HTC Sensation - Sense error - HTC Sensation

hi , i have a problem , after closing application or game HTC SENCE reloads and a few seconds i can't do anything with the phone. When I open Settings- Applications-HTC sence-Clear cache this problem gone for one day and after that it comes again. Please help!

Is the phone stock or modified? Have you tried a full reset as detailed in the user manual?

Try using a theme that's not provided by htc

When the phone runs out of RAM memory (typically big game or app can do this), it starts shutting down other large apps that are in the background. Sense is the biggest app on the phone.
So when you kill the game/app, Sense has to reload into memory before you can use it again. It takes a while to load up (because it's a big honkin' piece of software).
This is normal android behavior.

and also another reason HTC should put more RAM on their phones....

There is a setting to change the amount of ram used before it frees up automatically.I have mine set to 10%

Root your phone and use a custom Rom. Or cut down on your installed apps and uninstall some things. That should help

Icons turning to default after reboot?

Everytime I reboot my icons change to the green uploading icons and not to the normal ones. I have to manually remove them and add them again. Another thing i've notices is once in a while distorted horizontal lines appear across some apps. They will not go away most of the time unless I reboot.?
Sometimes my widgets get colored lines in it and i have to reboot to. My.contacts app disappear and turn into to people app all on its on til i reboot. Hope they fix these issues but no updates in site tmobile and phone companies have bad service.

I have the same problem but it only happens with a few specific games every time. It's annoying but I've just stopped fixing it and leave them as the android icon.
Mine was doing this for SD installed apps... Solved in the last update however...
Change the theme and back to restore the icons... marginally better than deleting and re-adding
You could also change the language, go to the main page, change the language back to what is was and it'll solve the problem.
move the apps that are loosing it's icons from sd to internal memory.
few of my games were doing this on reboot.
soon as I moved them to internal, no more problems.
kinda sucks that we can't take advantage of app2sd feature that comes with some of apps but until we get an update that fixes this bug, this is the only sure way I've found.

Yep, that fixed it after a restart. Why do some games install on the phone and some on SD? There doesn't seem to be any consistency.

I don't think apps install on the SD unless specified. As for the icons changing on reboot. This has been a problem on Android since apps to SD was implemented.

I'm having the same problem as well with my game icons.
That worked, Thanks!
My Facebook app on my main screen does the same thing -- I do have it moved to the SD card. Randomly the correct icon/logo appears on it, but most of the time it's the generic Android icon. I've learned to live with it -- maybe they'll fix it someday.
My icons return after a reboot, when I turn the phone off/on.
Got a 5 min wait for new user to post...

I tried this and it didn't work, until I realized that there were two Sense applications running and I killed the wrong one...D'oh!
I tried to force stop HTC sense and dashboard.... none of this worked.
So I tried changing the theme and IT WORKED!!!! When I restored my previous theme, all the icons went back to normal.
This the easiest non-frustrating method. From time to time, my phone crashes and restarts by itself and all my icons would change.
Has anyone tried using Rom Manager and run "fix permissions" with any luck?

It is not a permissions issue. It is quite simple.. the desktop icons are loaded before the sd card is mounted and accessible so it can't load the icons and won't retry later. Causing sense to reload in any way after the SD card is mounted will reload the icons. Changing themes works. Killing sense to force a reload works. Using titanium backup to freeze/unfreeze any of the sense Widgets works. I'm sure there are plenty more ways of making sense reload

[Q] After exiting browsing - FC\RESTART occuring

As I wrote, after I exit the browser, for example, dolphin hd, even though it happened to me in SKYFIRE and with XSCOPE.Just when I'm exiting FC (I think it is called) ot restart[?!] appears to me a white screen with green lettering of HTC and then it goes main table and takes a while for things to catch up.
Why does this happen?
What can I do?
I have SENSATION TMOBILE 4G, Android 2.3.4 Sense 3. Stock rom.
Thanks in advance
Are you using any memory apps? Have you been pressing home instead of exiting the app?Do you have millions of SMS? All of these are possible causes...
Its down to memory allocation,Forces HTC Sense out of memory (OOM) if you use spare parts apk you can set it to the lowest preset (opposite to aggressive) and it should fix it

memory apps? i have "easy task killer " and advanced task killer"
i'm exiting thruogh the "exit" option .
there is no millions of sms , only about 20 [new phone ]
So download spare parts and do what you write?
Your sensation kills the home screen cuz it needed ram... There are probably too many apps running in the background

Try not to use task killers because they actually waste battery life by killing tasks that have a service which enables them again anyway, causing more battery drain as the service and app is restarted

OK
i'll uninstall them.
BTW - should I use the stock task manager?
Is there anything else I can do to avoid that again?
Don't use any task manager,if you really want to kill apps then use HTCs one built in to sense

I set my background process limit to 1 but apps still run in the background

Not that I'm complaining about that but I thought setting to 1 would close apps when I leave it and open another. But I can go to one app and go to another and switch back and the app will still be left the same. I have to set it to 1 or 2 because my browser freezes when I have it set to 4 or to standard limit for some reason. It still does it with my process limit low but just less frequently.

its better if u not use that as ICS has a builtin function that stops the app as soon as u leave it , u wll see no difference weather u keep 1 or NON
Then why does it seem my browser freezes more when I have it set to standard limit?

[Q] Sense CONSTANTLY redrawing/refreshing the homescreen

Please help because this is getting annoying on my phone. Everytime i leave sense by opening an app or a game and come back to sense (closing the app or pressing home) sense has to redraw with the 'loading' thing and the circle spinning. it also shows that i have 140mb of free memory left.... please help.
That's a side effect of HTC's over aggressive memory management. Flash a ROM that tweaks the memory settings like CleanROM and you'll never have to deal with it again.

Third-Party Apps.

Does installing third party app uses RAM?
Example, I installed GO Launcher to replace my STOCK Launcher. Does it use RAM EVEN IF I DON'T USE MY STOCK LAUNCHER?
Sent from my GT-S7500
Apps only use ram when they are launched. Once they have been running if you press the home button the app will stay in ram to make it easy to quickly go back to it.
Once your ram gets close to being full android kills off apps to free space for new ones launched

When I took a look at the Task Manager. It displays nothing. (Meaning I'm not running anything)
But when I clear RAM from 300 to 100+, my third party apps RELOAD. My keyboard reverts back to yhe SAMSUNG Keyboard. But my RAM became 200+, so, are there apps running in the background that I don't need?

Its best just to leave ram mangerment to android and not use any task mangers. If you need extra ram e.g. With a big game android will clear enough ram for it
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Android surely do not waste RAM. Leave it as it is now. If there would be ram needed, you will get it. If you want to be sure that stock luncher is off just delete it with root. But i recomend having two lunchers, because when one have some troubled you can use second one.
