super stable and very fast and looks great, been running at 1.4GHz for a month with no problems and 20+ hours battery life, wifi calling works great instant GPS locks, and no problems with Netflix or hdmi..

Did you ever compare it to Weapon G2x?

CM7 nightlies/faux123's CM7 kernel

I am running Weapon G2x with the stock kernel. This ROM has it all and everything works perfectly.

Running CM7 Nighltlies with the faux kernel, very stable and solid. I was running the CM7 Alpha 7 ROM on my sensation but decided to switch mack to the G2x. Must faster and smoother phone in my opinion and it feels more solid in my hand.

Am using my own mix based on stock and Weapon with stock kernel...

G2xTreme
I am running G2Xtreme 1.1.1v2 Faux's 0.1.3-ext4 kernel. Everything works great including the HDMI which was very important to me. I uninstalled cm7 146, WeaponG2x, eagleblood1.07, and trigger0822. Everyone of these great rom's had hdmi problems. But they are all great.
My Antutu benchmark score is 5561 at 1.2 mhz which is just below the Galaxy S 2. When I was running trigger with Faux's latest kernel ( can't remember what it was) my score was 5630 at 1.1mhz which scored me above the Galaxy. I have had this phone for about 6 weeks and didn't even know ROM's existed until i stumbled upon the android reddit page after two weeks of ownership. Now it seems I can flash a rom in my sleep! There is that much info in these forums! How to's and even youtube videos. Amazing, really, that android phones bring so many people together!
I haven't commented enough to post ( noob that I am ) in the dev forum so I would like to say THANK YOU to all the dev's and especially *renocivik* for his very stable, fast, stable, rom.

For those who are using weapon with no problems, has anyone had problems streaming an avi file through the hdmi ? It was very unstable for me. So now I'm curious to see if maybe it was just my plasma tv.

can you post a link to your rom
thanks

Faux GB kernel : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102720

I switched from CM7 (faux sv kermel) to Weapon G2X (stock kernel) a couple of days ago. Had too many problems with CM7 connectivity - lost APN, no wifi calling, slow-no GPS lock etc. Most could be fixed with a hard reboot but I found myself rebooting multiple times a day. Gave up after I missed a couple of critical calls.
Weapon G2X seems to be stable. I liked the default layout/launcher etc built into CM7 a little better but with a little work and the Go Launcher I think I now prefer this ROM.
What are the known weaknesses of Weapon G2X btw? I went through the dedicated thread but couldn't really identify any weaknesses. Excuse me if this is a stupid question - I am a noob and still learning about this phone and Android in general having come from Blackberry just a month or so ago!

Cm7 nightly 160. Bluetooth finally works and it works flawlessly. Stock kernel for now.

Weapon no Kernel.
but I am thinking to switch back to EB CM7 + Faux, everything run faster with CM7 roms

CM7 nightly 161, stock kernel. Working good so far.
Been with CM7 ever since LG "bricked" my phone with their GB update and not updating their camera app to GB.
Had faux's 0.4.2 up to nightly 153, but had my APN disappearing and wifi dropping connection (appeared connected, but no data was getting through), so I switched back to stock. I have this problem in 158/160/161 + faux kernel.
I wonder if this is caused by CM7 going to 2.3.7 recently...

Currently running Cm7 Nightlies with Faux 4.2SV CM kernel. It's been pretty stable expect for the data & wifi dropping like mentioned before. But a simple reboot fixes it...and i don't mind rebooting either cos reboot only takes less than 20 secs.
Came from MiUi 1.9.30, which i must say is the fastest ROM i've ever had (atleast for me). Just got really tired of the iPhone look. Then switched to Weapon 2.6...but didn't really like the stock look and reboots took literally like more than 60secs. So i thot i'd try going back to CM7.

After trying miui, cm7, eagle, and trigger, (with various kernels) I settled on weapon. I used both versions of faux's kernel, but I got sick of the five minute boot time, so now I'm on the stock kernel.
I absolutely LOVE weapon. It's lacking some of the customization options of other roms, but the stability more than makes up for it.

What rom/kernal do you use and why?

