[Q] Help with a few issues - Samsung Infuse 4G

Love my infuse, but there are a few quirks that drive me up the friggin wall about it and I'm wondering if there are any quick/easy (or even not so quick/easy) fixes for them'
1. Wifi refuses to reconnect to a known network if I leave the range of the network and then come back. I know the phone has wifi issues that are detailed here, but I haven't seen that one specifically.
2. Bluetooth will not reconnect to a known device that it has been (and is still) paired with. Every time I want to use bluetooth audio in the car (via my sony head unit) I have to turn on bluetooth, go to settings, and then network/connection settings and find the head unit and click on it. It would be quicker/easier to use an aux cable at this point. Every other phone I've had would auto-connect.
3. Bluetooth audio quality. Sounds very tinny, no bass to it what-so-ever
Would appreciate any help

Some info would help... are you stock? If not, what are you running?

If I didn't turn on bluetooth before I started my truck, I had the same problem with the bt connection. I think the problem was with the stereo not looking again for the bt signal. If I turned off the stereo then turned it back on everything was fine. Hope that helps.
Edit: I have a sony unit also.

Oops, sorry I mean to include that I am on Infused 1.6
Had these issues even with the stock ROM though. Was thinking about trying a GB as some people seem to have better luck with the wifi but not sure about the BT.
Thanks for the tip fishjam, I'll try turning on BT before the stereo.

Same issue on stock. I created a tasker profile that flips the wifi on and off when wifi disconnects and it helps but doesn't cure it. I think part of the problem is that the phone "holds on" to connections that aren't really there. For instance according to tasker my wifi strength will be 1 but I won't actually be able to use it yet the phone insists it is still connected when you are at the fringe of wifi range. I may tinker more when I have time as I was looking at the tasker forums and you can parse out data from the info page. I may try to just have it connect/disconnect when the signal strength is 2 or less. My main issue is at work with multiple waps as I make my way through the facility.

Was able to get the bluetooth to reconnect to my head unit by leaving it on, or turning it on before starting the car as mentioned above. Thanks for that, much much better now. If only I could fix the damn wifi issues!

Does turning wifi off and back on solve the wifi issue?

Check your settings for checking wifi my auto connects if I leave and come back but it won't untilled the interval has ended IE if the interval is every 10 minutes and you leave and come back in 8 it will really assign to your wifi in two minutes. If you have this option turned of you will have to manually reconnect ecerytime

Keep Losing Bluetooth Pairings

Anyone else seeing some odd behavior with bluetooth pairings? I keep on having to re-pair with my laptop (Win 7 64x) and my car (Audi S4). Complete pain.
I use it with my computer (Win 7 32-bit) and my Motorola bluetooth headset, no problems since I first paired each (sometime in July).
I have the same issue at times....quite frustrating and I have found no way to stop it from happening....
Yep. I get this too. My only fix has been to turn off my plantronics earpiece and when turned back on it connects.

It used to work fine for me with stock build. Now on JH3 I have the issue...

I am JH3 as well, FWIW. Dunno if JF6 gave me the same problem. I now have 3 of the same device in my Win7 BT folder. I also remember seeing the BT settings reverting to old ones.
Problem I keep on having is that the media profile, or A2DP, setting won't enable when I turn on my stereo bluetooth headset. It'll sometimes reestablish the media profile if I keep on turning off and on the bluetooth setting on the phone and headset, but most of the time I just end up having to re-pair my it. Would be awesome to know if anyone knew how to fix this.

