[Q] Which smartphone would suit me best? - General Questions and Answers

Hi everyone,
I'm well aware that there are millions of similar topics here, but at least I know exactly what I want, I'm just not sure which smartphones have that. I would appreciate very much if you could help me.
I currently have Samsung i900 Omnia with Windows Mobile 6.1 and I must say that I'm very satisfied with the device. It's in my hands 24/7 and since it's around two years old now and I really use it to its maximum, you can imagine that it's pretty worn-out and I'm looking for a replacement.
This is what I would like to have on my new smartphone:
- It has to be touchscreen (high-quality and optionally multi-touch), keyboard is not necessary, would be great if it had finger mouse.
- OS: I like WinMo, but I would now like to switch to Android 2 (is that the latest one?) if there are not much issues with this OS, otherwise please tell me.
- It has to be fast for surfing the Internet (fast WLAN and at least 3G, 4G not important at all) and support Flash and Java. Surfing the Internet is what I do most and I really want it to be very fast and the more desktop-like the better.
- I also want the device itself to be very fast so that it doesn't freeze if I'm really not pushing it. Dual-core processor would be great, but I guess I could be satisfied with something else as well.
Other things are less important. 5MP camera is fine, anything better is just a plus. Would like a nice screen with good resolution and colors, but no need for 3D and stuff. Bluetooth and other common things are always present anyway.
Just give me the names
Thanks a lot!

I would recommend:
-Samsung Galaxy S II
-Motorola Atrix
-HTC Desire HD
-LG Optimus 2x
-Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo/Arc (take your pick)
-Google Nexus Prime (when it's released)
These are all Android phones .
Forever living in my Galaxy Ace using XDA App

Cheap alternative LG Marquee very fast yet affordable

Thanks guys, I think I'll go for SGS2.

Yes.

Why switch to an inferior fragmented and potentially malware riddled o/s?

IE9 with HTML5 support.

Definately need Windows Phone7.5 then.

HTC Titan with 8mp camera running Mango (Windows Phone 7.5) or wait until
Nokia release.

Umm, yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll go for SGS2.
But what I like to do before buying any games, laptops, tablets, phones, etc. is to visit Google and search "[device name] problems". Aside from some random issues here and there, it seems that there's a whole galaxy (pun intended) of people experiencing all sorts of wi-fi problems, especially with signal strength.
Wi-fi is very important to me. Since I was planing to buy my new smartphone in no less then a month anyway, I'll wait and see if Samsung releases a fix to these issues. If it doesn't, I'll probably buy something else.

I recommend you of course an Android phone. From my point of view they are on the top of the mountain now.
And models ...

Samsung Galaxy S 2
HTC Desire S
If you want a cheaper one:
Samsung Galaxy S SCL
HTC Wildfire S

What Phone should i get?

Hi,
I am currently an owner of a LG KS20(aka Corona) and i'm deciding to go for a new phone in the next 6 months. These are the minimal conditions the phone should have:
(Higher is more important) Like it should have 3.5mm jack, but Touchscreen is more important
-Touchscreen
-Wifi
-A shell like Sense or the Android screen
-Activesync through Wifi or 3G
-3.5mm Jack
-Speed(Currently a 400Mhz MSM7200 under WM6.5 and sometimes it's slow like crap.)
-Camera >3.2MP
-Bluetooth
-GPS would be nice, not really necessary(Does somebody know some good navigation programs that doesnt need an internet-connection?)
This is a list of the OS that is should be running, Higher is better
-Android
-WM
-Iphone OS
Some info 'bout me
-Hacking and modding is the name, i changed from WM6 to 6.5, other titanium Themes etc etc.
And last but not least, a couple of phones i've been thinking of.
Nexus one, Iphone 4,HD2,HD mini,Vodafone H1
Could you guys give some info on the pro's and Con's of the Android, WM, and Iphone Platform and some feedback on the listed phones?
That would be Swell
PS: When is the release-date of WM7 for Europe/the Netherlands? Are there other release-dates i should wait for?
Almost forgot ALL of the HTC Android phones are in the race...
If you have an other proposition, please name it
I'm currently eyeing the HTC Desire. Seems the most perfect phone out there. I'm just waiting to see if more information about the HTC Vision comes out.

