Did the g2x got another update? - T-Mobile LG G2x

ok guys when i updated my phone with LG Tool and got gb on it the taskbar got the 4g and signal and battery green and of course black layout. i went to tmobile today and i saw it had the gb on it but it was still black layout but the icons were white.
so i went into about phone to see if there was another update but everything seens normal still 2.3.3 and same baseband and all
oh and still had the gb camera
i'm asking this because i'm rooted and using another rom so i would not get a OTA

Stock ota uses white bars/icon.
most rooted roms use a themed green bar/icons.

[Q] Droid 2 Gingerbread ROM Possible?

Hello everyone.
I have the Droid 2 Global. I'm wondering if there's a way to get the Gingerbread Rom from the Droid 2 on the phone and working. I've seen people saying there's a patch that you can apply for the radio so it uses the right frequency being that this phone is for Global use or GSM and all is this correct?
I mean I've seen people say that you can take a Droid 2 Rom apply it to this phone then patch it right?
So does that mean that I Can use a Droid 2 Gingerbread Rom on here and that I just need to patch it after?
If so please do tell because I don't see any one mentioning this any where and I've looked for the last few weeks now.
Thanks ahead of time people.
No, trying to install the droid 2 gingerbread on a d2g will result in an instr-brick that you can't fix. That patch that you're talking about is the get r done rommer that only applies to froyo Roms from the d2, it doesn't work on gingerbread Roms until the d2g gets gingerbread.

I really wish some one would show this phone some love already.. This is a good phone. I keep seeing people asking about roms. Do I need to donate because I will? I came from a welcom a88 that was a piece and it had gingerbread via cyanogen and an hd2 that had cyanogen. I don't understand why this one has nothing yet.... Thank you for answering me by the way.
Much appreciated.
Cyon mod needs to be able to get to the bootloader, to work we have a locked one so we cant get cyon till its unlock. but we have some devs coming up, but they are waiting for a leaked Gingerbread or OTA, before they start to build a rom, some people feel that the GB is only days aways

GOD i hope you're right it's driving me nuts. I already made my status bar transparent on my own using ninja morph. Now I'm trying to find some one that can give me a status bar drop down background that's transparent and I will be happy until the rom is released.
I can't see my text right now on the drop down because it's pitch black and the text is pitch black.

[Q] Root for Gingerbread on Droid Pro?

Im on an unlocked Droid Pro and manually got myself the Gingerbread update
but I cant seem to find a a final answer to whether or not gingerbread on the droid pro can be rooted?
most forums suggest that manually installing the pre rooted gingerbread was my best bet.. but since im past that stage, is there any looking forward?
I did the same and recovered to my T-Mobile rom really hardly back
You should be able to download the team black hat app and get the new 3.8.7 sbf (this is the most recent froyo update) and flash your phone back to froyo with the sbf. After getting back to froyo you can then install the prerooted gingerbread.

[Q] How to update to GB

Hi guys most of you might find this question silly but there are some of us newcomers who are still getting into this!
So, I rooted my phone, have ROM Manager and CWM Recovery, version 3 and my question is how we're going to update to official GB when it becomes available? Will we do it through official T-Mobile update, or will some of you guys make it available for us?
Thank you all!
Yes...
you should be about to get it either way. If you get the official update you will probably lose root... If you wait a few there will be a rooted version posted by one of the many xda members...

One more dumb question: Why is everybody so excited about the official GB update, when we have right now a few GB leaked versions with some custom ROMs (Bionix from TeamWhiskey, etc... ) available, for which as I hear, many say are excellent? Is this official one gonna be better in any significant way than these custom already out? Thanks! )

It will come with an official GB kernel and hopefully updated battery drivers and A2DP functionality...Amongst other LG fixes (again, hopefully).

OK, I get it... So, all these unofficial GBs are sort of limited because they lack these LG stuff they're (hopefully) putting into the official one. That's why it's smart to wait a bit more.
Hopefully it will fix most or all the problems.

Yes, that's the case. The leak has issues (which makes sense, it's not a finished build), and almost all Gingerbread mods are based on the leak so they have the same issues. I know CM7 is using the Gingerbread source instead and has fixed a lot of the issues, but not all of them.
The official update is not only going to be completely stable (hopefully) but will come bundled with better drivers/kernel support which will fix most of the common issues with the phone (hopefully).
I've gone through an Over The Air update to Android before, and if it's like what I experienced, you're going to get a pop-up that asks if you want to update now or later. Choose later if you want to keep root, someone here will have the official build rooted probably within the hour but definitely within the first couple of days.
In the mean time though, don't be scared of trying out one of the ROMs that are available. I swear by CM7, but I've heard wonderful things about EagleBlood and Ultimate too.

I have heard that official updating the rooted phone could actually brick it? And when a mod is nightly version, does it mean it it not completely stable? I am interested in CM7, but I could not find a stable version on their site.
Thanks!
i have question also since it's related to thread title. i'm running stock right now but rooted. once i update to gingerbread cm7, will i have to install all apps and settings all over? and will call log and stuff like that disappear also?