Just started flashing roms onto my nexus s, wondering what others people are using. Specify if it's nexus s or nexus s 4g!(Links if you want to be fancy)
Nexus S running the latest version of NSCollab (in conjunction with Netarchy Kernel)....why? Cause its Vanilla Android, Fast and the most stable ROM I've used. And I've used quite a few of them.
NS4G and i swap between Stock Deodexed, Deck, and MIUI with nandroid backups (i easily get bored).
Always use Net's kernel, mostly CFS stable (best battery IMO), if streaming alot i go BFS for a day.
What: Manually compiled AOSP with a lil' bit modded kernel (voodoo color, ext4 mount option, read ahead buffer, etc.)
Why: Because that's the reason I bought Nexus S -- to be able to play around anyway I like

Well it's more of why do you feel that the rom is better then an other ie:battery, looks, speed
Cyanogenmod and Netarchy BFS kernals. Amazing battery life. Voodoo colors is great. My phone runs like a dream. I've tried a lot of other roms but they just don't cut it for me.
I also use that mod from these forums that replaces ADW in CM7 with the stock Gingerbread launcher. Its like a dream come true.

I'm using CM7 Nightly Builds with Netarchy 1.3.4 CFS. Because its stable, fast and awesome. CM7 Is a no brainer. Why use anything else? I've tried many kernels and Netarchy is the best so far. I don't bother overclocking.. tried it and I don't see enough of a gain to deal with instability or possible instability.

I came from a souped up Incredible to this phone, and it's been an eye opener. So glad I jumped.

It's fastest ROM I ever used on Nexus S and have many big and small improvements compared to stock ROM.

NSCollab is built on CM7 rather than vanilla android.
I used NSCollab before as well. Currently running ZuluGen as my daily driver though. Switched over cause I liked the theming of Zulugen more. They both running CM7 with some minor tweaks here and there though, so basically performance wise I haven't really noticed much difference between the two.
As for kernels have stuck with netarchy for the most part, has been amazingly stable and fast for me, and seems to be one of the only kernels with voodoo drivers kept updated frequently.
I use htc clay personal its a remix of nightly 104 from cm7 but with nets 1.3.4 bfs quad scores of 3500 oc to 1.3 with 31hrs on a single charge.

Same. I come from a Hero, a device I rooted to make it look and behave as much as possible like a Nexus S. Now that I have one, I'm in heaven. It's rooted, but I have only ever rooted my old phones to mock the stock Android experience.
It's fast enough for me and I have no reason to flash anything when it's already capable of doing everything an Android can do.
CM7 nightly.
Hmm... 3500 quadrant score without OC?
ya...
CyanogenMod 7.0.3 with Netarchy kernel
It's OK most of the time, sometimes freezes/FCs randomly though.

[Q] MIUI or CM7 or Weapon G2x

Which one are you Running / Why?
Please Leave your Feedback , and vote
Weapon. I tried CM7 and the camera plainly sucked. You need the LG cam to take advantage of the 8mp/1080p camera. MIUI is based on CM7 so the same applies.

Weapon. I like everything about it and it's the fastest smoothest rom I've tried out of the 3 you listed.

CyanogenMod... Fastest ROM hands down. OC/UV kernels, so many customizations. Theme Chooser. CM settings. Camera works great for me.

Bionix and Faux Rom
I'm really enjoying the CM7 with Faux 4.7 Kernal.
However, I do admit, the camera for the CM7 is butt compared to the original one. I have a T2i so it doesn't matter CM7 hands down, is the fastest ROM I've experienced. 7605 on Antutu
Just switched to Weapon G2x from EaglesBlood and it feels like I just got a new phone! Way better battery life, it's faster and less crashes.
I'm liking Weapon G2X with faux's kernel though I feel like getting used to CM7 because I'm flashing CM9 as soon as its available. At the same time I love weapon. It is so easy to use and the toggles on the slide down bar are convenient.
Sent from my G2X
Went back to Weapon 3.0 today after playing with Bionix and several Miui versions the past weekend. Everything just works. Fast, smooth, predictable. never crashes or hangs up. BT works great. Terrific battery life! An incredible Rom! Only downside is no more updates unless someone else takes over the Rom.
Chalk another one up for Weapon.
"All these noobs hatin' on my weapon when all they've ever run is C M 7."
have you guys tried SinghUI? i think its amazing so far for me atleast... i was on weapon which was great too!!
Definitely hands down weapon...everything pails in comparison. Paired with faux123 re-packed kernel the bootime is way faster and the rom is just incredibly smooth.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
My boot time is actually slower with the new kernel? It used to boot up very quickly. Strange.. Either way it's a great kernel.
Sent from my G2X
dependson what you like.
speedwise - weapon
looks- miui.
battery wise, weapon and miui is the same from my experience.
cm7 is just out of the picture. used it, didnt like it. doesnt look too good and battery drains fast.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
for me actually i get the best battery life with miui :/ with weapon i got around 10-12 hours of usage, with MIUI with CM7 7.2 Kernel i get easily around 15-20hours of good usage.
Weapon - amazing battery life and fits my philosophy - if it ain't broken, don't fix it (not very popular in XDA).

