screen issues.... - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i just got my nexus s a week ago, and i've noticed some spots on the screen that do not come off.. (since about the 3rd day i had it).
the most noticable area is on the right side. it's looks like a rectangle about a half cm wide and half the length of the screen. whatever i do it just WONT COME OFF!! also, if a breath on it, the rest of the screen fogs up except that area.
do you think it's worth asking for an exchange? it doesn't affect the actual screen itself, it just bothers me when i see it. and when i swipe my fingers, the part i swiped turns up as a gray streak, but the 'permanent rectangle' looks the same. no smudges on it. there's also two other tiny dots as well...

Problems with TP Screen

Hi guys,
About 3 weeks ago I noticed that in certain light, I could see a grid of dots, starting from 5mm from each side of the screen. These dots were arranged in some a regular pattern, so I assummed it was screen sensors, that I had not see before.
However last week, I noticed this same area was now becoming strangely colored. Its difficult to explain, but viewing the screen at an angle or in certain light, that area of the screen looks like the screens plama is leaking. Its similar to if you put a drop of clear oil between the screen protector and the screen itself. This is definatly occuring on the internal part of the screen. So im going to call up HTC this week, and if they request me to send it back, do I need to un-hard-spl the phone? If so how do I do this?
Thanks
I had similar issue with my old Himalaya in the past. It seems like an oil spot between surfaces under specific angle. Now I have another problem with screen on my Rafi-Some blue 'clouds' visible all the time after accident with my car(I lost my phone with case on the parking place and someone-maybe me also drove very closely around it,so the device is just a little bit damaged, but not so much).
I have same problem on my Touch Pro, but my seller say to me this fabrication problem...not important problem...but its very distrubity

I faced this problem in Touch dual before, and the screen was replaced in warranty.
now i've the same in my TP, but this time it clearly decreased the touch screen sensitivity...
i'd say go for replacement.
I encountered the newton's ring problem-term given to me by a HTC staff. I got the handset from O2 but they seemed clueless about this. The problem is that it disappears and then re-appears randomly. Third time I have seen it. I have also encountered the 'oil spill' effect under specific lighting. I can't see it anymore though.
Will drop into an O2 shop asap.

my Fuze has this oil spill effect too.. going to try to put it in a bag of desiccant overnight to see if its just moisture

Strange Problem with my Screen

This is a physical problem, the screen works fine and has no distortion as far as what it looks like when its on. But I noticed this weekend that when it was off I noticed a like triangular section in the middle of the screen, where it has a rainbow-ish discoloration pattern and small dots in the middle of the screen, about 1/4 of a inch inward all the way around the display part of the screen. The dots are in a perfect grid-like format and the rainbow color distortion almost looks like an oil slick.
I have had the factory screen protector on it since day one, I peeled it back today only to find its on the screen itself, I tried to wipe it off and nothing. I always carry the phone in a belt clip and never in my pocket, etc. So I don't know how it could have gotten damaged or how damage could cause such a curios perfect pattern of strangeness on the screen.
Anyone else ever seen this happen?
well i have heard its damage from high pressure... the touch layer in the screen gets damaged some how and leaves an oil looking spot... sorry but here is a good thread on what i think your seeing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428749&highlight=spot+screen
Oh wow/crap its times like this when I guess I'm glad I'm not a regular consumer but have this through work, so I'm sure they will replace it, if not they will buy me another. Should I even get another or is there something like this but better? I'm with ATT.
If you want a windows mobile powerhouse stay with the fuze... for sure... i have had mine since november when they first came out for at&t and mine runs and looks great... no screen problems or anything... ya and good thing its through your company

Screen not responding

Hey all, been having my touch pro for about a year and a half and it has been great so far. Up till today, when I was at work, i noticed this little blue dot on my screen, thought it was nothing and ignored it. The phone was working fine till about few minutes later, when I checked on it the screen just wouldn't respond. Note that everything else works, the buttons and keyboard work, the home clock keeps ticking, but yet the screen just would not do anything. However when the backlight dims (due to inactivity) and when i touch the screen, it goes back to full brightness (the usual) which means that it is still working. So what's going on and how would I go about fixing this?
It's possible something is pressing down on the screen continuously, do you have any snap on cases? Also, this blue dot, how big is it, and what is its shape? Is it a dead pixle? Perhaps the point of impact something hit the screen at to disable it's functionality. Have you tried a hard reset?
So an update to my situation. Can confirm that this is 100% not a software problem, but a hardware one. No cases on the phone, just a screen protector. The blue dot, more like blue patch has now become bigger. :S
When the screen is turned off, it looks like a patch of blue underneath the screen, and on a white background that patch is very white and bright.
I then removed my screen protector to see if it's just some ink stuck in there as I was getting quite desperate. The blue patch was still there, and is underneath the screen. I grabbed the screen protector and decided to use the sticky side of it to sort of remove the adhesive glue that was on the screen and voila, the blue patch dissapeared. And the screen was again useable.. But when I however press on the affected area, it will filled with the blue patch once again. I can redo this process a million time, but afterall, the phone is still not useable as a slight touch on the area and the screen will no be useable.
Any thoughts?
Sounds like the top layer of your screen is just worn out. The best fix is to replace it most likely. You could try using another screen protector or two to stiffen the top layer and see if that fixes it, but you'd probably lose sensitivity. That spot is caused because the film of oil between the top and bottom layer is non existant at that point, and both the top and bottom layers are literally stuck together. I believe the oil is suppose to prevent this.

Bottom screen corners dim

I did a search for this issue and could not find anything...
About a couple months ago, the bottom right and bottom left hand corners of the screen will taking turns going dim as if the settings for the screen brightness were changed just for the bottom corners. I know of the light bleed issue, but apparently i'm having the opposite effect. At first, i thought maybe it was a software issue and have done a full wipe and flashed different roms and i'm still experiencing this issue since then. For ****s and giggles, I tapped on the corner of the screen and the dimness went away. The dimness comes back eventually. I am tapping on the corner of the screen about as hard as a light knock. If you knock it enough times, it will begin to flicker a little bit. Obviously, this is a hardware issue. My TF has not been dropped, damaged, liquid spilled on, etc. Was wondering if anyone has experienced this before, and if there is anything i can do short of doing a warranty return?

symmetrical lines all across glass?

i got my tf300 in the mail today and opened it and everything looks to be completely unmolested.
however if it's off and i get the light shining on it just right, i see diagonal lines on the screen that form perfectly symmetrical squares all across the screen. i seriously touched the screen twice since taking it out of the box, so it's nothing i did. i can't take a picture of it either, it doesn't show up. it is subtle but absolutely noticeable.
can anyone else look at theirs and tell me if i'm crazy? i mean i don't know what else it could be if it isn't part of the glass. the lines are way too perfect to be some kind of accident.
btw, can't feel them or anything, they look like light marks...tried to wipe them off with the cleaning cloth to no avail.
It is part of the screen, I assume it is part of the digitizer (or whatever you want to call it for capacitive touch screen sensor).
It only is visible on certain angles, not always.
yep, they're there all right. they actually look pretty cool. i don't think asus would put them there if they didn't have a good reason, you can't see them most of the time anyway so it's all good.
