[Q] Looking for Samsung Infuse 2.2.1 Voodoo (ext4) kernel - Samsung Infuse 4G

Just upgraded from Captivate to Infuse... so far, Infuse is a solid phone. Looking for a Voodoo kernel which is basically stock, but has the following modifications:
- CWM Recovery (Voodoo Red).
- Voodoo lagfix (it will convert /system, /data, and /cache partition from RFS to ext4 during first boot)
I'm rooted with SuperOneClick and have a few root apps working fine (TiBU, RootExplorer, SQLite Editor, SGS kernel flasher, etc). Also, I replaced the stock recovery with the modified 3e recovery. Here are my specs:
Firmware: 2.2.1
Baseband: I997UCKE3
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: FROYO.UCKE3
Not ready to flash new ROM yet, but would like to flash a voodoo kernel (similar to what I did with my Captivate... wanted to remove lag, so flashed Supercurio's "voodoo+stock-Froyo-I897-UCKB1-unsigned-update.zip" on the Captivate).
So, anyone know of a voodoo lag-fix kernel which plays nice with an INFUSE running Froyo 2.2.1 UCKE3?
Thanks.

Plenty of options if you spend just a little time reading the dev forum.

I have... plenty of modified ROMs... and kernels with various bells and whistles. Was looking for a kernel compatible with INFUSE 2.2.1 UCKE3 that is basically stock.. but modified to add RED CWM and ext4 partitioning. Don't want to brick phone flashing an incompatible Kernel to the stock ROM.

This will cure what ails ya. http://www.mediafire.com/?n6x17c5e52unx49
It's the Defuse kernel for Froyo.

Thanks for the link and appreciate your input. Does the Defuse kernel 1.5 have the BLN issue that 1.4 had (at least what I read in a few threads)? Can BLN be turned off completely?

No, and Yes respectively.

There is also the community kernel.
Sent from my Samsung Infuse 4G - 1.6ghz

And Infusion-Froyo.
As I said - plenty of options. The Gingerbread kernels are reasonably clearly labeled as such.

Thanks for all the recommendations/ links. I opted to go with the CWM Community kernel... flashed it with SGS Kernel Flasher. It couldn't have gone any smoother! Took 7 minutes for voodoo to do it's thing... rebooted, and all is right in the world again. Used "CPU Spy" to confirm kernel flashed (RED CWM w/ Voodoo was also a big clue all was good). No more RFS... Thanks again for the tips.

OK... need expert help: I need to return to stock. I backed up my stock kernel using SGS Kernel Flasher right before I flashed the v8 Community Kernel. So my question: Can I simply disable voodoo lagfix, then reflash the stock kernel (using SGS Kernel Flasher) over the v8 Community Kernel? Or will I create a problem flashing the stock kernel over the v8 Community Kernel? Will this remove the RED CWM Recovery? Thx.
EDIT: Closing... posted question as a new topic

I'm on froyo as I can install the Red cwm with SGS Kernel Flasher..help me please

Voodoo for EE19?

I had voodoo and CWM running with otherwise stock EC10, but since I was missing 1/3 of my calls, I upgraded to EE19 via Samsung Keis. (before you ask, yes, I disabled the lagfix before updating)
Anyway, after the update, my recovery appears to be stock again and I am looking to get Voodoo up and running again, because well, my phone receives calls now, but its a laggy POS. Need Voodoo badly...
I don't want to brick another phone by flashing the wrong kernel, so can someone point me in the right direction of the proper recovery and voodoo kernel for EE19?
Any of the ec10 kernels will work on ee19. There all in the facinate developement forums

These two seem to be the best.

Oh, great. So at the very least, I can do exactly what I did before and have nothing but Voodoo

I am reading through these now... These are just kernels right, so I'll still be using the stock EE19 ROM? Still learning this stuff.
Yeah. There just kernels. Nothing else. And yeah you can run the voodoo kernels right along with the ee19. Rom.

Excellent, once again, thank you!

Bali 3.3 kernel issues

I tried installing the Bali 3.3 kernel within CWM as the instructions showed, i had been using KG4 Gingerbread. The phone is bricked now after the install. It hangs on the splash screen then vibrates once, then three times, over and over again untill you pull the battery or go back into recovery. Any suggestions?
Is there a procedure to clean everything on the phone for a clean install. Id like to ultimately try the Valhalla GB ROM along with the Bali kenrel on my phone.
Follow my guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223765
Ill give it a try, does it matter in which order after this i try to install the Bali kernel and valhalla ROM?
Bali doesn't work with any gingerbread ROM. The guide I posted will get you drhonk's custom KG4 kernel with CWM so you can flash CWM roms for GB.
You'll need to install Valhalla on step 11