ROM Recommendation please?

I haven't rooted/modded in awhile. I used to just use CM7 when I first got the phone. I've gone through 3 replacements now and have yet to mod it. Can you guys recommend the best ROM for the specifics I'm looking for?
-Has to have wifi calling (this is a must i barely get 1 bar to no svc in my apartment)
-has to record in 1080
-has to have HDMI working
Please let me know which ROM you'd recommend? I'm tired of the stock always getting the black screen of death and the random reboots. Tmobile said they can't exchange it anymore. Thanks!
Phoenixblood

Try all of them then pick the one u like best.
NVIDIA NEVER AGAIN!
Weapon or Tsugi. Love weapon G2x because it is really stable amd has great toggles. Tsugi is great also but i really want the toggles.

Ran 2.3.3 eaglesblood for the longest and it was very stable, but I really like voodoo and the faux123 kernel for ota based roms kept freezing and rebooting my phone worse than the stock ROM/kernel and it took forever to reboot due to the cache rebuild issue. Then I tried RG2x MIUI and loved it but had too many bugs...plus MIUI has a bit of a learning curve to it. Now I'm on phoenixblood 1.4 with faux123 cm7 based kernel and so far everything is great. Only been a couple days but so far fast, smooth and stable!
If you don't care about overclocking or voodoo sound, then eaglesblood 2.3.3 based is very stable and fast.
Sent from my LG G2x using Tapatalk
I would also recommend one of the Eagle's Blood or Phoenix Blood Variants. Quick and stable. Good Luck!
Phoenix blood 1.4 no special kernels...
Yeah, I have tried then all and ever since nightly 201 from cyanogen...the CM 7 build have been the best

Get the one with the shoulder thing that goes up...
I've been using Weapon 2.6 since the day it was released. I also need WiFi calling.
Just install the LG cam 3.0 add-on and your set. I can also confirm that HDMI works nicely.
FWIW; I'v installed every iteration of Weapon as it was released. V 2.6 is the most stable for me.
I just got done trying the wajkui, and it worked pretty damn good. CM 7 worked pretty well for me too, and I have finally moved on to Bionix. It is all about finding which rom works best for you. Download a rom and try it out for a week, and flash another until you find what works. There are so many people who have made great roms, I am starting to get addicted to flashing one rom for a week and flashing another one the next week.
Bionix works really, really well for me and it's in active development. I've had good and bad experiences with Weapon, and I've also tried Tsugi and MIUI. So far Bionix has been the best for me. Good battery life, very responsive and most recently no random reboots.
If youre looking for straight style, go with MIUI. It looks great and theres plenty of very smooth themes out there I use a custom port called Singh-UI, its a bit more stable.
If youre looking for more customizations, go with CM7 Nightlies or Phoenixblood
I have tried all but right now I think the best two are Singh or WajkIUI both are MIUI ports.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Phoenix Blood is what I am using now. Was using Weapon because I thought no other ROM could match it's battery life and stability. This was after trying MIUI ports, CM7, etc. Phoenix Blood is stable, smooth, and I EASILY get a full day out of it with pretty heavy use. But, it all depends on what you are looking for, stylistically I mean.
Phoenix blood runs great on my phone, with very few bugs, it also gets frequent updates
I've only flashed CM7S, so i can't compare it to anything. I figure if it ain't broke, don't fix it! But I'm using CM7s latest nightly with faux123s CM OC/UV v0.4.8 kernel. I like all themes there are for CM7. Oh, and of course the great performance and awesome battery life I'm getting is good too. Best thing to do would be, backup and flash a new ROM every week or so and see which is better

[Q] BEST MIUI ROM (+Kernel?) for our G2x - for those who have tried - which one?

