[Q] BEST MIUI ROM (+Kernel?) for our G2x - for those who have tried - which one? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hi.
Many of you forum members have power in your hands (or brains). You have tested a number of MIUI ROMs and know which one got you closer to the "ideal". Speed, battery, and stability.
So if I may address you good people, which one is the best MIUI ROM for our crappy, yet beloved, G2x?
Thanks

RG2x plus Trinity battery saver kernel work very well for me. Super smooth and my battery lasts all day.
Edit: RG2x link. You can find Trinity kernel in my signature.

I used Singh-UI, it was quite smooth. w/Trinity kernel
Also works well with cm7 kernel, and improved my battery life by a bit

+1 for SINGH-UI MIUI with the Trinity ELP Kernel. Smooth, fewer strange app FC's/crashes than Faux, and good battery life.

I've been using SINGH on my phone and my wife is using Richie's RG2X MIUI. Both of those are smooth and well taken care of. Flash away and you won't be disappointed. Both is pretty snappy with either faux's kernel our with trinity. I prefer faux battery life wise.

After Rootzwiki with Whitehawkx...
RG2x v2.3.2 w/Faux Kernel (Tried Trinity but it seemed on my phone to drain battery faster even with calibrated battery, just see what your phone likes)
Check sig for full specs.

RG2x was very smooth but drained battery very fast.
Stock MIUI w/ Trinity was very smooth as well, good battery life, but got too many random reboots.
Singh-UI is working best for me. Everything i tried worked, including gps, usb/wireless tethering, themes, etc. I'm using the repacked trinity T15 kernel with it.

i like sigh miui because richies rom isnt zipaligned. Also, he. forgot to change the default read ahead for sd card. Sighn has it at 2048 abd richie has it at default 128.
among other little things that are minor if your not a power user...

I have tried both RG2X and SINGH, both awesome ROMs, however I favor SINGH because his is more consistent; a couple of times RG2X forgot to fix bugs in updates ect. The "root" of SINGH's ROM comes from Mark over at MIUI. Mark has been cooking MIUI since it first came out, that should give you a good idea. None the less, both good devs that listen to their "testers".

If u want performance and really good battery life go with nscollab. If u want nightly updates go with cm7 if u want performance and eye candy go with miui. I bounce around nscollab and miui. Best roms in my opinion. I would also recommend tsm pool party. Great rom.?

As a user of all 3 roms, here are my thoughts.
Nightly flashes are cool because you get to see new updates , but there is a higher chance things will berak as they are not tested much.
NScollab is updated slowly, but it was really stable for me when i used it, so when i wanted to use my phone as a.. err, phone? I used NScollab.
Right now i am on MIUI Brainmasers edition, and it is perfect for me.
It gets weekly updates with a nice clean changelog (CM7 Changelog anyone? :O) and they are usually pretty stable.
The UI change is refreshing, nto to mention extra hidden features (prox support, map static ip address to network etc)
I bounce back and forth between MIUI weeklies and CM7 nightlies. Right now I'm on CM7.1 #228 with either matr1x or netarchy kernels. MIUI looks really nice, and is CM based, so I guess it's basically the same under the hood.
i've tried miui, both the official and brainmaster's mod (which is definitely the better of the two), both savage and deck's roms, pete's rom, cyanogen, and oxygen. . .
and i have to say i'm severely disappointed that i only recently found out about a little hidden gem called carbon. i say hidden because i check these forums regularly and never saw any mention of it until this past sunday. if you've never run it, you'll be pleased that you did.

CarbonCO2 = Oxygen 2.3.1 with ICS theme.
I use CarbonCO2 because I like the blue battery and status bar icons, and all the other theme-ing. You won't find a ROM more stable than Oxygen/Carbon and they have a great balance of performance, battery life and features. Your phone will not reboot or freeze.
I highly recommend MIUI (esp. Brainmaster's MOD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181050) with morfic's Trinity Kernel.
I've been on CM7, NSCollab, and a handful of other ROMs, and ended up with MIUI. Usually, I found MIUI to be a tad slower than other roms, but for some reason, Brainmaster's seems super snappy.
However, all of the above are super-duper well made roms. And it'd probably be best for you to try em all, just to see how amazing all of these devs are

