there are varoius apps u can use... or u can just type #31# before the phone number this has the same effect ( some service providers charge you for this service i don't know how much but it isn't alot) for example #31#8179834598 and they will see private on their phone

okay you said various apps, can you recommend any?? as i more interested in apps, like with the wm6.5 in was built into the rom as standard.

[solved] Problem with Contacts and International Country Codes

So Ive been using my HTC Ozone (6.5 Standard, 3VO rom) for a while in israel, and the way the cellular network works is as follows:
country code is +972
the number that shows up on an incoming call is 052-555-5555.
The number that shows up on an incoming text is +972-52-555-5555.
The number that shows up on an outgoing call when dialing without the country code (aka 052-555-5555) is +972-052-555-5555.
All of these differences mean that if I have a number saved in the contact manager (in only one of the above forms), it isnt displayed 2/3rds of the time. If i send a text to ME(052-555-5555), the reply comes back from an unsaved number, in a new thread is +972-52-555-5555.
Is there a way for me to just save the base number (052-555-5555), and have the phone's contact manager realize that its the same number is the +92 equivalent? My current workround is saving all the forms of a number to a contact, but 1. its tedium to go through all my contacts and do this, and 2. you can only save so many numbers to a contact, which means im screwed if the contact has two different numbers.
I see all these fields in the "current country" setting, but I have no idea what they mean, or if that is even the solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hey , i got the same problem on my Omnia 2 with windows mobile version 6.5
The local incoming call won't show the country code, and sms does the opposite way.
check through all my phone setting, can not find any related option for this.
Thanks for anyone can provide a resolution.
i just resolved my problem. hope this way can help you as well.
get a regedit software on your windows mobile phone.
go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Phone
under it, you should able to see a key name "CallIdMatch", change the value to maybe 8 or 9, which means it will match the last 8 or 9 numbers for each incoming call or sms. (use decimal) after the changing, reboot your phone.
Wow, it worked!!
Thanks a lot man!
thanks for the tip jason_ma!
i was also wondering about it.
Anyone know how to edit CalIidMatch an an HTC hero

[Q] Possible problem with how Android handles Phone Dialing Codes (i.e. *82)??

Hi All
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere or fixed, I couldn't find anything that covered this exact problem hence the post.
Also apologies in advance, this is gonna be a little long...
A little History:
====
I use my cell phone for both work and personal since I own my own business. I really hated having clients or potential clients knowing my direct cell phone number when calling them.
While I could program all of them into my cell with a *82 in front to block the caller id, I decided to go the other way so I wouldn't have to remember to do it on manually dialed calls.
Thus at my request, AT&T several years ago changed my network ANI default setting from "Allowed" to "Blocked" meaning by default, my caller id info is blocked when I dial, unless I put *82 in front of the number to override.
People in my phone book that I wanted my number unblocked for, I simply put *82 in front of their stored number.
At the time I did this I had a Blackberry Curve and all worked fine. I could call _AND_ SMS/TXT/MMS as normal - important to note.
Recently I got an Atrix 4g running Android 2.2 (now rooted). All was good until I tried SMS'ing a number in my phone book. Turns out the SMS app (default android app) does not like the *82 in front of the number. Instead of recognizing *82 as a valid ANI control code and thus ignoring/passing it, it thinks it is part of the actual phone number and errors out.
So now I have to have two numbers entered into every entry in my phone book that I want to be able to SMS or call without my number being blocked by default. One entry with *82 in front of it to call them unblocked and one entry without the *82 to be able to SMS them.
Anyone have any ideas how to get around this? As I see it it's something that either Motorola or the Android developers need to fix, i.e. telling the SMS app to ignore/pass valid ANI control codes.
Thanks in advance
for me is*31 i tryed that and it works for me in cm 7.1 rc1v2 rom (latest nightly) i am invisible for the other number i text with

[Q] ICS Update works but Caller ID always shows Unknown?

Ok so I've done two flashes today and both have come up with the same result, my caller ID shows Unknown name, Unknown number for all calls??
Here is the ICS rom I'm running now but I can't post in that forum because I'm a newb.
Has anyone else seen this yet? Or have I done something wrong? I have searched and can't find anything specific to this phone.
Also, if I go back to the original Gingerbread the numbers come up as they are supposed to.
Sorry, please ignore this... got home and tried with a different number and it's working now?
Delete this thread at will
I'm actually seeing this as well - sort of. When a contact calls, it displays caller ID correctly. When someone not in my contacts calls it shows up as unknown. HOWEVER, my Any.DO app has functionality for missed calls (you can add a missed call to your task list to call later or ignore) and when that pops up I see the phone number of who called.
Weird...
when you go home, you probably connect to your home wi-fi. the app only works and does a "reverse lookup" whenever a data connection is working properly.
however, if the data of location is already stored on your contacts from previous SUCCESSFUL data reverse lookups, your phone will pull that information first if no data connection is available.
Strange... so I flashed the Alien ROM last night and all was good nunbers all worked etc. So just for kicks I've flashed back to the ATT rom and it's not working again.
all numbers just come up as Unknown (no number at all, just the word Unknown). I'm wondering if it simply takes some time for the networks to sync or something?
I'm gonna leave it on for a while and let you know what happens.

Are you using the built-in City ID app? cuz if so, it still requires a DATA connection.!! Wi-fi or Data. Without it, it will return "unknown". UNLESS it has been manually entered and/or retrieved from a previous session....
are you not understanding? I felt like I just repeated myself lol.

