Third-Party Apps. - General Questions and Answers

Does installing third party app uses RAM?
Example, I installed GO Launcher to replace my STOCK Launcher. Does it use RAM EVEN IF I DON'T USE MY STOCK LAUNCHER?

Apps only use ram when they are launched. Once they have been running if you press the home button the app will stay in ram to make it easy to quickly go back to it.
Once your ram gets close to being full android kills off apps to free space for new ones launched

When I took a look at the Task Manager. It displays nothing. (Meaning I'm not running anything)
But when I clear RAM from 300 to 100+, my third party apps RELOAD. My keyboard reverts back to yhe SAMSUNG Keyboard. But my RAM became 200+, so, are there apps running in the background that I don't need?

Its best just to leave ram mangerment to android and not use any task mangers. If you need extra ram e.g. With a big game android will clear enough ram for it

Android surely do not waste RAM. Leave it as it is now. If there would be ram needed, you will get it. If you want to be sure that stock luncher is off just delete it with root. But i recomend having two lunchers, because when one have some troubled you can use second one.

Asking for simple help with task manager

I'm running on completely stock gingerbread... and I noticed that since doing the upgrade from froyo the new stock manager doesn't really close backround apps..
Example: I go into the stock manager to close apps and it shows only 2 running when I have plenty more... OK so I exit them... then go to free ram... and it frees some ram... now I go to stock browser and it still displays my last webpage instead of resetting to mu homepage.....
And it doesn't feel like it freed up ram space because on froyo when I closed all the apparently and freed ram it was flying after that....
Does anyone else notice this..
And would you recommend any good 3rd party task managers?

I tried this for many time, bro. The background processes still run after destroyed in a few minute.
"hi bro"
Android use real-multitasking, you dont need to force-close process or apps, if your phone is slowness, you will get a better ram manager, close some process or app can be causes of unstability or slowness and excessive battery drain, 512 mb are enough for anything but if you want try this:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276 < Superchanger
of course you need that your device is root and have busybox correctly installed

try use :::
fast report app and ram manger pro app
i use it and very nice app

[Q] More than one launchers installed: Is it ok?

I already have Appex and Go Launcher installed. Appex opens with my phone. I also like Go Launcher and would like to test some other launchers like Nova. I was wondering what happens with the launchers that are not open. Do they or any of their services run in the background ? Do they anyway affect battery or cpu performance? Is it wise to have three or four of them installed?
Any opinion on the matter would be much appreciated...
they needa Little bit resource, but no worth worrying about. ithink.

Every launcher has notifications and sometimes the automatic updates could be set as default. So keep that in mind when you don't use a launcher, it should never show in the running app list. What I do to make sure, I freeze the app. Of course, you need to be rooted for that.
hope this helps

[help] ram expander for xperia e dual

I tried ram expander to increase my phone's ram but it won't work for my device. Any solution to this or any alternative to increase the ram??

zRam on CM 10 , increases multitasking performance, or try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504319
I was looking for any app that could increase my devices ram size. Have installed pure performances already... Ram expander app is not compatible
Sent from my C1604 using xda app-developers app
There is no app that can expand ram only mods and if you are really desperate on ram try zipaligning your ROM or use a ROM that's zipaligned,
A “RAM Expander” (a.k.a. swap memory) will not make an Xperia E faster. Instead, your phone will slow down. If you want to have more RAM for games, try these things:
1. Long-press Home button and swipe away everything you don't want to use constantly OR has less loading times.
2. There's an app on the Play Store called “Fast Reboot”. Download that, and run it. It will close any unneeded apps in the background, or if they're being used (like Gmail syncing your mail), they'll be rebooted.
That said, unless you plan on gaming, you won't get any speed increase here. For making your phone faster during normal usage, you could try these things (and if you do play games, this will make your phone even better):
1. Download and use a lightweight launcher, like Apex or Zeam. I personally use Apex because it's more customizable, but Zeam is definitely more lightweight.
2. Download and use Opera Mini or Dolphin Mini instead of Chrome. These use much less RAM.
3. Reboot your phone about once a week (any more, or any less, will result in slowdowns).

[How to] Free more ram on samsung galaxy devices

Hi guys
Having a gb of ram and almost 3/4th ofbthat is always filled.
Your device can play asphalt 8 but you cant due to low fre ram.
Samsung galaxy devics provide a lots of junk apps.
You can free ram in many ways.
1 - DISABLING APPS
you can go to settings - application manager - all apps. Now you can tap on app which you dont want to run and disable it.
This will give you 10 mb of free ram per app disabled.
2 - REMOVING JUNK SYSTEM APPS
if you have a rooted device. You can always remove apps which you can only disable when you are not rooted. For this open es file manager and slide your fingure fron left edge to center. A menu will open in that menu just head to root menu and tap it on. After that tap on same root menu text. Many options will open choose unstall system apps and uninstall apps you dont use BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER UNSTALL ONLY THOSE APPS WHICH YOU DO NOT USE AND REMOVE THEIR ODEX FILE MAUALLY. ONLY UNSTALL APPS WHICH YOU KNOW WILL NOT EFFECT SYSTEM WORKING. This method always frees ram and internal space also.
If you have any problem you can contact me
My gmail is [email protected]
You can hangouts me
Please hit thanks if you got helped.
Peace
This has always been the advice. But I found that even though I had a lot of junk apps on freeze, my RAM still gets occupied by who-knows-what. I'm beginning to think it's a touchwiz problem
Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Replace Touchwiz with Apex or Nova.
Touchwiz launcher uses about 600MB RAM, Apex and Nova only about 60MB.
My Note 3 averages around 700MB in use when Idle.(of 2.71GB free) (And I'm on an old 4.4.2 stock, not even rooted. Just disabled most apps, greenified nearly everything and using Apex. I could probably free up more, but I can't be bothered to root at the moment. XD)

Actually touchwiz is designed fr devices running more than 1.5 gb of ram. It has its oun benifits. Beautiful shaders and lots of widgets. This is the problem that the touchwiz needs ram which others donot do. Thats why i recomend to replace it with nova.
Nova also gives a lollipop look.
We have to adjest with this only as core 2 never get a official lollipop update
