Developers who made it the glorious and sexy thing my Evo is today. The Transform suffers from bad development, and all it needs to be a great phone is the same thing - XDA-Developers! Let's get this device up to speed!
I'm getting my wife a Transform on Black Friday (free that day only at Radio Shack) and really want to be able to use xda for both our phones.
Come one, I'm begging you! Seriously! I'm on my knees typing this, tears streaming down my cheeks! The ones on my face, um, not the other ones. But I'll do that too if it'll get us a Transform section!
+1 we need a transform section. I have a G2, but my dad just got a Transform. I don't know if it's cause I'm used to the G2 monster but good hell this phone is SLOW and preloaded with so much garbage. Seems to me that theres not much in the department of rom's for Samsungs in general, I can't find any that I like on a Vibrant either.
Does anyone know of a working flashlight app for the transform?? When does it get the OTA? I read that it will get 2.2 last quarter of 2010 but that didn't happen. My dad is getting extremely mad at his phone, and it's issues that FroYo Fixed on my phone.
Yes We Do Need A Transform Section....
I Couldn't agree more that we need a transform section... I don't own one myself but I put my GF's Sister on my plan and got her a Transform. Now I know SDX already has a Transform section BUT There are quite a few people out there who don't know about SDX and I really thought XDA was trying to be all inclusive... Hell we got a Evo_Shift section like the day after the phone dropped so IDK if we are going to get a Transform section here, Also I know there are Issues that people who are willing to dedicate their time 2 keeping up with the forum (IE moderators) and honestly it seems like when the Mods start slacking the forum goes 2 crap, look 2 the Epic Forms and you'll see what I mean, But yeah I was really let down when I brought the Transform 2 my house and was getting ready to root it, ROM it up and Possibly get sum themes going, See where they were at with speeding it up and doing it big, yet I spent 5 min on XDA before I realized that I would be creating a SDX account, To this day I don't understand why the Transform is so overlooked, Maybe its because the Moment and Intercept were such fails... yet they both have sections here, Who Knows. I just thought I would throw in my .02 on this as I really don't get why the transform hasn't seen much love even tho it has loads of potential I guess In the mean time it will continue 2 be overlooked...
Please read the latest announcement. by our administrator, it addresses the part about getting a new section added.

[Thanks]Are we (Cappy users) spoiled?

This is more of a way to say thanks to all the Dev's and users who populate this forum. If you really compare to the various sub-sections (phones) you really just are underwhelmed by a lack of ROM's. And the Captivate development section is full of great quality ROM's. You almost have an overload of ROM's to flash, so many good ones. And also the great i9000 dev's. They did a ton of work to help get us some great ROM's
Here is just a thanks. Keep up the good work
Say thanks to your dev's in the thread below
i agree. definately not good for anyone with a flashing addiction . lol i'm downloading two new roms as i type. thanks dev team for finishing what att/samsung didnt.
agreed
awesome work, Devs
Part of the thanks goes to Samsung for making it easy
That's also why I'll never buy HTC or Motorola as long as they're in the habit of locking bootloaders.
I was considering one of the newer devices but the development sections are non existent. Yes were are spoiled, I agree, thanks to our devs.

Necessity breeds invention.
I feel sorry for the people who use stock phones and think that's as good as it gets. Those poor, clueless people.
Thank you, XDA.
Try going to the forums of most other AT&T Android phones, such as the Motorola Bravo, and you'll be shocked that almost 6 months after release, they don't have a single custom ROM, and rooting is still a pain for them!
As for us, we have a ton of amazing devs cranking out awesome ROMs, lagfixes, kernels, themes, etc., so I could never imagine going back to stock again
Mucho Gracias Devs
+100000 to what has been said already. I've learned and gained so much from this forum. I have a real love affair with my cappy! I'm up for an upgrade as we speak, but I can' t imagine a better phone. This is thanks to XDA and the awesomely talented hard working devs on this this forum. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
*Now if I can only get the stupendous battery life others have mentioned, I'd be in heaven*

Agree wholeheartedly!! I would never go back to stock, and I am supremely thankful to all of the devs and users out there that have provided custom roms, kernels, and all of the other goodies available. The biggest thing I am thankful for, though, is all of the information the users and devs provide. I have learned so much about my cappy, and android in general, from this forum. IMHO, the best way to show thanks is to keep up the spirit of sharing, and provide your own insight anywhere it may be useful. I am always happy to help anyone out, as long as it is a question I know something about. Again, a big thanks to all of the devs, and to all of the users!!