I suppose I should just throw in there...I never had the problem with JF6. I'm running JH7 now and still have not experienced it, will report if I notice anything.
More Info
While I don't have a solution, I have researched this problem a bit.
In my experience the problem happens when I disable the phone capability of a device.
For instance, I have a pair of stereo bluetooth headphones that I can make calls with, as well as listen to music and other audio.
If I edit the profile and disable the phone function, the whole device disappears from my phone if I reboot it. If I leave the phone option enabled, it does not disappear.
Disabling the media option does not appear to have any affect as long as the phone option remains active.
My rom is stock.
The pairings don't disappear, but my motorrokr s9-hd disconnects and I have to restart the player and then press the headsets connect button. Just hitting the connect button only activates the display, but doesn't start the player. The way the headset connects just isn't right.
There are things like the headset disconnects and the browser crashing, that sometimes don't happen for days and then will happen repeatedly in minutes.
I do hope that froyo fixes some of these problems...
I have some similar problems. I have a Spracht AURA Mobile BT Speakerphone in my car and I don't use it that often but when I turn it on it doesn't seem to keep the pairing every time. It worked fine with my TouchPro on WinMo.
Another strange thing is that when it is working and I turn off the BT on the phone then come back in the car and turn it on again and it pairs, it immediately starts redialing the last number I called. VERY annoying. Fortunately I've caught it every time but I don't know why it would do that.

2 new issues with my Charge

So I just ran into these problems today and I wanted to find out if anyone else is experiencing them.
#1 My Charge's bluetooth will not stay connected to my Kia Soul's built bluetooth for phone calls, it would connect for literally 3 mins then just disconnect, almost like the phone was transmitting a bluetooth signal to pair with.
#2 I was using a cord to plug in my phone to my radio's auxiliary plug to test the phone as a replacement to my Ipod. However, every time I turned the part plugged into the phone using the headphone plug, or moved the cord or the phone, the phone would stop playing music and sometimes randomly skip to the next song. This is no longer an issue, just me not pushing the cord in far enough.
Im running the custom ROM so I am going to try this with stock, but neither things seems like itd be a ROM issue to me.
1) Does it disconnect during calls? It should go to sleep after a while, but if receiving a call it should reconnect if bluetooth is still turned on on the phone. This is Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR power saving working correctly unless it happens DURING calls, but it should sleep when idle.
2) I have had similar issues with cables no fitting properly, high end cabls likfe griffin/monster/etc have given me less issues, also make sure if you're usinga case that it is seated fully, some cases will keep it from being seated, on a headset with controls it uses a third ring for the mic and controls, and poor fitment can cause a stereo cable to short out on the third pin causing those issues.
I don't use BT, so I'm not much help with #1. For #2 though, I have read from several different users that the WM8994 chip/codec that this phone uses + voodoo sound is one of the best sound audio devices available, and provides a much nicer sound than any iPhone/iPod can. Now if only I could get my kernel config fixed.

It does not do it during calls, however, it does not reconnect when a call comes in either, I have to reconnect manually.
If this is how its designed, its actually a HUGE pain in the butt, I am an advertising salesman for a newspaper so I spend half my week driving and part of the reason I bought the Kia was for the bluetooth.

Check the ford sync thread for your bt issue
I actually was trying to find it earlier (I did not use search though) seemed it got buried somewhere, but I will look through it.
I have the same problem in my week old Kia Forte. From what I've read it's not the cars. It happens on several types of cars with several types of phones. It has to do with the down loading of the phone books. If you have a lot of contacts on your phone the BT messes up. I read that if you turn off your phone and then turn it back on it will reconnect and stay that way.
So far that DOES work. I do that almost every time I get in.
But that's the bad thing, you have to do that a lot. My suggestion is clean up your contacts. If you have old ones that you don't really use or call dump them.

I think I might have fixed my problem because I had my phone set to show contacts that did not have phone #s, just email addresses (I have a lot of those from work), anyways I had the hide those and it may have cleared up my problem, probably confused it trying to download contacts with no phone #

[Q] bluetooth ???

