My cousin is having issues with his phone and asked me if I could help him flash back to stock. I'm doing some forum searches but I can't seem to clearly find an odin rom to return to stock (as in out of the box T-Mobile US stock, unrooted). I'm not familiar with the different samsung versioning, ie. kd5, etc....so I think that's what's making it difficult for me to understand which to use. (I'm assuming it's got to be out there, and that I just don't understand what I'm seeing in my search results to figure it out. The lettering is confusing the crap out of me.)
I would appreciate it if someone who knows what's what can help and just point me to a link to the rom to flash? I've used Odin before, so I think I'm good from there. Thanks in advance.
[EDIT] I'm still doing some searching....should I just grab this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183413
and then follow step 1 - 8 here to flash?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215748

...sounds like this one-click "Fully back to stock UVKJ6" is what I need, can someone smarter than me confirm this?

I'm not 100% about the latter one you posted; I'd have to go read through the whole thread. However Raver posted an ODIN version of Samsung's official KJ6 ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353176
Make sure you factory data reset after you flash to clear your cousin's data off of the phone.

Yes, just make sure it's the Odin one.
Android 2.2 (KD1 Froyo) was stock on my phone purchased in November 2011. To obtain a non-rooted version with no alterations to the recovery mode, check the official samsung site here:
http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa...ID=2&PROD_SUB_ID=557&PROD_ID=560&AT_ID=373879
All the other versions I've ever ODIN'd including Ravers "KJ6 stock only" came pre-rooted.
KD1 was fast and smart but 2.3.6 Gingerbread (KJ6) is faster, even though an official GB release was made for the SGS4G, it is not considered stock equipment.

Stock Firmware For Samsung Phones.
You can go to samfirmware.com and get stock firmware for your phone. At the top menu click on Mobile and choose your device. You have to register to do this but, it doesn't cost anything.
Hope this helps.

We have a thread with the KD1 complete stock firmware.
Samfirmware.com doesn't have the files on their site anymore. They are SamMobile.com now.
The thread I link to and the files on SamMobile are the same.
Well if you do want a stock KJ6 rom you can use the one click I made here:

It depends, are you using 2.2.1 or 2.3.6? Best bet to get started is the hemidall kj6. Find it in our development section.

It's important to make sure that if you want to go to gingerbread from froyo, that you have the correct bootloaders installed. Don't use Rom Manager. Period. Don't Install CWM from Rom Manager. There is a sticky about it, but everyone seems to ignore it.
This is the thread I have used a few times, and it will get you to Gingerbread with CWM which will allow you to install other gingerbread roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223765
After that you can flash the lagfix 2.3.6 KJ6 Kernel (which is great):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380331
Here are a list of popular roms:
1.) Valhalla Black - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1404863
2.) Valhalla Regular - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402966
3.) Octane - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305145
4.) AOSP Style - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323973
5.) ICBINB - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278389
6.) Simply Simple - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321611
Each Rom has special instructions- Ravers require specific mounts for example, which can be found under Mounts and Storage in CWM. Good Luck
Thank you so much i am familiar with odin so thats the program ill stick with.
Currantly im on froyo 2.2.1.
As i have just taken my first baby step with this phone by buying and rooting it today i will continue to absorb all the info i can ....slowly

Yes, you can. However, you have to be careful. If you're going from Froyo to GB (and I think vice-versa) you have to insure the ROM you're flashing has the right boot loaders. Else you could end up with the infamous "rainbow screen" or stuck in a boot loop.
But thats fixable correct?.....
What im getting at .....is im guessin this phone is near unbrickable like the vibrant.....correct?
You can break any phone. Some errors may delete your CWM, which means that you will have to re-flash from Odin, or a similar program. However, if you are careful, and read every instruction properly, then you should be fine. It seems ridiculous at first, especially coming from a Nexus One, but it honestly is a really simple process.
Ok cool i was just checkin to make sure my suspicions were correct
Ok now one more question.....is there no odin flashable rooted 2.3.6? or am i just not finding it?
Cuz now im on 2.3.6 stock unrooted....and id like to sell it rooted as an added bonus to whoever buys it.
Im thinking i want to go back to the vibrant 3g....
2 months and im due to upgrade

I'm going to set up an Infuse for my Mom tomorrow.
I don't want to install a custom ROM. I just want the OEM Gingerbread, which I'll root and debloat myself.
But I'm unfamiliar with the Infuse GB ROM's.
Which is the most recent available for Odin?
The UCKE3 GTG or the UCKD5 or something else?
Also, if the phone (used) has Froyo on it right now, is it okay to odin straight to Gingerbread or will I need to flash a kernel or radio first?

