tmobile and g2x - T-Mobile LG G2x

I'm at my third tmobile g2x,
I'm experiencing the usual rebooting problem.
beside that tmobile sent me a $150 bill because they said the second phone I sent back experienced problems for liquid problems (and is not true, the sticker in the back was white and had the same problems as all the other g2x),
now they are telling me that they will not exchange the phone because is a known issue and I have to call LG.
So basically they tell their customer that they sold thousands of defective phones and it's not their problem
Thank You Tmobile

It's the blame game...

sorry to hear you're still having problems i am very lucky so far but it is horrible to hear that tmobile isn't taking any responsibility

When I got my second G2x before I rooted it, I was still having reboot and freeze issues. I went to T-Mobile and *****ed them out and told them that I wanted a new battery because when I charge it or plug it in to the computer, the battery gets very hot and the phone freezes. Once I got a new battery, absolutely no reboots or any flaws whatsoever. Give it a try. Hope this helps. Plus running CM7 has greatly increased battery and performance.

[Q] Rogers - 2nd handset, Preparing SIM message

My first One X was showing this "Preparing SIM" message periodically and I eventually had the phone replaced when connections to Rogers service would drop out. In order to reconnect a reboot was required.
My 2nd device although stays connected to Rogers service just fine but I am still getting the "preparing SIM" message ever now and then.
The Rogers support people could not say anything about the message but I did have them put it on my record that I am experiencing it in the even that there is a problem after the initial no haggle swap period has passed.
If you are also having this message come up I would suggest you call into support and have them note that you are having this issue. Not that you will need to have the phone replaced but in the even you do, it's there on your account.
Has anyone else seen this on their phone?

Hey i used to have this problem. When i was using Sense.. Try using Apex Launcher and let me know if you have the problem still.
I've got the issue from your first phone. Been wondering if it's a hardware or a software issue. Seems to happen more often when I am farther from toronto, getting a worse lte signal. Could be anecdotal though. Don't know if I should exchange it for another one
Using apex since day one

I have an AT&T hox...the same thing happens to mine. Also, on the notification bar, it's has a triangle with an ! in it and next to it says something about restricted access. At first I thought it was they were getting Jacksonville fl ready for lte...nope.
Same thing on mine. Was on the phone with Rogers today and after disabling LTE on my end and switching to HSPA+, my data has returned and is working normally now.
Beamed from my Rogers HTC One XL
just got off the phone with At&T and HTC technical support...their answer was
huh? Never heard of that...most probably sim card reader going bad...
Wtf...and it just did it again. Going to return this phone for another one tomorrow.

So, do you get the replacement Artimus? How's your replacement?
Last time I went to replace mine, the manager give me a hard time. He replace my sim card, but I still notice it at least once a day. Now, the situation is bad because this phone is out of stock.
Please let us know your experience. Thanks...
Update: I have since done a factory reset and haven't experienced the issue since. LTE is working fine on Rogers now too.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Data Connection Issues

I am having a weird issue with my Galaxy Nexus. Let me first say that it is entirely stock . I bought it the day after it was released and have loved it except for this issue.
I can be driving in the car with Spotify running playing music or at home just checking emails and all of a sudden it will just act like it is switching from 4G to 3G but it seems to get stuck. While this is happening no data being sent or received. It has bars but they are just grayed out. I went to Verizon and they said that it was something that happens with a lot of phones. I had never heard of this happening before and I just thought and still think that this chick was full of it. She said the way to fix it was to change the phone to airplane mode on then off and it would fix the issue faster then waiting on it. I told her I didn't get it because my friend bought a Galaxy Nexus the first day it came out and this never happens to him, also fully stock. Also I can be right next to him and he has 4 bars of 4G and I have 2 bars for 4G or even worse I will have like 2 bars of 3G. Also my friend has never had these issues.
So after all of this I ask VZW what the next move would be and she said I would have to do a factory reset and try another SIM card before being able to get a warranty replacement. I am wanting to know if anyone else has seen this or what others might think is the issue. I think it has something to do with the antennas for 4G/3G possibly being bad or faulty or something. I don't care about doing a factory reset but I know that is VZW bonk excuse to try before giving me a new phone.
Data drops have been quite the issue with the VZW Gnex. Factory reset or a sim card won't help. Just do what you have to do to get a replacement.

