Here is an optimized Rosie.apk for King's Hero 2.3. I used the theme from Black Eclair on the Hero forum and then used OptiPNG to reduce the size of the .PNG files, Used 7-zip to condense the file, signed it and then used Zipalign to correct the positioning. It's a little tedious but it reduces the footprint of the application from 4.5 megs down to around 900k. There are a number of ways to install this, but I would suggest the following:
First, rename the file from Rosie.zip to Rosie.apk
then connect your phone to your computer and type the following with ADB:
ADB push <directory>\Rosie.apk /system/app/
after that, you can just reboot your phone and you will be good to go.
A couple things about this -- Make sure that your wallpaper is not one of the stock wallpapers from the gallery because I have removed most of them. If you use the wallpaper gallery, it will FC on any of the wallpapers that are shown as a black square. Other than that, you should have a noticeable difference in the speed of your UI.
Red.
Gonna test it...
Now making backups...
//EDIT: It's working nice and smooth. I think I'm gonna keep the Hero ROM.
What makes you people believe that removing things counts as optimization? That's akin to calling DOS an optimization of window 98 (which some people would say is true, actually...).
If you're going to trade wallpapers for size, the replace them with single-pixel black pngs/jpgs, you use a lot less space and avoid the fc's caused by missing wallpapers.

Lol its funny cuz coolbho had written a script that does the so called "tedious" task in like a minute and all by ITSELF. Script was titled apkopt. So if ur lying SHAME ON U, if ur not u just WASTED ur TIME.
I like it
I like it so i am going to keep it
I did not benchmark it because i do not know how, but i kinda of notice a speed boost
Thanks redd12345
You are correct.

I followed Coolbho's method on an earlier version of JacHero. However, I did not know that he had written a script for the same proceedure, so I did it by hand. I used the highest setting on OptiPNG. As far as wasting my time, nothing is a waste if it was done in good cause.
Jubeh, I respect your work highly, and I also will take your suggestion to change out the wallpapers for 1 pixel png files. However, referring to me as "you people" and your negative attitude can go elsewhere. Many people, especially developers, seem to enjoy flaming people who are trying to help. Your insecurities will be your downfall.
Red.
I agree 100%. Red simply posted an update to a current rom that he and others might find useful for the time being. Thats it.
If you dont like the way he did it, or know a better way to do so, Do it your way. There is just no need for the influx of sarcastic, insecure and negative comments on these boards.
Even though there was an easier way for Red to accomplish this, I still appreciate the effort, thats what these boards are supposed to be here for. Not the constant bickering, insults and complaints that constantly plague these boards.
is there a way to push this using terminal? If so, can someone please kindly post it. Thanks

should be the same thing but make sure you put Rosie.apk in the root of ur sd card and do the following:
su
rwsystem
cp /sdcard/Rosie.apk /system/app
rwsystem if used with King's HERO ROMs, those commands should work for terminal

It works. Thanks for your tips. And the new rosie.apk really smooth.
Great job
i've searched everywhere for some nice digital clocks, but everyone creates clocks with some really wierd fonts, or colors that isnt really my taste. So, i made a "concept art" of how a digital clock id like to use look like. (see attachments)
The clock has to be adjustable via CHT (i mean being able to move it around like the normal manila digital clock), so that i can use it in all screens, (Home , all levels, and lockscreen).
Anyone knows if anything like this exists?
if not, anyone willing to make it?
i used the font known as "Segoe UI" (light). Also, if possible, id like some extra versions of it, like the fonts being black instead of white, and an other one with having that black transparent panel behind the clock, using white for the fonts.
PS1:i know that the clock im thinking about looks horrible with the current looks of my phone, but i cant be arsed to change anything until i find a proper clock
PS2: i also know that theres a cab that removes the white panels behind the manila numbers of the clock. The thing is that, without it, the numbers got a little gap between them, looking ugly imo
I basically achieve this by mixing two cabs I've found here in xda
one is called
[Star] Segoe UI light clock charecters White.cab
and the other one is
Transparent Clock flippers.cab
you can find them here on xda posted by their respective authors.
edit: oh I forgot! you can use
transparent clock background.cab to get the effect you want
awesome! thanks a lot for ur reply!
Yeah use my cabs, but you will still get the lines its inevitable when you remove the clock flippers man
ah shame. i thought that ppl let those gaps there, so that the "flip" of the numbers looked better
excellent work with those cabs btw, they were exactly what i needed
I would love a clock like this also. Shame nobody wants to make it without the lines (from the flippers).
Having the lines kills the elegancy of it.
Hi everyone,
I get a solution to fix the problem with the flip lines but you have to be very carefully 'coz it's a bit risky...don't be panic, it works for me perfectly without problem and it would work for you guys too, just follow the instruction
1. Make a backup of the 7c60907d_manila go to your /windows directory and find that file, copy and paste it in your SD card.
2. Download the attached rar. file to your PC, extract the file and save the folder "NoFlipLIne" in your SD card
3. Using Total Commander or File Resco, go to your SD card and open the folder "NoFlipLine" and copy the manila file and paste it into your /Windows directory and accept overwrite (don't worry, you have a backup in case something go wrong)
4. Now reset Sence or restart your phone (as you prefer) and see if you like the magic
Also this manila file has a fix to get installed up to 20 CHT widgets too.
In case of any problem, just find your backed up original file and reinstall it back.
Remember, that works perfectly in my device, but I will not be responsible if it does not work well on yours or cause any other problems, so use it at your own risk
Enjoy it and please let me know if it works well for you.
Your feedback or just a Thanks button clicked is always appreciated.
Thank you for the reply, and your effort.
Unfortunately this did not work. I did exactly as you said, when I restart the phone, I get the original clock, with flippers, but no text where the time is. Basically the time (text) is blank and I just have the original flippers which flipe with nothing inside them.
I don't have screen capture software so I hope you know what I mean. I fyou want a screen print, please link a screen capture app.
I copied the original (backup file) to Windows and all is ok now.
My phone details are as follows:
ROM: 314 WWE (3.14.831.3
Manila: 2.5.20161330.0
WM6.5
Thanks again for trying. Any other suggestions?
ok, this s a little embaressing, I feel like an idiot.
There was no clock text as everything was white. When I mucked around and applied the 'transparent flippers' boom, the clock is just like the pic. PERFECT.
Thanks heaps. I have 'thanked' your post. Good job.

