Powerskins - HTC Sensation

Has anyone tried out the powerskin for the sensation?
http://www.shop.power-skin.com/powerskin/htc/sensation

i have one. its nice but it gets really hot while using your phone. the heat doesn't disperse through the powerskin well. which seems to drain both batteries a bit. for instance the powerskin is almost empty if i use the phone after 30 min. even though it is much larger than my battery. somethings wrong. but having extra powers is nice and it doesnt touch the screen or mess up the screen protector.

Mod please move to proper section.

There is something wrong with yours. Mine last almost ten hours. I started a thread about it here a couple weeks ago.

Is there any good case ? i get lost here

How's the size, thickness?

It's about 3/4 of an inch. If you have small pockets the size and silicon case might present problems pulling the phone out, but I have loose clothing so its not a problem. You do have the option to take the case off and use it only to recharge a dead/dying OEM batt.

Literally got mine yesterday morning from the USA.
It's about as big as I expected, and thats pretty big. I already have an Anker battery, but in all fairness I haven't seen much of a difference in battery life with it over the stock HTC battery; that could be because 1) I didn't really test out the stock HTC battery. 2) I never calibrated it properly.
Anyhow, I am addicted to my phone, so I use it a lot and my emails are set to PUSH from the server. I have wifi on a lot e.t.c.. So when I use it a lot I expect it to last somewhere in the region of 5-7 hours.
Now back to the point, with this POwerskin, I no longer fear using my phone out and about, especially when I need to get in contact with the girlfriend! It lasts far longer, so I am pleased with it. I haven't really tested it fully yet, because I do not know whether to have my Powerskin charging my phone in the background, so it sort of trickle charges the normal battery. OR, turn it on when my phone gets really low :/
Good nonetheless!

Hey inspire owners, what do you think about the battery life?

I have read that battery life is horrible...what do you all think?
For the 24 hours plus I have had it, it is actually better than my Captivate was on any 2.2 ROM after proper recalibration, and at least on par with bone stock 2.1.1. I think HTC got it right with this one.
mine sucks so far. but im sure it needs to be "broken in" (here comes the debate about batteries not needing to be broken in)
Mine is decent, but then I plug it in the car charger as soon as i start driving so...
Mine is pretty decent as well... better than my Captivate was stock. The Inspire has a smaller battery as well (1230mAh I believe). So smaller battery with bettery battery life means HTC did something right to me
It's good so far. However, I got a 1600 mah from eBay and so far It's been great. I've been using it for 6 hours with constant use, full brightness and I still have more than half of battery left.

My battery life has been pretty decent. Havent had a full day yet to test it out.
That batt still fit in the phone without any mods? And are they smoking crack? 105 for the batt? I'll stay with my current one
Uhm? I paid $4.58. That's strange.
It isn't great right now but in the coming weeks the battery life will get better.

would u say better or worse then the Droidx, or an iphone4?
I have never used an iPhone 4 or Evo long enough to give you battery life. As for the Evo, probably close to the same actually. You see, the main reason that the Evo got the 1500 may battery is because of WiMax 4G. Plus the Inspire has more efficient technology, including the second generation snapdragon processor and the more efficient version of Sense, version 2.0

I think the battery life is great. MUCH better than what the bad reviews said it was.
With smart use (concious of wifi toggle, brightness toggle, gps toggle, account syncs...) the phone will easily last over a day. I use my phone a lot too, and I can't kill it in the day. It requires a little more attention than the iPhone 4, but the trade offs are worth it.
Full charge this morning. maybe 1 hour of web/email. 15 minutes of calls and stand by the rest of the time and I am at 2/3 at 4pm.
Not good not bad. Clearly for really busy times it will need a charge or a second battery (which I am planning to get).

I am guessing wrong price or a shill - are we sure the Desire HD battery will fit and function properly. If so why didnt HTC just use the 1500mA or 1600mA to start with?
It was actually $4.89. That's what I paid including shipping. I guess the seller got greedy. I copied that link from the confirmation email from eBay.

i'm assuming they aren't.
I don't recommend buying any batteries online that claim to be replacements for the Inspire, but are much larger in mAh. They are likely fake, unsafe, or the same battery you have currently with a different mAh size that is untrue.