Same here for HTC Desire. Not expensive compared to the others like SE X10 or Samsung Galaxy S. Has currently the best OS + Sense, and has almost everything I need (fits also your requirements above).
i see that the Desire has a 'optical trackball' what is it? Also, how is the Wifi experience?? with my KS20, connecting to a Accespoint is taking me over a minute. It sees the AP rightaway, but then is connects in 10sec., but that is very rare. Most of the time keeps connecting and if you don't do anything it will keep doing so until the battery has run out(so it cant connect, keeps connecting) and then you have to select an accespoint, cant connects and fails after 10sec, THEN you can select the desired AP and after 30sec. its finally connected to the internet.
Is the Musicplayer on android/Desire intuitive? easy to use like in the iPhone/iTouch?
Get anything HTC...I favor the Android Nexus One!
I find a phone ,it may meet your demands.
in the website everbuying.com.it may meet your demands.
If you dont want any headache get the Desire or HD2 because they are really fast (Desire a bit faster because of the OS, but i like WindowsMobile much more). Or the HTC EVO 4G...
You know what Iphone is just the best phone for your all requirments..
Try the 4th generation it is simply the awesome phone..
HTC Desire ticks all the boxes but if your not looking to upgrade for another 6 months then im sure something better will be along by then
Galaxy S, pretty much kicks ass every other Android phone on the market.
1Ghz Humminbird (faster than Snapdragon in HTCs) 4" super-amoled, 16gb internal memory, 512ram etc.
Go for HTC!

just don't take rhodium as orb will surely suggest hehe he's a nice guy,but i believe he's a spy for htc,he watches who won't buy a rhodium and uses his advanced mind tricks and force persuade to make the person buy one...i believe he's one of htc's dark jedis
i'm about to get a desire,i'm pretty excited i must admit...i had about 15 htc devices in my hands, and the best experience so far was with android,it's faaaar more stable than wm ever was, also it is so much more intuitive than wm devices and iphones too
legend looks neat, top of the class trim level, alu unibody, tons of goodies...also take desire in account,i believe it kicks ass
good luck
as far as 4" displays go...wouldn't it be wiser to buy a tablet...who the hell needs that big screen in his pocket

Is it this one F910 WCDMA 3G Single Card Android 1.6 Wifi Java GPS Touch Screen Smart Phone
I found from everbuying, but it a little expensive.
I would get the HD2 or wait until the Fall when all the new Windows Phone 7 models come out. The HD2 is really cheap if you sign a contract.

Should my dad go for N8?

Hey guys, my dad is looking for a new phone. He currently has a 3 year old HTC Herald(A beaten up, broken touch screen, piece of ****) and seriously wants to have a replacement. He loves photography(Always tries to learn new things about his DSLR and improves his photography) so wants a phone that has a good camera. He wants a nice capacitive touch screen with e-mail(G-mail push) and facebook integration and GPS(With maps as well as map tracking) and perhaps some decent time-killer games. Nokia N8 costs about 22-24k INR here and sounds perfect for his needs, his other opinion was Dell Streak but it is about 34k INR plus its future of having gingerbread seems weak. Desire HD/Z are not available here plus they might be quite expensive when they make it here. I got a Desire and he doesn't want to have the same phone(Not that he found it to be bad, but he doesn't want to copy anyone. Plus camera on Desire is something he doesn't like(Not that I do)).
What do you think?
This is a matter of preference and I cant say much about the actual phone BUT after using android symbian just doesn't cut it anymore. But again this is only my opinion.
Agree with Daml...if you want to have also a GPS and maps, what is better than Android? I would stick with google OS instead of Symbian...
My GF has the N97 mini & was looking at N8 as hates the N97s Horrid UI, unfortunatly N8 is not a lot better.
Trying to move her to Android as far better OS than Nokia's bodged efforts at making Symbian touch friendly.
WM5 was better than OS on her N97 mini.
the n8 is a brick.
i played with thae phone. Symbian is wack in my opinion.
Well what would you guys suggest?
My wife has the N8. She likes it. It seems like a solid phone and hasn't given her any problems. Battery life is average, nowhere near her old phone, E71. She chose the N8 because of the ease of migration and the familiarity and she wanted a great camera. I forget where I read it, but the tagline was Nokia made a great camera with cell phone capabilities. It seems to be true. The Ovi Store and Ovi Maps are pretty good.
I can't directly compare with Android though. I prefer winmo and only boot to android for specific tasks or some game play.
Found migration using the Nokia transfer a long way from perfect.
The camera & build are only plus points, OS is simply a pathetic effort for aimed market & price.
Don't ask people on XDA about a Nokia device. You will only get troll and false answers. The only minus about the N8 is the application selection. Buy one to open the eyes of developers.
Seems like this post has been here for almost 2 weeks now so not sure if u have bought ur dad his phone yet.
However, i would disagree with the comments of people above me.
1) What is so bad about symbian^3? i agree that symbian1 sucked due to the inconsistent one and two touch to enter thing but symbian 3 has no such problems at all.
2) n8 offers alot more than just a 12Mp camera! It records in 720p HD, has active noice cancellation.
3) What other phones has a HDMI output? after taking pictures u can even just hook the phone up to a tv
4) I agree that there arent that many games yet, but it already has more than 10 HD games already so far and it's only been about 2 months. EA games are even backing the n8 symbian 3 by creating HD games for them!
hmm what else, i guess it does sell itself with the casing etc. I blive the top andriod atm is samsung galaxy s? The screen is nice indeed, but it has no flash and only 5mp camera, so night pictures are totally out of the picture. but yea try it before buying it! It's a really good phone i reckon, love the GPS on it too. oh and also not to mention the photo editing software that it comes with!

