[Q] HDMI question - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hi, im use my Infuse to watch netflix over HDMI, im currently on stock as you can see, my questionits... the HDMI working depends on the kernel? o what component?
I would be happy to overclock but dont know if that will break my HDMI.
Also... unrelated question.... ive been meaning to change the boot animation... yest i do not find " bootanimation.zip anywhere oly the samsungbootanim.qmg on /system/media
I read on some thread that i could change the boot anim by renaming the bootanimation.zip i donload into a "sanim.zip"... yet i cant get it to work...
tnks

Check out Infuse 1.6 and Refuse ROM's. You can still OC with Bedwa's Infusion Froyo Kernel. I think.

I thought Froyo Roms kept HDMI? All GB roms lose HDMI, but I'm not telling you to look at GB roms. Infused 1.6 and Refuse are Froyo.

Hm.... imteresting... maybe im missinformed... ill give infused 1.6 a try then

It's kernel and userland.
The Rogers kernel and userland (Gingerbread) are both missing HDMI support. We added back what we could on the kernel side but it wasn't enough.
The AT&T Froyo kernel and userland, along with anything built from the Froyo source code (custom ROMs and kernels), does have HDMI.

Alright tnks for all the info!

so would this work with cm and muiu?
Excellent. I assume I'd use setcpu to overclock?

not for CM but miui will work as far as i know
and yest set cpu
Thanks Apache!!!!
Cant wait to try this out. I thought DHD kernels didnt play so well with the inspire...can't wait. Sound + Video =
Sweet
Getting 2062 or more on Quadrant........ No issues yet! Great Apache thanks for bringing this over for us!!!
BTW using stock rooted rom.
well video still doesnt play well with DHD rom using this kernel. I think they must have different camera/video drivers or something. Its just weird that 2 phone with the same hardware dont 100% play well with each other software and driver wise. I can understand kernel differences but..
what rom are u using ? some are using old libs stock rooted sense should be fine also CM needs some more kernel work ....
also could someone please pull me /proc/config.gz ?
by
"adb pull /proc/config.gz"
and send it to me ? if there are issues they will be config wise

I loaded the 1.6 but havent went over 1334 yet... baby steps

possible to root 3.1? - to overclock to 1.6ghz?

so i just got my asus TF and when i saw the 3.1 leaked i immediately updated..
but now i wanna try to run the supposed stable 1.6 overlock kernal
did i jump the gun? or is there still a way to root my android device and get this accomplished?
Jumped the gun. No custom kernels are compatible with the 3.1 update yet since they'll need to kernel source for it.
While no kernel yet. You should have root with old firmware than update to 3.1 with the rooted 3.1 rom. Custom kernel for 3.1 probably in a week or two max.
I'm using 3.1 right and have no reason to actually overclock. Once it's a available i'll do so but it's so smooth that there is no need.

ye, 3.1 is much more silky smooth than 1.4G @ 3.0
Hmmm, the only thing now is no cifs included...
Did anyone get this working ready? Was wondering if I could stream 720p mkv's now
And is the sleep of death back? It was fixed for me with the netformer custom kernel..

[Q] A couple of questions about kernels

I'm on infused 2.2.3 and i currently have Entropy's daily kernel.
I have a few questions about changing it
1) i already know i can just flash over it but, i want a bit faster one, and i wanna try to do that oc stuff... a few things i dont understand from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212485 is that it says only works on Samsung roms and not AOSP roms... firstly would i be ok being on infused? and also what does AOSP even mean?
2) I know it's a stupid question but what is a GB rom and what is the difference between it and other ones?
3)what is voodoo lagfix, voodoo sound and insecure boot?
I think that is all for now
Thanks for any help
First- yes you can flash that kernel with infused.
2nd- GB is gingerbread, its the lastest realses of android system (or soon will be for our infuse)
3rd- voodoo lagfix and sound are a tweek that helps your phone look ,run smoother, quicker, and sound better without a custom kernel but still works with everything.

in the thread you posted, you can pick any of them......Cores A and B just have different clock speeds added.
1.1 of course being the latest, but some have said they prefer 1.0. just flash it with SGS kernel flasher or CWM and you will be good. after doing so, go and get Voltage controller(free) or one of the paid apps(set cpu,Pimp My Cpu) and you will have the option to OC(Over Clock) and UV ( Under volt) that is all really.
no harm no foul, you should not mess anything up. try them out and see which one you like better. i personally liked 1.1 with the Infused Rom.

Four DLs
1.1
1.0

core b
STAY away from the different cores, since your just begining with the kernel stuff. EITHER one of the first 2 will be ok for you bruh.

Oh and what should i set my OC to? Like what is a good speed or whatever?

when i was using it i had it stable at 1.6 on xinteractive.
may drain more battery, but thats what undervolting is for.
i dont recall anything about the boot animations.....just reboot again and see if happens again.

[KERNEL] AT&T Stock-ish 0.3 BLN/USB-OTG/NFS/FUSE/init.d/adb root/boot animation

This is a mostly stock AT&T kernel I've packaged up. Its features include the BLN patch, USB-OTG support and in-kernel NFS and FUSE modules. The ramdisk has been tweaked to support init.d scripts, adb as root and boot animations (on those ROMs that support it - such as my Alien ROM).
I've tried to keep any other changes to a minimum. There is no UV/OC patching, etc as this kernel along with Alien ROM already perform outstanding.
You can grab it here.
Version 0.2 with NLS UTF-8 support is here.
Version 0.3 based on the UCLA3 kernel is here. I recommend you use the UCLA3 modem from here.
If you want to revert to stock AT&T 2.3.6 UCKK1, you can get it here. Thanks to pookieguy for the stock files!
Source is here.

Oh...romracer.....what a beautiful job this is.
Even though I am accustom to zImage kernels and these are forign to me....I am no stranger to source. I have to say good job.
I am currently in the process of repacking a stock kernel, and am having a tremndous amount of trouble. I believe its my repacking scripts and methods....never the less, I am working on a rom release (without a device no less)
And with your permission I would be very pleased to include this kernel with the distrubtion.
May I?
Thanks

How its battery life...will it work on skyrocketeer?
Sent via rooted SkyRocket
Battery life is the best I've seen. I'm running this on Skyrocketeer with the conservative governor set and the screen off frequency set at 192. Unlike Da_G's higher performance kernel, this one keeps the 2nd core offline until there is a heavy load, greatly increasing my battery life. I still get a 6400 score on CF-bench, while overclocked to 1.78 on Da_G's I get around 7800.
NM i got it.

[Q] MHL (TV out functionality) not working on Zeus?

the problem isn't the rom its the kernel. You can use the bionix biui build 3 kernel if You use sgs kernel flasher. You will lose cwm and lagfix. remember to disable lagfix and reboot once before flashing.
