[Q] Help with Wallpapers - T-Mobile LG G2x

Can someone help me get these wallpapers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103342
I like the Sony Ericsson wallpapers from this ROM, but i'm switching to EB.
I'll will donate to anyone who helps, after I set up my new Paypal.

Private message me your email so I can send them to you.
EDIT: The wallpapers included are stock Android 2.1+...
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App

You should also be able to download the ROM (make sure this is a copy that you don't intend on trying to flash to your phone), extract it, go to /system/app and change the name of Launcher2.apk to Launcher2.zip, then extract that, and go into a folder called 'res', then inside a folder called, "drawable-hdpi', you'll find all kinds of static wallpapers.
I've done that several times to pull wallpaper from roms that I saw, including the stock g2x wallpaper.
Someone told me I could also use androzip (or maybe it was astro, can't recall) to insert files like jpgs and pngs INTO a zipped folder without extracting it first, thus leaving it in its flashable state...I haven't tried it yet, but maybe I"ll toy with that today after I make a good nandroid.
edit: I can't find that particular wallpaper in that folder location, so I'm going to keep digging and report back.
edit 2: Found it...it's in \system\etc\customization\content\com\sonyericsson\wallpaperpicker\wallpapers , all KINDS of cool wallpapers I hadn't noticed before in there...so thanks for motivating me to dig.

[Q] Handcent Skin Packs

So now that Handcent has released skin packs I've been trying to find a way to basically rip open the skinpack APK and replace the images and whatnot to create my own skins. I haven't found a solution thus far and I was hoping the experts here could help me out. I've opened it up in APK Edit and attempted to swap images but it won't install. I'm not sure where I went wrong but I'm curious on how one of you would approach the process.
I assumed APK Edit would resign the *.apk file but maybe that's what I'm missing. I'll keep pecking away at it and see what I can come up with but any assistance would be aweome.
Hi
Any news on this? Would really like to see some Custom skins soon.. and the ability to create own... and customize for example the popup and such
Bump for interest

[Theme] Spearoid's Clean and Blue

I have finally taken the time to try to get my icons the way I want them to look on this phone. I stopped developing my tweaking skills in the days of WinMo 6.5, but I decided to tinker with a framework-res.apk in one of Trailblazer's mods to swap out all the icons I wanted to change.
After sifting through many other themes mostly made for the Fascinate, I have repacked the file with the icons I wanted. I also blanked out the Ticker History button and the "No Data" button for the Weather on the Ticker. See Screenshot.
I am sure there is a better way to install this file, but I took the framework-res file out of Trailblazer's Touchwiz Accurate Theme, replaced all the icons I wanted in the file and then I copied it back into his .zip file. I was then able to flash the .zip file in Recovery. I am sure you can use Root Explorer or some sort of file manager program to replace the file, but I haven't had the best of luck replacing files that way so I went with what I knew would work.
I figured I would share my work in case anyone else has wanted a different look for their Continuum.

Awesome! I have one question for you though... You stated you "blanked out the Ticker History button and the "No Data" button for the Weather"... Are the blanked out so if your finger/hand/palm, what ever touches those areas, it doesn't open the damn address search (for weather) or the ticker history? If that is the case, I have been wanting something like this for a while, I just haven't had the time to dive into exploring this, and TrailBlazer seemed to have been working on it, so I figured I'd wait for him. Thanks dude!
I've been working on my batch so that it actually removes the buttons, like totally (not just blank images)... Finished it yesterday, just need someone to test it any volunteers? Lol
You can choose the clock color, softkey images, button remaps, hide/show history and/or weather icon.....

Spearoid, I tried using root explorer to replace the apk from blazers theme with the one you posted. No luck.
Blazer, I would be more than willing to volunteer to try your batch out.it includes all the things I want to change.

Yeah, I've had little luck doing file replacements on vital system files that way.
I took the .apk in the OP and overwrote that file in Trailblazer's Touchwiz Accurate theme .zip file.
I open Trailblazer's zip file with a program like WinRar....then browse to the system/framework folder...and drag and drop my new .apk into that folder....it overwrites...and I copy the zip file to my SD card and flash from recovery.
all is good from there
I wish I knew how to take files like these and put them in a new flashable zip file. I'd probably be more inclined to do more tweaking if I could
And Moon Shadow, they are just transparent png files. The buttons still function.
But I'm with you, I'd much rather have them be invisible AND non-functioning
Trailblazer, post up the link. Now that I have this thing working right, again, I'll beta
Looks great. Just got it working last night. I really like the blue. And three battery icon is bigger which makes it easier to see. Great work!

Sweet, I'm glad someone likes it!
The battery icon was my primary motivation for making the new file. The white text on green was almost impossible for me to see.

