[Q] Apparently I have an Iphone or maybe not

Anyone ever get your G2x confused with an Iphone?
I had a customer ask if my G2x was an Iphone. When I said no, it was an Android, he made the funny Droidddddd noise. Arghhhhhhh, identity crisis.

HAHA! Yeah I really hate Motorola for branding their line "droid" because it's caused so much confusion among the ill informed. It's way too confusing for the regular folk lol

You couldn't give me one of those pieces of crap. I like to customize, play with overclocking, and a bunch of other features the iphone won't let you do.

It's pretty understandable between a vibrant and iPhone 3g/s because they look so damn similar

don't blame the poor people, blame the TV news. If apple launches a piece of brick you can be sure there will be on every news channel and the radio.
Just wait and see when the first ifhone comes out with dual core, they are going to announce it like the most amazing thing ever. Even though there are dual core phones long time ago.
So basically for the general public the only smartphone that exist is the Ifone. That's why if they see it is a touch screen, then it must be an Ifhone

It is actually very good marketing and PR for Verizon to tag the "Droid" to Android. It reminds me of when Apple first released iPods and everyone was referring to all MP3 players as iPods....very smart on Apple's part.

That's pretty interesting, I had no idea! I always thought it was something Verizon came up with for their phones.
I cannot tell you how much it bothers me when people call my phone a Droid, the way I see it, if they're just gonna make incorrect assumptions then they deserve my 3 minute rant on the difference between android devices ^_^

The droid stuff doesn't irk me as much as my eagerness to correct them does. Droid is a cool nickname for a phone, why should I care?
It is far worse for someone to think your phone is an iphone, which has happened to me also. It's one of the reasons I was contemplating switching to the sensation.

It's not uncommon for Apple to target Samsung, Motorola...or Android for that matter. Whether or not Apple actually has a case is above me, but it's apparent both of these OS use or "borrow" features from the other...a self-made "improved" version of the former.

how so? iOS still accounts for a signifigant (even if it isn't majority) & of smartphones. Apple owns that entire portion of the pie where as the android portion is shared by a handful of companies. Plus they got a name. As long as they put out a half decent product, it will sell.

Your logic is flawed. He didn't say that they were doing poorly, he simply said they are going for anything and everything they can. Maybe they want to own more of the market, maybe they are afraid of android getting ahead... Just because iOS is doing well doesn't mean they aren't getting defensive lately.

Another one of the many reasons why I refuse to buy any apple products.

the OG iPhone spawned a growth spurt in transforming PDAs to our modern smartphone. We are currently in a spot where noone is doing anything innovative so I guess this is their way of passing time

Where would you even start??? it is so hard to find an android phone that looks like its predecessor that much you cant tell it apart. Plus with android users, the first question they'd probably ask is"what android version is it running?" And that would problably give it away.

I've been working break-fix for years, supporting end users from literally all walks, and one thing I've noticed about the majority of iPhone users is they are absolutely lemmings, across the board. The majority of my customers -- apple users and otherwise -- are buzzword addicts, and I had this conversation with my coworker a few days ago... you could say there's a new technology out in [insert platform here] that would be the coolest thing, and if you called it "doodooflinging" three weeks from now you'd have a hundred of their friends at the local [insert platform here] store asking for the latest poo, and it wouldn't matter that it didn't really exist because most people wouldn't know otherwise.

Dude, if you had the following that Apple does, that is all they need to release to get most of the people to upgrade. Their stock went thru the roof due to this phone coming out on Friday. Besides, only including a couple of features make it easy on them. I would be willing to bet my last dollar that there is an iPhone 6 already being tested with a few new features.
I wouldn't have one of their iPhones personally, but, I do own a MacBook Pro. It is a great machine but still overpriced IMHO.

Heck yeah, I am sure there is already an iPhone 6 with NFC and simultaneous voice and LTE on Sprint and Verizon. Apple does not need to do anything for the next year except collect money from the puppets and watch to see what other great things Android will come up with to put in the iPhone 6s.
Also, the reason no one can sue Apple and win is because then the jury and judges won't be able to buy their own iPhone 5 and why would they want to ruin their own lives like that.
I actually think Apple was really nice to their customers this time around. They could have sold millions of iPhones with only adding the new super thunder and lightning digital cable and the super mini sim card. Look at all the other features they threw in on top of that. You go on with your bad self Apple!
iPhone owners are some lucky SOB's! They can even see 5 days in their calendar app now. If that was me I would have saved that feature for the iPhone 6. Apple is way to nice.

It's not sad, It's genius... It can be red at so many levels it's not even funny!
First of all they are passing the message that one year later things haven't changed... same Apple fanatics, same Apple's company policies and strategies, same crappy ass backward products.... while Samsung keeps coming up with high quality and technologically advanced products...
Another message you can read if you will is that Samsung focuses on improving their phones instead of focusing on making new commercials.....
It is not usually a good idea to recycle a commercial... there are some exceptions... this is one.
