[Q] change the ESN on D2G is it possible? - Droid 2 Global General

Hi
Is it possible to change the esn ??? I have two droid 2 global, one I manage to unlock with unlock code from ebay and for the other one I can't find a code. So if I change the esn on the second one (to be the same as the unlocked D2G) I hope I can use the same unlock code. I have no intentions to use them on Verizon or any U.S. carriers. So is it possible to change the esn?

The code is bound to the IMEI, not the ESN, as far as I recall.
And you can't use two phones with the same IMEI on a single carrier.

Carrier unlock?

Hi everyone. I've got a question. So my friend has a Droid 2 Global purchased with a bad ESN. Is it possible to change this? Would it be a matter of changing the ESN number? And what exactly is the difference between ESN, IMEI, and MEID? They all uniquely identify the phone, correct?
And if it is not possible to change the ESN or whatever needs to be done, can the device be unlocked to work on AT&T, T-Mobile, or Sprint?
Thanks.
-Zane
ESN is the “old style” MEID. When you're talking about “bad ESN” that's effectively “bad MEID”.
IMEI is a GSM phone's unique ID, MEID is it's CDMA counterpart; MEIDs are only blacklisted by a single carrier while with IMEI, carriers (or even governments) can have agreements established to prevent cellphone theft.
There are no really affordable ways to change the MEID of a D2G.
To use a D2G with AT&T and T-Mobile you have to:
1. Unlock it via an unlock code (normally provided by VZW Global Services if the phone is active on an account in good standing for the last 6 months). The codes are sold on eBay (and specialised websites) and are a hit&miss kind of thing. If a code bought off eBay didn't work, don't bother buying from another seller. They're the same.
2. Perform a band unlock. AT&T and T-Mobile GSM networks are blacklisted in the baseband of D2G. Team Black Hat does a band unlock for a $100 fee; you have to mail the phone to them for the procedure, and you will be unable to update the firmware; it has to stay at 2.4.29 for the band unlock to work. Custom ROMs are ok, though.
As far as I remember, it's definitely possible to flash the D2G to use Cricket. Sprint, I'm not sure since I don't know which exact CDMA revision Sprint Nextel uses.
able chance ESN bad to good
1. root the phone(look on http://www.xda-developers.com for tutorials)
2. Flash a custom rom
3. connect the phone to any WiFi internet connection so you have access
4. Download an app on the app market called "MSL READER" this is the code you need in order to edit your settings.
5. go to the dial pad like your about to make a call and hit "##3282#" then click edit settings and enter the MSL NUMBER the app gave you
6. Well now you need to look for further details HINT: YOU MUST HAVE AND THIS IS REQUIRED... QPST TOOLS OR CDMA WORKSHOP TO CHANGE THE ESN/DEC NUMBER.. Use Port 7 or 28 to connect. You need to find a good ESN to replace the Bad one. Two ways to do it. You can look on ebay at phones like the one your want to activate and find a seller who has posted the ESN. Get that ESN and use it to replace your Bad one. Keep in mind who ever ends up with the phone on ebay will get the message, "Sorry, the phone you are trying to activate is active on another line." There is nothing he can do about it. You activated it first. If you have moral issues with theese directions that always work here is another way you can try. I have had success doing this with LG, SAMSUNG and Motorola phones. Simply change the last digit of the ESN number and only the last digit. Example: A000001769214F8 = BAD ESN Change to A000001769214F6 = Even for even Odd for Odd numbers. Works.
however, i don't know how to unlock ... anyone else can unlock it pls show me how to do that ... thanks

[Q] Ways to unlock the Droid 2 Global (Verizon)

Rooting it with another ROM will unlock it for GSM use?
I dont have a Verizon contract... there's any way to unlock this phone?
I travel a lot to Brasil, there's only GSM networks there... any way to use them?
The only way to unlock the phone is to obtain an unlock code from Verizon or — if you're lucky — from one of the eBay/etc code sellers.
There is no workaround. The lock resides in the radio module, and unlocking is done by the stock firmware.

How do I start with unlocking Droid 2 Global

Hey guys my friend is about to buy droid 2 global ( i own galaxy s2) so I am familiar with rooting and stuff.
Now the question when i saw the droid it had to go thru activation from VERIZON.
If i buy unlock code i should be somehow able to first activate then somehow enter the code and unlock.
would rooting be recommended first to avoid activation? or how do i proceed. Thank you guys
You don't have to activate to unlock the gsm radio. Go buy unlock code online from somebody of the vendors. If you are lucky, code will work and you will be able to unlock the phone. If you aren't lucky, code will not work since Verizon alters codes of some handsets. In this case do not waste your money to purchase code elsewhere. You will need to get the phone activated with verizon on an account that's postpaid and been in good standing for at least 60 days. Then the owner of the account can call Verizon Global Support and request unlock code.
As for bypassing the activation screen, simply tap in all four corners of the sceen. Put foreign SIM in the phone (any non-Verizon/Vodaphone would do) this will trigger the subsidy code request mode where you punch in the 8 digit unlock code. You can read a bit more on unlocking D2G if you search around a bit.
Good luck!

SIM Unlock Pin (I don't have it, just an idea)

I was just pre-ordering my Galaxy S3 on VZW and decided to skim the contract. I noticed in one paragraph that they have in writing what code the S3 is defaulted to for SIM unlock and use on another carrier. Now, I am wondering if AT&T was just as kind and put it in our One X contracts? If anyone has theirs handy, or a digital version, check it out. The paragraph in VZW contract said it was defaulted to either "000000" or "123456". I tried generic codes on my One X to no avail, and obviously don't have my SGS3 to test if they were telling the truth! Let me know if you guys find anything!
First of all, you will likely have to call Verizon to get the network unlock code in order for roaming. Unlock code usually is tied to the IMEI number of your phone for GSM phones. Secondly, even if you unlocked your Verizon global phone, you will still not be able to use on AT&T or T-Mobile. You can only use it abroad.
Now, it is possible for newer global phones from Verizon be unlocked use a default code but you will still not be able to use them on other US GSM carriers.
On AT&T, not only you have to ask for the unlock code specfic to your phone, but also AT&T won't give it to you until the new phone is on the martket for 10-month, the so called 'exclusive' period.

First of all, you are absolutely WRONG because I have a Rezound that works perfectly fine on AT&T without any unlock code, secondly I asked if anyone had seen this on their contract, so you can take your irrelevant post and shove it up your a$$.

Well this thread went nowhere fast. Most people wont know your answer. You're either going to have to call AT&T or just wait to see if its unlocked already.

Help Unlocking Motorola Razr Maxx XT912

Greetingz to the fam!
I'm a new kid on the block. I have a network locked Razr Maxx. I've bought the Unlock Code. I tried the combination codes to input the code, but when it prompts me to enter the unlock code, the phone dialer doesn't give me the option to enter alphabets. The code has alpha-
numeric characters, something like: 501B3GH7. I'm running the latest ICS. I have root access and need to carrier-unlock.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
There is no carrier unlock for the XT912.they're all unlocked for international use by default. And theres no option to use it on US GSM carriers such as AT&T or Tmobile since a solution to the block hasn't been found. Wherever you got the unlock code from, hopefully you can get a refund.
The XT910 is another story, for that model you need only bout with a non approved sim card and the phone prompts you for the unlock code.