I was looking for this on all forum and did not find answer. I get second one skyrocket and second blutooth device plantronic voyager pro HD and still have problem as is had with last one. Devices paired with no problem and worked for some one-two days with no problem. After that time sound is scrachy and disconnect from phone, then i can not turn on or off blutooth on phone and also can not find device antill i restart phone. Skayrocket running on rooted stock and I installed CWM on. Did not flash with any rom yet. Any idea what is the problem or this is hardware problem again ( that why i replace last one phone and bluetooth) ???
There's an issue with bluetooth on the skyrocket and the galaxy s2 for some reason. I am running the newest version of seanzscreams ROM and I've had no issues since I updated. My bluetooth would think it was connected but when I made a call I'll have no audio. I would have to reboot my skyrocket and resync my bluetooth. Hopefully they fix it in the ICS release.
so many ppl having bluetooth issue. SO i ma gonna take out my jawbone and see if i can help these ppl out.
I have the Era, Plantronics backbeat 903+, and the Blue Ant Q2 and they all do the same darn thing. It's weird, the phone even shows it's connected. When I press the button on my Era is says how much talk time is left but not connect me to your phone. It is a pain. I wish it would automatically sync to my car when I turn it on and switch off my earpiece. Guess we need to wait for an app or something.
Well my jawbone got connected to phone easily. Made phone call and every thing went smooth so good news for me. Running Ice cream rom.
What I found was that you have to make sure it's set to auto connect if not then you'll have to manually connect it every time in your Bluetooth settings.

Thanks all for answers.. I hope someone will find solution for problem , i also will try to flash some roms to see what is working what not..
I was having a strange problem with bluetooth as well. The audio would become undecipherable sometimes. I found that when I had wifi turned on I could recreate the issue and when I turned it off the issue when away. I've since used tasker to turn off the wifi when initiating a bluetooth connection and haven't had the problem since. Your results may vary, but couldn't hurt to try it out. Hopefully it'll fix your issue.
There is a definitely issue with bluetooth. I use 5 different sets of bluetooth (Bose, Plantronics Voyager Pro, Plantroinics 975, Blueant Q2, Jawbone) and they all seem to have an issue with Skyrocket. Even tho they are paired and connected to the phone, I can't seem to hear anything. Also, sometimes it does not turn on or off. There are times when it won't even connect/pair even though the bluetooth is set on auto connect. I have to reboot in order to get it working correctly. With my Bionic, I never have that issue. This is my 2nd set of Skyrocket and my first one had the same issues.

In "Settings", "Use Power saving mode", there are a number of defaults, one of which is "turn off blutetooth".
If you have powersavings enabled and this ticked off it will drop your BT connection if it's idle for a bit... It also has the same foy wi-fi, gps, and sync, and timeout and response values for brightness and timeout.
Also note that reaching your "low power" threshold set in this area will turn off all of those too.

I'm on my second White Skyrocket and am still having the same bluetooth issue. After connecting with my car, then leaving the car and returning later, I cannot turn BT back on without a reboot. Once it connects, it works well though.
Issue w/Speaker
I've not connected with a bluetooth headset, but I have HORRIBLE audio issues when using my Parrot 2.1 b'tooth speaker.
Rocket connects & keeps connection, but audio drops & is choppy - even when < 4' away.
White Skyrocket on faux's kernel & seanscreamz SkyIceCreamSandwich RC6.6 ROM.
I did something diffriend on my wifes skayrocket with stock rom and no root totaly clean...
I turn on bloototh on phone and connect to handset, connection is exelent so i never turn off bluetooth on phone and so fare so good for last 2 days.

BT sucks down too much battery life to leave on all the time for me.
That's what we have found to be the issue....everything works unless bt is toggled off then back on
Bt draining battery when not connected does not make much sense...it doesn't scan frequently once on from what I can tell. Would have to run some logs to verify