Q - Heat during charging

got my brand new shiny sensation this morning - put it on charge and it got extreemly hot ,.... ive ended up sending it back to amazon and gone down to my local 3 store and purchased one from there ....... (Not had much luck this week as i have had 2 x galaxy s2 which were horrendous poor speaker and screen rubbish so i ended up sacking that idea off and went for the sensation and the one arrived and this appeared faulty) question is was i just unlucky or is there a heat problem ... it was that bad i couldnt get the sim out and the phone switched off ... ive not put my new one on charge yet as i want to be in when i do just in case
any idea;s ...
great phone btw ... not as quick but at least i can put stuff on memory card direct without it corrupting and i dont need software to update the firmware like you do on samsung ....
Mine doesn't get hot, maybe slightly warm would be the term.
My phone got so hot on the 3rd or 4th charge that I burnt my hand on it, it was charging overnight but battery was still empty in the morning so I returned it and the new one seems ok so far
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
ive never really had a heat problem , it gets warm if ive been using it heavily and then put in pocket ,but most of time it goes away in a few minutes
depends on the day. If its a hot day out, charging gets to like 104 degrees, on a cool day, it will stay in the upper 90S. Like 97 degrees.
Mines been a lil warm lately, so I hard reset it and it seems much better. Must have been a app it didnt like.
my was mega hot ... i couldnt even take out my sim ... i got one from 3 and have it on charge its cold ... which is good
it was a little hot when i had the screen on , obviously there was a fault with the one from amazon
cheers all
My case got pretty hot the first day that I had it, but I was using it heavily and charging it at the same time. Since then it only seems to warm up when i'm playing games. It's almost as if some of the components needed to "burn in" or something like that. It makes sense in my twisted head but it doesn't.
My new phoneI I got yesterday don't get hot at all. I was gaming and and charging yesterday the highest it went was 37.7c .. my previous sensation while never overheated. Stayed between 38' and 45'.

Any of you claiming it doesn't *FEEL* hot, put it on the charger and browse the web for a few minutes then go to phone and put in *#*#4636#*#* and click battery... mine hit 43C... Idle its still 28C which is about 7 higher than my G2x and my G2x while playing Pinball HD on the charger only hits 36C... HUGE difference and a LiIon battery hitting that high - it can explode at 55-60. Pretty much means overclocking is out of the question.

just got my new sensation and discovered that charging/overheating problem.
for me the problem seems to be the charger itself. phone doesn't charges from it and gets crazy hot INSTANTLY. and when i'm unplugging charger inpanic, phone gets restarted.
Nevertheless, it changes fine from USB or my old Desire charger using the same cable from sensation package.
so, original charger seems to be broken.
(don't actually want to try in on my old, but still much more alive Desire)

reduce heat?

OK hey guys. As you know the HTC sensation overheats to unbelievable amounts, even through little use and that is the turning point for me, I am beginning to hate the phone because if it and I want to hear your opinions. I want to reduce the heat that at least I feel, I bought a case for the sensation but that just outlines the death grip issue and I bought an anker 1900mah battery but that didn't reduce heat and I couldn't tell the difference in battery life. Do you guys think that to reduce the amount of heat that I feel (because we can't change the amount that it produces) I should buy a different case and if so which one? Also should I use q stylus as well, and one again,, which one?
Thanks.
I have used the anker for a good while and I can see the difference overnight. Are you on a custom ROM at all? How many syncs do you have running in the background? Do you watch a lot of movies, listen to a lot of music, surf the web a lot, or use GPS a bunch?
All these have contributing factors in 1. Creating heat and 2. Sucking up juice.
I have an Aprolink hybrid case. It's hard rubber (prone to scratches) and outlined in TPU. I love it because it shows off the clear back of my white cover and blends the black well with the front.
I have not suffered from the heat issue since I started flashing ICS roms. Not sure its related or not though.
Well I 0 synxs running in the background and all I really do is surf the web for about 10-20 minutes at a time and occasionly download a small file and I have my phone on minimum brightness and also I am running virtuous Inquisition.
10 syncs??
Sent from my HTC Pyramid using XDA App
Hahaha sorry typo, 0 syncs. The first few months I used to play HD games while on charge and the battery got to 60 degrees celcius. Another example was during when I was using it for navigation for about 20 minutes and I couldn't physically hold it, it was so hot. I rang HTC and they said I must have a faulty phone so they sent me a replacement but it overheats on simple tasks again. Do HTC devices literally have no cooling system?
Avoid doing heavy stuff while charging. Also on navigation, it is better if the phone is not exposed to direct sunlight. Also for some reason I have noticed higher temps on gb than on ics

hey let them completely discharge 3 times ( after it dies , wait about 5 minutes and power on the phone again let it power off)
don't let the battery charging over night . about a 3 hr and 30 mins to 4 hr will do.
i have a 1500 mA battery . it last me about a 1 with heavy use .( temple run , music , pandora , gps , text , photos , and reading )
Never try to let you batteries run completely dead. This will shorten the life of Li-Ion batteries. And feel free to let your batteries charge over night. When the battery gets charged fully the charging will stop or slow as needed. They will not overcharge. The charging systems of phones have their own regulation. Not sure where previous poster got his info. Guess his phone still uses NiCads.
Yet to see an extended battery for The Inspire with the custom cover. There is a battery pack that attaches to the back of the phone but I can't remember the make. There was big talk when they were released but I hear little about them now.

that i read , is not good to let the battery over charge , that has happened to me, i have let it over charge overnight , after that the battery life gets reduce, i have an app call current monitor , after the battery reach 4.209 V . if i let sit there charging, the voltage starts to go down . ( maybe is the app)
with a 3 hour charge , i get about a day use out of the cell phone . letting the battery died the first three time you put it in the phone , i was told by th rep of the company that sold me the item , like i said before i get pretty good battery life , even with heavy use , now that temple run is in android . even more fun ..
Not that its a huge improvement over 1850 but the best I've seen for the inspire are 2000mAh, I just kept searching on ebay in 100 mAh increments until I got no results.