I can definitely say that the Captivate Development is one of the best on XDA.
My brother is looking for a new device to upgrade to, he keeps comparing everything to my Captivate. He still hasn't found anything that he would rather have over the Captivate, mostly because of the support available on XDA.

Love the captivate, but it wouldn't be anything withput the captivate android development section
I am so surprised every time I try to check on ROMs for other phones.
I am scared about leaving the captivate, I don't want to be stuck on stock. I was going to go to atrix next, that isn't looking good. Hopefully the SGS II is as easy to dev as the captivate, and hopefully its out soon.
We are so very spoiled. The hardest thing about flashing a ROM for a captivate is choosing which one.
Thanks to all the great devs that make this possible.

One thing that I think is crazy is that the necessity for a lagfix created something unexpected and amazing in the Voodoo Project (ext4 optimizations, sound, and color), mad props to Supercurio. Not trying to single any dev out, y'all are great and continue to produce amazing ROM's.
I'm glad my phone didn't work as promised right out of the box. I feel sorry for anyone that decided to move on to another phone for that reason. The developers in this section are awesome there are easily 15 solid roms and 10 different kernels to choose from. Sometimes navigating the choices can give a guy a head ache, but Thanks to all the hard working devs in the captivate XDA it's almost impossible to make a bad choice. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I agree with everyone. I bought my SGH-I897 because a friend bought one for his wife and she loved it (even with stock ROM) and got it free on Black Friday. I came from iPhone original to this and was only marginally satisfied... until the custom ROM I installed a few days ago. Wow, what a difference. The hardware that promised so much is now free to work as it should. Better battery life, smoother performance, more options, more access.
Like others, I feel sorry for those who at one time held this device in their hands then gave it up because of terrible software.
Thanks to all those who take the time to develop, update, write guides, share findings, take risks... for the benefit of fellow Captivate owners. Thanks.
100% agreed.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all developers here in XDA. I officially salute to all of them. They help us without asking payback. I definitely think donation is my way to show how I appreciate their work, time and their unselfishness of sharing.
And also want to thank all memebers here on XDA. They are extremely helpful as well.
Being winmo rom flasher/users for 5 years. As android is totally new to me. After been reading lots of lots of topics, I just recently had guts to flash a custom android rom. And all I can say is wow. Didn't expected a big different like that.
Again, thanks all ppl here in XDA. I know I'm spoiled, and protected too, as long as I am a member of XDA community.

Rooting 2.2

How is it going everyone.. I was curious if anyone could tell me if bubby’s one click root would still work for my phone if I haven’t updated my phone to gingerbread yet? And hypothetically speaking, what I mean is that if I decline the gingerbread up date, or I just haven’t got the update yet... when I’m down grading my rom while using bubby’s program is there any chance that when it ask to install the update that the gingerbread update could mess with it or be installed instead? And sorry if this is a dumb question but I’ve looked in other places and didn’t find my answer so I just wanted to be sure.. So thank you for any help in advanced.
and i read on the thread that its been discontinued, but it should still work if my phone is still froyo right?
It probably would still work, but you really should use ATTN1's hack kit. It's being actively developed and has real-time support via the #liberatedAria IRC chat channel.

I used bubby's method and it worked well for me. Got it first try no problems. If that's what you feel comfortable using then go for it. But I gotta say I rooted one of my friends inspire with att1 hack kit and it was easy as well. As long ad you can follow instructions you'll be alright.

I used bubby's on my phone back when it was running froyo. Had no problems at all. Alot of my friends have also used the hack kit. Either way as long as you can read instructions, and really read them before doing it, you should be fine. If you piss your pants because your nervous while doing it...its ok I almost did. Hahaha. Good luck!
Also please please read each methods thread all the way through to see any problems anyone else may have had so you know how to handle them if they come up.

haha ok thanks yall and yea i read the hack kits thread all the way through and in fact printed the entire thing out and red it on my free time.. lol and im working on bubbys right now to see if i can run across any problems that i may encounter along the way.. so thank yall and have a good one

Good Job Sensation Devs

Wow Im trying to find a stable rom for my buddies mt4gs and their roms are all terrible maybe because its a laggards phone having that stupid keyboard and all. I love my Sensation and our developers kick ass !!!!!!
There's not much development for that phone at all.
Thankfully the Sensation is a worldwide device and we have dev's from all over the world making roms for us.
Yes the development on the sensation is great when you go to the development already you can find update every single day down there are you use or droid actually now it's called coin droid and it's updated all the time I love since 4 it's much better than all the other senses once people get a little bit more tweaks going for it it'll be perfect so I also thank the devs good job.