oh and btw, i migrated from my n86 to n8 without any problems. All my stuff got transfered over perfectly!
Yeh files migrated after afew attempts but sms dates are changed to date of the transfer which is a bit pathetic.
Had an issue with Thai font turning to squares after transfer, not good as both Nokia devices are Asian market & support Asian fonts so the transfer software appears to have an issue with this !
More customization of transfer options would be good too.
For price & Nokias long running in mobile market I would expect a lot more, the OS is about 3 years behind the compition ! My old WM2003se HTC Magician with Resco Photo Viewer makes an N97 mini photo viewer look completely pathetic, put it next to an iphone or WM6.5.3 OS & it looks like a 1st year students software project.
I'm not a nokia/symbian fan BUT, according with your dad's purposes, i think the N8 sounds exactly like the phone you're looking for.

will the uma app below work on the NOKIA N8 does any one know .I am thinking of buying one ..thanks
"T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling app has finally been hacked to work on Google Nexus One. If you are a Nexus One owner on T-Mobile, then you can install this hacked app and make Wi-Fi calls without any pertinent issues. However the installation instructions of this hack are still a bit of a task for novices, as it requires you to flash kernels and libraries before planting the APK file. "

I have both a premium android device (mytouch 4g with froyo) and N8. Although it comes down to individual preference, I prefer the android device. The UI is much more user friendly and smooth, theres actually a portrait qwerty keyboard available. The widgets are also much more customisable and easier to use. Additionally, the apps make the android device much more favourable. As a medical student, I find a plethora of medical apps available on Android (almost as many as the Iphone), and even otherwise there are a lot more apps available to make it feel like a true smartphone. It's also the little things that matter, such as the fact that the Android phone automatically syncs your contacts with facebook and twitter profiles of your friends, whereas the N8 does not appear to have this capability.
Admittedly the N8 feels like a lot more sturdy device (has gorilla glass and aluminised body), but I got it largely because of the availability of Ovi Maps (although I like Google Maps, I don't like the idea of needing a data connection everytime I go outside and need it). One other thing is that the N8 is a pentaband 3g device, meaning it would work on 3g networks in virtually every country and with every provider, although to my knowledge there is no such android device. This would be esp useful if you travel a lot (like me). This is something I personally think the people at Nokia should have actually bothered to mention when marketing the device. I mainly keep the N8 to listen to music, and for when I go overseas, but it is not my main device.
Overall, I'd definitely say go with the android device (esp. as the mytouch 4g is a great device).
it's up to you , but i think HTC is better!
Not in the camera department. If you want a camera phone look at samsung, nokia or sony's selection.