Sadly there are no "real" extended batteries for the inspire, they all have exaggerated
ratings, and the Powerskin is an external battery/case and I like my otterbox to much

Be extra careful were you buy your extended life batteries from.. i ordered two and got what i paid for... they were 1850mAh which did last about 4 hours longer then the original but which one my camera didnt work... Said something to the tune of "Cannot use flash in cold weather conditions"... When i saw this for the first time i was like WTF its 80 degrees outside... then i changed batteries again and it worked... obviously something wrong in the battery.
It i probably worth spending a little more money on the battery to get better quality product.

According to the DHD community the Mugen is the only trustworthy one, and that's at around 1650mah. The ones you see online are rarely what they claim to be.
1800 Andida good
Basically Mugen and Anker are the only good extended batteries it seems, and even then they don't seem to help much. D: I still wanna pick up an extra battery just in case for long trips, etc.

One X+ battery in One XL

Does anyone know if we can do what the tegra one x users are doing and replace our batteries with the 2100mah one x+ battery? Looks like it should work from what I have been able to dig up, but not 100% sure. 2100mah One x+ batteries are going for around $35 on eBay.
Sent from the HOXL dimension of S-OFF
What exactly have you dug up? More than likely the increase of the battery size is a physical change.
From my research, the batteries are the same size across the X, the XL and the X+ except the X+ has a different chemistry (you can tell since it's 3.8V instead of 3.7V) so it holds 2100mah instead of 1800mah.
The XL doesn't seem to overheat as badly as the X does so we already get better battery life than the X. It seems the X+ battery heats even less so not only do you get more battery because it has more mah, it also lasts a bit longer because there's less heat.
I made a thread about this a month or so ago. One s people report no problems with it. Try it for us!

Nice! Report back on the battery life improvements when you get it back. If you have time, run Nova Battery Tester (long mode) after using it for a week to break in the battery.
I want to get the battery myself since I know it'll fit but I'm unsure on how much extra battery life we'll get on the HOXL since we already had less warm and better battery life than the HOX. There's also a small chance the HONE will have the same battery size again (with larger capacity) so I'm hoping for that too =D

I just got my battery today, and installed it... and it was a success!... kind of.. our internals are slightly different from the international One X, but the basic of the design is the same. You just pop the screen off, take off some screws, pull off the battery. Some of the key differences from the international one x is the plastic cover over the motherboard near the camera. it hides the screen cable and the volume key cable is also hidden next to the battery. I recommend pulling off the volume keys out when trying to take off the battery cable. they are glued onto the side and can be easily peeled.
I had my fair share of scares and had to open my phone quite a few times.... and as a result, the housing got bent and i ended up breaking the micro usb part of the housing. Not a big deal since I have my TPU case on at all times... I also managed to break the pressure pins for the wifi antenna... ended up using some solder and fixing that up... luckily i'm getting great wifi reception now.... be careful when prying the screen off near the left side... if u stick something in there, don't push in your prying tool too deep.... there are about 4-6 pressure pins on that side. but after all that, I got the one X+ battery in my AT&T One XL!!!!
I gotta run it for few days to see if it's stable enough... I really hope it's okay lol... but if it breaks I'm also due for an upgrade plus have a nexus 4 as a back up so no biggie

Do you have battery life stats yet?
Not the greatest battery life I've seen. My set up is cm10.1. Mostly stock. Stock cpu/kernel. I charged my phone and calibrated my battery. Wiped battery stats. Calibrated again for good measure. I have wifi on at all times. Auto brightness that's adjusted to low brightness. Tasker running at all times only controls volume (according to time) and 2g only when connected to wifi. I also use greenify to hibernate maps. I'm mostly on wifi all day. So far no problem.. Thinking of doing a clean wipe and restore.
I'm sure sense roms will do much better. I will run nova battery tester when I charge my phone tonight. Most likely my battery will last til the end of the day. (over 24hours with 3+ hour screen on which is probably 1hour more screen on time than before)
it's only day 1 with the new battery so i'm hoping after a week i'll get the full benefit of the battery... I may need to try a sense rom.

Instead of Viper, try CleanROM or RebelROM. The first is a lighter Sense ROM, and the latter is a mostly desensed one with AOSP touches.
Viper is too bloated to get great battery life, but has tons of tweaks.
