I relise this is a question but it is very theme related.
I think so. Can you give more information on what you want it to do or look like?

Lol I didnt want to explain it like this because I dont want to offend the developer at all. Basicly with launcher pro (another great launcher not as good as ADW in my mind but another great launcher none the less) you can actually load your own created dock bars or dock bars someone else created. So basicly can you cusomize the lower dock bar? I know you can change it from 5 icons to 3 icons but other then that can you actually change the dock bar background?
Sorry I dont exactly know how else to explain it.
i think the best you can do is hold down the app drawer button for a few seconds and then swipe up. it'll change to an OSX style launcher bar with mini icons of whatever shortcuts you place on it. took me forever to figure it out after seeing it in the screenshots.

You can set up swipe up and down guestures too. Yeah I know about this bar I actually store my quick contacts down under there.
He's talking about the separate dock background, not the actual dock.So you have a wallpaper, and then a separate small dock wallpaper too.

I am talking about the Dock the clear bar at the bottom of the screen that holds 3 to 5 icons. Not the hidden dock underneath the dock or just the clear bar.

when i do this my dock just disappears! why? how do i get it back besides rebooting my droidx?
ADW vs. LauncherPro..... um.... keeps me up at night.
I like both devs... I like the fact ADW is open source and has themes, and sometimes I feel like using the sideways drawer. But LP has great customization options like the dock theming, and now has some really well done widgets.
Nice to have a hard time choosing between two great choices.

Set something to change it. It is possible to access it, and not have anything set to turn it off.
In the settings for ADW you can either have it close after opening an item from it, or set one of the swipe gestures to bring it up and down.

You sir just blew my mind.
Sent from me to you via the interwebs.
I actually have the opening and closing of the second dock tied to my home button. I love it. To any of you that don't know how to open the second dock, you long press the regular dock and swipe up.you'll see little up arrows when you long press pointing in the direction you should swipe. When you do that and you think it's just hiding your dock, it's not. Drag an icon that area and see what happens.

Also, I did this part through the home button binding setting in the awd settings menu.

I never knew about the second dockbar in ADW. This changes almost everything layout wise for me. Also, I found a great setting under ADW. Auto close dockbar after application launch, will bring your original bar up after application launch. Pretty cool tip guys thanks alot!

I never knew about the 2nd hidden dock bar either. Sweet! That has really helped to clean up my homescreens, getting rid of most of the clutter.
Something I'm still trying to figure out on ADW though... is it possible to change the actual dock? Not the dock icons, but the dock itself. Launcher pro has a page with tons of user submitted docks you can use, was just curious if i could do this with ADW. I'm thinking there has to be a way, because I've installed some ADW themes from the market and they actually changed the dock as well... just need to figure out how without having to install a theme.
I'm also looking for a way to change the dock bar background. A work-around you can do is just apply a bar to the bottom of your wallpaper. However, this only works if you want a dockbar that is the same all the way across.
i thought i already replied to this thread. there is a complete guide on customizing the adw dock bar in the link below.

This doesn't tell you how to change the dock background; probably because you can't without a using a theme.
It is possible to change the dockbar background without changing themes...but it's not nearly as trivial as with Launcher Pro and I believe your phone must be rooted. I have succesfully used Ninjamorph to dynamically swap out the drawable resources in the ADWLauncher apk file which make-up the dock background. Unlike LauncherPro, which uses a single image as a background, the ADWLauncher background is made up of multiple images corresponding to the right, middle, and left action buttons (in both their selected and unselected forms). I was able to replicate one of my preferred LauncherPro docks by using photoshop to slice the image into its right, middle, and left components, and then injecting those images into the apk file with Ninjamorph. The end result was a dockbar identical to the LauncherPro dockbar...but it was quite a bit of effort to get there. Not very practical if you like to frequently switch your dock (though once you've broken the dock down into it's components, it's not too bad switching between them). Theoretically, it would also be possible to change the background for the hidden alternate dockbar using this approach, though I"ve not attempted this.
I too would love to see an easier way to customize the ADW Launcher dock without applying a completely new theme or resorting to using Ninjamorph. After the recent releases of ADW, that's the one remaining thing from LauncherPro that I really miss when I use ADWLauncher. Maybe that's a feature which will show up in the new "EX" version soon.
you can always just unpack the adw apk and change the png then repack/sign and push it to your phone
In case you have not noticed - the Sense 3.0 Lockscrren on out Sensations now has additional functionality.
To unlock the phone you drag the grey circle upwards. But you can also tap and drag one of the 4 icons (phone, mail, web, camera) and move them into the middle of the circle and you then jump right to that function.
I find that kinda neat, and of couse it opens the question - can we add custom icons / apps to this quicklauncher and if so how is this done?
Also, there seems to be a reproducible bug with the camera, at least in my phone. When I launch it likedescribed above it starts the camera app (i see the stuff the cam ispointing at in the display) but it lacksallof the control buttons. Is this hapening with your versions too or isitmaybe already fixed?
You're kidding, right?