[Q] MIUI or CM7 or Weapon G2x

Which one are you Running / Why?
Please Leave your Feedback , and vote
Weapon. I tried CM7 and the camera plainly sucked. You need the LG cam to take advantage of the 8mp/1080p camera. MIUI is based on CM7 so the same applies.
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
Weapon. I like everything about it and it's the fastest smoothest rom I've tried out of the 3 you listed.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
CyanogenMod... Fastest ROM hands down. OC/UV kernels, so many customizations. Theme Chooser. CM settings. Camera works great for me.
Weapon IV tried the others listed but weapon by far runs the smoothest and fastest for me

Bionix and Faux Rom
I'm really enjoying the CM7 with Faux 4.7 Kernal.
However, I do admit, the camera for the CM7 is butt compared to the original one. I have a T2i so it doesn't matter CM7 hands down, is the fastest ROM I've experienced. 7605 on Antutu
Just switched to Weapon G2x from EaglesBlood and it feels like I just got a new phone! Way better battery life, it's faster and less crashes.
I'm liking Weapon G2X with faux's kernel though I feel like getting used to CM7 because I'm flashing CM9 as soon as its available. At the same time I love weapon. It is so easy to use and the toggles on the slide down bar are convenient.
Sent from my G2X
Went back to Weapon 3.0 today after playing with Bionix and several Miui versions the past weekend. Everything just works. Fast, smooth, predictable. never crashes or hangs up. BT works great. Terrific battery life! An incredible Rom! Only downside is no more updates unless someone else takes over the Rom.
Chalk another one up for Weapon.
"All these noobs hatin' on my weapon when all they've ever run is C M 7."
have you guys tried SinghUI? i think its amazing so far for me atleast... i was on weapon which was great too!!
Definitely hands down weapon...everything pails in comparison. Paired with faux123 re-packed kernel the bootime is way faster and the rom is just incredibly smooth.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
My boot time is actually slower with the new kernel? It used to boot up very quickly. Strange.. Either way it's a great kernel.
Sent from my G2X
dependson what you like.
speedwise - weapon
looks- miui.
battery wise, weapon and miui is the same from my experience.
cm7 is just out of the picture. used it, didnt like it. doesnt look too good and battery drains fast.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
for me actually i get the best battery life with miui :/ with weapon i got around 10-12 hours of usage, with MIUI with CM7 7.2 Kernel i get easily around 15-20hours of good usage.
Weapon - amazing battery life and fits my philosophy - if it ain't broken, don't fix it (not very popular in XDA).

ROM Recommendation please?

I haven't rooted/modded in awhile. I used to just use CM7 when I first got the phone. I've gone through 3 replacements now and have yet to mod it. Can you guys recommend the best ROM for the specifics I'm looking for?
-Has to have wifi calling (this is a must i barely get 1 bar to no svc in my apartment)
-has to record in 1080
-has to have HDMI working
Please let me know which ROM you'd recommend? I'm tired of the stock always getting the black screen of death and the random reboots. Tmobile said they can't exchange it anymore. Thanks!
Phoenixblood

NVIDIA NEVER AGAIN!
Weapon or Tsugi. Love weapon G2x because it is really stable amd has great toggles. Tsugi is great also but i really want the toggles.
Sent from my G2X
Ran 2.3.3 eaglesblood for the longest and it was very stable, but I really like voodoo and the faux123 kernel for ota based roms kept freezing and rebooting my phone worse than the stock ROM/kernel and it took forever to reboot due to the cache rebuild issue. Then I tried RG2x MIUI and loved it but had too many bugs...plus MIUI has a bit of a learning curve to it. Now I'm on phoenixblood 1.4 with faux123 cm7 based kernel and so far everything is great. Only been a couple days but so far fast, smooth and stable!
If you don't care about overclocking or voodoo sound, then eaglesblood 2.3.3 based is very stable and fast.
Sent from my LG G2x using Tapatalk
I would also recommend one of the Eagle's Blood or Phoenix Blood Variants. Quick and stable. Good Luck!
Phoenix blood 1.4 no special kernels...
Yeah, I have tried then all and ever since nightly 201 from cyanogen...the CM 7 build have been the best