Watch your language and attitude when posting on XDA.
Or suffer the consequences...
Having previously been on the MT4GS before this, I can tell you that the phone doesn't suck whatsoever. In fact, with the physical keyboard I actually prefer it to the Sensation. I do like the big screen I must admit, but the MT4GS can do everything this phone can do (and the camera pummels this one). Yes, there's a lack of support for the phone despite having the same hardware as the Sensation, but don't knock their devs. For being so few, they've accomplished quite a bit.
If you want a ROM without sense, try Virtuous Inquisition. That one's as stable as almost anything here, with some nice OC/UV features that enhance battery life. If you want Sense, Virtuous PrimaDonna or Pyr'O'Ice Sensed (I believe they're now the same thing) work just fine for DD's. There are a few bugs, but that's to be expected with almost every ROM that does not have official support. As for GB ROMS, anything on there works pretty well, but people seem to be very fond of Bulletproof.
It is awesome to have all these ROMs to choose from now, but there are still some very good good (albeit few in number) ones for the Doubleshot.
Hurrah for vorbeth

XDA Sensation Developers Rock!!
I have to say that as a pretty new user here, the level of support from both Developers and also senior members is really fantastic. It really blows away other forums I have been part of previously.
I would also agree with the above. Coming from a Blackberry to my Sensation and Android was a big change for me. All of my answers were to be found for getting the device rooted and running a custom rom in no time.

check out the HTC HD2(Leo) section of XDA... i think that is the most dev friendly phone of all time
I'm newly registred to this forum but been looking around XDA since a few months back and never registred (really can't say why) and I must say that the atmosphere is great here on XDA, there is alot of support from devs as well as members of the site and I love it and the devs seems to know their thing. See you around the forums!
EDIT: I must agree with shee-b. All my questions already had answers and I as well got S-OFF and a custom rom running from a completly locked Hboot in no-time thanks to all the great guides and of course with a bit of help from the search function
Bad time to have a sensation, Has anyone else noticed the only consistant roms from developers now are ordroid and vorbeths ones? Haven't seen Baaad for a while and his rom says finished,Leedroid hasn't had an update since the One X. Not to seem rude but they seem to have taken the donations for a new device and buggered off :'(

Im not going to rate the thread, its good, but definitely not SUPER EASY, thats fixable however, as its just how the guide is setup which detracts from being SUPER EASY...
Numbers/Letters for steps, more spacing, less run-ons in sentence structure...
XDA is a site thats supposed to be for developers but id hazard a guess and say 95%+ are USERS and probably 95% of that 95% are only here from hap-hazard links from other sites and/or google search's and will get lost in your guide...
Dont misunderstand me, after being here on XDA it was EASY for ME to understand, but probably not for the majority of people.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, thanks for a great guide, its nice to see a refresh for the "how-to" guides every once in a while (yearly?)

This guide was late to the game.
There's a older version of cwm that works that's been posted several times, even recently.
Or just use "flash_image."
I read the wiki and I'm fine.

I don't quite follow... he wrote this guide two months ago. It's OK, but I'd take a more remedial approach. I may submit my own, one that I crafted to help me through the process last year. There's definitely older ways to do things and newer ones as well, the newest being more straightforward.
As for the Hero, the later ROM published by Sprint blocks you from replacing the bootloader. You have to manually flash an earlier version of the Sprint ROM (2.27.651.5). Some enterprising folks have simplified it by creating an EXE that does it all, found HERE.

I've had my hero for ages ever since it was released I didn't know htc locked the bootloader. I'm getting tired of them doing that but this is the guide I used when I rooted my hero and I don't know why cwm is only available to 2.2+ ill have to post the apk. Sorry I haven't been around. As you see I have 3 other devices to maintain which is my signature.. The hero just so happens to be my slowest which isn't good. I love the hero don't get me wrong it has the best feeling on the outside. I mainly port ics/jb which hero doesn't play nice with. I have to release some roms over here soon
