So ill be getting my shiny new WIFI Xoom in the mail next week. So i need to know what you guys think the best rom/overclocking set up is? Is there a all in one Rom and OC Kernel? If so what? As soon as i get it i will be Rooting and flashing it. I want 1.5GHZ (i read that's the most stable).
Thanks Guys!!!!
p.s. i checked youtube for reviews but i could not find a whole bunch?
So i need some help. I have been reading and cant really figure this out....
Do i need to load CWM before i root or to i root then load CWM? Can someone point me to a CWM install thread?
I'm using tiamat 2.2 here with setcpu. I'm at 1200mhz, and over that it stable but the temperature is going too high for me with some gaming. Even 1700mhz is stable. Nothing crash but ill need to undervolt to use 1400mhz +, for a long time.

If you want to use a zip file for rooting, you need to flash CWM recovery 1st via fastboot and pc, so you can then flash that Universal Xoom Root Zip file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242241
You can also access the CWM solarnz v3.2.0.0 Rc recovery from that link.

Hi, a little confused on how 2 install tiamat on my uk xoom 3g.
Basically I followed this guide and rooted my xoom, i flashed using the boot the op listed. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049901
Ok, now I am looking at tiamat 1.4.1 and it mentions tiamat boot files and tiamat kernels.
My question is this, can I just install tiamat 1.4.1 kernel using CWM on an SDcard, will it work with the boot file i flashed on the site listed above or do I need to flash a tiamat boot file and will this be compatable with the UK 3G XOOM
So confusing.
Anyone please help. Thank you

Use this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978013
Download the kernel of your choice and one of the two boot images for Verizon 3G. Reports in the thread say it works just fine for Euro 3G as well.
Put both the new kernel and the boot image on your external SD card. Flash the new boot image and then the new kernel in CWM, then reboot. That is all there is to it.
many thanks thats helped quite a bit, one more thing though, it says boot image is for android 3.1 only, the uk xooms have 3.0.1.
I am looking here http://bigrushmods.com/tiamat.html
to download kernel 1.4.2
and then i just download the 3g boot image below it?
Thank!!!

Ah...yes you would need to upgrade to 3.1 first. Either use one of the methods found in the forum (such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089695) or wait until the Euro upgrade reaches the UK.
Ok, so there is not way I can get taimat on 3.0.1? I have read and people have done this. Just need to find how.
So if I flash just the kernel without the tiamat boot file will that work? Its rooted and unlocked.
:S
sorry for all the questions, just this is so confusing for a new user.
Cheers mate much appreciated

No the kernel is for 3.1. You will need to upgrade to 3.1 first, one way or another.

That version will work on 3.0.1.
So can I flash that version of kernel without the taimat boot file?
Or is there a version of boot file that works on the 3.0.1.
Thanks for helping clearing this up for me.

On the Xoom forum search for tiamat 1.3.1 and follow the instructions for flashing it. That will give you SD support and overclocking with android 3.0.1.
Then if you wish to, flash tiamat 1.4.1 according to instructions on zoom forum.
No new boot image is needed for either, it appears.

Right, i tried flashing the 1.3.1 taimat as suggested and it locked up at dual core screen again.
So i took a stab in the dark and went straight to install the 1.4.1 from micro sd and its working fine, wifi, 3g and its overclocked.
thanks for your help
Sorry to jump into this thread at such a late stage. I have a similar issue in that when I flash the boot.img for the Tiamat 1.3.1 rom, I get stuck at the boot screen (dual core etc).
How did you manage to install 1.4.1 from the micro sd if you are running a kernel that does have sd support yet? What steps did you take?
Thanks

Will try and help here from what i remember.
First follow these instructions to get it working again >
Download his boot and flash - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049901
I then downloaded and flashed clockworkmod.
I then put an sd card in my pc, put the tiamat 1.4.1 file on it, booted into clockworkmod recovery mode and then simply selected the sd card installed the tiamat from there.
Thats the basics of it and to my suprise it worked.
Hope this helps a little, just research clockworkmod and how to install etc.
I found the easiest way was to go to the AU 3.1 first, then root and clockworkmod it, then go to tiamat 1.1 then finally 2.0, then the 2.0.1 update for maps. went very smoothly.
Lordao
I took a guess yesterday and went for it. I ended up using the boot.img from the Tiamat 1.4.0 package. My xoom was happy with this and didn't get stuck at the bootloader screen. Then I installed the rest of the 1.3.1 Rom, then upgraded to 1.4.1. So I am all good on 1.41.
However I'm thinking about applying the 3.1 upgrade and then trying a newer tiamat kernel.
EDIT - I did end up using clockwork recovery. That thing is awesome.
Before I flash a custom ROM onto my untouched Xoom UK Wi-Fi only how do I backup its current state? At the moment it is on stock 3.1.
How do I flash a custom recovery such as CWM Rogue Recovery v1.1.1 or ClockworkMod 3.2.0.0? Can I just install clockworkmod from the market and flash it from there or does it have to be flashed via fastboot?
Which is the best 3.2 ROM at the moment which has overclocking enabled?
P.S. I've already read many threads and have an idea what to do next but I just want to make sure before I do anything!
Thanks!