You should be able to get all of that stuff after startup my hitting the square boxes in the initial setup. Worked for me yesterday with the Eagleblood 2.3.4 ROM, when someone recommended it to me rather than Titaniumbackup which screwed up my phone a lot because I went from Froyo to GB

When I did an OTA update, it kept all of my apps and settings. I can't remember if it preserved call log.

I don't know if it will brick or not, my OTA was not rooted. And CM7 nightlies are NOT completely stable, but they're on build 58 by now and the ROM works perfectly fine. The only issue I can see with the phone is the top bar they added to the notifications menu that has toggle-able settings like WIFI, GPS, etc sometimes doesn't show up and in the camera, it calls both cameras "back" instead of one being "front".
But if you're concerned with stability that much, use the leak or EagleBlood.

If we get the ICS OTA, will I get it if I am on froyo?

Sorry if its a dumb question, I'm just curious though because I'm on froyo since I cant stand the gingerbread camera.
You do know that you can use gingerbread with the fryo camera right?
And i dont think anyone knows yet. YOu may get a prompt or you may have to go into tmobile and download the zip uodate file. To soon to tell.

Yeah but it has bugs still. Unless they updated it recently? Last time I checked it was still 3.0 and I used it and ffc was jacked up.
im on stock root 2.3.3 and the ffc works fine for me. I have taken a few pix with it and all seems fine.

@PitbullVMX - That depends on how the OTA is formatted. If they do it correctly it should update from either Froyo or GB, but if they do it sloppy (like LG is known for) then it will update from GB only. But you can always use the LG Updater to update and hope it works without any glitches (OTA updates are safer). Not a dumb questions at all. Actually a very good question.
@xile6 - Are you using the LG camera from Froyo or the stock Android camera that came with the 2.3.3 update. They are not the same camera app, not even close.
IF, they do it at all........
some one has some big dreams

LG camera 3.0 The one that has zoom, 4 flash settings, and all the setting. Its nothing like the gb camera from my g2. So im guessing its the lg froyo camera. Been using it for a while and havent had any problems
Try the LG Cam from the 2.3.4 build ported from the O2X. That one might work better, I don't know. I haven't tried; I use HDR Camera+.

Try to update to 2012 Baseband

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to update to the new baseband but everytime I run the fix my phone still says I have the july 2011 baseband. I am running Hellfire 1.8 and I tried to do it the way it says by flashing ROM, FIX, then GAPPS. but to no avail.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You must be on lg's stock Tom with the old baseband and the run lg's update tool

So I would need to go back to a stock ROM, update baseband, THEN go back to HFS 1.8 for it to go through?

I just got finished doing this, WOW the GPS has a fast lock now. Make sure that you flash the BB FIX after you restore you HFP
Guys I cant install the lg update tool. gets stuck around 10% then just stops. Im already having issues and I havent even gotten to the phone part lol help? tried rebooting laptop, running w7 64bit T420 8g RAM. I dont think its my laptop..
UPDATE: added screenshot of where setup gets stuck.
follow this thread. works like a charm. make a backup of your device first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
the steps in this thread will restore a stock gingerbread rom. when that is done, use nvflash and put the stock recovery back on as well
reboot your phone and do the update that way (over the air). look in About Phone under system settings and you will see a menu item at the top called software update (or something similar). use that to update your phone, you will end up with GB 2.3.4 and the new baseband
if you want to use a custom rom, eaglesblood build 4 has support for the new baseband built in or you can use CM7 RC3 or a currently nightly, or you can use either kwes or buru's roms, OR owain has a bb update zip that is supposed to work on any rom
good luck!
Sorry it just turned out that it was my jobs firewall that didn't allow the install to talk to the Lg servers. I got home and it worked so I now am running HFS 1.8 with the new baseband. Thanks for everyone's help on this.

how is your BT and call quality? those are issues on all but the stock 2.3.4 that comes with the new baseband (and the tweaked roms based off it)

The only thing I've tried through BT is tethering, as I dont use a BT headset, which works great. Call quality is clearer but not a huge difference. Data drops less often now though.

Bluetooth not working during calls is a confirmed problem with recent CM7 builds. Star this issue so it gets more attention, no guarantee it'll be fixed though.

Try and get as many people to star that so perhaps the developers won't keep telling us it's "Hit or miss" and not a big issue.
I've had no luck with Bluetooth on new baseband but it works great on the stock 2.3.4 ROM from LG. Loaded with tons of bloatware to slow your phone down again.

i starred it and hope it gets fixed one way or the other and i agree, the new stock 2.3.4 works great and getting rid of bloat shouldn't be a problem however, just yesterday and today while running 2.3.4 my phone would just start getting really hot doing nothing but sitting in the holster, screen off, 4g off, BT off, wifi off, dont understand, but i put cm7 june 10 build on and now it doesnt do that
Yeah, I can run custom ROMs and all is well other than Bluetooth for call audio. My problem is I drive all day and have to use Bluetooth, so I'm stuck on stock
Hopefully it will get fixed.
