hi all,
I like how the free 3d contract apps from market. Is there anyway, I can replace that apps. You know, when you click on Phone icon, there's a "contact" tab. Anyway when I click on phone icon, then click on contact tab, it goes straight to 3D contract? I guess remapping to desire apk. Thanks
no! lol. go to settings aplications manage aplications then find 3d contacts and clears its defaults. once you do you will have the option to choose which contacts app to open again

Hi, I bought agenda one from the app store (marketplace) a while ago and find it a really good app.
One thing I can't get to work though is to allow agenda one contacts and calendar to overide the HTC programs. When you install agenda one it asks if you want it to be the default contact and calendar application. I chose yes and its altered in the options menu but the contacts and calendar buttons still revert to HTC program. Does anyone know how to chanfe this?
Thanks in advance
Change this even!
No-one any idea?
which buttons u mean? can u make a screenshot?

I also use Agenda One but have never been able to get it to work as the default calendar with HTC Sense. This probably doesn't help you but Agenda One works fine as the default calendar when using SpB Mobile Shell, although you do need to download a plugin from SpB for Agenda One.
Hi,
Could anybody help me with one of the settings for Agenda One, when a particular birthday or anniversary occurs, I would like the age in years of the event to be dispalyed, similar to this: John Smith (45)
anybody got any ideas
thanks

I use Agenda One with CoOkie's Home Tab. With the CHTEditor you can choose which app you want to open.
I just installed launcher pro and was wondering how to get the 2nd icon to work [looks like a person]. I'm assuming it's for contacts.
Every time I click on it, it says "Application is not installed on your phone".
What app do I need to install for it to work?!
press and hold. It will ask what you want to associate it to and select applications and then scroll to contacts

Check the market for it. It's all kinds of awesome. Ignore the fact that the market description is in Chinese, it's very cool.
Been using Youlou since upgrading to 2.1 a few weeks ago. I must say it's a really slick address book.
this is way faster then stock froyo address book ...just missing option to create shortcut for direct dialer
looks good. i think i will try this one
How can I use this app as default dialer? I need it because I want to see the counter for missed calls?
I love this app too. The widget shows missed calls BTW the widget is awesome.

It's frustrating, this app.
It's rad, the UI looks awesome. It pretends to be so functional... But it's so far from it.
No * or # key, really? I get that it's chinese, but come on. How many users have to request it in the comments before you just add the damn things?
I don't want to have to add a widget to homescreen. There isn't room for it. Make the app fully functional without it (aka show missed calls).
Doesn't sync with facebook.
Doesn't thread together contacts (like say if you had a regular phone and a google voice phone already in your contacts... in the default I can just thread the two together, in Youlu I have to delete one and then add the other to the contact manually)
Pictures are sometimes there for my favs, sometimes not. I even re add a picture or change the picture. It sometimes takes the app opening closing like 5 times before it appears, and then it can leave just as easily.
After all that I'm still struggling to remove it from my phone, but being realistic, this thing isn't a dialer. It's just not. It's a cool UI that pretends to be one, while missing a half a dozen key components.
Sometimes I wonder if the stock dialer was something that was actually ****ty, and then the current stock dialer came out with a hip name and was third party, how crazy would people go for that? It has everything.

I have no choice but to completely agree irish22022 it's a very nice looking UI and I enjoyed it quite a lot until I was trying to get in touch with customer service (*611) or check the balance on my phone (#BAL) it's extremely frustrating to be missing these two key digits, almost a showstopper however I keep using it hoping they will eventually add what we need. As far as for only allowing one account that doesn't bother me so much because I have all of my contacts backed up to one Google account which only made sense to me, so that doesn't bother me so much. However the * and # issue really needs to be corrected.
has the inter-grated sms thing still there, i can t get rid of it!

you can open the sms client in the app drawer that appears after installation, go to settings, and disable everything.
It's still ridiculous that they install that on your computer along with the address book. Should definitely be a seperate app.
Just update is now acceptinf # &*
It has been the fastest smart dialer for me-even faster than dialer one. I would still like it if you could search within the call log and/or the contact list as well.

Unfortunately the last version also installs a default SMS app which is worse than Handcent....

Agreed. I don't like the fact it installs an SMS client, as I already have and prefer Handcent. At least you can disable it.

are you at least in the sms client? it looks nothing like the phone book. If it's not in your app drawer, open up the dialer, go to contacts, click on a contact, and click the envelope rather then the dialer (if you don't see the envelope, then go to settings and look for the option to include a text shortcut for your contacts). This defaults to youlu's sms client. From there, hit the menu button, click settings and disable notifications.
You can't uninstall the sms app, but you can silence it so you don't know it's there. And you also can't change the default sms app within youlu phone book, it will always open up their sms app.

Hi all,
this is my first Android device and as such I have some very basic Qs that I am sure any one of you can answer! I have searched high and low for the answer, and after 2 hrs searching in vain I ask for your help!
1) How do you close an application natively (i.e. without a 'task killer') -> i.e. you want to EXIT it as you no longer need it and don't want it running in the background consuming power?
2) How do you natively view a list and switch to an application currently running/open in the background?
On my iTouch both these functions are done by pressing and holding the start button - but I am yet to come across what is the equivalent on my android device!
Thanks!
to kill a app in the system u go to settings, then applications then manage applications then click the all tab and find the app click it then it will say force stop u click that
to switch apps for mulitasking u click the button on the bottom black bar left of the home button the one that looks like 2 squares layered it brings a list with thumbnails u can scroll it to see whats there and click to app switch
Thanks for attempting to help me.

That button shows 'recently used apps' not currently opened apps.
i.e. if you use a task killer to kill all running apps, it will still show them when you push the button, much like 'recent files' on your PC. As such when I push that button I do not know which of them are opened at the moment and running in the background.
Hence I still don't know where to find a list to easily switch my currently opened apps
And in relation to killing them via the system menu, is it possible somehow to create a shortcut for it on the main window, so I don't need to go to that long navigation to close an app?
Thanks for your advise/help so far!

to switch between apps u must use the app switcher in honeycomb, other wise to see whats currently running in the background go to settings then applications then running. manually u can use a task manager to kill apps and of course its still gonna show those in the app switching list because its been cached there temporarily with the thumbnails.
there may also be apps that can currently tell you what apps are running aswell u should check that out
if your goal is too see what could be using up battery check your battery status through the about section in settings. other wise theres not much to worry as the 1gb ram is suffice

go to the play store app, hit menu > settings > 4th box down is Auto-add Widgets. uncheck that box and return to the main menu. now you should be all set
^As said above.
I have GB market however, and to me it says "Auto add shortcuts". It depends if you're on ICS or GB to know which option you'll get.
