Why won't the home screen of this phone rotate just by rotating the phone? At first, I thought maybe they didn't have landscape versions of all of the widgets, or something. But if you slide open the keyboard, the entire Sense UI rotates. It just won't rotate without opening the keyboard. What's up with that? Would it be possible to create a mod that allowed it to rotate without opening the keyboard?
Are you running supreme sense? This is a known bug.

Its not a BUG, how many times does one have to tell you that THE ROSIE SUPREME SENSE USES DOES NOT HAVE LANDSCAPE! Why because the phone that Rosie.apk was pulled from is a non keyboard phone meaning they have no use for landscape, see its people like you with your inaccurate information that makes our threads clogged with usless posts and stupid questions and problems left unsolved, maybe you should stick to just reading posts untill you get a feel for posting

Lol you got some catching up to do, if a ROM isnt made with a camera thats not a bug, if this Rosie wasnt coded for landscape(which its not) that still means its not a bug, and when it comes to sense 3.5 it might landscape its made for single core kb devices

Yeah I saw the thread in general about it being out for the hero. So I'm guessing it doesn't look as pretty or have the same functionality of Sense 3.0? Maybe grab Rosie from 3.5 and keep all the cool features of 3.0 if that's the case?

I will if and when m10 editor gets updated man i swear it looks like my 2 year old designed it, the colors are plain the lockring is cheap and i hate the 2 button Rosie, so maybe if i can edit that 3.5 one to look like the one we have now you allready know ill grab it for supreme, i alsways deliver on whats asked, wait till my next update im bringing a couple new editions

I will post this once. With everything you have, you need to have trade-offs. It's like a car. You can have GREAT acceleration and speed but you have to usually trade out handling. It's the same with roms. Nothing can work at 100% efficiency ever. It's the flaw of engineering. Both hardware and software follow that law. Stop taking criticism so personally and just try and fix it some how. :|
But then you will have to trade something else off as well so make sure you weigh the options.

1. There is already a topic about this.
2. There is NO WAY to run the phone without Sense UI without installing a custom ROM. Sense UI is highly integrated into the OS. The video that you see is the EVO running launcher2.apk instead of Rosie.apk (the Sense home app). This is nothing new or exciting, so I wish people would stop making damn topics about it.

I always used to hate sense, but then after looking very close at this phone, I have to admit i love it now! Just getting more and more psyched for this phone every time i see it. I think if everyone took their time to look in to sense ui, they would end up liking it a lot like myself.

For many this is true. For others, I suspect there are multiple motivations for wanting a pure android. I suspect most fall into one or more of 3 categories.
They may want pure as the driven snow Open Source Android
They might want as few of what they don't need as possible for increased resources
They simply don't like the HTC and it's prettiness

I like Android Sense. Makes the transition from WM6.5 Sense a lot smother for me

You won't save much battery if you turn Sense off. Unless you just have pages full of self updating widgets or something.

Or at least sense with the stock 2.2 launcher. I actually like the default contacts and messaging apps for sense. Not to mention the clock is way better too, and camera has tap to focus. One thing AOSP has for me though is the look, the white and orange are very appeasing for some reason.

I don't think they promised anything at any date, other than that most handsets made after 2010 will get 2.2... no specific dates were set..maybe i am wrong and please link me if i am..

HTC Sense is "attractive", but not for everyone.
The first time I played with Sense was on a Hero ROM on my G1. Then again with the Desire ROM on my Nexus.
Even with the Nexus speed increase, it was definitely NOT sexy.
I really like the Plain Jane look of Android™ raw.

This is going to be a 100% true no sense 2.1. this means sense frameworks will be gone and the BT wiimote will work. it will also run a million times faster than the sensleless roms now because im not just removing sense apps, ill be using 2.1 nexus eclair stock rom as base.
So until release tell me some app ideas and some theme ideas.

its got the vanilla lock screen (i think thats the name) side scroll to unlock. Also has helix launcher. ASOP top bar which i also am a fan of.
I dont know if 4g works because, 4g isnt available here yet, (WTF CMON NYC)

Lol yes they do work i guess they arent attached to the system to function like we expect them to. I went into terminal emulator and i could use the capacitive buttons to type in it. Although i could only type 1 thing the whole time.

well im sure they arent broken, but when home does not take you to the home screen, menu doesnt bring up a menu, back doesnt go back , and search, well i dont use that sucker for anything, but when they dont to what they're supposed to do, they dont work.

well do you just want the launcher and widgets or the whole set of menus dialer and more?
you can use 3rd party apps like go contacts and launcher pro and go weather or beautiful widgets or fancy widget and replace the lock screen with a market ap but to port the ui takes work both ui's have some kernel integration and the phones use completely different hardware so it takes a lot of work from experienced developers and none here have any interest in that. best i can tell you is to buy a sensation or it's canadia equivelant if you are not satisfied with market app.
though i do like mikeys suggestion.
I prefer Mikey's suggestion, agree with Dani's and suggest you look at how the proposed Sense port went for the original sgs and then come back......
I used Sense with Cookie's improvments. The GO Launcher and ALL of its addons are actually far superior - then add 2 quicklauncher - and this phone DESTROYS sense. Just a bit more work to get all assembled - but its all there and WAY MORE.