Try with Wifi turned off and see if that helps
I'm running Sky Ice Cream Snadwich 6.5Z. I seem to have bluetooth issues with my Backbeat 903+ when Wifi is turned on. I just tested it. I hung up the call, turned off Wifi and the audio was much better. I still have to have the in-call volume turned way down though
I will say that the 903+ were kind of crappy when I used them with my iPhone 3GS too though. Again, had to turn the volume all the way down. Its too bad because I really loved the first gen of this headset
I was palying with bluetooth and I notice if i turn off Bluetooth PBAP and Bluetooth Share my connection to handset if perfect. Can somebody explain what are this two thinks and what role they have in phone ?
You can find Bluetooth info here:
(sorry new member... can't post outside links... search wikipedia for "Bluetooth profile")
It will explain what PBAP and all those other services that do not work and cause you grief...
I have a feeling that this issue with this model of phone could be because it is using Bluetooth 3.0, maybe the Bluetooth devices we are trying to connect to are not compatible or struggle with the data transfer rate?
In any case it is super annoying, lets hope the issue gets fixed with ICS. I am trying to use my SGS2 LTE (on Rogers in Canada) with my Bluetooth in my Hyundai Tucson 2010... it rarely connects, and when it does either it cannot download my address book or people cannot hear me.
I read in this thread "set it to connect automatically", I cannot find this setting on the phone, any help?
Thanks,
Marc

[Q] Bluetooth doesn't auto connect

Guys, I have a BT device in my car that is connected to my car audio system. I've set up my nexus 5 to connect to it, and it works great, but there is one flaw - the phone won't auto connect to it when I turn it on, I will have to turn BT off and back on on my phone for it to discover the car BT and then it will immediately connect to it. *I always leave the BT on on my nexus5 in hopes that it will auto connect but in never does, only auto connected about 4 times out of the dozens of times iv'e used it. any ideas?

I don't know if this is a flaw with your Bluetooth device or your phone. I have some devices that auto-connect and some that don't. I doubt you car BT device will have many options (if any) but maybe check and see (if you haven't already) if it has an auto-connect option or something along those lines.
Do you have any other BT devices you can test connecting and disconnecting to/from like you would your car? Eliminate if it's the stereo or your phone. You could also using something like Tasker and create a profile to do what you want. Just a thought.
Hope this helps.
It's most likely the fault of your cars Bluetooth system. Some just don't reliably autoconnect. Try a kinivo bt module 40 bucks on Amazon, works perfectly.

Hey buddy, thanks for the thoughtful reply, I'll try and see if I can find another BT device to test my phone with. One thing I did test today, that I don't do every day, is to turn my phone BT off and back on BEFORE turning on the BT device I have in my car, then I turned the device on, and it connected immediately.. This shows its more likely to be a fault with the phone..

I'll try and find it on ebay, Amazon does ship to my country but for some reason the shipping cost is the same or sometimes more than the item itself..
my BT device connects to phone on power up, e.g. when start car
Well, today it auto connected, I got in my car with my son, and didn't have a chance to unlock the phone to check if it connected to the BT, but when I checked, about 20 minutes after getting in my car, the BT was connected. this got me thinking maybe there's a connection delay, when I'll leave work today I'll see if it'll connect on it's own after leaving it alone.

Mine won't auto connect to bluetooth until I've gotten far enough from my house that my phone disconnects from WiFi. Maybe this was what you experienced too? I'm unsure.

Bluetooth & Car issues

I don't know if anyone is having this issue but several times when im on a call in the car after a certain period of time my phone disconnects from the car and reconnects.
Has anyone had a similar issue? Otherwise it could be my car but would like to avoid taking it in.

It might be your car, but I would suggest turning off the nearby device scanning, because if it detects another Bluetooth device, it will try to connect to the other device, which might be causing the disconnection problem.

definetly is your car, more than this i tell you that is BT of you car not anymore compatible with MM.
I have a Pioneer one, mentime is connected with gear fit and hand free car audio with my S7, no issues.
In the past with lollipop, i had to change car audio to make it compatible.
i suggest to contact you car brand for a update(something impossible but it is worth a try)
I just got the S7 two days ago and I use Tasker to automate music playing both on my BT speaker and in my car. Using both devices the bluetooth connects/disconnects/reconnects in a second according to the log in Tasker. So say goodbye to using Exit Tasks if a profile is set to run on BT Connect.
edit: btw just to clarify, the phone doesn't disconnect after that initial issue and that can only be detected because of the way Tasker works/because of the log, otherwise connecting to a BT device appears to be seamless, you won't notice it dropping the connection for one second when it initially tries to connect.