My Phone Is in BootLoop/HardBrick Was Useing Odin One Click To Revert Back To Stock Froyo I Do Not Remember What Version i Used But I Think It Was Made From DesignerGear But Here Is What Happens And All The Info I Have Collected On It.
1.Power Button Does Nothing
2.Both Volume Buttons And Computer Usb Connected Goes to Battery Sign
3.Down Voulme Plus Power Button Does Nothing
4.Wall Plugin Goes To Att Logo And Flashes Every Couple Of Seconds
Would Like to Know If Its a BootLoop/HardBrick And If It Will Be Able To be Fixed
Also Bought A Jig But Wont Get here For A While But If you Think The Jig Will Fix It Then Please Post If It Will
I would suggest you take a look at the "Captivate Connection Issues" thread if you haven't already. There might be something there for you to try.
If you have the battery screen still showing and it appears to actually be charging the phone then you should be ok. A jig should most definitely get you into download mode and from there you can flash back to stock. If this is the one click you used, it's never failed me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989

Just to make the OP fully aware, the one-click listed above does flash froyo bootloaders.
If that's not something you want to do, you can check the one-click thread sticky at the top of the Development section.
Very true. As long as you aren't intending to stay on a stock ROM, roms like cyanogenmod will come with gingerbread bootloaders anyways though.

Unless it's a build I'm not aware of, the roms I've come across (cyanogenmod included) usually don't have bootloaders included.
The roms with bootloaders are exclusively Heimdall/Odin packages, as you have to use one of those programs to flash the bootloaders (with the exception of an old Cognition build which had a modified secondary bootloader, but that's a dangerous thing).
Not trying to be obnoxious or nitpicky, but just want to clarify that bootloader changes need to happen outside of flashing roms in CWM recovery.
Maybe I don't understand bootloaders like I thought I did then lol. I've never had any problems flashing between stock, CM7, and CM9. And I've never manually flashed any bootloaders either?

No problem. If you're going between builds of CyanogenMod, you usually can have either the Froyo/Eclair or Gingerbread bootloaders - CM doesn't seem to care. If you've never flashed a stock Samsung rom that includes bootloaders, you may still be on the Froyo/Eclair bootloaders (and if you've flashed the one you linked most recently, you definitely are).
The issue comes up when you're flashing Samsung-based roms, as a mismatch between bootloaders and Android version can cause some unfortunate behavior. Nothing fatal, just more steps to get things sorted out.

You must be on GB bootloaders because ICY glitch requires them. You probably were on stock gingerbread at some point. Also, bootloaders are never flashed from the phone; it can't touch them. You always need Odin/heimdall for it.

Click on my "Helpful Links" signature below. Then see the Guides and Root (How to). That's about as easy as it is gonna get, apart from someone taking ur phone and doin it for ya.
Guide of Guides
I just went through the process of rooting and roming for the first time and wrote this up for a buddy of mine interested in doing the same. The fact that this is the first time I've done this should be a bit of a warning though. Still, it worked for me.
Here's basically what I did. You might want to read through them all before starting.
Backup manually by mounting your phone to your computer and copying everything you care about
Root
I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1444382
From a Mac, I think you can do the same, but flash with Heimdall instead of Odin
Now that you have root, get Titanium Backup from the Market and backup
This is an awesome app, you can also use it to remove the AT&T bloatware, which will really improve your phone
Install ClockworkMod (aka, CWM)
Flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=566807&d=1302623831
Follow ROM instructions
I used Slim ICS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517486
Download and install instructions on the web site: http://www.slimroms.com/
Grab a nightly CM9 ROM for that: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=captivatemtd

I don't know that the thing you're looking for exists right now. AdamOutler made a Heimdall-based Froyo one-click, but I don't think there is an Odin-based one.
At the moment, it looks like your choices are to use the Odin-based one-click (by Designgears or Cezar, depending on your bootloader needs), or the Heimdall-based one-click of Froyo.