Ahhhh, good to know.
The main reason i wanted to try this was for the notification light mod it has built in. Are there any ways to get this feature with a gingerbread ROM?
There's no BLN mod for our phones on GB as far as I know. I miss it too =/
+1 on missing BLN.... dam you GB!
Sent from my sgs4g using the XDA App on a Whitehawkx ROM...
You think its worth sticking with the current 2.3.4 without the earlier mods? Im coming from a Nokia E72, and that notification light was one feature i really liked about that phone.
I've been using KH2 without any BLN mod (audiophile ftw) and so far it's been pretty good. It's snappier than any froyo ROM I tried and you can make apps do things like do sound notifications every x minutes instead of having to use BLN. Not a replacement but a fair substitute

2.3.4 how to crack the original recovery? / System / bin can not find the recovery file
read the development forum and search. everything you need to know is there.
for 2.3.4 recovery you need to flash a modified kernel.
There's no CM7 for our phones available.
If you want to get on a 2.3.4 ROM, there's Audiophile FTW, Valhalla and ICBINB.
You can follow my guide to prepare your phone before flashing any of those ROMs.

You'll have to do the reading and research but to reiterate what was said: no cm7 for the sgs4g yet -you might read that it can work in the non4g models but be aware its also said those versions aren't compatible worth our phones. There are some good roms though. I use drhonk kg4 kernel, icbinb kh2 and the tweaks by dsexton. 2700 quadrant scores without oc, 3400 at 1.3ghz. The phone is excellent. Fast, sleek, and it works.

Available in China, GSM and WCDMA networks, I brush the CWM kernel yesterday, from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194032, there is no stable ROM? Thank you.
Mr Jon,
now that you have modified recovery, you can flash any cwm gingerbread rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117554
though I wouldn't flash a KF rom, as those were early releases. try a KG or KH rom (KH are the newest).

Flashing kernals causes boot loops

I just got the Captivate yesterday and I'm in love with it. I've been modding my Backflip for a while and I'm fairly certain I know what I'm doing. I've been trying different ROMs and I've currently settled on a rooted stock 2.2 ROM.
I want to change my kernel though, so I put my phone in download mode and flashed the Galaxian kernel via Odin, it finished and then my phone started boot looping. So I one clicked it and tried again with SGS flasher, boot loop. One click restored, tried with CWM, boot loop.
I've also tried Talon, Speedmod, Setiron and a stock kernel with all 3 methods. Nothing will flash without boot looping.
That kernel is designed for reoriented i-9000 roms

What about all of the other ones that were supposedly for 2.2 ROMs?

It needs to be a true captivate 2.2 kernel a lot are i9000's you just need to read the op for whichever kernel you are looking at thoroughly. 90% of the time the dev states if its an i9000 kernel.
The speed mod kernel here, forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893880 SHOULD work just make sure to wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery after install and it should boot.

You will have to read the description in the first post on the kernel you want to install, and the kernel you were installing was a gingerbread kernel

Yeah. You were trying to install a gingerbread kernel on a froyo ROM. That won't work.
Thanks guys! I think I downloaded the wrong version of SpeedMod the first time, it worked this time. Firstly I didn't know that the difference between i-9000 and i897 meant that much. Secondly, I'm not really sure how to read the kernel topics, they're confusing to say the least :S.
I'll learn sooner or later but thanks for your help everyone.

Yeah some are very confusing the biggest help Is to learn the difference in firmware revision codes. Most captivate roms/kernels begin with k. like kh3, kf1 that sort of thing and from what I remember j is for I9000 eg jv1 etc...

AOKP M5 and VOODOO

I can't seem to get voodoo sound to run on stock AOKP M5 with stock kernel.
I bought the voodoo sound plus, but when i load the driver i get a ''voodoo sound driver loading error''.
I'm rooted and it has the correct permissions etc.
Anyone have any success with this?
Perhaps the stock kernel doesn't have voodoo settings? Not really sure. The first thing I do is flash a kernel and voodoo everything is working fine for me.

Yes but i thought the whole point of the paid version of voodoo is that it loads the necessary drivers into the kernel :S
Doesn't AOKP on our phones have Pete's kernel as stock? I thought one of our members had the module loaded for Voodoo with Petes kernel.

No idea about the kernel, but definitely not working :/
Bumping this as i'm desperate.
AFAIK, voodoo module only loads on stock ICS kernel, not pete's. But check his thread in development, I remember there was a debate about it some time ago, don't know what was the conclusion.
Although if you're a fan of a stockish kernel, load up SimpleKernel from terryhau, it's built from stock ICS sources and has Voodoo & BLN added.
