I have a Rogers Infuse. After using Infused Rom for a while and then messing around with a few other Roms I managed to Brick my phone. Thankfully I unbricked it with Ultimate Unbrick, but since then I am not able to flash anything new. I tried it through ODIN, and through Rom Mananger and CWM recovery...help?

Not enough details... Do note that the Ultimate Unbrick is intended primarily for AT&T users, if you're running Froyo firmware on a Rogers Infuse, the bootloader mismatch will prevent you from ever seeing CWM with a Froyo kernel.
I suggest using Odin to flash a Gingerbread kernel that contains CWM and then flashing a ROM from there. Don't use ROM Manager.
There is a UXKG3 unbrick variant buried somewhere deep in the dev forums, but since it's valid for so few people (bootloader mismatch makes it unsuitable for AT&T owners) it tends to be 2-3 pages down at least.

theres an ultimate unbrick for the rogers infuse as well so that worked fine for me to unbrick my phone. I think I just solved my problem anyways (im obviously not so experienced in this) but I needed to flash the Infusion GB kernel first and it seems to be working now. is there an explanation for that just so I can understand?
Sorry for the unrelated question but this is for the OP.
I have just received my Rogers Infuse and it came with gingerbread stock which is normal but I don't have any overscroll effect at all.
All animations are on, etc but NO overscroll effect. I am not yet rooted and am on stock firmware.
Do you recall if your Infuse had the overscroll effect out of the box? Is my Infuse defective?
Please advise...
Thanks...

I'm pretty sure your fine, Touchwiz isn't the most exciting launcher so even with all animations on i doubt you will notice much difference. Your phone isn't defective it's just begging for some customization!

Because you are using Touchwiz? Your don't have stock gingerbread. You have TouchWiz gingerbread.
What is Touchwiz Gingerbread? In Canada Gingerbread 2.3.3 comes stock out the box
samsung has an overscroll bounce. the glow needs to be added back in with mods. also the crt animations are removed but only the screen off can be added back in. the screen on for some reason doesnt agree with the lockscreen or something and doesnt show

Ok, so a year ago I was flashing roms. on my vibrant on a daily basis. I unfortunately sold my vibrant in february and got a blackberry. I regret doing that and needed to come back. I thought why not get a galaxy 4g. I did that and its in the mail. It should arrive tomorrow but I'm just wondering for those of you who had a vibrant is it like the same for flashing rome with odin and everything else or is it different like a g2 that you have to flash boot loaders and what not. Cut me some slack, its been a while since I've done any of this lol
It will most likely come on froyo so you should use kies to get the official gingerbread release. This should give you the correct bootloaders for the gingerbread roms which are pretty much all flashed through cwm. The only time bootloaders is an issue is when going from froyo to gingerbread.
alright thank you I'm looking forward to it lol. Just one more question, I read somewhere that we can't use rom manager or anything anymore. How am i suppose to get clockwork recovery? I would re-read it but I can't seem to find it.
Don't be dissin' the g2. The g2 is real, the vibrant and sgs4g are fake android. G2 is AOSP, samsung is touchwiz and so is ODIN. Android is from google, not Samsung.

I don't get it either. Anyway no you can't use rom manager. To get cwm the easiest way is to Odin one of Dr honks modified kernels. They provide root and cwm.
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
Phone drivers, Odin program, ravers odin kj6 rom and drhonks odin kj1 kernel. Thats what you need. A laptop too of course. After that... if you know the basics just download customs roms like airfluips aosp style or dsexton icbinb or somas simplysimple. Depending what you like.
Thank you
alright thanks guys. unfortunately phone didn't come today. Better be here tomorrow

Maybe he means that the vibrant had many many roms and the sgs4g not so much. If your used to flashing a new rom daily it wont be like that.

Welllll.... coming from the straight up vibrant, when the bootloader wasn't correct, you'd get rainbows. Idk if this is the actual term or what not, but how can i get the gingerbread bootloaders for this phone? i tried using hemidall and almost perma-bricked my phone.

Look in the Bible in the Dev section for Chadster's KG4 leak which is flashed with ODIN. It was the first leak with the correct bootloaders. Once you have that & if you want stock, you can ODIN Raver's KJ6 Official release.
I'm sure there are other ROMs out there with the right bootloaders and there are quite a few threads about them but this is what always worked for me.
Best of luck.

It depends, are you using 2.2.1 or 2.3.6? Best bet to get started is the hemidall kj6. Find it in our development section.