That is what I was kinda thinking. Just haven't had a free chance to make sure I have everything backed up and then do the wipe and get the new phone. I will see if I just tell em i did the reset that it didn't work and they can give me a new one. Rather just get the new one and possibly root it. Well thank for the input.

NO SIM 100, my patience, 0

Upon returning home from a business trip, the dreaded NO SIM error started creeping up on my phone again. 2.5 weeks in Salt Lake City, no issue. Back in TN, horrid NO SIM errors abound. I called Verizon tech support today, and he noticed I already exchanged the phone for a new one, along with a new SIM. One thing he mentioned, it looked like I was "roaming" in the system, so he reset some routers (his words) after having me pull the battery and wait a couple of minutes before powering the S3 back up. Sure enough, on the drive home from work, the phone had a NO SIM issue... so I unplugged the battery for the rest of the drive home. Once inside, I plugged the battery back into the phone, everything looked hunky dory, so I went about my business... and sure as s***, the phone gave me another NO SIM. So I contacted Verizon again, and she offered me any Android phone as a replacement. Now, I don't know if you guys have looked at the current line up for Verizon's Android based smartphones, but it's basically the Moto Razr or the Samsung Galaxy S3. I have not found a case that I absolutely love, so I have invested in quite a few so far, plus additional charging cradles, car mounts, etc... frustrating because I love this phone, but I use it for work, so I can't deal with this issue much longer.
If you had to select another phone to replace it, what would you go with? The new RAZR M? (lose NFC, smaller and crappier screen, etc) The RAZR Maxx?
Thanks, in advance.
No other phone on Verizon can touch the S3. Only phone that can be comparable is something that is not out yet.
Then when it comes out, they will tell you it is to new.

Might hold out for the Note 2. Testing something currently... wondering if Go SMS is the issue, seeing as the problem seems to creep up with some sort of combination of texting and calls. Will update tomorrow.
Did you apply the latest update? It should have updated automatically OTA, unless you are running custom unlocked rooted whatever ROM. In that case go to dev section and download latest radio and flash it. Should fix that damn no SIM problem.

Yep, already flashed last week. Tech Support told me tonight they have been fielding calls post patch showing it didn't fix the issue. If they are offering me any android of my choice, they are probably as flustered as I am. Almost went to a Rezound, a step backwards, I know, but I am at wit's end. Will see how the next week goes.
Sorry to hear. Try and hold out for a fix. I came from a rezound, and while I loved my HTC phones, this s3 is great. Too different to compare.

A fix is being pushed out today to address this issue. S3 is bar far the best phone you will find out there...
do you have a source about that?
Verizon is super frustrating. I switched from Sprint and got the Gnex, along with the "mute issue" where all of a sudden your microphone stops working during a call and you have to hang up. I've had the phone replaced and the replacement still does it so they offered me an "early upgrade" if I buy the S3 for $200.00. I did some research and found out about the no sim issue on the S3 so when I called back to tell them I didn't want an S3 they offered a RAZR M at $99.00 :/
I'm really considering breaking my contract with them to get a phone I like that works as it's supposed to.
Ya. This issue is really bugging me. I honestly believe there is a hiccup between the phone and the tower when a text is sent. I noticed at home that when I have wifi connected, and then send a text, the S3 will connect to 4G to send the message. At that point, something triggers in the phone and it loses connectivity with the SIM.
Not that this helps much... I explained it to level 2 support and they kept telling me how it was a new to them issue.

You're not kidding. I don't know if they REALLY don't know about these issues or they are just lying.
Tier 2 was who was helping me with the replacement phone and when I mentioned the No Sim error they said they had never heard of it and the only problem he's ever seen with an S3 is when a user doesn't turn off their old phone when activating a new phone :/

Ya, it amazes me that their "level 2" support still tries this excuse. Every time they try this with me, I ask them to tell me what the latest S3 software update addresses, and then the phone gets quiet, followed by excuses and them never hearing about it... even tho Verizon put out a patch to fix the issue.
Keep documenting it, tis the only way it's going to get addressed, or at the very least you will have ammo to get a new phone.

