Battery Calibration - HTC Desire S

Hey all,
I downloaded from the market the application of battery calibration at first when I entered it told me to root my device and when I read the information it told me that it's recommended to use this app on a newly downloaded ROM because this app erases the file batterystat.bin file wich i don't have access to also this file will be recreated by the phone so should I use it or this may cause trouble for the phone

yes you can use it without any problem, just follow the steps as described by the author.
or you can use "Wipe battery stats" in the CWM/4EXT Recovery, if you've installed that one.

Well if your on a stock rom i dont see the need to use this

If you're on stock you will be un-rooted so don't waste your time with this application. It's intended for people who flash new ROMS.

Yes without root you do not need this app. There is a degree of battery calibration you can do on stock. It is described in my guide, but breaks down like this;
1. Wait for a couple of weeks after first buying the phone for the battery to reach full potential.
2. With phone on, charge until green LED shows.
3. Unplug charger, then turn the phone off.
4. Plug charger back in and charge until green LED shows once again.
5. Unplug charger and turn phone back on.
6. Plug in charger and once again wait for the green light. Should be quick this time.
You're done!

Download new clockwork to charge when off :)

I just tested it.
I turned phone off with 80% and and put it on the charger. The orange LED came on and after few mins I booted it up and it was on 85%.
So it looks like everything is fine again
To download new CWM just download rom manager from the market and install the new recovery.

Haha do you get paid to advertise your thread?
You are everywhere saying that its an option. Its 128412 easier to do it with Rom Manager, and less chance of screwing things up for newbies
I am really happy that Rom Manager is finally here, and cant wait till we get the chance to download Roms from it - making life so much less complicated for everyone new on here.

So the new CWM from the market will install a fixed version of recovery? I had already changed it through the link in the sticky post, then I installed CWM and it changed the version number. I thought it had put the bad one back on so I reinstalled the version from the thread.
I am so confused.
just leave there your CWM (v4.0.1.4 with revolutionary logo in the background) from sticky post.. i can confirm it's chargning when off and i haven't experienced any problems so far
Can someone who knows for SURE please do a definitive thread on this issue?
There are so many posts and threads with old and conflicting info around, that its too confusing to realise whats going on.
CWM team didnt help this by updating their software, yet giving it the old version number. ...
CWM 4.0.1.5 (the one ROM Manager flashes) has an issue for some users, if you use the phone until the battery dies completely, it will not charge. Use the 08/03/11 4.0.1.4, it has no issues.

htc desire s problem(SOLVED)

I recently brought a htc desire s rooted with sense 3.0. Today when i was downloading an app the phone blocked on the start screen and i couldn t do anything. I got the battery out and reiserted it but after de load screen ..nothing..i could see the screen was lit but nothing. After repeteing the process for 5 times it finally worked and the phone started..What could be the problem? Please help me. And also superuser is not working. it says it failed application or something like that every time i use it or some program tries to use it..The same with programs that require root. They just fail.the rest of the programs work perfectly and the Sense ui is smooth. What could be the problem?
hey..may be the root was done badly..steps missed..try reformating ur fone..re-root and install a fresh rom..Htc runnymede sense3.5
works grt!
the good thing is that your phone is not bricked
i would check what eMMC phone has
and of course flash a new rom
reboot to recovery and check for error messages like: "E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log"

Just be careful with pulling the battery... there is a known issue with the Desire S where that menrioned eMMC chip gets messed up when power is disrupted by pulling battery... apparently Power and Vol up Vol down all at the same time pressed do reset the Desire S when a freeze occurs... also.. update apps in market only one by one... and read the threads here in general section a but further down.. Don t install su 3.0 ,it s terrible unstable on desire s.

Just copy the ROM in my signature to your sd card and boot into recovery, and use install from sd card option to flash it.
If you want a sense 3.0 ROM, this is the best out there. For Non-sense ROMs, you can try CyanogenMod or MIUI
However, i would first recommend that you download 4EXT recovery (link in my sig) and flash that instead of CWM (from inside recovery). Then use the format option to reformat your system, data and cache partitions to ext4 and then flash the ROM.

No. I have this "chip" too, and as long as you do not do a battery pullout when the phone is switched on, you are safe. There is no hard and fast rule that your phone will get fried just because you have this chip. Lots of people have it on their phones and most aren't even aware of it! So i wouldn't worry too much about it.
Even if by mistake, you do pull out the battery while the phone is powered up, DO NOT REINSERT IT IMMEDIATELY. Wait for around 30 sec to a minute, then reinsert it.
This is very important. You shouldn't be doing battery pulls, but if you HAVE to, wait for some time before putting it back in... i guess it'll give some time for the capacitors to discharge and not cause a spike of current when you reinsert after some time.
Seems to be working well for people who are doing frequent battery pulls, despite being on the same eMMC chip as us.
Hope this helps you.