It's important to make sure that if you want to go to gingerbread from froyo, that you have the correct bootloaders installed. Don't use Rom Manager. Period. Don't Install CWM from Rom Manager. There is a sticky about it, but everyone seems to ignore it.
This is the thread I have used a few times, and it will get you to Gingerbread with CWM which will allow you to install other gingerbread roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223765
After that you can flash the lagfix 2.3.6 KJ6 Kernel (which is great):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380331
Here are a list of popular roms:
1.) Valhalla Black - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1404863
2.) Valhalla Regular - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402966
3.) Octane - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305145
4.) AOSP Style - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323973
5.) ICBINB - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278389
6.) Simply Simple - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321611
Each Rom has special instructions- Ravers require specific mounts for example, which can be found under Mounts and Storage in CWM. Good Luck
Thank you so much i am familiar with odin so thats the program ill stick with.

Yes, you can. However, you have to be careful. If you're going from Froyo to GB (and I think vice-versa) you have to insure the ROM you're flashing has the right boot loaders. Else you could end up with the infamous "rainbow screen" or stuck in a boot loop.
But thats fixable correct?.....
What im getting at .....is im guessin this phone is near unbrickable like the vibrant.....correct?
You can break any phone. Some errors may delete your CWM, which means that you will have to re-flash from Odin, or a similar program. However, if you are careful, and read every instruction properly, then you should be fine. It seems ridiculous at first, especially coming from a Nexus One, but it honestly is a really simple process.
Ok cool i was just checkin to make sure my suspicions were correct
Ok now one more question.....is there no odin flashable rooted 2.3.6? or am i just not finding it?
Cuz now im on 2.3.6 stock unrooted....and id like to sell it rooted as an added bonus to whoever buys it.
Im thinking i want to go back to the vibrant 3g....
2 months and im due to upgrade
Heimdall.
There is a thread in the development forum for a one click root and bhundvens kernel. One click and you are all set

I'm going to set up an Infuse for my Mom tomorrow.
I don't want to install a custom ROM. I just want the OEM Gingerbread, which I'll root and debloat myself.
But I'm unfamiliar with the Infuse GB ROM's.
Which is the most recent available for Odin?
The UCKE3 GTG or the UCKD5 or something else?
Also, if the phone (used) has Froyo on it right now, is it okay to odin straight to Gingerbread or will I need to flash a kernel or radio first?
Btw, here are two of the ODIN's I'm thinking of:

My Phone Is in BootLoop/HardBrick Was Useing Odin One Click To Revert Back To Stock Froyo I Do Not Remember What Version i Used But I Think It Was Made From DesignerGear But Here Is What Happens And All The Info I Have Collected On It.
1.Power Button Does Nothing
2.Both Volume Buttons And Computer Usb Connected Goes to Battery Sign
3.Down Voulme Plus Power Button Does Nothing
4.Wall Plugin Goes To Att Logo And Flashes Every Couple Of Seconds
Would Like to Know If Its a BootLoop/HardBrick And If It Will Be Able To be Fixed
Also Bought A Jig But Wont Get here For A While But If you Think The Jig Will Fix It Then Please Post If It Will
I would suggest you take a look at the "Captivate Connection Issues" thread if you haven't already. There might be something there for you to try.
If you have the battery screen still showing and it appears to actually be charging the phone then you should be ok. A jig should most definitely get you into download mode and from there you can flash back to stock. If this is the one click you used, it's never failed me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989

Just to make the OP fully aware, the one-click listed above does flash froyo bootloaders.
If that's not something you want to do, you can check the one-click thread sticky at the top of the Development section.
Very true. As long as you aren't intending to stay on a stock ROM, roms like cyanogenmod will come with gingerbread bootloaders anyways though.

Unless it's a build I'm not aware of, the roms I've come across (cyanogenmod included) usually don't have bootloaders included.
The roms with bootloaders are exclusively Heimdall/Odin packages, as you have to use one of those programs to flash the bootloaders (with the exception of an old Cognition build which had a modified secondary bootloader, but that's a dangerous thing).
Not trying to be obnoxious or nitpicky, but just want to clarify that bootloader changes need to happen outside of flashing roms in CWM recovery.
Maybe I don't understand bootloaders like I thought I did then lol. I've never had any problems flashing between stock, CM7, and CM9. And I've never manually flashed any bootloaders either?

No problem. If you're going between builds of CyanogenMod, you usually can have either the Froyo/Eclair or Gingerbread bootloaders - CM doesn't seem to care. If you've never flashed a stock Samsung rom that includes bootloaders, you may still be on the Froyo/Eclair bootloaders (and if you've flashed the one you linked most recently, you definitely are).
The issue comes up when you're flashing Samsung-based roms, as a mismatch between bootloaders and Android version can cause some unfortunate behavior. Nothing fatal, just more steps to get things sorted out.

You must be on GB bootloaders because ICY glitch requires them. You probably were on stock gingerbread at some point. Also, bootloaders are never flashed from the phone; it can't touch them. You always need Odin/heimdall for it.