Following guidance from the 2nd level tech after calling tech support, I stopped by the local verizon store today to pick up a new SIM. This is my third SIM, but she assured me there was a bad batch floating around the stores. We'll see... fingers crossed.

A friend of mine had the same issue, we both have the GS3 and live in the same area. She gets constant sim errors while I've never got one and I switch between 3G/4G frequently. She recieved a new sim a few weeks ago and hasn't had an error since. Seems a lot of sims are incorrectly configured with Verizon's network, just an educated guess.

LCD anyone?

I dropped my phone yesterday and cracked the screen to the point where it doesn't even light up. My softkeys light up fine and it still rings when I call it but the LCD is completely dead. Does anyone know where I can get a new one for a reasonable price? I'm so heartbroken!

Do you have a link. The cheapest I have found on ebay are over 200 and those come from China so who knows if they even work. Samsung charges $180 to replace a screen? Cool. I contacted Samsung via their online chat and the person I talked to said that they will replace my screen for $135. I can't believe its that cheap. As you can see you can't even buy the screen for that much. I'm going to put a formal request in and see if that price jumps up. If Samsung will fix it though then I'm thinking thats the way to go. Hopefully they don't care that I have my bootloader unlocked and have a custom ROM on it.

I'm pretty sure they will. If you had USB debugging enabled before your screen died, try to adb reboot download and flash back the stock ROM, just to be safe. Otherwise try and use the Volume Down+Home+Power combo then press volume down then power again to enter download mode (while the phone is off)

Do you think they would care? I'm not sending it in under warranty. I'm paying to have them fix it. I would think at the very least might just flash a stock ROM and maybe relock the bootloader. I mean they do sell a developer version of my phone so its not like flashing a custom ROM is a capital crime. I think Verizon is the driving force between locking that down. Anyone have any insight into if this will be problem?

Alright the verdict is in. I sent the phone and I just got it back yesterday. The phone has a brand new screen but also has a brand new stock ROM installed. It appears that they slammed the factory load over my rooted ROM and unlocked bootloader, leaving me with 100% stock phone. Its annoying but I can understand why they would want to have a clean load on there so they can test all the phones functionality. The problem is my phone seems to have lost its ability to connect to 4g now. It connects fine to 3g but not 4g. I called Verizon and they believe the problem is phone related because when I put my SIM into my Galaxy Nexus 4g loads up just fine.
I went through the root/bootloader unlock process again so I could load my old ROM to see if my 4g would start working but still no love. Any thoughts on what I could try to resolve this?

I have a similar issue. Since the radios are integrated (right?) I am assuming my 4g is not fried (got it off eBay). I am thinking the connection between the 4g antenna and the radio is severed somehow. Haven't gotten around to checking it out (always on wifi) but when I do I'll try to update if I am successful with fixing it.
Probably worth going to a Verizon company store and get a new sim card. There free at company stores and 15.00 at retailers. But DON'T Dial *228 with a 4g phone, it can mess up the sim. After getting new sim, check radios and see what you have installed. I would try a few different one to see what works best with your phone and flash rpm also. If you unlocked, check it or run ezunlock again version 1.2 has been reported to work better than the latest.
Goid luck

Actually I got mine working. The issue was that Samsung didn't fix my phone. They replaced it with a new one and just reflashed the same IMEI. The problem was that whatever process they use to flash the IMEI doesn't jive well with Verizons registration system. I talked to customer care for a few hours and they finally said I should try a new sim card. I was scepitcal but the guy at the Verizon store activated a new SIM for me and after the phone powered back up I had 4g. Apparently the new SIM card retriggered whatever activation that was required to resync the all the numbers. Might wan to try getting a new SIM.
It now makes sense to me why my phone appeared to be wiped so thoroughly. It was actually a brand new phone. Not a bad deal for $135.