[Q] Help! Messed Up! Need to reset!

So I'm a noob to all this rooting biz, but had done tons of jailbreaks so thought this would be similar. It's not!
I rooted my phone (Samsung Infuse) and was going to flash MIUI on it. It wouldn't work, so I gave up and went to the 'Download Roms' or whatever section in Clockworkmod and thought all of those would work for my phone.. So I tried downloaded Darky rom, and once it downloaded and flashed, the phone is now stuck on
'Galaxy S'
GT-19000
Samsung
When I take the battery out and go to do a reboot or hard reset, it shows the reg samsung logo for a second then glitches to that galaxy s **** and it doesn't work. I can't even get it into recovery mode!
I have a Mac and I don't know what to do. Please help me asap. I just got this phone 3 days ago. And if I can't fix this myself, will my insurance/30-day return still be valid or will this **** up my warrantee?
use this.

I believe that after it has done its thing, the phone should have rebooted into recovery mode and showing an option to delete all user data or factory reset. If not, try manually going into recovery mode:
1. Turn off phone.
2. Hold down both up and down volume keys and the power key.
3. Let go of the POWER key when you see the samsung logo pop up. (keep holding the volume keys until it boots into recovery)
4. Now go down to where it says delete all user data or maybe it says factory reset. Something along those lines. Let it do its thing and then
5. Reboot system.
After doing so, you will lose root and all of data. Re-root, add the custom recovery. And READ READ READ. The only roms you can flash from recovery mode is gtg's roms. So check out all roms in the development section here. Read the differences and flash away
I'm currently on miui and I'm loving it because it's very customizable. But battery life sucks on it.

Its because darkys rom is for i9000 and that is i9000 boot screen your looking at...do not try to flash anything for infuse off of rom manager...use infuse development thread.....you should be able to hold vol u vol down(at the same time) and power for about ten seconds and that will put you back into recovery....then if you are in green cwm go to mounts and storage...mount usb drive....and you can download a rom from our thread and put it on your sd card without having to reboot....wipe everything and flash rom that you downloaded...if you have red cwm...go to apply update zip..choose it...and flash it...now u have green recovery...hope that helped..

[Q] Acidentally started rooting my phone, SuperOneClick got stuck

So, a few minutes ago I was messing around on SuperOneClick before rooting my phone (it was not connected at this point). I went to take a shower, came back and plugged in my phone to transfer some music I had sitting on my PC. However, I had forgotten that I was playing with SuperOneClick and it was still open, so when I plugged in my phone it just started the rooting procedure on it's own
Now, about 15 minutes later and I'm stuck at this screen:
u.cubeupload. com /Samuka97/what.png (remove the spaces, I'm sorry but I'd rather not brick my phone than care about anti-spam measures)
The phone is on and I can use it normally, but I'm afraid to unplug it and I don't know what I should do for the procedure to continue, so I figured it was better to ask here instead of mourning over a bricked phone later.
TL;DR: Accidental rooting procedure got stuck as shown in above picture, what do?
Use this, this is way easyier just follow the steps.

I'll check it out, but for now: is it safe to unplug my phone now?
I used super one click for my girlfriend. It works well, only it doesn't install cwm. So I would suggest doing it the "hard way" get cwm properly installed so you don't have to rely on rom manager. If you really want to use super one click try looking up if your firmware even works with it then try another exploit.

Battery Issue. Flash to stock and unroot with no computer?

Does anyone know if there's a way to fix a dead battery? I brought the phone in after my phone wouldn't charge while being connected to power (kept on discharging even though it said "charging"). The phone won't turn on at all with the current battery using multiple cords and power sources. As I said, I brought the phone in to Best Buy where I have a protection plan and they tried a different battery which caused the phone to boot up. They ordered me a replacement battery over a week and a half ago and I have still not received it.
I was hoping there was some way of getting the dead battery to somehow charge again as I'm losing business because of this and apparently no one in town has the battery on hand for some stupid reason. The guy at Best Buy mentioned there were ways of making it charge again but said it was "unsafe". I'm not concerned with harming myself and will try anything. Any ideas would be wonderful.
You should order one through VZW Tech support. If you get lucky you could even just drop into a VZW store and they might just give you one.

It does work. I have used it multiple times. Just make sure your battery is at least 80% and you have an unlocked bootloader (required to use mobile Odin). If you don't have an unlocked bootloader use EzUnlock 1.2 (Must use 1.2)
