[Q] AT&T Nexus 4 help

So I walked into AT&T to help my girlfriend go from her non-smartphone plan to the prepaid $65 a month data plan so that she could use an unlocked Nexus 4 using the plan. Before you say she should switch to T-mobile that isn't an option (I wish it was).
The lady there said that she didn't think the Nexus could work using that plan because something about it having 4g capabilities. To my knowledge the Nexus 4 is NOT a 4g device (not LTE anyways), and I left very confused about something I thought would be extremely easy.
Could anyone explain to me how you would use the Nexus 4 on AT&T's prepaid plan, or AT&T in general. Were they just trying to bait me into getting her a 2 year contract?

I am talking to a rep. online who says the $65 a month data plan only allows for 3g speeds regardless of phone, so what are my AT&T options off contract that allow for 4g speeds?

[Q] Samsung S4 Google Edition, Grandfathered AT&T plan, LTE questions.

Hey XDA guys;
I am a long time AT&T customer and I have an Unlimited Plan. I've never had a phone with LTE enabled because I hated the options available at AT&T so I've always used unlocked phones like the Nexus 4 on HSPA.
Now that the Google Edition of the S4 is being launched, I've decided to purchase it if I can get a LTE on my grandfathered unlimited plan. I've heard that many people have moved to LTE on their old unlimited plans, but a lot of those stories involve using 2 year upgrades and purchasing AT&T phones.
My concern is that I won't get the LTE connection though because it's not an AT&T phone. I have no desire to give up unlimited data for LTE either. Question: Does anyone know if I can get LTE on the Google Edition S4 by just calling/visiting AT&T and asking them to enable it?

I'm on VZW, but it's my understanding that you only lose your grandfathered unlimited when you buy a phone at subsidized price. I could go into VZW right now and drop $800 on a new phone, and keep my unlimited, but pay the $1500 subsidized price and I lose it. So I'd imagine that as long as your phone is compatible with AT&T's LTE you should be good to go, but calling them wouldn't hurt!

Yea it makes sense that VZW and AT&T have similar policies. I worry about calling AT&T or using their forums in fear of getting deceptive answers.

To tmobile or not tmobile, this is my question

Im currently on verizon and am paying a little more than when I started. My contract is over but I cant take advantage of the upgrade because I would loose my unlimited data plan. My sister and I have a family plan, She pays for 2.5 of the phones and I pay the other 2.5(we both pay half of moms). So I am looking at switching to T-mobile but I have no idea what the coverage is like here in town. So first of I would like to know if anyone is from Waco, Tx. and what kind of coverage they get.
My other option is unlocking my razr and using tmobile for a month. I wouldn't want to loose my verizon plan just in case the coverage here is crappy so I would have to pay for both verizon plan and tmobile. But I want to know if theres a way I can do this without verizon knowing that I unlocked my phone and used it on tmobile. Can I just deactivate the device and activate another one I have?
My third option is using my nexus 7, but I dont think I can make phone calls through it. I was reading through the forum and dont think they ever got that issue fixed.
Any other options? Any ideas?

So my contract is up at AT&T, I have been thinking about switching to T-Mobile but I am scared that T-Mobile will not work inside my building at work. I don't want to cancel my AT&T until I know because I have the grandfathered unlimited data.
What I decided to do was to buy a Nexus 5, go to T-Mobile get a plan and try it out for a few weeks to see how the service is. My question is if I decide I do not want to move to T-Mobile and stay with AT&T is it as easy as cancelling the plan because I own the phone, and switching the sim card from T-Mobile to an AT&T?

Yes. Grab a prepaid sim and pay for one month service from T-Mobile. If you don't like it go back to att.

If you don't need the unlimited data (and it sounds like you don't if you're willing to switch to T-Mobile), another option to consider is the at&t pre-paid route. The GoPhone service is reasonably priced (2gb data for $60), and you'll be staying on the same at&t network.

why waste money on a new device, unless you really want to upgrade to a Nexus 5?
unlock your current S3, test the t-mobile service
I have to say that tmobile's building penetration is indeed poor... enough at my desk near a window, but not enough inside the window-less room in the middle of the building
but it's cheaper than the other plans available by the other carriers. but if you are on a grandfathered plan, evaluate whether it's worth staying

[Q] Traveling to Germany - Advice Needed

I have a Nexus 5 on Sprint right now. Their data and voice plans in Germany are kind of insane. I was thinking of getting a SIM overseas and throwing it into my Nexus 5.
Any recommendations on who to use as a carrier? What it might cost? and Anything special I might need to know about my Nexus 5?
I originally had it active on T-Mobile, but to move it to Sprint I had to factory reset. I am assuming I may need to do that overseas.
Also, I know T-Mobile has some insane plan for personnel using their post-paid plan, does anyone know if they have a sim setup for their pre-paid that includes the International data/voice calling?
I tried searching but didn't find anything that matched what I was looking for!

I'm also on Sprint and you're right, their rates are skyhigh.
I spent most of my summer in Berlin last year as part of a study abroad program. Since I'm not sure where you are going I can't exactly recommend the best service for your area. However Telekom and O2 have very good service across Germany and across most of Europe. Without a German bank card (EC Karte) your options are kind of limited. You will only be able to have a prepaid plan. I went with O2 as they had great service in Berlin and they had a very inexpensive roaming plan for when I was in Poland. I went with the O2 Smart Loop plan. For about 40 Euros a month you can get 3GB of data, 100 minutes (0.09/min thereafter), and sms. Since I was using mostly data and was only going to make calls in an emergency this plan worked for me. Also in Germany you are not charged for incoming sms or calls, so anyone can call you and you are not billed, they are.
The N5 should work just fine on any network in Germany. I used an N4 last year (purchased it just for the trip and sold it to buy an N5) and had no issues. I did swap sims with several friends and I never had to reset my device. Just had to select the new apn and go from there. It was very simple.
In regards to T-Mo, they only allow the international text/data if you sign up for a post-paid Simple Choice Plan. The calls are a flat rate 0.20/min. Looking through their prepaid plans I can't find anything that allows international use. :/