[Q] Constant Voice Roaming Notification

I have been trying to find a solution for this since I activated the phone (Verizon HTC One (M8)) on Friday March 28th.
The phone constantly displays voice roaming notification. It includes the roaming triangle and you cannot swipe it away from the notifications. My only solution is to click the app info and select force close the app. This gets rid of the notification but the roaming icon is still visible above the 4G signal. I have gone to VZW went threw the typical settings changes with an inevitable swap of the phone for a newer device resulting in no success. VZW put in a trouble ticket but i haven't heard back from them and it has been 5 days already. I'm going to be contacting them soon.
For whatever reason the ERI Version is displayed as "not available." To me this seems like a software bug with the radios. They will probably push out an update to patch it but I don't know if I want to wait for it. VZW seems to take forever to push out updates
This seems to be a semi common and known issue by VZW from what I have read on other threads on other forums.
To my knowledge the only solutions have been wiping the partition cache in the recovery and swapping the device for a new phone.
What is everyone else's experience with this? Are there any solutions? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance all!

It is a software bug, Verizon is no longer replacing the phones that this happens on, an update will be coming. Ask this according to a business/ government support agent I talked to yesterday. He said they were no longer swapping out phones, as he took my address to send me a brand new one. He said it was a known issue. Take that for what it is worth.....

I know this is a software bug. When I called VZW when I first had the issue the associate told me this. But he also said this issue didn't effect all the devices. He suggested taking it in and swapping the phone for another. I am just frustrated that VZW doesn't have their stuff together because yesterday I was on the phone with another person to check up on the situation since I hadn't heard from them in 5 days. She told me that they had fixed the issue, it was a manufacturing defect and new phones were being shipped out. Sounds like she didn't know what she was talking about because she couldn't ship me a phone, not unlike you situation. However she assured me that the VZW stores were shipped "new" phones with this issue has been fixed. She said to go to the nearest store and swap out the phone again.
I got to the store and they basically told me to piss off. Even though this lady put notes in my account to swap the phone. I just wish VZW would inform all their employees of this issue so they are all on the same page because every VZW employee is saying something different to me and its really starting to piss me off. One employee is saying its a hardware issue the other is saying software. GET IT TOGETHER!
I'm almost to the point where I want to take the phone back entirely.
Sorry just have to vent a little bit.
I understand, I really debated on this phone or wait for Z2 (if coming to Verizon), G3,possibly even S5. But decided on build quality of this phone. Buddy at work got his the day after release and has had no problems at all. Only issue with mine is the ERI voice roaming deal, just annoying really. The guy on the phone did mention that newer phones would have the issue resolved but he eluded to it being a software issue and was going to have them send me one of the newer models they had in. Hope you get your situation resolved.

I had this issue when I bought the phone on launch day, spent three hours on the phone with tech support and finally swapped phones the next day. Now I see it's a known problem. Verizon feels you aren't charged for voice roaming so it's okay to wait for a fix but it's nuts, I think it will drain your battery a little faster as well.

pj did the phone swap fix your issue? or do you still have the same problem.
As for the battery it might be drained faster but its an overall astonishing improvement over my Galaxy Nexus I had before the HTC. I would have to charge that 2-3 times a day depending on use. Currently my phone lasts all day. its off the charger from about 5:45 in the morning to 9:30-10 at night and I might have 30-40% battery left at that point.

I had this very same issue. Troubleshot with all kinds of people. Even used the Sim from my wife's. Same thing. Its the phone/software. Took it back and swapped it and problem solved immediately.
Tech support was unable to contact the phone. Under about->software in settings there was no eri number (all my other phones have 5). It wasn't just voice roam but data roam as well.

I am still convinced that this is software related. but this is the latest conversation I had via chat with VZW. She is claiming hardware.
Please excuse my typos I was at work and trying to double task at he same time.

