Apparently i somehow actually managed to install cyanogen, but now there's yet another issue. When the phone is started up, the first thing i see is a phone connected to a computer, and between the two is a warning sign. What in the world does this mean? Yes, i did plug in the USB cable.
It looks like this; (excuse my horrible use of Paint, but i'm lazy.)

I don't know what it's like to brick a device (thank god), but can you get into into recovery? If so, restore a backup and go to a stable CM7 build, if you weren't on one already.
And did you try unplugging your phone?

1. I don't think it's bricked. I'll try to reinstall the usb drivers.
2. Yes, i can go into recovery.
3. There isn't a stable CM7 build for the Galaxy Mini. The one i have is the latest unstable one. It should work though.
Oh. How fun. Now i've lost the ability to get into recovery. ****ing hope my girlfriend still has that warranty receipt. **** Cyanogen. I'm going to bed.

Since you know that the current Cyanogenmod is unstable , why do you even use it ?
And then now that you ****ed up your phone , all you do is complain .
The unstable versions are just meant for testing and if you install it it's at your own risk .
Besides , you never wonder how many devices want official CM support their phone so that they can taste the awesomeness .

Shouldn't be sorry just because the OP is being angry because he messed up something on his phone.
You say you cant get into recovery mode, but can you get it into download mode?
If so, flash an official firmware version, re-root, then go to your last cwm backup

WARNING!!!
Don't use ROM Manager!!!!
It'll brick your phone!!!!
Don't even think of installing ROM Manager on your phone. All it's gonna do is brick your phone....
So my advice is, abstain from using ROM Manager until they officially support our phone.
Till then, use the unofficial port of Clockwork Recovery Mod by tj_style.
the complete package is also attached with this post.
DO NOT FLASH IT ON FROYO!!!
If you need any further assistance, please continue the discussion here.
Edit (17-8-12)
It seems like adityam533 has found a method to make ROM manager work on G-Fit.
For further details, go >>>here<<<
I didn't read this post and I used it. Now I can't switch my galaxy fit on. How can I repair it ? Help me please.
The only solution for this is to go to the service center and act like you don't know the "R" of Rooting...
Happy Flashing...
the phone is still in waranty.do you think they'll repair it for no money because it is in warranty ? sorry for my bad english.
depends
if the guy believes that you're innocent and you didn't flash any custom ROMs and that the phone was unrooted, you're safe
else, your warranty's voilated and you'll have to pay

Not really
i got one of those in December for fuggin froyo, that was LATE

Too bad most of us are already running 2.3.5 and higher builds. Would there be any reason to switch to official update?

So I upgraded my girlfriend's cappy to Froyo using CWM (or was it Odin? I can't remember) awhile back; I know it's not official because Kies said her phone was unregistered and so I couldn't do the stock version of Froyo. She's getting this same message now that GB is available; does anyone know if it'll work or break her phone if she downloads it while running an unofficial Froyo?

Unregistered devicecould be the rom you have, a borked imei number, or an improper product code.

Thanks. Would any of those break an official OTA update?
Just one of them will cause Kies mini to give you "unregistered device"
What about updates that are pushed to the phone via AT&T and Wifi?
Not sure. But if i had to guess, i would say yes, those too.
Well, non stock rom-yes
Bad imei-probably
Bad product code-maybe

I have the Verizon GS3 and I have been rooted for about a month now but I kept the stock rom. What are the most stable roms available for the GS3 at this point? Also, the other day I recieved a notification on my phone that an OTA was available to download and install. I declined the update for now because I wasn't sure if it was safe to install it. Is it safe to install the OTA on a rooted phone with a stock rom?

It is safe. Has to be locked and on stock recovery with all stock apps intact. Will lose root and maybe wipe Internal SD. Not sure. Have never taken an OTA on any device.

Most of the TW ROMS are pretty stable. Some of the others have various problems, read in the 2 dev sections about each ROM and it will tell you what is broken. I know, that is alot of reading. But, think of it this way, if you break your phone, that will (should) cost you at least $60 for jtag service. If you read, you can see if you even want to try the ROM. There could be bugs with it that you can't live with. Then again, there could be bugs that you could.

this has to be the most stupid phone ever , ROOTING IS HARD AND IT WILL BRICK THE PHONE , FACTORY RESET FROM BOOTLOADER IS FOR NOTHING , RECOVERY DOES NOT WORK AND THE PHONE SUDDENLY PRACTICALLY IS DEAD
IT WILL COST ME ALMOST 200 DOLLARS TO RESSURECT IT !
I WILL SELL IT AFTER REPAIR AND I NEVER WANT A ANDOIR PHONE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE !
Rooting is hard and will brick the phone? Yeah... I dont even know what to say...
Dont blame the device because you are too stupid to follow instructions.
The ONLY operation that bricks the One S is downgrading the hboot.
Insert stupid person meme here... Anyways long story short if your to dumb to follow the simple instructions(including a program that will do everything for you) then why did you set out to root your phone? And if your done with android does that mean your going to be an apple fanboy? You'll surely brick your iPhone a lot quicker then you did your one s.

Man, thanks you for that informative and helpful thread! Now I know exactly what not to do to get the same brick as you did. Also I am sure that everyone checks xda before getting a phone.
