TY for the answer and the awsome work you have done I shall give it a go and report back...

Did the update yesterday and today I have run the "ASUS Transformer Root ToolKit V7.1 Universal (Windows) [v6 WW,US,TW,TB,DE(8.6.5.x)]" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104) on windows and it works just fine . Running Titanium Backup right now.

b40 tablet here
worked fine for me

If i will root my pad with 7.1 Rootkit - will the rootkit automatically install CWM? Or do i have to install CWM another way?

It will install a "safe" version of CWM recovery (but it's not the latest release). I recommend that you update recovery to the latest version available after rooting your phone.

Thanks! But how to update CWM - just download the new CWM.zip and flash it via the old CWM?

Look at the serial number of your pad - it starts with "Bxx".

Yes, thats exactly the reason. Read the first post at the Rootkit-Thread once again:
This method still doesn't work for B70 revision Pads

Awsome work again Roach2010. Thank you
That doesn't make sense to me. If its for rooted tf's, it shouldn't matter what rom you are running.
No? I'm no expert though.

It's patches rather than a full rom so it can only be successfully be applied over 8.4.4.11 stock.

Sorry, It upgrades stock 8.4.4.11 to 8.6.5.6 (3.2) and adds/keeps root. It also needs to be flashed with CWM recovery.

That didn't take long... Amazing work Roach, thank you!
Once someone applies this to a stock ROM, can't they remove all the patch files from the zip, copy the files from their 3.2 ROM into the zip, and update the updater-script to remove the patching instructions/replace with copy instructions? That would essentially give us a zip file that could update any version to 3.2, no?
Yeah this didn't work for me...it fails to install and got a message about tegra zone....

didn't work for me either, got error for kindle-oem.apk i removed kindle before and wheni put it back in still getting the same error, pls fix this can't wait to get to 3.2 lol
So this flashes 3.2? If I have Prime 1.6 now, and flash this, I'll have Stock 3.2?

Thanks Roach! Trying this now....Seems to be installing just fine atm.
Any idea when you'll have Prime updated for this? Can't wait for it.
Thanks again! I'd buy you a beer if my kid didn't cost so much.
EDIT: Flashing it in CWM worked just fine....taking a while to boot, but whatever. I'm sure it's all fine....
EDIT2: Just cause I'm wondering, should we be flushing our cache and data and such in CWM before rebooting? Just wondering.....
And just booted into 3.2. Works great!

It's a rite of passage, lol. Serioulsy though, he's right. It clearly states you've got to be on a STOCK Rom. You stated you were on 1.6 Prime, so there was no reason for you to think it would work directly without flashing back to stock. =\
It's meant to be flashed on top of Super's Stock Root Repack ROMs for example

As far as I know if u got a Pre-B70 device u can still root with Universal Root Toolkit using APX mode.
I am havin a B80 transformer and updated bymistake and am stuck.
If ur on 8.6.5.21 and hav a B80+ Transformer all you can do is Wait for a new Exploit
I have a B70, cannot root with .21! Shame, will wait for update.

Try using the Universal RootKit here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104
I've successfully used it on my B50 and just this morning used it on a B60 model for a family member. It may still work for a B70 edition.

Agreed I've heard lot's of success stories for the B70 with this tool. I'm a B80 so I'm screwed (for now I hope), grrrrr Asus.
i just got a transformer for Christmas and its a b70. Will attempting that root method brick my device if it fails? I was following a root guide and stopped part way through just after i updated, came back and it said it wanted to update. Oops. Gotthe .21 update

It shouldn't brick it if you do it right, but there's always a risk associated with rooting a device. Some B70 users have had luck with the following rootkit, but not all B70's will work on .21 with this method:

Did you tried to root with RazorClaw ? Maybe it works with B70 AND .21...

Razorclaw don't work anymore on .21 version, regardless of your serial number.
If you have serial number before B70 (and some B70) then the methods (like this) using nvflash work.

It does work. I did it after flashing 4.1.2 over the german rom. No problems whatsoever.
Are there benefits to choosing one method over another?

The ClockWorkMod method will give you root and the ClockWorkMod recovery to install zips and do nandroid backups/restore from recovery, while the cf-root will only install root.

Rooting a 4.2.1 tf300t

Hey guys, complete noob here so please bear with me. I just picked up a US version TF300T and immediately updated it to 4.2.1 JB. Now that I'm looking in to rooting this thing I'm starting to feel like this was a mistake as I'm not seeing any info on how to root with the new firmware. Should I downgrade to an older firmware? How exactly would I go about doing this? Also, are there any good guides to rooting out there?
Thanks in advance!

you'll have to wait for new versions of cwm/twrp to be released.
for now there's no root option that will work on 4.2

OK things have changed since the last answer here. Do the following...
Go to the Asus site and download v8 of the unlock tool in utilities then use it to unlock your bootloader.
Once unlocked download twrp 2.4.4.0 recovery and flash it in. See the Dev section for site and instructions.
Locate the root guide in the general section and dow unload superuser.zip from it and flash it in using twrp recovery to get root.
Go to the market and get supersu, install it and let that manage your su binary.
Hope this helps.

[Q] tf300tG 4.2.1 twrp possible?

I've been searching through the forums here, but haven't really found a definate answer.
I got a tf300tG that I've updated to 4.2.1 using the tablets own update.
it's build number is:
JOP40D.TW_epad-10.6.2.10-20130918
After the update, I unlocked the bootloader using the file from asus' own website.
So far so good.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to get twrp installed, but most guides seem to be for the non-3g version (tf300t), and no guides on the G version seem to be updated to 4.2.1
I checked the twrp site, but the tf300tg link leads to an empty folder.
However, the tf300t link leads to a folder that inlcudes files seemingly for the tf300tg, but none of the G versions have the 4.2 ending...
So what to do???
Regards
Anders

Yes, as I understand it TWRP is the recovery and the 3g feature is being enable by the ROM - I previously loaded the ROM for the T version and the 3g stopped working. I later flash a rom for the TG version and the 3g worked again.
When you compare the ROM version numbers between T and TG models you will see it's different....