My name is Lain, how may I assist you?
Lain: Good morning what can I help out with today?
HTCdude 123: I have an on going issue with my phone that needs to be addressed
HTCdude 123: there are notes on my account about the issue that I am having on my htc one m8 with the voice roaming
Lain: Sorry to hear that you've been running into some problems with your phone and voice roaming HTCdude 123, especially with a brand new device like the M8.
HTCdude 123: the last person I talked to wanted me to go to a Verizon store and exchange the device for another. She put notes in my account to make sure they would even though I have already exchanged the phone under the 14 day no hassle but the store wouldn't do anything
HTCdude 123: i want to know why i would be told something from Verizon by one person and another from someone in the store
HTCdude 123: I just want a phone that works
HTCdude 123: before i am forced to keep this phone because it passes its 14 day window
Lain: Thats terrible to hear and certainly not what should have happened! If you are having problems with your phone and you are within the 1st 14 days of having it the store you got it from should have no problems exchanging it for the same type of phone. Can I ask what happened when you went in?
HTCdude 123: i purchased the phone online
HTCdude 123: after getting the phone by mail i activated and had this issue. i called vzw they couldn't fix it and told me to go to a store to exchange it. i went to one store. they exchanged the phone and i still had the same issue. they couldn't do anything so they filed a trouble ticket and said they would get back with me
HTCdude 123: they never did
HTCdude 123: so 5 days later i contacted again asking about the status of the trouble ticket
HTCdude 123: the lady said there was an issue with the phone and it has been addressed all phones shipping out now are fixed. she was going to send me a replacement but there were none to send so she said to go to another store and they should swap the phone out again
Lain: Thanks those are good details to have, though of course an annoying problem to run into with a new phone.
HTCdude 123: i went to another store on my way home from work and the guy i spoke to woulnd exchange the phone because it had already been exchanged once. he told me it was a software update that needed to be addressed
Lain: So the store told you that there was going to be a software update, let me look and see what I can find on this. Can I have a minute or two to see what I can find?
HTCdude 123: yes
Lain: Thanks its appreciated
Lain: Thanks for your patience I'm still looking to see what I can find on any software updates on here
Lain: Thanks for your patience while I was checking on this and I do not show any details about a software update being in the works to resolve this. What I show on here is that we supposed to replace the device which since you are within the 14s of having your phone. I'm uncertain why the store said that they would not replace it for you and I'm sorry that this happened. I would recommend reaching back out to the store and I will note the information on here regarding this to help.
HTCdude 123: and what should happen if the store does the same thing?
HTCdude 123: you are telling me you don't see anything about any roaming issue with this phone?
HTCdude 123: no issue at all with the device?
Lain: The thing is that they shouldn't do so. The direction that we have been provided with on this issue with roaming is that it was a production issue and not software related and that replacing the device needed to resolve this
HTCdude 123: so you know that this is not a software related issue at all. its indeed hardware
Lain: Based off of everything I can see on thats right
HTCdude 123: where do you get your information? shouldn't the stores all have the same information? should Verizon not have pulled all of the old phones off the shelves and put out new phones with the issue resolved?
HTCdude 123: im asking all these questions because the last person i talked to online told me the same thing and the person at the store i went to exchange the phone told me something completely different
Lain: Yes all of our direct stores should have had this information and I wish that I could say why they did not. I'm just sorry that they did not and that you ran into a problem when you went it. I will make certain that all of this is noted on here to help when you go into the store. So long as you are within the 14 days of having this phone they will be able to help replace it.
HTCdude 123: i should be able to replace the phone even though i have replaced it already? because i was told that you can only do that once.
Lain: So long as you are not trying to go to a different model of phone and you are within the 14 day period they should be able to still replace it for you.
HTCdude 123: how can i be certain that they have a fixed models in stock?
Lain: Thats a great question and they should have them. What we have been told is that this problem was linked to a small number of the M8's
HTCdude 123: but the current shipment they have might be part of the batch with the same issue no? will they just keep replacing my phone till they find a good one
Lain: Thats an answer I do not have, though I wish that I did. I would expect at this point that the store should have received additional M8's to use due to this so you should not have to go through multiple replacements from here on this
HTCdude 123: ok. thank you for your time
Lain: Glad to help!
Your chat transcript will be sent to ---------------------.com at the end of your chat.
Lain: Anything else that I can help out with today?
HTCdude 123: no thanks
Issue Temp Fixed
Ok guys, please hit the thanks button if this works for you.
Go to settings->App Manager->All-> scroll down to "Phone"-> click force stop.
It comes back after reboot, but at least its a start!
I would say this issue has now been solved. I ended up getting my phone exchanged again and the issue went away. 3rd time is a charm right? Either way I believe there was an update to the VZW M8 a month or so after its release that addressed this issue.