Personalize -->Lock screen-->go to the lock screen you want and choose settings - tap app icon to change shortcuts
I was laughing at this then realized I have a question about the lockscreen too! Don't wanna start a new thread. So when you have an alternate launcher, you lose the ability to access the "personalize" section of the settings, which is where you change the lockscreen icons and ****. Now, to change the lockscreen type or icons, I need to disable Launcher Pro's defaults and use the Sense launcher. I don't change it often, so no biggie. But is there a way to change the lockscreen outside of the Sense launcher?

tj - just pull down the notification bar and go to all settings - personalize is at the top then mod your lockscreen
the only settings available is the htc modified version - thats why car home is blacklisted because if you try to pull up settings it crashes - doesn't care for the HTC version

See, with Launcher Pro at least, when I hit that Personalize button it just closes settings and throws me back to the homescreen. No FC or anything, I just go to my homescreen. Can anyone with an alternate launcher confirm this behavior for me? Is it just Launcher Pro, or maybe even just my device?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
okay i see what you mean
zeam and launcher pro do the same thing if you select them to open personalize
you have to use sense to launch personalize
if you don't get prompted to choose between lpro and sense when you click personalize just clear the launcher pro defaults and next time you can choose sense. shouldnt make that big of a deal since sense will just get dropped once youre back in launcher pro
I have the camera bug also...

from what i can pull out of the OP's message, I think he was saying a bug where the lock screen will show the icons and background but also be displaying the image from the camera.
I first noticed this when I was using Barcode Scanner, left the app running, locked the phone, and then hit the unlock button. the normal lock screen would appear faded and then the live camera image. pretty cool looking i think
I can reproduce this
Almost got it with anycut - create a shortcut by long pressing the screen from whatever launcher you want then choose activity - scroll down and choose the second personalize listed - there should be three. the lock screen settings are there and load fine without crashing only problem is that your lockscreen will change to a theme but the icons on the lockscreen don't switch. I think if you tried out all thet settings options in anycut you could do it.
With HC on my Xoom, when scrolling throught the app drawer, all I had were apps. With ICS, if I scroll past the end of the apps, it brings me into the widgets that if I tap them, will add to the home screen.
Is there any way to prevent this?
I guess what I'm asking is... With ICS how do I prevent my 3yr old son from being able to scrolling too far in the app drawer and ending up in the widget section where he is adding stuff to the home screens?

googling this just then... if your using cm9 the trebuchet launcher for cm9 doesnt seems to have the ability to lock the desktop (ie not add anything to home screens) see trebuchet features: http://geekprison.com/4472-download-cm9-cyanogenmod-9-trebuchet-launcher-for-android-4-0-3/
using a launcher such as adw ex... you can not only lock the desktop to stop ya boy from adding stuff, adding widgets uses a long press of the screen so the app list remains widget free
hope this helps
So 3rd party launcher is the only way?
and I guess I'm not as worried about adding stuff to the home screen, as he is getting to the widgets, tapping, and not understanding what its doing so he gets frustrated... unlike when he scrolls through apps, and taps, they launch.
okay, so the Android market has a good few camera apps. some amazing, some... never to be mentioned.
but Imagine HTC's One X Camera app. Photo and video button at same time.
Now imagine a Google Goggles Button, and a QR button, even facebook and twitter buttons. each button linking directly to that service. thats what i hope to achieve with this app.
the attachments are rough ideas for layout, open them; then read on.
"main"
shows the default screen, this shows when you open the camera.
"secondary"
if you leave the icons and don't touch the screen the other icons sink away till only a little bit pokes out.
"scroll"
the icons are scrollable, there might be Twitter and Facebook icons hidden away so scroll the icons up or down to get them. also the icons loop so you can scroll infinitely in one direction and the icons will just keep looping around. the middle app is highlighted by making it slightly bigger, then shrinking it as another app is scrolled into the middle
the setting icon will reveal the usual photo/video settings and some app specific ones too. pressing the icon in the middle will engage it.
if your a coder and you wanna help me, if you have some cool ideas or know of an app that does this already then let me know.
You see it's not that big different from app drawer if you don't put widget on it
I never use it my screen is always on app drawer
Well i will use home screen if app drawer have black background
Google play even automatically make icons on home screen for you
I set auto put to home screen off and remove all apps on my home screen afterward
Then i remove widget too i don't see any point of using clock widget if there's already one on my notification
So what's the point of home screen?
Just app drawer duplicated with widget?
btw stock touchwiz launcher

Do whatever you want with it. This is Android, after all, not iOS.
That's what makes us different than IOS Haha