Getting TRUE sense UI on samsung based rom is (impossible??). Porting them is a lot harder then anyone might think.
sense is very heavy. i remember even 2 years ago on windows mobile phones it consisted of thousands of files. and it seems to only have gotten more bloated. its definitely not impossible, but its so intertwined with the framework, it would take alot of work. htc is not going to make it easy.

yeah I didn't know.. I know they port all the time from htc to htc so didnt know how it was from htc to another model or another model to htc.. the sense 3.5 for my inspire was great but the phone button broke, so i got the samsung infuse until the next htc came out.. I do however like some of the feedback i got and with a few free apps from the market ive got it dialed in with the htc looks without the battery cpu and mem hog.. may just get the galaxy 2 and mod it the same way and see if i can hold off on the htc.. but i hear the htc holiday aka raider is going to be amazing

I hooked her up with miui on her old phone and she seems to be okay using that but I'd kind of like to give her a taste of ics. It seems like all the ics roms for the shift are pretty buggy. You could have her run Supreme Sense v9.1. It's Stable and Fast right out of the box. Then you can flash an ICS Sandwhich Theme. There is THIS one by notso. Also there is one HERE by -somebody- ( no really that's his screen name ) .

Ummm it's not broken . It's a Hybrid Rom, and when it was made neither HTC, nor any of the Devs had figured out how to do Landscape on Sense 3.0. If landscape is a must, then there is always the HTC Flyer Rom that was ported .

Virtuos unity hacked in the landscape mod and were adamant that nobody used their mod. The mod is open source now but, I can't blame strapped365 for not including it...
If it isn't broken, DON'T FIX IT! Supreme Sense and MikG are both GREAT ROMS...

You know what Dan, I'm tired of you and have been since I told you on Gtalk I wanted to kick you in the face, you always have something negative to say, you went behind my back pming users saying that my ROM broke your ear piece and to not flash it....this is why i left and is also the reason that I don't do **** anymore, I thought of a way I could include landscape but It's posts like this that show me it really isn't even worth it to try. So if you want to do something helpful think of something to do...like hell take my Rose.apk decompile it change the xml to activate landscape then find images sized for a 480x800 phone that does landscape and add the folder and images and HOPE it resizes lol take care guys

But tell us how you really feel, because obviously that IM you sent me about "Oh I realize now why you were complaining about rotation in SS now, I finally flashed it on a shift and I see what you were complaining about now" was not what you really meant, I guess.
I never said SS was a bad ROM. Would I flash it for my dumb hot girlfriend? No, because she'd be complaining about the same thing and it's a functionality that would now be gone from her phone by flashing it. Stop taking it so personal.

How have you contributed again? Sure you have some guides on rooting that are basicly a re-hash of all the other guides out there, and a radio firmware thread. Where's your rom developement forums or links? You tell people that all roms besides U.K.E. and Mikshifted-G are not good and pm users about it. Then you expect to become a mod when you start **** around this community all the time. ROFL!

Well I figured out the 2.3.4 root exploit and how to unlock the new bootloader while working with Otaking71. But then again you wouldn't know that since you never hang out in #Htc_evo_Shift.

No it's not a root exploit or you could flash the eng bootloader right over the stock bootloader in adb shell. Unlocking the bootloader with htc tool is nothing new, it's been around for a long time now.

Ok sparky.
So I've been trying some of the many new ROMs we've seen lately. I've read through the bug reports and searched around cannot find anyone else having this issue. I install Swype Beta on every ROM and usually it works fine. However on some of the new ones it randomly won't want to swipe anymore. It starts acting like a normal keyboard. It worked just fine on the CM rom port Alpha 6. But it messes up on the recent Miui and the new Mik Sense v0.4 or something along those lines. Is this swypes fault or the ROM? should I reinstall one or the other?
I've had the same issues with Mik Sense v0.4. It might be a multi-touch thing because I was having similar issues with other apps.
I have the same issue intermittantly on CM9 and JB using FlexT9. The added dimension is that voice to text won't work either when the swype typing is jacked. When the swype typing is OK so is voice to text.

I vaguely recall having issues with getting the default keyboard to work when removing swype from bulletproof - doubt that info helps, but it did cause a headache on a modified stock gingerbread build.

I think you're dead on with the multi-touch issue. It only happens if I've been pecking the keyboard instead of swiping. For instance, if I type half a text by just pressing letters then try to swipe, it wont work. But then after the screen is inactive awhile it goes back to working. So now I'm guessing it's the rom itself?
On Sense ROMS there is a really cook function called trace. It uses the Stock KB but allows you to swype around to text.
My opinion is Swype sucks, it always has and always will*Please don't flame for my opinions. Anyways trace won't help on AOSP but it will sure fix the Sense issue.
I'm not thinking its due to multitouch at all, we always had issues on the HTC EVO Shift not wanting to swype for us after a few so once we all learned about what HTC provided in the keyboard settings we all loved it.

Could you elaborate on this trace a little? I've been running sense and never even heard of it. I really liked the ROM besides me not being able to use swype. If this is an adequate replacement I'm definitely up for testing it out.

Its in the keyboard and ROM settings. Give me a bit to flash back to virtuous infinity and ill post a screen shot or 2. Also so I can remember how to activate it ( I suffer short term memory loss, but who don't lmao ) be back in a bit man