Hi again my friend,
I forgot to give you a hand with this one too, so here I'm again
For screen capture I use a great app that is very easy to use and works perfectly and with good quality, it is "Shake and Save" which you can find it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=488990
Best regards.
Wow, brilliant app. Thank you x2. For the app, and the clock.
I would like to save a little space on my leo by removing the themes that I do not wish to use. Rather than wandering through the file system looking for files to delete I am wondering if there is an easy way of doing this.
StartMenu / Settings / Home
i see a list of themes with the option to delete.
Error message when I try to delete any:
These system files cannot be deleted.
I am using Energy.Leo.23673.Sense2.5.MaxSense.Jul.30
things that come in your rom cannot be deleted.
another approach is to replace the files with an "empty" file (no data, just same name.)
however, the themes you are talking about...i cannot imagine that they are taking up much space, really, so not sure if it is worth all the work.
ah i see. right. i will take a look at how big they are. since they are just themes and we can add themes as we like why are the rom ones sacred ?
Mods delete this if it shouldn't be here.
So I really liked the new weather animations from Sense 3.0, and the wait for the Pyramid port, while advancing quickly, is sooo hard to wait for. So I thought of a way to sort of give myself the weather animations from Sense 3.0 without actually having it. Here's how:
I was playing with Go Weather and noticed that Go Weather also uses .mp4 videos for the weather animations, so I did the dead simple: took the weather .mp4's from the Pyramid thread (can't recall who uploaded them, credits to them) and plugged them into the Go Weather folder that stores the videos. What do you know? They work! Here's a link to a .zip that contains the HTC videos that have been renamed to function with Go Weather:
http://www.mediafire.com/?h7n7c961wjkvf9c
You'll need to unzip and drop the "remastered" folder in the goweather folder on the root of your SD card (or replace it if you've already downloaded the remastered default videos from the app).
I set up Fancy Widget Pro with all of the appropriate HTC flip clock and weather skins as my home screen clock (so it looks like stock HTC), and set it up to open Go Weather when the weather below the clock is tapped. Now, in Go Weather hit Menu>Settings and scroll down to Appearance. Make sure that the background style is set to video and click on Select Background Video. It should detect the remastered folder, so select that. Back out and it will reload the weather with the new HTC videos.
I tried my damndest to get a screen shot it but I couldn't get it to work properly.
Hope some of you guys enjoy this, I did. Obviously you'll need to download Go Weather from the Market (it's free).
Also, if anyone knows how to force the HTC weather widgets to open a different weather app that the stock one, that would be awesome. That would save us the trouble of having to use Fancy Widget.
Thanks for the tip and folder however, I cant seem to find the GO Weather folder for the life of me anywhere on my phone. Any idea where it is? System or SDCard? - Please Help...

Glad that you like it. I don't have it set to auto refresh, since Fancy Widget does that. I just click on Fancy Widget to open the app and tell it refresh, so I haven't noticed any battery hit.
I just realized that I accidentally made the, "mostly cloudy" videos the thunderstorm. Oh well...I could change it but there doesn't seem to be much interest. At least the thunderstorms look cool...
That and with Go Weather I get refresh errors more times than it will work, which is super annoying.
This is a cool combination - thanks for figuring this all out for us!

Let me just start by saying great work on this. Im a motorola droid 2 global owner. Im pretty sure most Droid owners would like to have the look of Sense 3.0 on their phone. I notice that if you unpack and apk file then replace the actual videos of the app with the sense 3.0 under assets folder(changing also "Double checking if videos that will take over have the same name as the ones in the assets folder of the unpacked go weather app") Once this is all done, repack the apk file. I've tried repacking but i get a parsin error when trying to install install on my droid. Could you help on this.

Can someone help me get these wallpapers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103342
I like the Sony Ericsson wallpapers from this ROM, but i'm switching to EB.
I'll will donate to anyone who helps, after I set up my new Paypal.
Private message me your email so I can send them to you.
EDIT: The wallpapers included are stock Android 2.1+...
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
You should also be able to download the ROM (make sure this is a copy that you don't intend on trying to flash to your phone), extract it, go to /system/app and change the name of Launcher2.apk to Launcher2.zip, then extract that, and go into a folder called 'res', then inside a folder called, "drawable-hdpi', you'll find all kinds of static wallpapers.
I've done that several times to pull wallpaper from roms that I saw, including the stock g2x wallpaper.
Someone told me I could also use androzip (or maybe it was astro, can't recall) to insert files like jpgs and pngs INTO a zipped folder without extracting it first, thus leaving it in its flashable state...I haven't tried it yet, but maybe I"ll toy with that today after I make a good nandroid.
edit: I can't find that particular wallpaper in that folder location, so I'm going to keep digging and report back.
edit 2: Found it...it's in \system\etc\customization\content\com\sonyericsson\wallpaperpicker\wallpapers , all KINDS of cool wallpapers I hadn't noticed before in there...so thanks for motivating me to dig.