Iphone 4 n Htc evo

Hi evrybody I'm a new user in this forum and I'm in a conflict that hope you guys could resolve with your knowlegde. I'm actually writing this thread with my Palm treo 750, I hope that this is the right spot for this thread cause I've been reading a lot of post in many forums and websites but I've got my self just more confused of what to do. Ok I've just brought this smartphone for my distantance and pocket connectivity esigence, I was new in the smartphone world and I found my self mistaken about evrythings. I wish to traw this phone in the bin rightnow. It's making me crazy! Costantly freezing and doesn't do what i need it to do. I need a smartphone that could give me video call via 3g or 4g with VoIP and single VoIP call, flash support (for flash website) and java support (always for the same reason), make fb and msn chat streaming video and music, writing and making photos/videos. I hate when my phone freeze without any apparently reason or lag cause I'm listening music and using internet in the same moment, plus my battery life is about 3 hours. I've been looking in internet and at the end I've arrived to the point that I have to decide betwen Htc evo and Iphone 4. I've tried Iphone 3 and I didn't like it at all, I hate the soft keyboard and the OS doesn't support flash. I've never tried htc evo but I know that andoid is awesome and support flash (I don't kow about java) both have soft keyboard but both have even hard keyboars with witch i can upgrade my phone with (so keyborad will not gonna be a problem) both OS have a lot of free and pay apps they are very versatile. I'm not so confortable with the fingertouch os but I can buy stylus for both mobile. The screen and the camera in the evo are better then the Iphone, and android it's really easy to use (for what I've seen on m.youtube cause I can't see normal youtube) instead of the iphone OS (witch I've found a bit tricky). The iphone have no expandible memory card, (evo does) and (if I'm not wrong) you can tweak android a lot more (and with less problem) than the iphone. So... I've got a calderon of confiuson in my head right now and I need some clarification because maybe what I'm saying is not correct and for sure most of you guys know more than me about. Plus this is just correlated througth my esigence, cause at the end a smartphone it's strictly related of what you want to do with that. Cheers guy, I'm sorry for the large thread but I wanted to be the most possibly clear. I thanks already you guys for this wonderful forum (that I've been using a LOT) and for the one's of you that gonna gimme suggest about.

I own both phones. I'd personally recommend the iPhone 4 over the EVO 4G. The display on the iPhone 4 is actually better: higher resolution, better colors, better viewing angles - the EVO's display is only bigger. The camera (both front and back) on the iPhone 4 is also better: it's 5MP but has a better sensor which leads to better quality stills and 720p video. The EVO also has a severely gimped/old GPU and while the iPhone 4's GPU is not cutting edge it's still a lot better in day to day use. Overall both phones have similar hardware features but just about everything on the iPhone 4 performs better - I wont get into software since that's more opinion/preference based.
With that said, I wouldn't recommend either for you. You seem to like Android (and it is a good OS) so with that in mind I'd recommend either a Nexus S (the best Android phone out IMO + VOIP is integrated into 2.3 which is only currently/officially available on the NS and may never land on the EVO), G2 (if you like hardware keyboards), or a MT4G (if you just want really beefy specs).
Cheers! Appriciate the anwser! I actually don't know about the OS maybe i could just get my self used to it. cause I've read that it have skype with video call (and that's one of the most important things). I'll like to try that nexsus that u was talkin bout. thank you! the nexsus seems the phone that i was looking at, but no programs till now support the front facing camera for video call..

[Q] Nexus S or Galaxy S?