By the way, I really love the configuration in my signature. I love everything that Team Tiamat has done, to date. And they are terrific, helpful guys. The Team Rogue are great too, just going in a little different direction, but their kernel works with the Tiamat Rom, in otherwords, they all cooperate and we win.
I want to leave my phone the way it is but have it rooted. I did it once before but lost the .tar file. Can anybody help with the tar file? I do not want to flash any roms. Thank you

all you have to do is odin CWM (it'll be one time use anyway without a custom kernel so no worries), boot into it and flash this superuser package then you're done

You'll keep root, but the stock kernel will overwrite CMW with stock recovery on boot. Check this thread because it has links to CMW, and also links to Odin and instructions on how to use it.

Yep.
Did this very thing with the Boss Lady's Charge Friday evening.
I had told her I was going to root her Charge over the weekend (and update my DINC to stock Ginberbread). We had already installed Ti Backup and Root Explorer and they, of course, could not run without root.
Friday evening I asked for her phone. Remembering how involved rooting our DINCs was, she gave me her phone while also giving me The Look (tm).
When I handed her phone back three minutes later, she asked "So, when are you going to root it?" I told her to start up Root Explorer. Surprise! Boss Lady is pleased!
She is even more pleased that, other than being rooted, her Charge is bone stock.
EDIT: Figured it out
Help,
I installed a wrong oc kernal and my tablet is messed up now it keeps rebooting and when it reboots a ton of lines of color i can get it into recovery But THATS it.
I backed it up, but restoring it does nothing...
need help
Wiping everything as well does nothing
if you can get into recovery you could try the superwipe app from revolution rom thread. i just used it yesterday after having problems and i could reflash my backup fresh and revolver rom fresh like brand new. it wipes everything but recovery.
Is your TF101 SBKv1 or SBKv2 ?
Take a look at your serial number, if its below B70 then your TF is SBKv1.
If it is, you can use NVFlash to flash a new ROM, Recovery, kernel and whatever (more info here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123429)
If it's not, well can you access ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) ? You can flash an other kernel with that.
If you're SBKv2 and with no need to access CWM Recovery, I think (not sure though) your tablet's done.
it is a b80 and i am ABLE TO GET INTO CWM recovery...

Since you can't boot your TF up, revolver part is not gonna do you any good.
Here's his repository
http://www.gnufabio.com/revolver/dls/
You could try what neofreak01 stated above also
If you can get to recovery, just flash the stock (non-oc) kernel. Reset your oc settings and then reflash the oc kernel.

Hey so i own a rezound and have that rooted and my friend was wondering if i could help him root his charge - so i know what im doing mostly but the charge process is ... a bit more difficult/diffrent than the rezound
The rezound was easy:
Use the htc dev unlock for bootloader access
Use fastboot to install recovery
download rom and flash in recovery
then flash kernel in fastboot
back to the charge
He has all the updates including the newest radio (fp1) and it has always been stock
What do i need to do to get clockwork on it and have it stick?
How does Odin work?
What's the process on it to flash a recovery?
and the process for a rom?
Can you write out a quick what you need to do not step by step but possibly link to a detailed guide for each main step?
like say first you need to get odin then do this and that and link to places showing me how to do this and that!
!!!I wish i could give out more thanks!!!

Yes, in Odin ONLY use pda, if not you going to brick your phone.
yes, in cwm, if you talking about odin, you just uncheck or check reboot option.
Since the new software just released by Verizon which is FP1 for the charge, there are 2. They are Eclipse, which already release version 2.0 and we still waiting for Tweakstock. Don't bother to use anything else otherwise you will travel back in time. Do me a favor, next time when you ask a question, please make it clear so we can provide a more accurate answer.
Here's a thread that should answer any lingering questions you have about odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160580

Make superuser is installed in your applist. If it isn't you can download it from play store.
As per your second question. If your running factory fp1, you can download eclipse fp1 build 3.
- Reboot into CWM Recovery
- Mount data, system, and sdcard
- Wipe Cache
- Wipe Dalvik cache under advanced menu
- You may have to remount
- Install Eclipse from Sdcard.
Done. You don't extract the zip files. CWM flashes the zip files as is. Only reason to extract is if you plan on editing the files which isn't your case. Hope this helps and let me know if this works for you.

You just need to install busybox. Use the busybox installer by jrummy from the market and that will fix your problems with the apps. As for installing a rom, just place the rom on the sdcard, wipe data, cache, and dalvik, mount system, and flash the rom zip.

If it works without the data wipe then go for it. I've always considered the 2 minutes it takes to restore apps worth knowing I got a clean install. But a data wipe is generally a good idea.

Hey thanks guys i was just wondering if you needed odin to flash a rom.
I figured it out, no you don't haha.
Now that i have a non stock rom and kernel Clockwork will stick right?
I flashed the ROM right after i flashed Odin no reboots, etc.
Yeah i just flashed a new ROM in; I didn't get busy box.
The new ROM should have busy box in it correct?
I wiped before flashing. (I've been trained) haha XD
Thanks so much i hope i made android a better experience for my friend and thank you guys for helping me do that!

Are you putting the battery back in after going into download mode? If not, you should. It helps the phone maintain stability during the flashing process.
What is the point of taking the battery out in the first place? I never take it out and have no problem getting into dl mode.

getting the phone into DL can be tricky sometimes - so a muhc easier method is to take the battery out, connect the phone to the computer, then press the volume down button - and you're instantly in download mode. however, the ODIN process will not take unless you put the battery back in.
just an alternative method, no biggie.