Thanks for that... I do have a data connection, both WIFI and 4G/LTE from my provider...It still doesn't work. I have no idea what you mean by a "City ID" app. Is there something I've missed?
I should also mention that this has NOTHING to do with my contacts. ANY call either a number I have in my contacts or a number that is not in my contacts, neither show up at all. When I get a phone call the screen goes black and I see the word UNKNOWN at the top and then the answer or hang up buttons at the bottom.
i am also facing the same issue
Found a reason behind the problem in another forum, have a look here
Its not the perfect solution but it does work and it means you have to call Rogers.

Naw that doesn't work for me, I don't have name display. It does that regardless, unless I spoof tbe caller id and then I work fine. I think rogers has a specific format that they detect for caller id and if it doesn't match then you get nothing.
I can't share how to spoof caller id because I have my VoIP company and so there certain things that I can do which otherwise isn't doable.
Basically the phone that's calling has to format the number in international calling string. +1 999 999 9999
Or the receiving phone has to change it to that since caller id works as a two step thing.

[Q] Caller ID/ Recent Calls Display

Hello Everyone,
I am Rooted and unlocked running the latest CM10.1 nightly.
Not sure if this is the right section, if not please direct me to the appropriate place. Yes I've searched, maybe my googling skills suck today.
Lets start from the top. My Wife has a Windows 8 phone, the only thing I find that it does, that my android does not is caller ID functionality. If she calls Lowes home improvement, It displays it in the call log as Lowes Home Improvement instead of the number. She does not have this number saved in her contacts. It does this with any number she pulls from the web.
Its nice because in the recent call list it shows the business and not just some number.
Is there an App or a setting to do this?
Thanks

Question Got a call from "None" today, weird happenings

I cant find where to post this, this website changed so much, but it was on my new s22 ultra so....
I got a call from "NONE" the 'number' beneath it was "NN".
No voice on the other side, and I attempted to called back. Then my phone popped up a little message near the bottom of the screen... "USSD Code Running."
It kinda freaked me out. What does that mean?
Do a Google search on "USSD Code Running". A lot of info comes up.
oh my...
Which code was it?

I've seen this kind of behavior when I've had the phone in my front pocket, and I happened to be sweating. The sweat carried the electrical signals in my skin through the pocket liner (I'm no scientist, just my running theory) to the screen and thus, randomly unleashing all sorts of weird mayhem and shenanigans.
It's either that or gremlins.........
Happened again, check the recording
Probably just a harmless rootkit...
For whatever reason it's probably just the way that phone responds to some unknown numbers with no caller ID. I block unknown numbers, try that.
Freaky.
Can you block the call?
I don't call back unknown numbers.
Off topic -
Noticed that Samsung added a feature in Samsung Messaging that allows users to block e-mail messages.
its an Aliens
It is mostly likely a SPAM caller. There are automatic dialing apps that can either spoof a number, or completely hide the number, which makes it difficult to block.
I'm have Verizon and it has a Call Filter app. Check with your provider if it has a call filter app. You can also find third party call filtering apps.
Unfortunately, dealing with SPAM and scam calls is a game of Wack-a-mole.

It just dialed NN corresponding to 66 which triggered a USSD code.

Yeah...don't call those kinds of numbers back. If something like that comes up, or you get a blocked number. Let it go to voicemail. If they leave a voicemail, fine. If not, don't call it back.
It is possible someone was trying to run a Smishing scam on you. With the aim to hijack your SIM and take over your phone service account. Depending on your carrier, the USSD code could trigger your device to do something you don't want it to do.

I do it short and quick :
The mobile Phone number of your simcard
Has now call forwarding active to the Hackers Server (ussd MUST bei activated by the victim/target. Hacker need the victim to call a 10 Digits number that will Route to His Server)
Its a curently Well known Hack ... (Thus Person was smart enough to hide His 10 Digits number ... Well played good trap)
What the attacker wants... example :
Get into all your Accounts that are secured with YOUR PHONE NUMBER
...WhatsApp Google ... An E-Mail Account ? Etc etc
So...
I dont believe IT was random Attack.
Someone who know how or someone who ordered this
Knows you ... And need to dive into your privates
(thats childplay Hacking from YouTube nothing unknown or hard to do)
Good News : Sometimes ...someone Else is "the target" .... So the attacker needs informations Out of your device and apps....to get information about the Others real Targets Phone number ... in that Case your device/Accounts need to be Hacked or hooked or jacked ....
If your simcard is older than 5-8 years ...Hmmm
Maybe the simcard still use [email protected] browser. (A Browser placed inside your simcard)
Get rid of such a simcard too. Better Sirius lee
Change ur simcard Phone number for ur savety.
But
do it by EVEN changing the mobile Network Provider. (Best in Case If u have an old jackable simcard)
Sad fact : If the Hacker has enough informations from your simcard u need to Change the Provider. Because ... Your Provider maybe gives u a Brand new simcard ... With a new number that u ordered (the Service to Change Phone number to a new one) ... But ... The new number ist the only Thing what Changed all other leaked informations will stay the same as an act of keeping your customer number in the customer Care systems.
U need new customer number or Change the Provider + new number
My Tip: Use a Landphone number as a WhatsApp number ^^ need to recieve calls to activate the new WhatsApp Account so No Premium SMS Hack possible.... its More save
And ... U can start new the new start is : never leak ur simcards original mobile Phone number. Not in those days. Use the original simcard Phone number to Order pizza or a taxi. Give IT to No one and u dont need to Clean everything... Like u need to do NOW

Jupp thats so obvious ... The trap was better than call the target and please the Person to dial the number that activates the call forwarding Code that waits on a Server
Sim jacking needs the [email protected] Browser in the simcard. Needs to be an old one. Network Provider dont sell new regular simcards with the [email protected]
And dave wouldnt know that an invisible SMS with Codes reached his SMS Inbox :/
No need to call him in that case ... Just send the right prepared SMS and Game over