Hi dear,
I'm going to get Galaxy S or Nexus S next week for myself and my gf(my gf's birthday is coming so I'm gonna sell my white iphone 4...)
Btw, I'm on the middle of the road.
I enjoy the internet browsing with my phone and watch youtube quite often. Also, I do video chat with my parent via skype.
But I saw on Nexus S the internet browsing is not as smooth as on galaxy s.
How is the performance on both devices?
and I read that galaxy s also have got 2.3.4 so now skype is working with video call. That is, Nexus S is not only the device can do video call via skype.
Please give me an advice guys! hope i'll hear many advice from here
First of all, I got to say that I only have the Nexus S, and not the Galaxy S, just like most of the people on this forum. That's why my opinion may be biased.
From what I've heard, the Nexus S is certainly smoother than the Galaxy S, mainly because there is no Touchwiz. The internet browsing on the Nexus S is indeed not perfect (on the standard browser that is), but I believe that's a problem of most of the Android devices. Tip: download a new browser from the market. Opera and Miren Browser are one of the fastest.
If you are going to use Google Services like Youtube much, then I recommend the Nexus S, since you'll be sure to get updates from Google for a long time.
As for Skype, I don't see a reason why it would work better on the Nexus S than on the Galaxy S, or the other way around. I wouldn't use Skype anyway, the application is far from perfect (your battery will drain like there's no tomorrow, although there are certain apps that prevent that).
In my eyes, the Nexus S is basically a better Galaxy S. Faster, slicker design and faster updates. Oh, one thing that may be important to you: the Nexus S doesn't have FM radio. The Galaxy S does. You'll have to rely on internet radio on the Nexus S.
I hope I wasn't too biased!

I hope I wasn't too biased!

no no no you are not biased at all. Very objective
hm.. that's one thing I've concerned.. update directly from Google as it's the reference phone! alright. I'll think about it again.
But how is the opera web browser? is it working well? I want to see how smooth it is!

The opera web browser adds lots of functionality (like tabs, still can't believe the stock browser doesn't have that) and has (sort of) proven to be the fastest.
One more thing in favor of the Nexus S: it's easier to root and install custom ROMs, which will make it even faster. I don't know if you are interested in that, but since you already are on XDA, I figured that might be important to you.

Oh, cool. Yeah I'd like to try some custom roms.
But one problem is when I asked my gf which one looks better, she said galaxy s
I think she likes more iphone-like a phone.

Time to get a new girl friend
you probably should take a nexus to you and a galaxy to your girlfriend. =o)
in my opinion, nexus is best than galaxy, except for browser, stock browser in nexus is really bad (some web pages are impossible to use), specially when you use opera browser and see how smooth it can be (that's the point you say 'wtf, what's wrong with stock one?')
I just happen to have both on my desk. The Samsung Galaxy S is my personal Phone and the Nexus S is my development Phone (I got a Milestone and a Galaxy Tab too).
What I like about Galaxy S:
Slightly thinner than Nexus S. Not much but I notice it.
MicroSD card slot. Missing in Nexus S
FM Radio.
Touchwiz notification area icons. IMHO a better place than a widget to quick access to power controls (and besides it has the very useful orientation locking button not present in default power controls widget).
Hardware home button. More comfortable to get screen back on rather than using power button all the time (the only choice on Nexus S).
What I like about Nexus S:
NFC. Interesting in my case for work but not very useful at present due to lack of support/information (need card emulation mode)
Development. You always get up-to-date versions of Android first (from Google) and development is less hassle than on other phones (rom building/flashing directly supported with standard Google tools). No mess with bootloaders, propietary flashing programs (Odin for Galaxy S) and no need to go with unofficial sources such as Cyanogen (Samsung S not yet supported, it will be from next version 7.1).
Camera flash. I miss it sometimes on my Galaxy S.
My personal choice. For everyday use I prefer my Galaxy S. For pure development or just to be always up-to-date Nexus S.
Note: Some people are discussing about software. You must take into consideration that hardware is almost the same in both models. I have not noticed noticeable performance differences. Nonetheless I have not used the Nexus S very much yet. I do have experienced performance improvements on my Galaxy S upgrading to new firmwares. Currently I have installed "F1 Series V6" which is a little modification over stock 2.3.4 GB Samsung firmware. It works great and my Quadrant score is around 2000. My advice is software can be changed/improved after you purchase your phone. Hardware can't. So choosing a phone based on my XXXX app run a little bit smother on this phone with firmware YYYY is not a wise decision, because those measurements are not very accurate and can vary over time. Both phones have virtually the same hardware, so they should more or less run the applications with practically no difference in performance.
Just my 2 cents.