Get the one with the shoulder thing that goes up...
I've been using Weapon 2.6 since the day it was released. I also need WiFi calling.
Just install the LG cam 3.0 add-on and your set. I can also confirm that HDMI works nicely.
FWIW; I'v installed every iteration of Weapon as it was released. V 2.6 is the most stable for me.
I just got done trying the wajkui, and it worked pretty damn good. CM 7 worked pretty well for me too, and I have finally moved on to Bionix. It is all about finding which rom works best for you. Download a rom and try it out for a week, and flash another until you find what works. There are so many people who have made great roms, I am starting to get addicted to flashing one rom for a week and flashing another one the next week.
Bionix works really, really well for me and it's in active development. I've had good and bad experiences with Weapon, and I've also tried Tsugi and MIUI. So far Bionix has been the best for me. Good battery life, very responsive and most recently no random reboots.
If youre looking for straight style, go with MIUI. It looks great and theres plenty of very smooth themes out there I use a custom port called Singh-UI, its a bit more stable.
If youre looking for more customizations, go with CM7 Nightlies or Phoenixblood
I have tried all but right now I think the best two are Singh or WajkIUI both are MIUI ports.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Phoenix Blood is what I am using now. Was using Weapon because I thought no other ROM could match it's battery life and stability. This was after trying MIUI ports, CM7, etc. Phoenix Blood is stable, smooth, and I EASILY get a full day out of it with pretty heavy use. But, it all depends on what you are looking for, stylistically I mean.
Phoenix blood runs great on my phone, with very few bugs, it also gets frequent updates
I've only flashed CM7S, so i can't compare it to anything. I figure if it ain't broke, don't fix it! But I'm using CM7s latest nightly with faux123s CM OC/UV v0.4.8 kernel. I like all themes there are for CM7. Oh, and of course the great performance and awesome battery life I'm getting is good too. Best thing to do would be, backup and flash a new ROM every week or so and see which is better

I did a clean install of Weapon. Rebooted and let it sit for 10 minutes. Rebooted again and let it sit. Then I flash New Clip and let it sit for a bit. New Clip flashes over Weapon. Then I flashed my favorite theme. Stayed with the kernel that comes with it. I have never had great luck with alternative kernels and I really have no need for overclocking.
Kwes has an ICS like theme that looks great. Then I added ADW ex and loaded an ICS theme for it. I am very happy with the setup. Been running it this way for several months.
I have been playing around with the V6 Super Charger script but for whatever reason I seem to run out of memory faster when web surfing. I am still learning about everything it does, so I am not 100% sure that it is set up correctly for my needs.

Using latest version of Eaglesblood with faux kernel. It's stable, and battery life is awesome. I'm not into ROM swapping. When find one that works, I stick with it, and it's looking like I'll be with this one for a while. Maybe when an ICS ROM gets refined, I'll give it a go. I would like to have Chrome on the android.
Using CM 7.2 RC1 with faux ds kernel. I get about thirteen hours of medium use, light use lasts a couple of days.
It's a great stock rom without the problems of LG based ones.

Actually looks fine. But I notice more stutter than before, perhaps the ICS animation is bogging it some down.
Still a fan of CM7/Cm9.
I can honestly say, I'm sticking to the G2X despite having a Galaxy GS2. I truely enjoy the Cyanogen ROMS and can't wait for it to come CM9 on G2X and GS2
Also that Samsung is too big. Should have waited. Not sure I'll get any device over 4 inch screen. But thats me

Nobody can tell you which Kernel will work best for whatever ROM you wish to use it for because even though we have the 'same' phone, they are not all equally built. What may work with amazing battery life and performance to one person, might be terribly sluggish with terrible battery life for the next person. The only real way to tell which ROM+Kernel combo works best for your phone is to try every Kernel you think your phone 'likes'. Whether we all want to admit it or not, that is probably the best way.
Hope this helped, Good luck!

I recently installed the Trinity Kernel and I don't really feel like I see a difference in my phone. I feel like my battery has shown no improvement. I installed the ti5 one but maybe I'll try the ELP one instead to see if I get anything different. I'm really looking for longer battery life. I used the phone theses days for about 30min of music a day (subway ride) and browsing here and there. Turned all syncing and app notifications off.
Check out the attached photos. I've seen screenshots of people with bar graphs showing their device at the top way ahead of everyone else.
