This is going to be the thread used for fixing GB wifi, i didnt want it in the dev section so it would just get moved here
first thing i have for you guys to test is this init.d script by roach
just rename the file after the last init.d file you have SO IF YOU LAST INIT.D FILE SAYS 05WHATEVER THEN YOU NEED TO RENAME THIS FILE TO 06WHATEVER manually push this file to /system/etc/init.d and make sure the permissions are all checked
please get back to me

Ok, just ran wifi analyzer on my work's wifi connection to test this. Ran the test before the patch then pushed file in (renamed it to 06wifi_fix with no extension), rebooted the phone, let it sit for a couple of minutes and tried again.
BEFORE PATCH = -88dbm to -90dbm
AFTER PATCH = -89dmb to -92dbm and it seemed to bounce around a little more
Lower numbers are better btw, so it doesn't look like it helped. FWIW, on froyo those numbers were around -75 to -80 dbm

maybe its in the... /system/etc/wifi
theres 8 of bcm4330____.bins in froyo roms like tiggers and blackice
while in the gb leaks i looked up carefully theres a max of 3 bcm4330____.bins... maybe the lack of these files are the reason why the wifi is so low~

Thanks to all!
I used Reduxx Froyo and WIFI signal was very strong.
Since updating to Valhalla GB (KH2) 2.3.4 WIFI signal seems very low, i even flashed KI3, but no change...

problem is that the kernel source isn't available for gb. If it was, we would have rebuilt the wifi.ko stuff and would have fixed it by now, we would have also had a full cm7 and a full miui

Quick questions. 1. Just got my Nexsus S Saturday; coming from iPhone 4, and I have managed to root and installed CM 7 build 150 nightly and want to know. Do I have to do a complete wipe every time a new nightly comes out? Or can I just update? I have done the backup of my ROM the very first time and have actually backed up my ROM twice just be safe.
Other question maybe someone knows is, anyone using the Nexsus S on AT&T? Want to know if adjusting the build.prop files to speed up the download and upload speeds works? Reason is my I phone's download up load are much faster than the Nexsus S. Would like to at least match the speeds to my iPhone. Thanks.

Between nightlys you don't have to wipe. If they are changing the kernel (or you're experience other problems) wiping cache and dalvik cache might be necessary (in case of "other problems" fixing permissions in cwm recovery might also help).

I just installed the KD1 radio on my Nexus S and now my upload speed is uncapped. not as good as my iPhone 4, but now I am getting 1.9 - 2.8 download and upload .83-.99.
This is without any mod to the build.prop file. Don't if i should try it.
I might have take back my Nexus S back to Best Buy since I am getting the bug where the find button goes crazy without touching it.

What do you get on your iPhone 4?
You can always add the build.prop very easily. Once you change that file and save it a back up is created automatically.

On my iPhone 4 I normally get from 2.0 - 3.0 and sometimes as much as 3.3 download. Upload is always 1.2 and 1.5 unless I'm at home which is around .80.
Which radio are you using? Also what settings you end up using for the build.prop file? Did you just add them at the end if the file and rebooted twice? Will test out once I see what settings you used and radio.
I'm having a really bad issue with the search key going off in its own. Now it does more since i changed over the KD1 radio.

Hey guys I got a tweak from wolfs Rom working on my x10 that increases the signal greatly. Watch the how to video here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy0r-o1Bh9Q&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I now have over a 10000 kbps connection just like his in the video. Pretty cool.
First step unzip the file in your sd card then open the file via root explorer
Next go into system/etc/init.d and copy the modules script using root explorer.
Next go to your system on the actual phone (not the sd card) then go.to etc then find the folder called init.d. (if you dont have it flash this via recovery) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236446
Then place modules in the init folder.
Next go back to your sd card where the 4.0.4 thing is and go into system*etc and copy the entire. Install sh recovery folder then go back to the actual phone and go to.system/etc and just paste it there and select yes if it asks u to overwrite something.
Finally find the install recovery thing
you just copied and click it once and press execute.
Then your done.
How to test if it worked. Before u do the tweak download speed test from the market and test your current wifi speed. After tweak test it again. Note it may require a reboot.
Get it here. http://www.datafilehost.com/get.php?file=a18d42a6

you do realize that overwriting install-recovery.sh will overwrite any other init.d scripts the person might have and also any tweaks put in there by the dev (if you are using it on any other rom than wolfbreaks)?
You shouldn't be advising people to do stuff like this without at least warning them about what they're doing.

What's up guys. I ported SFM 1.2 over to our 32B devices.
Requirements:
1. Any SPL
2. 96MB+ Swap
3. EXT4 sdcard partition
4. cMTD 175
How to Install:
1. Download Every file from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?0mexmgvmz1vm6
2. Flash cMTD Setup and reboot
3. Flash GingerSense ROM
4. Flash farmarito's gingerbread kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/0SJ77OM4HA
5. Flash cMTD Patch
Notes:
1. Setup will take FOREVER. Do not use your phone once it boots up, let it sit for about 20 minutes.
2. In /data/tweaks you will find a bunch of settings. To make it faster, edit Minfree file and type in yes and reboot
3. In /data/tweaks edit swappiness to change the swap value. It is high, set to 85, change to anything between 1-100 if you want and then reboot. You might experience slowness or more speed. To change those settings to default, go to recovery and wipe data.
is it fully working?
like camera and BT

Hey all,
The Galaxy Nexus runs the same PowerVR SGX540 GPU our phone does.
So, I decided to spend some time doing some research and a ton of trial and error, until finally coming up with a mix between our own drivers and G'nex's drivers, that gave me the best GPU performance I could muster. I've had a jump in framerate and smoother operation, and as is the case with most tweaks, it seems to be getting better and better as the time ticks by.
Flash in CWM, or if you wish, pull the egl file from the zip and push to system/lib then reboot.
Note: The original EGL file from our phone was from Raver's Valhalla Black(So thanks white/raver), and this is still considered a work in progress.
Looking at the ZIP, it looks like the only file that is newer is the libGLES_android.so vs. what I have in my bhundven 0.1 kernel. Should I replace JUST that file perhaps?
The other lib*.so files on my phone are 1 August 2008 vs. your zip's 28 February, 2008... which seems wrong.

in the process of trying it.. I think - DL'd and flashed around 4-5 this morning
thing is, I flashed, but the files inside the egl folder still have the same dates (8-01-08)
gonna push the newer cfg and .so then test the results with the 08 files
(my quad b4 scores are a pretty consistent 2430 ~ Antutu; 2907 (Valhalla Black 1.5))
Is there any reason this would affect wifi and the market? Ran update on Valhalla Final and then I am unable to load market. When trying to log in error states unable to establish connection. When I remove the files and revert to previous state market works fine.

I am using da_g .42 with 178 script and had one sod today. I may need to try a slower setting by flashing the 172 script if it happens again. The faux 123 worked fine and it has a 172 or close to it, speed..I did not have an sod with it.

I got a message that I can't delete it because it's a read only file or something like that.

What are you using to delete. Use root explorer and make sure at top where it says mount as r/o and r/w. its r/o

Where is the "modules" folder located? May I have the file path?

OK so I believe I found the "modules" folder from the "/lib" directory.
I deleted the "modules" folder using root explorer and rebooted my skyrocket. Afterwards, I checked the directory and the "modules" folder was re-created (which I assume is the norm if I'm wrong please correct me)
I hope the SoD stops from here on in...
