[Q] supertube for android? - HTC Sensation

I came from Windows phone mango. And they had a great app that allowed HD video not HQ. Is there a similar app on the android market?

are you talking about shooting video or watching hd? cause the sensation does both stock no need for an app

Watching YouTube videos in HD.

I think HQ is the same as HD

Go into the YouTube app
Click on menu button
Select settings
Then first option should be watch HQ videos on mobile or something similar, this will display the highest available quality

bummer, i somehow read supertube as studierstube, which is something completely different (and more like an api then an app)

Keepvid works wonders for watching YouTube in actual 720p or 1080p if available (however you'd never notice any difference between the two on the screen, you'd just notice a bigger WiFi/net usage). It's no longer on the market probably cause it let's you download the videos aswell as stream, so the good old phrase 'google is your friend' comes to mind. App name is "keepvid"

Forcing youtube app to play 720p

It looks like the HQ mode in youtube app is actually 480p.
Anybody knows of a way to coerce youtube app to play 720p in HQ mode?
Before trolls start yelling that 720p on 800x480 will not look different than 480p, let me tell you - IT DOES, BIG TIME. Huge difference. Easiest way to watch youtube in 720p right now is to use "jetvd" app, but it's not as well designed as youtube. Hence the question.

''Sorry...currently no option to play HD by default and there never has been. The "playback settings" in your account settings currently only pertain to either 360p or 480p videos.''
There is a whole thread about it here.
Yep, but that thread didn't go anywhere.
I'm just wondering since jetvd is able to pull videos in 720p, perhaps there's a way to hack youtube app to pull in that quality as well.
Although jetvd uses the stock video player app to play them.. maybe youtube app doesn't have capability for anything above 480p..
ohh nice. i never used that app. just played some youtube videos over the mhl adapter.. very nice! i dont see anything wrong with the jetvd myself.
Why can't I see the jetvd pro version? They took it out off the market? ?

Go to www.jetvd.com on your phone. Click the Download button at the bottom of the screen. Then click the red Download button at the bottom of that screen to download JetVD Plus! The dev is giving it away free now, apparently.
Yes is a huge diference between youtube quality and jetdv 720p
Thanks im download from your link

Thanks I like the app really, may be I'm not gonna use YouTube app now, it is really HD on jetvd,
Nice find

jetVD is awesome, but it's not perfect.
In youtube app you can see your subscriptions, your channel, the design is nicer.. you can watch video and see comments at the same time, plus post them.
JetVD is only for watching in HD really. And search isn't as nice - there are no "related" videos, etc.
In a perfect world, there would be a hack for youtube app to play 720p. That'd be an end-all solution.
works good for now thanks for the tip!!!

well you can use the stock web browser and type about:useragent into the adress bar setting the user agent to desktop and then access the full site. and i just downloaded jet vd and it has related videos. i dont care much for that other stuff though.

[Q] best movie and resolution to showcase screen?

hey guys. when I got my Evo I asked this same question. I was recommended Transformers 2 and Avatar...and I was given specific bitrate and resolution to put into Handbrake and I ended up with amazing looking videos that the Evo could play without any hiccups.
I moved my same Avatar movie over to the Xoom now and it doesn't look quite as good (obviously).
what resolution and bitrate (or handbrake specific settings) do you recommend, and what movie do you recommend, to really blow me away when watching it on the Xoom?
thanks
download moboplayer from the market and see if that helps.... its free
Well, the xoom settings I use are actually very similar to the ipad. So use that as a base and then just tweak it a little.
just do a simple search on "Video" and you will find any treads with tips and info about Tegra2 and movies. This has been talked about plenty.
I use Dvdcatalyst to convert my videos, or VidsOpt v0.2.1 - Fast MP4 Muxer/Converter

1280*720 is what will look and fits best because your screen is 1280*800. Just download some 720p mp4 videos.
Here you have some samples that you can use to show off

YouTube HD app?

Anyone know if there's a way to view HD quality YouTube videos on the Kindle from within the app? I tried a few HD YouTube.apk apps I saw for various phones but they all force closed right away. The standard app is noticeably lower quality than what the Nook Tablet or Galaxy Tab 7.0+ displays. Basically HQ vs HD.
Seems like setting Dolphin HD to 'iPad' mode and then browsing directly to youtube.com might get HD quality, but it's not as nice to navigate, and forces you to use 'iPad' mode all the time which is not ideal if you use Dolphin for other browsing. Better than nothing though.
I've just used the Dolphin method. There doesn't seem to be another way short of running Honeycomb.
I didn't know you could do this, thanx

Here is good alternative video player. Original posted:

downloaded and giving it a try.
Have some roms to test, but then i will reply, if this particular 3d player is as good or better, or worse than stock :cyclops:
i use mx video player. free in playstore.
Great touch/sliding features for brightness and volume plus works perfectly with non-DM locked 3D video files. :good:
3dvplayer is very good. Personally I use
MX Player on the market has also supported 3D videos for a while (no depth change option though)

I couldn't get a 3d player to work on CM7
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app
Of course you can't. That's because CM Roms don't support the 3D and HDMI features.

mx player plays 3d videos in cm. also you take 3d photos and video but you cant view 3d photos
Good
it works pretty good on my o3d:good:
How do you get MX Player to do 3D? Also has anyone else noticed that CM7 doesn't play. Video in full screen properly? Sometimes too small sometimes offset left or low, sort of stopping me from using it. CM7 does seem buggy to me.

yes i played 3d videos in CM7. I turned off auto rotation (system settings-display). after that select only 0 degrees and turned off animation (Settings-CM7 Settings-Display I dont remember it now") and Edit mx player settings to always use landspace mode while playing.
that is all. i can play 3d videos without bugs. ( If you dont turn off rotation video gets bug. video starts shaking)

That works for 3D but for all normal video (on my phone at least) the video is offset left and low. Not sure how to adjust this, anyone else have this problem? I attempted a screen shot but it just turns out black while playing video.

Last update of 3dvplayer 4.0.0 has some bug 'cause can't play as "system player" (hardware) on O3D
I've [ROM] DNA_GB 3.3.3 V21E base.
Can anybody confirm this?

Ver 4 No good here either... just keeps replaying that darned annoying intro over and over again if I try to play any video.

With older versions, still could not stream with their network feature (only have sound) but manages playback of the downloaded video file OK with both moving pictures & sound. Proprietary .3DV extension for these files ? Seems very low resolution for the files I happened to try. But its free...
What is the experience for the rest of you?
Sent from my LG-SU870 using xda app-developers app
After the ICS update, I tried again and the network feature of this player is now working! I'm running an older 3.x version.
Also I came across a video file they hosted that was of decent resolution! If it's about 400M for 60min of 3D vid then it should look fine. It varies from 1 vid to the next so keep digging... they're not all low rez blurry messes!
