Downloaded and install CM7 nightly correctly, then realised i had forgotten to install Google Apps.
So i downloaded it for my CM7 nightly wiki
gapps-gb-20110613-signed (5MBish)
Booted to CWM7 and installed it successfully, after back to OS it doesnt prompt me to install the apps or even in the app drawer
Can anyone help?
Those apps are outdated. 8-28 or later.

Hello, I'm quite new to this, but i sucessfully rooted and installed cyanogenmod built 26 + google apps. It worked perfectly but after a short while, when I tried to open the Android Market, It says it is loading than crashes or whatever and goes back to homescreen. It sent out no error messages.
I tried reinstalling google apps, both gb and hdpi, upgrade cyanogenmod to built 27, and restoring market app to working version using Titanium Backup. They all couldn't fix the problem.
I than restore the kernel itself to stock using clockwork recovery, than the market did work.
Is there any way to fix this market issue on cyanogenmod? Or is it different issue related to Android Market?
Thanks for helping out this newbie!
I was having similar issues with CM7 so I just gave up on it until it they have a release candidate and not just nightlies.
Okay thank you for the info
I think I'll stay with the stock kernel or some other stable rom.
btw, how does the nightly build cyanogen mods work? Like why is it every night, whats the difference of every built, when will the stable version comes out?
Thanks
I have CM 6.1.1 and I have the same problem with market app.
I tried restoring the market app I was using before i flashed to CM6.1.1 but market app crashes, it opens up and the home screen is displayed again.
I tried downloading the market app apk and installing it but I faced the same problem again. Anyone have any idea how to go about this?

you just bumped a months old thread.
you're using CM 6.1.1, this is discontinued -- you're probably trying to use new markets on 2.2
its also pretty obvious that you don't have a Nexus S either :\
Hi,
I just installed Vortex's Custom Rom but there are a couple of other apps that were on the stock version that I'd like to have, including swype. I got a copy of all the stock apps for .602 and swype is in there along with some other apps like DLNA, it has both and APK and the ODYK files. I've tried to install swype through the phone but it constantly crashes.
Can someone tell me how to install these apps back onto the custom rom?
Thanks.
You can get swype using the swype beta install... Google it

Dear smart XDAers,
I installed AOKP Milestone 5 on my Captivate today, as well as the GAPPS from 4/29/12. For some reason, Gmail wasn't installed like it was using the same package on my Skyrocket.
I tried going to the Play store and installing it there, but Gmail won't show up.
Is the Gmail app not compatible with the Captivate?
Thanks for the input.

Redownload Gapps and flash a different build, Milestone 5 is old.
I wiped x3, formatted system x3, wiped dalvic, installed gapps, and still no gmail.
The same process on my Skyrocket installs gmail as well. I just can't understand why its not showing up.
I couldn't figure it out, so I decided to switch to Slim ICS 4.0. Working great now.

I rooted my phone and installed cyanogenmod 7. After i installed it alot of my apps were removed like play store, google map and etc...
So i restored my phone to see if i could get my apps back and it did, but now when i check for a software update it says current version is the latest which is not.
G2x
Software version: LG-P999-V10f
Version: 2.2.2
Rooted
Those apps that were removed can be installed by flashing Google apps, which cyanogenmod does not bundle to evade issues with Google.
Search for gapps cm7 and there ya go!

Arg. I really want the stock alarm/clock app running but with increasing volume. Is there a way of getting it to work? Its the only thing I have missing on my stock rom (if only there was an xposed mod for it! )