that's quite oposite from what i think about it, today i make my decisions looking for software, it could make a crappy phone works nice and a 'dream' phone a hell (like atrix, to me), sure you can always tweak to get it better and when everything is great, Google releases a new android and the cycle starts again: new roms, new kernels and "when, where, why" start to pop in general forum. It's just not fun anymore (for me).
The thing is: I flashed all roms and all kernels from dev section in my nexus and couldn't find anything even close to stock setup. Nexus stock is just solid (despite lack of some good features).
i think chasing hard specs is not a wise decision anymore (besides, it's a endless chase), if you need a sd card slot, or fm radio, or HD camera, you should go with sgs. if you don't care about it and want a device that just works as soon as you get it out of the box, so... =o)
to resume, that is exactly what i think: http://thisismynext.com/2011/05/30/coming-nexus-s/
sorry for my engrish! =o)
The only reason why browsing on the Galaxy S is smoother is because it uses hardware acceleration. And another browser to worth mentioning in that list would be Dolphin Browser HD. It's a very smooth browser.
I came from a Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) to a Nexus S for its developmental purposes. Some may argue that there are not many ROMs. But all in honesty, the ROMs coming out to the Galaxy S are mainly all based on TouchWiz. They're all the same ROM behind the hood and just appear different. Now there is CM7, so things might of changed now. But regardless, to install CM7.. you'd have to go through a long process of changing its partition type from RFS to ext4.
I still don't look back at the Galaxy S. The only feature I can primarily say that I miss are the codecs, but with DICE Player. That filled the missing part so now I'm able to watch 720p without any lag.
But yeah, +1 on Google updates. When Ice Cream Sandwich is announced later this year, the Nexus S will be one of the first phones to get it.
Galaxy S? Good luck. Samsung will be busy updating their current flagship phone, Galaxy S2. And if you're in the U.S. it'll take even longer because it'll have to go through approval with the carrier and addition of their bloat blah blah blah. the list goes on.
Update coming from Google?
Google makes update -> OTA
Update coming from Samsung in the U.S.?
Samsung makes updates -> Goes through approval process with carrier -> OTA
And with the carriers, usually multiple revisions have to satisfy the carrier before its approved.
Nexus S hands down.
I also say the nexus s. I own both galaxy s and nexus s. My vibrant is decent but the nexus s blows it out the water. U.S. phones still don't have gingerbread either and froyo on the galaxy s looks retarded. It really does, the nexus s software looks slick and sexy. The browser lag is over blown. It's not that bad at.

I own a Captivate and just bought a Nexus S today and I will give it to the NS.
Looks better, feels better, smoother and as retarded as it sounds, you feel better mentally. This is all Google and Google only. No workarounds, fixes, patches or anything to make this phone run as it should.
I could go on forever to discuss the pros (and also some cons) but they are redundant and have been discussed to death. It comes down to the Nexus S being a more refined and polished version of the Galaxy S.

Galaxy S has FM and comes with Swype (though you can get this thru beta program on NS)
Nexus S screen looked much better after the 2.3.3 update, now galaxy S screens look too blueish for me.
Both of them have voodoo sound support, so its all good!
Thanks guys!
I just wanna know which one is better between amoled or super lcd.
I live in New Zealand and here they only sell super lcd version..(GT-i9023)
I heard Super LCD version is better for battery efficiency and reading a text.

Read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921861. I once started it when I was trying to find the real difference between (Super Clear) LCD and (Super) AMOLED. The thread has tons of pictures, videos, experiences, etc. Read it through. If that's not enough (I doubt it), you can read this thread that I made on a dutch forum. You probably don't speak dutch, but you could translate it. It is a very informative thread about the difference between LCD and AMOLED. It took me a while to make, but it was worth it. Keep in mind though that there is a difference between Super LCD and Super Clear LCD. A big difference.

Nice review mate!
I just read your thread and I feel Super Clear LCD feels more like iPhoney.
I like the retina display as well as Super Amoled but for web browsing I guess Super Clear LCD is better.

The retina display is very much undersaturated, like 40 percent. Just like Super AMOLED is like 40 percent oversaturated. Super Clear LCD's colors are much more natural.

Retina display is amazing for web browsing and reading books.
is Super clear lcd like that?

