I don't have a manual to read.
A few times i've looked at my screen and seen a little bar that said recent apps or something like that and showed like 4 apps. Not sure how it got there but there then gone again. Must be a button combo to push or something to get it to pop up. any idea?
Long pressing the home key. On cm/miui it shows recent and I believe it does on sense as well

Sorry, can't help you there. There are some apps on the Market that take screen shots but I can't recommend any since I never have problems with the built in one.

Try shootme. Its not in the market any more, but i've found the apk before here on xda.

I don't think the previous responders get your question. Some roms do support custom boot animations, there are a few threads on the site that explain how to do this. Feel free to look some up.
I think he wants a button in the shut down menu that will take a screenshot of whatever is under the menu. Haha not sure ...

Similar to what is available in CM7? Don't know how that is integrated, but it would require a decent amount of smali work to get it accomplished.
Obviously the title doesn't say it all. Haha

i know its late bute Drocap2 (probably have to get the apk from a search as it was pulled from the market) will let you have a notification bar trigger, map screenshotting to the search button, and has a shake trigger if that helps

Honestly, it's a timing issue... I used to have a hard time getting shots by holding Back and then hitting Home, but I've gotten MUCH better at it. It's all in the timing of how you do it, the best way i can explain it is to press back and kind of say "one one-thousand" to yourself then tap Home without moving your finger off of Back. You'll here the camera shutter sound and it'll be saved to your SD card in a folder for screen shots.
This is the only way I take my shots and it works fine, provided you've got the timing down (also, I've only used Froyo ROMs).

There are still some things you'll never get a screenshot with. Why not just use one of the screen capture apps like DroCap or Shootme? There are likely hundreds more that do the same thing as well.

I am using Clean Rom 4.0 and I have search that forum many time looking for an answer.
Since the One X did away with the menu button, how do you access the menu in that that Rom.
For example, I have no way of closing my audible app now because is doesnt have a soft menu key in that app.
I used the muiu rom and it had the menu key to the right of the multitasking key. But alas, this rom does not do that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and happy 4th!
the multitask button becomes menu and holding down home gets you the multitask function The way GOD intended

Also, in case you don't know, long pressing the Home button acts as the Multitasking button.

So, I think the S3 is great - but I have little things to pick at. Most of all, I can't understand what takes so long between pressing the (hard) home button, for example, and returning to the home screen. I mean, it's silly-long.
I've rooted all my other android phones with great satisfaction. I'm wondering if I root and install a custom ROM - will I be able to fix this. I'm thinking of installing one of the stock builds, but just wondering if they are faster.
Go into s voice and uncheck double tap home to launch s voice... Home button is then MUCH faster

I had the same experience with PIE. I never use it because I can't see my notifications when I turn my screen on quickly and turn it off, but Halo might solve that problem. However, I do have issues with PIE because it gives me issues with things at the very bottom of my screen like the space key. Sometimes I hit the key and it activates PIE instead of space (or whatever else I have down there are the moment).

Yes, but it creates the same issue for me. If I want to swipe the screen from right to left in an app it pulls out pie.
It's a minor issue and one I would surely get used to if I used it more, but it has still kept me from using it.
been impatiently waiting for this feature. hopefully it gets ported over to our build with the quickness. it looks great.

I know... thats why I wont use pie. Its a great feature, but it interferes with swipes. I just didn't know if you knew that you could change the trigger location.

Yeah, I too find pie more annoying than anything.
Maybe I'm just doing it wrong but I don't really see the need for pie. Maybe halo will change my mind

Me either, it makes a lot of sense on phones with on-screen softkeys, like the Nexus, but on a phone with dedicated hardware buttons like the GS3, it's totally unnecessary.

unless youre like me and dont use hardware buttons.
Ive always used pie or the navigation bar.
I hate using the buttons.
Pie is useful for shortcuts to activities or apps you use often.
Example: I may want to look at the weather or messaging app, or maybe even battery stats. But I'm in the middle of a different app. No need to close it and find the app on my home screen. I can just use pie.

I like the idea of HALO, but I haven't found a ROM yet where the blacklist function works as advertised. I'd like to have HALO not show me Tasker or Clipper (my clipboard manger), and blacklisting and whitelisting never work.
On the PIE tangent, it's nice to be able to do things like sticking in a shortcut to a Tasker task to the app drawer, so you can get to your app drawer without having to go to the home screen first. Having 2 rows available as in some ROMs gives lots of quick options.
waitting for the apk
I love the lmt launcher I hope they make halo a apk file so I can install it like lmt on my moar ROM
Could someone explain the pie feature to me? I don't get the point when we have physical buttons. It makes sense on a nexus 4 since it only has on screen buttons.

just personal preference. I just dont like using the buttons. once you get teh gestures down its quick and responsive. it also adds some real estate to the screen over the nav bar. that with halo allows for full screen use which i like.
you can turn it off in every rom ive ever used.
The button to the left of the physical button on the phone. (I'm not 100% it is called the menu button, but that is what I am going to refer it as.)
I just upgraded from the GS3 and am a bit frustrated. The button now goes to the task manager. I have to press and hold to get the menu appear. I hate this! Does anyone know of a way to get it back to normal? :crying:
It is now the recent apps button.

To be honest, I prefer the new layout on the s5. It was a pain having to hold the home button to get to recent app before

I was super happy when I saw the option to long-press recent apps for the menu key. Hopefully later on we get to remap the key to menu in ROMs like CM but if not I'm fine with it. I do wish it were still the menu key by default, though.
