We are developing our own SIP phone application in WP7. We planned to use Native Contacts of WP7, but instead use our own screen design for the added features like Presence etc. We can access the data using Microsoft.Phone.UserData.Contacts but we are not able to Save, Edit or Delete. Are theres API's to perform those tasks?

Hi everyone, I want to backup my contacts and the native 2.1 contact manager has a function to export my countacts but the .vcf don't actually keep the category structure that I so painstakingly setup or the contact photos that I gathered. In the iPhone, it is a simple question of getting two sqlite files that have the contacts and images in them and substituting it in your next device. Would anyone be able to tell where I could find this files??
I'm running a root t-mobile vibrant /w bionix.
Also, please let me know if you know something more functional the stock contact manager app: ie. with proper import/export and and sync functions that retains categories and contact images.
i can't post links, to find your sqlite db files try googling:
how to poke around the sqlite3 databases
And for a better contact manager google:
komodo contacts
Generally this is done via gmail. Add the pics etc to your contacts and place them in groups via gmail then no matter what phone you use these will always be there.
You can them export them as a backup to your pc etc
Is it possible to create a custom contact list for WP7?
Meaning: I have an application which should show all the contacts in the phone, along with some additional groups which the phone has discovered, and are not saved in the phone(and don't necessary want to save them either).
I don't think there is any api to do that right now. Mango adds some access to the contacts list http://www.windowsphonegeek.com/news/wp7-coming-in-mangoquery-the-contacts-list
Hi all,
Making this post with a totally frustrated mind. I am looking for an app which will allow me to select few contacts and export them to csv or any other format which can be imported latter. Tried several apps. Not even single one does the job.! Please suggest an application which does this job.
OR
I am even ready to remove my unwanted crappy contacts. But still can't find an app which allows me to select multiple contacts and remove them together.!
I am wondering years older Android lacks this feature.
I am on Android 5.0+ AOSP ROM. Device is nexus 4 (I know it doesn't matter. Just saying)
Any idea about this ?

Why aren't you using the build-in contact app? You can select several contacts to delete/export them by pressing the menu button and selecting the delete/export button and then selecting contacts.
What I'm looking for is an app or maybe even a launcher that would allow me to have a contained area for all of my work apps and any other logins separate from my personal stuff on the same phone. Preferably it would just be a home screen that I could manually launch and it would have a copy of say outlook word xcel excera that would use a specific accounts
On iPhone, the clipboard retains data only for about 20 minutes, and there is no concept of clipboard history.
On Android, different OEMs have different implementations. Samsung has a very neat clipboard history feature that allows one to copy something quickly and paste it elsewhere.
Here is the problem:
The clipboard retains the last copied item until the phone is rebooted. This allows any app that can access clipboard to see what is there, and may be keep a record of it too in its own data (although I don't think this is possible unless the user manually pastes it somewhere).
HOW CLIPBOARD SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED
1. Clipboard should be automatically erased by the OS every 20 minutes or so.
2. Clipboard Access should be a setting and users should be able to allow/ deny access per app (just like they can for other permissions like Camera, Microphone, etc.).
3. Clipboard History should be retained in a secure encrypted storage, so user can access it whenever he wants. No app should have access to the history. User must manually copy it each time it is required.
Use ColorNote to retain copies and hyperlinks. Auto backup to SD card or cloud.
I use it to store bookmarks as well.

That requires me to create a note each time, which is not convenient. Hope you're aware of the restrictions with clipboard starting with Android Q. I welcome this move to block clipboard monitoring by 3rd party apps.
If the OS allows to keep clipboard history, it should ensure no apps have access to it without user intervention.

Clipboard works ok on Q... scoped storage sucks. For those who think they can install anything they want rather than being careful what they install. No saving dumb bunnies... they always end up dead.