Not that sharp as the retina display, although that has nothing to do with the fact that it is a retina display.
Iphone 4 resolution is higher than Nexus S resolution. And the screen of the iPhone 4 is smaller. But like I said, that has nothing to do with the fact that it is a retina display.
One thing I can say you is that whites are very easy to the eye on Super Clear LCD. With Opera or another web-browser that isn't as laggy as stock browser, you'll have a pleasant experience. True, the resolution isn't as high as the iPhones resolution, but the bigger screen also has an advantage of course.

[Q] No 2100Mhz = No 3G for me sell and buy Captivate, Please...Help me decide

HI all
I just got down a unlocked Inspire 4G and I have only Edge and GPRS for data
cause there are no operator where i live that support the 1900 Band..
I called the Shop they said they have a Captivate and a Samsung Focus and its cheaper and they will refunfd the extra
sooooo I love the Inspire they way it feels and looks...and Sense of-course
but with only 2G speeds, is it really worth to keep it.
or the practical solution is to Return it and Get a Captivate or a Focus??
Since captivate and focus supports Tri-Band 3G so i will get 3g with them 2 phones
Please lend me your thoughts to help me decide
Wow...that's a hard choice. The Inspire is the best one of them all and is a superior phone in every way. But unless you are able to use WiFi most of the time, it would be seriouly handicapped.
Keep it if you have plentiful access to WiFi. Otherwise go with the Focus. But don't expect the customization of Android or the number of apps. The Focus will be more like an iPhone for usability.
If music quality is important, go with the Captivate. It has a superior audio chip from Wolfson. The GPS, though, will be buggy.
Actually, the more I think about it, I would definitely go with the Captivate. That sweet Samsung sound quality is worth it.

How is the Samsug Focus I mean since you use the phone accroding to your SIggy
How is WINP7 im inetersted in that platform have seen it but never used it...
are there good apps for the Wp7?? Mango will be a great update

Like I said...lol...hard choice. The Focus is a sweet phone and my opinion is it is the current best WP7 phone. But WP7 severely lacks regarding features and functionality right now. WP7 is a sweet system, very smooth and elegant, and can be the best mobile OS if MS gets its act together and starts adding the needed features and takes control of the updating like they claimed they were going to in the beginning.
WP7 is, like iOS, very boring regarding customization. A WP7 phone serves a simple, very useful, purpose, which is to provide a smartphone platform that does multimedia, web and phone calls/SMS. But what you get with the WP7 phone you buy is all you get until MS changes it in an update.
I love my Focus but it sucks...just like all other WP7 phones...for music quality. And that's because of the "system-on-a-chip" architecture. There isn't a high-quality, high-end audio chip in any WP7 phone. That's why the Captivate would be the better choice for all-around usability and functionality.
The apps currently available for WP7 are nice. But there are too few of them and things like turn-by-turn voice-guided navigation don't currently exist. Mango will change that, though.
you are right captivate seems to be a good option...here
will it be like Really darn slow for Exchange sync and FB on 2g with the Inspire??
just wondering if there sia way to keep it heheee
I dont really use it for music I have a ipod 4g 64 GB for music stuff
I need to solid Smart phone with good Apps and stuff Emails
I really do Like Sense3.0 Damn it !!!

Edge is painfully slow for websites with a lot of HTML. But for text-based sites, you should be fine. And the Inspire doesn't have Sense 3.0 natively. It uses Sense 2.1 in Gingerbread. Sense 3.0 is sweet and the HTC Sensation, which uses Sense 3.0, is a fine phone.
If you can't have 3g in your area get the Captivate, save the money for these reasons:
Samsung great hardware
The Phone has a huge support library
It is hella fast over wifi (you can get up to 21mb d/l speed)
If you like sense there are couple of roms that have it
Forget the win 7 unless you are into just using the phone then it pretty good
Or keep the Inspire and forget about the costs
Get the captivate, its its a great phone, i personally havent had problems with the gps. The dev community for it is great, plus theres the chance of getting wp7 ported with all this bootloader development
Well guys
Captivate was a used one..Thata bastered tried to trick me
Focus was new and all but im not sure about WP7
im gonna stick with the Inspire
the guy said he will get Iphone4 with gevey ultra in a week and i will have to pay 40$ more for the 16GB one
i might jump ship i dunno that Gevey ultra thing really seems to work...