Hi.
Many of you forum members have power in your hands (or brains). You have tested a number of MIUI ROMs and know which one got you closer to the "ideal". Speed, battery, and stability.
So if I may address you good people, which one is the best MIUI ROM for our crappy, yet beloved, G2x?
Thanks
RG2x plus Trinity battery saver kernel work very well for me. Super smooth and my battery lasts all day.
Edit: RG2x link. You can find Trinity kernel in my signature.

+1 for SINGH-UI MIUI with the Trinity ELP Kernel. Smooth, fewer strange app FC's/crashes than Faux, and good battery life.
I've been using SINGH on my phone and my wife is using Richie's RG2X MIUI. Both of those are smooth and well taken care of. Flash away and you won't be disappointed. Both is pretty snappy with either faux's kernel our with trinity. I prefer faux battery life wise.

After Rootzwiki with Whitehawkx...
RG2x v2.3.2 w/Faux Kernel (Tried Trinity but it seemed on my phone to drain battery faster even with calibrated battery, just see what your phone likes)
Check sig for full specs.
RG2x was very smooth but drained battery very fast.
Stock MIUI w/ Trinity was very smooth as well, good battery life, but got too many random reboots.
Singh-UI is working best for me. Everything i tried worked, including gps, usb/wireless tethering, themes, etc. I'm using the repacked trinity T15 kernel with it.
i like sigh miui because richies rom isnt zipaligned. Also, he. forgot to change the default read ahead for sd card. Sighn has it at 2048 abd richie has it at default 128.
among other little things that are minor if your not a power user...

I have tried both RG2X and SINGH, both awesome ROMs, however I favor SINGH because his is more consistent; a couple of times RG2X forgot to fix bugs in updates ect. The "root" of SINGH's ROM comes from Mark over at MIUI. Mark has been cooking MIUI since it first came out, that should give you a good idea. None the less, both good devs that listen to their "testers".

Hellfire or Eagle (ICS)

Which one are you using??
I tried both but haven't seen a difference on either..
But overall there are some things that aren't working that made me go back to my previous rom.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I had a lot of FC's on Hellfire's initial build, tried the second version, it was a bit better but then switched to EB's version and everything seems to work. I also installed the latest Faux kernel to save on battery.
both have issues at the moment. remember this is just an alpha build so you will have issues. just give it about 2 - 3 months. right now i'm using HF GB 1.9. it is soooooooooo smooth that i haven't wanted to reflash ICS. IMO HF 1.9 is clearly the best GB ROM out there. also HFS was stable when I had it. I didn't have any issues with it. no FC or anything other than just the normal stuff not working.
I have been running HFS for several days now and it has been running very smoothly for an Alpha release. Looking forward to updates in the near future.
Have any of you tried self kang 3? Not to through the topic off course.
I think HFS is most stable of the two.
I have tried both. Right now, I prefer EB but that is just my preference. They are both fine roms.
Right now i just like the look of EB over HF
Hadn't tried Hellfire but I'm using eglesblood. Using it because don has more experience with ics cuz he has the nexus an everyone seems to like his rom on the gnex. Not saying it to bash hell, just that has less experience but I can see hell has a lot of potential.

HFS v.1.1
Haven't tried EB ICS, but am very happy with HFS. I've had no problems since I flashed it when it came out. My phone has an uptime of 4.5 days without a FC or glitch. Right now it's my daily driver till v1.2 comes out.
PartzMan2
Phone: Rooted G2x
Rom: HFS v1.1
OC: 1200 Mhz
I'm using eb right now because its the most stable atm. I'm a big fan of hell's work so as soon as its as smooth as hellfire , I'm flashing It.

I just installed EB and it's pretty much perfect. Runs smooth as hell, and I love the new ICS stuff. I am having a huge issue with not being able to get any data connection though. I've read and re-read through the pages of the original post but couldn't find anyone mentioning this issue. I have tried to manually add the apn and it doesn't seem to save the settings. Has anyone else had this issue with EB? Does anyone have a simple fix for this issue?
Thanks for reading.
Both great
Both roms are great, ive used em both and currently running HFS, I wish the camera would get sorted out soon otherwise they are both pretty great.
Hello, everyone!
I have nothing but love for the HellFire ICS ROM, and have been using Hell's ROMs since Hellfire Phoenix 1.5.
I used EB for a while a few months back, but preferred the CM7 UI and stayed with that until I first tried the Hellfire ROMs.
I've noticed that EB ICS rom lags a bit when I hit the app drawer, not really a big deal, but gets annoying sometimes, I'm not sure if its the same for Hellfire?