[Q] App Icons

I would like to change the default icons on some of the ROMS that I use. I have looked through the files and folders on my phone from Root Explorer as well as using a PC to explore. I have found that on many roms I can find a few files that are named "icon_....". However the "artwork" for the icon that I see on my homescreen or app drawer are completely different. Is there a way to replace either manually replace or a ODIN or some other installer that will use any icon's that I would create and want to put into a rom of my choice.
Have I explained this good enough?
Icons such as the default MMS icon or phone icon, etc....
you can use a different launcher (go launcher for example) and use different theme icons. I usually mix and match from a couple different themes myself.
As for changing the icons without using a different launcher you can cook your own themes in UOT kitchen or dsixda, however they require more extensive knowledge of android
Thanks jigglynuts. I have used different launchers Go, ADW, TW, Honeycomb and others. I have also used UOT. I have had marginal success with UOT. There are a LOT of available options there as well. Here is the real question....I don't want to "steal" anyone's hard work. I really like the black icons that RaverX3X put into the unnamed ROM RC2. Is there a way of peeling those out of the ROM and putting them into a different ROM such as ICBINB? If this is a wicked taboo move, then I apologize. If it is cool, how can this be done?
hopefully Raver or another themer will chime in on exactly how that's done. I believe you need to go inside each .apk file and pull out the drawable folders and find which one has the icon inside it. Then you can extract the image, edit it, and put it back into the apk when you are done.
I'm sure that's an oversimplified version of how it's done though.

Actually it's pretty spot on... My dad themed his Rom by doing that and that's what he was telling me to do.. he also said that you can ether pull the .png files that you want to change... edit them and put them back. Or You can get icons from searching the internet and just make sure they are named exactly how the original is named. I just can't find the ROM I want lol...
Just for starter purposes I want Stock GB..
I'm currently running
GingerBread stock
Kernel: Blastoff-v2
Modem: KG4
My whole journey started with "Why can't I send long txts" Dad said to go to XDA and Root the phone. Blastoff gave me CWM and the Modem KG4 fixed the txting and gps issues... as well as took my signal back into 4g! I figure if I'm gonna keep messing with stuff... I want to do themes...

[Q] How to reset Rom's wallpaper

I have tried a couple of roms recently. Both times my wallpaper changer app has replaced the rom's wallpaper. I have searched and not seen an easy way to get the original back. I really don't want to have to reinstall if not necessary. Any help?
I can offer you two approaches:
1. Long press on home screen and choose Wallpapers > Wallpapers and click Reset to Default
2. Using Root Explorer (or similar), navigate to /system/framework and "View" the framework-res.apk - navigate to framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi and find the file called default_wallpaper.png - copy and paste it to your sdcard to use as you'd like...
EDIT: Maybe i'm not understanding you properly - does your wallpaper changer app (btw, what does that app do besides change wallpapers?) possibly swap out the default_wallpaper.png file mentioned above? If so, you can just browse to the same file location in the full ROM file you originally downloaded, using 7zip (or the like), and grab the original wallpaper that way..
Found file with explorer. Must not have looked in right dir. Wallpaper changer will change wallpaper at assigned intervals; hours, minutes etc. It pulls images from designated folder. I . bored with same wallpaper day after day. Its nice to wake up each day and see what my wallpaper of the day is. Thanks for the help.

[How-to] Custom Dot View Live wallpapers

I successfully was able to replace one of the dot view live wallpapers with a custom one I through together.
I'm not sure how to actually add another live wallpaper, just replace one.
Some people asked how I do it, so I'm going to show you.
First, find a gif image you want and convert them to separate images. There is online converters for that or photoshop. (has to be 29 images)
1.) grab the dot view apk from the phone root directory (if your rooted) or online somewhere.
2.) open the apk as a zip file and navigate to assets. There you will see live wallpapers 1-7.
3.) Choose one of them you don't mind replacing and extract the folder to your desktop
4.) You will see in the folder 3 sets of 29 images (home, incommingcall and notification)
Take all the first 29 images (home) out and import them to photoshop or something similar.
5.) Erase whatever is on the images already or just paint over it with a solid color.
6.) Grab your first gif image and place on top of the first (now erased or painted over) live wallpaper image and resize/move according to your taste.
7.) save it by overwriting the image (ex: home_01.png)
incommingcall and notification pngs are an exact replica of the home pngs. So when you replace ex: home_01.png, also use the same image to replace incommingcall_01.png and notification_01.png
8.) repeat steps 6-7 with all 29 gif images you have.
9.) after you are all done with that, drag the live wallpaper folder with the modified images back into the zip file (.apk)
I would suggest deleting the folder inside the zip your are trying to replace first incase overwriting it screws things up with it (which I don't think it should).
You can (if you want) find the wallpaper icon that goes with the live wallpaper you are trying to replace and mod that image with an icon of your live wallpaper if you'd like.
10.) Put apk in your phone storage and download zipsigner from the play store. Choose the path where your apk is and the path where you want the signed apk to be. Leave the key/mode to stock (auto-testkey)
11.) after it has signed the apk. You can install it via a file browser or something and you can go to the live wallpapers in dot view, click on the one you replaced and it should work.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
